CS3 Mac: Button highlights preview and show on computer but not set top player
Hi,
I have a pretty simple project on CS3 Mac Encore (all Apple & Adobe updates except Quicktime is 7.3.1). It consists of three menus which started as Photoshop files with the button overlays done in Photoshop.
I have been DVD authoring a long time on DVD Studio Pro and am an expert with After Effects, so I had no problems setting up the DVD on Encore. It previews perfectly, and when I burn it to DVD, it plays perfectly on my Mac. However, when I tried to play it on two different set top DVD players (both high quality - one JVC and one Panasonic) the button highlights do not show up at all -- you can't tell at all which button is active.
I hunted through the posts here and at other forums, and the only suggestions that I have found are that it might be a corrupted project. I have tried trashing the preferences, repairing permissions, and rebooting, and the problem persists. It is a very new installation (I recently formatted the drive, and installed a fresh OS with Apple's suite and Adobe's suite because of the recent Quicktime 7.4 bug).
So... I will try to create a new project and see if this still happens. In the meantime, has anyone else seen this?

I'm having the same problems with a very simple dvd I created. 1 main menu (static background image and buttons from the encore library) and 1 scene selection menu (static background with the same button). Ouput to dvd -r and have 100% playback on computer, but I'm having varied playback on set top players. The dvd's play, but button highlight is not visible. The dvd will navigate as long as you count the clicks of the remote... I have duped 40 copies and my client couldn't play them on several different dvd players he has. We have tried them on several of our own players and not found a problem, but I traveled to his site and checked myself; they don't work. The 2 players that wouldn't display the highlights are a jvc dr-mv5su and a brand new durabrand sts96. I have re-created my dvd using dvd architect and they play fine on all the players (using a standard underlined text highlight). Any suggestions??? I really don't think I'm doing anything wrong, but I am new to Encore CS3 Mac.

I know this has been a problem debated in previous threads, but I'm posting afresh as it's happening to me now and I can't see that anyone discovered a solution (other than to do it in DvdStudio instead!).
The issue is that button highlights won't display on set top players. I'm using a mixture of menus that I've pulled through from an Encore 2 project built on a PC (that worked fine), as well as new menus created in Photoshop.
As I test, I tried adding a menu from Encore's own library - and even that doesn't work!
I have also tried taking menus from the current project into a new one, and they don't work.
Any thoughts would be great. I'm on a new iMac 2.8 and encore cs3 with all the latest updates

My TC is connected to my modem, the internet works fine on the computer, yet my airtunes is still flashing as well as my TC. In status it says internet connection is the problem and there is not a valid IP address. Any help?
Details, please. By "my airtunes" do you mean an AirPort Express base station? By "the internet works fine on the computer", do you mean when the Time Capsule is connected to the modem, or when the computer is connected to the modem?
If things work when the computer is connected to the modem but not when the Time Capsule is connected to the modem, you may need to reset your broadband modem to convince it to connect to a "new" device. Depending on the model of modem, that can be as easy as removing power for a few moments. If that doesn't work, remove power and wait 15 minutes. Further reset steps can involve pressing a "reset" button or removing a battery if the modem has one. In the worst case, your ISP may need to edit its settings to update to the MAC address of the new router.
If you have an AirPort Express with a flashing status light, connect your Mac to the Express with an Ethernet cable and use AirPort Utility to see why it's complaining.

My son posted an album on Facebook; he took the pictures with a regular camera. I shared the album and it immediately showed up on my All-in-One computer and on my Droid phone on my Facebook timeline. It has never appeared on the iPad, so all my friends with iPads are not seeing this photo album. Do yoiu have any idea why?

I have discovered the same problem. The timeline or group that the album is loaded directly to one can see the album and photos. However my habit has been to us my group as archive and then share the album with other groups saving me uploading several times. If I look at on my desktop I and others like you see the shared album and friends with droid FB apo also see but ones with iOS FB app do not see the shared album be it on a friend/family member timeline another group. I do not think this used to be, if almost seems that recent updates of the applicaion for iOS led to this problem but I am not certain. This is a big issue as I do not have time to upload and describe the same photos on the two to three other groups I share with. I share your frustration, and there seem to be other things I do not see maybe it is all the shared photos/albums vs ones put on a timeline or group. Not acceptable... -
Why have my mac mail sent messages disappeared on one computer but not the other?
My mac mail account on my Air is not showing my sent messages other than the one I just sent. To find the variables, I checked my mac mail on my iMac and my sent messages are there.
Not sure what the problem is but I look forward to some help.
Thanks.I note that I just found all previous sent messages in the separate sent messages folder on my sidebar (minus the message that appears in my regular Sent Mailbox). I just moved these to the Sent mailbox and will wait to see if they appear there (in the sent mailbox) once it has processed this action.

Use remote with Apple TV and a second computer but not third
I can't seem to figure this one out. I have an imac and a macbook pro, the imac connected to the extreme modem and my itunes library is accessible from the apple tv remote control. When I use the remote for the apple tv, Front Row on the macbook pro opens up and when I use the up or down buttons on the remote, Front Row responds. Somehow the remote is sending a signal to the macbook pro/Front Row. How can I stop this from happening? Any ideas are welcome..
GHThe macbook pro is responding to the tv remote. You can fix this by disabling the infrared remote receiver on the MBpro.
Go to System Preferences > Security > General Tab > Click the padlock and supply the admin password > Check "Disable remote control infrared receiver.

After my computer has been asleep and I touch my trackpad, it wakes enough to show my icon but not enough to acknowledge my keyboard or trackpad so I can type a password. It seems the only way to make it work it to turn it off the back button.
The reason, I included the annotation that I'd upgraded my Itunes, (On my Computer) is B/C in many forums - the very first question, *HELPERS* ask, is. "Do you have the latest version of Itunes downloaded on your computer." I wanted to knock out any obvious replies.
Now- "DO YOU have any idea,"... how your UNHELPFUL remarks, do absolutely nothing but hurt others that might not have the EXPERIENCE you have? How do you expect people to know things without asking questions? Whew! RUDE!!

The icons wiggle and show the x but they will not delete when I press the X. Also the home button will not cancel the action.
Try doing a hard reset: Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After this, try again to delete the app.
If that doesn't solve the issue, you could also try backing up the device and restoring the device as new.
In that case, follow the steps in: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup. If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.

Using his article will erase everything on the device, so make sure you have a backup!

Title & Menu Buttons not working correctly on remote control/ set top player but work in encore preview. This only happens for a Blu ray project. When a user presses the menu button it should go to the previous menu they were on but it goes to the main menu. When they press the title button they should go to the main menu but it doesn't do anything. My DVD projects work as expected.I've tried creating a new "test" project with different footage and still get the same undesirable results.
Overrides grayed out and set to "not set" for timelines and menus.Project settings and build are set to blu ray. Also I've noticed when I preview a Bluray project the preview window shows a red colored disc next to the Title button when viewing the timelines and green when playing the menus but not so for a DVD project it displays red if motion menus and or timelines are not rendered/encoded. I'm not using motion menus and all the media is encoded according to the project specs.
I've searched this forum but couldn't find the answer. Any help or redirects to a solution would be appreciated. Working with CS5. Thanks.I found out on my Samsung Blu ray player the remote has a tools button on it that brings up audio, angle, chapter selection etc.and also title selection which is actually the menus and the timelines unfortunately. It's not as easy or direct as last menu selected but it's a workaround at least. I also plan on using a pop up menu. I'll let you know.

After editing file in ACR 8.6 (Mac) , the file (NEF and XMP) modification dates are not updated
With both my Mac's, reset Photoshop C (2014) to previous version 2014.0. Now find that after editing file in ACR 8.6 (Mac) , the file (NEF and XMP) modification dates are not updated. Reloaded camera raw, etc., but still find modification dates are not updated, either using Finder or using Bridge to view dates. Editing other files, PSD, DNG, TIFF, etc., are updated and the information is correctly displayed.
Ok, not entirely sure what I did but it's now working (Bizarre!). The only thing I did was 'eject' the ACR 8.6 .dmg file from the finder side bar and restart PS CC, so that may have been where I was going wrong all along!
However, I now have another issue in that there is no preview of the shot in Finder on my iMac when I highlight the NEF file. I assume this is simply because Apple haven't yet released an update for the new D810 NEF files and so the computer doesn't know what it's looking at?!?
If anyone has any other ideas though, then I'm more than willing to listen.

You can middle-click or Ctrl left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.

are you using the same user to access backend and portal?. In backend, did you try from transaction PHAP_CHANGE with that user?. If you try with transaction PHAP_ADMIN in backed you are accessing as administrator, so you cannot compare the behaviour in PHAP_ADMIN and portal.

Why can I open attachments (pptx and PDF) on iPhone but not on my MacAir (OS X 10.9.2)? Generally, I can open PDFs on my Mac, but in this case, I opened on iPhone, and not on computer! Also pptx file from one sender opened on iPhone, and not on Mac, and the same pptx sent from another person wouldn't open on either! Help!
Hi there. I think as far as PowerPoint files go (pptx) you will need a copy of Office or some other compatible software (e.g. Keynote) to open it on your Mac. On an iPhone there is a viewer built in just so you can take a look at most common attachment types. If you have a copy of Microsoft Office on your Mac you should be able to open the pptx files in PowerPoint.
OS X definitely has a PDF viewer, it's called Preview. I think you can also load Adobe Acrobat if you want but I've stayed away from it for years as I find Preview faster and better.
If you still can't open a PDF file attached to an email message on your MacAir by double clicking on it, could you let us know what error message you get, or what happens? That will help people to help you.

How do i restore my wifi setting back to the factory settings? I have changed it somehow :/ and now my wifi will not connect. My Airport is on and showing full strength but will not connect.
Ok, if other devices are connecting but just not your MacBook then let's start troubleshooting the MacBook to possibly find out why.
Please try each of the following, in order, until hopefully resolved:
Note the following are excerpts from an OS X Daily article.
* Turn Airport on & off – You can do this via the Airport menu bar or from the Network Preferences. This is the first thing you should try when troubleshooting Mac wireless problems.
* Make sure Wireless/Airport card software & firmware is up to date – This is usually done just by going to the Software Update menu, if there are any updates available for your Mac or Airport, install them.
* Delete and recreate connection – Try deleting and recreating/reestablishing the wireless connection, sometimes a setting can be corrupted and this may fix it.
* Create a new Network Location – Similar to the above suggestion, try creating a new and different wireless network location to see if it resolves the connection problems.
* Change DHCP auto settings to manual – sometimes there is a problem with the DHCP server, and if you manually set an IP address on the network you can be fine. Remember to set the IP to a high number so it wouldn’t interfere with other DHCP machines. As long as you have the subnet mask, router, and DNS settings configured manually as well, this shouldn’t be a problem.
* Flush the DNS cache – Launch the Terminal and enter the following command onto one full line within the Terminal: dscacheutil -flushcache
* Zap the PRAM – Reboot your Mac and hold Command+Option+P+R during restart until you hear another chime, let the Mac boot as usual.
* Delete Wireless Config files – Delete com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist and com.apple.internetconfig.plist files from ~/Library/Preferences and reboot
* Trash your home directories SystemConfiguration – Remove all files within ~/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ and then reboot your Mac.
* Reset your Mac’s System Management Controller (SMC) – For MacBook and MacBook Pro’s: Shutdown the MacBook/Pro, remove the battery, disconnect the power, hold the Power Key for 15 seconds. Replace the battery, reconnect power, and zap the PRAM and wait for 2 chimes before letting the keys go. Let boot as usual. -
I have been trying to share file between my Mac Book Air and PC Laptop.Sometimes my Mac sees the PC and tries to connect but every time the connection fails. It says server may not exisit or network problem. I have apparently no network problem. Thanks for any help you may provide

somewhere on the windows machineshould be something like "network setup wizard". exactly where it is and what it is called i cannot remember off the top of my head, windows help is actually slightly useful here, it should have a link to it.
all the options checked on the mac are only what services the mac is offering to other machines, they have nothing to do with the services it can access (mostly...).
oh yeah, to actually connect to the pc after you have turned its sharing on, use the finder, or, when it does not show the pc (this happens on and off, possibly a refresh problem apple...) choose go --> connect to server and enter smb://<pc's name or ip>
to find the ip, the easiest way i think is
start --> run --> cmd ->> ipconfig
