CS3 on  MacBook Air

Had CS 3on MacBook.  Upgraded to MacBook Air.  Get error message to uninstall and reinstall CS3on new computer.  How?

What OS are you running on the new system?
Apple is pretty ruthless about making old software obsolete...  Could this be a case where Photoshop CS3 is simply too old to run on the newer operating system?
I don't know much about Macs but I am trying to learn.

  • Installing CS3 on MacBook Air

    Hello,
I purchased Creative Suite 3 in 2007 for Macintosh and I am trying to figure out how to install this on a MacBook Air.  MacBook Airs do not have a CD ROM in them and my software is on a DVD I bought from Adobe.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

There is some good news - BAD news related to this.  That or I am still very confused..
I had Adobe Illustrator CS3 running on my G5 PPC - Installed it on my new Mac Mini OS-X 8.5 from the original install disc, with the original Serial Numbers - and it seems to run fine in Mountain Lion. So far so good.
Once you get CS3 installed on your newer computer - you will find that the software tries to connect with the Adobe Server on line for "authentication" - but in the mean time Adobe has shut down their authentication servers - now they want users to download a copy of the CS S/W from their sight - that needs no "authentication" - and instead uses a license key which they give you.
The Problem is - if your copy of CS3 was for a Mac PPC - - - Adobe's download is only good for a PPC Mac - meaning that it most likely won't work on the newer Intel  Macs.
The copy of SC3 that I have - seems to be one originally made to run on either or both Mac's and PC's = as there is only one disc - that installs on both Mac and PC software. So I don't know if they used to sell a PPC version only - i.e.. for the G4/PPC G5's only - or not.
I believe that if I have a legal copy of CS3 running on my new Mac - I should be able to get something done about Adobe no longer requiring authentication for my Software… without having to have it on a PPC Mac.

  • How do I transfer photoshop cs3 from my mac powerbook to my macbook air?

How do I transfer my photoshop cs3 from my mac powerbook to my macbook air?

Download the Trial version to the MacBook Air from
    http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
Follow the Very Important Instructions on that page first otherwise the links won't work.
Then launch the Trial and enter your CS3 serial number and you're done.
That'll use up your second (of 2) activation. If you want to remove Photoshop CS3 from the Powerbook then open Photoshop Help > Deactivate then uninstall to free up an activation.

  • CS3 Installation on Macbook Air Issues

Trying to install CS3 on my Macbook Air. Click on set-up and nothing happens. Pops in the tray for a nano second then disappears.
    Mac OS X  10.6.8

I guess I'm the only person who has had this issue. Can't get help from support - nothing but the run-around. Told me to submit a webcase, but the online form won't let me. There's no option. Tried calling, but they're only interested in helping people with the new version. So I sit here with software that won't install, getting more and more frustrated and realizing that this is what happens when there is no competition. There is no other software out there like the Creative Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. I have CS5 at work and have been using Photoshop for years. But when I get a copy I can use at home, I can't get any help from them. Not blaming the forum users, just needed to vent.
I've tried using the "cleaner" to get rid of the trial version of Photoshop Elements - when you're accustomed to the real thing 8+ hours a day at work, PE just won't do.
I'm not sure about installing or activating (?) Rosetta. I'm a pretty new Mac user, always had to use PCs at work until last year when we finally convinced management to go Mac for the design department.
I've no trouble installing other software on the Macbook Air. It could be as simple as a defective disk, but with Adobe unwilling to help, I don't know.

  • Can you install Adobe Creative Suite CS3 on a 2012 Macbook Air running Lion?

Can you install Adobe Creative Suite CS3 on a 2012 Macbook Air running Lion?

Are you talking about adobe creative cloud?
If you are, the Adobe Creative Cloud give you most of Adobe's tools (and all that most would need) to do anything.  I will warn you about this though, is that it is a subscription, and you are basically renting it.  that means you really do not own it.
About the hard disk space, all Adobe apps seem to take up at least a GB (and this does not matter if you get the master collection or the Creative Cloud).  so ether way, it will take some space.
Also, if you want to try-before-you-buy, you can go to creative.adobe.com, and get a free account and try out all of he adobe apps available for creative cloud.  The best part of it, your apps will be updated to CS7 (if or when it comes out) instead of buying the apps again in your subscriptions.  if you need even more information, you can go to adobe's site to find out more (www.adobe.com)

  • Please help with how to copy CS3 from iMac (Snow Leopard) to MacBook Air (Mavericks)

I have a 2006 Mac Desktop computer with the CS3 suite on it.  I still have the discs for the suite and would like to move it over to my macbook air.  I tried to just copy the Photoshop file, but that didn't work. Is there an easy way to migrate these files from one mac to another?  My MacBook Air does not have a DVD drive. Ideally, I would like to have these files on both computers, as I believe you can have your purchased programs on 2 computers.  Anyone have a a quick and easy way to make this happen?

Never, ever migrate. CS installs are "Machine specific", you break licensing doing that.
Go here: Download CS3 products and download the installer for your suite onto your new Mac.

  • Cs3 problem installing on Macbook Air

I am tring to install my copy of CS3 onto a new Macbook Air running OS X 10.8.2
I get this error message soon after starting the install.
"Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance".
I have tried to install from the DVD via Air Disc. I copied the DVD to a memory stick and tried to install that way too. Same error both times.
I called Adobe help and they said that they couldn't offer advice as the software was too old. The guy did recommend trying to install under a new user account. Same error message again.
I don't want to have to buy a new version that I don't really need. Has anyone got any ideas or advice.
    Thanks in advance,
    Wayne van Wijk

Please stop copying the install files from one computer to another.  The issues you are currently experiencing is primarily caused by the use of the Migration Assistant you posted in message #3.
I would recommend you try the following steps:
Run the uninstallers which may be available in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.
Run the CS Cleaner tool to verify the required files have been removed - CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
Reinstall from the installation files copied to a USB drive using a computer which does have an optical drive.
If you continue to face difficulties then the most expedient option would be to format, run the Migration Assistant only for documents and settings, and then reinstall from the USB drive.  I have seen users spend hours and days trying to recover from the use of the Migration Assistant or some type of transfer solution from one computer to another.  Our applications function best if they are installed cleanly from the installer.

  • CS3 installed on macbook air (yosemite) - serial number entered, only giving trial - how do i get past trial?

I have bought a new macbook air.  I installed CS3 design premium, entered the serial number which it accepted.  It recognised it was an upgrade from CS2 and asked for the serial number from CS2.  I entered the serial number but it was not recognised.  I uninstalled CS3 and proceeded to install CS2 first just incase but the installers do not work with yosemite.  So I am stuck with a perfectly good CS3 program which is going to expire in a few days at the end of the trial.
Does anyone know a way around this that I can get the serial number to work to get rid of the trial program?  I have just been on chat with Adobe but they are unable to give support on chat for CS3!

Susank5948872 I am sorry you are facing difficulties locating the eligible serial number to install the upgrade license of Design Premium Creative Suite 3.  I reviewed the account you used to post to this forum but there no Adobe software titles registered to the Adobe ID/e-mail address used to post to this forum.
You can find information on how to locate your registered Adobe software titles at Find your serial number quickly.  If you are not able to locate the registered software titles then please contact our support team directly at Contact Customer Care with alternate e-mail addresses and phone numbers which may have been utilized to register the software title.

  • Reinstalling CC apps on a reformatted MacBook Air '13 SSD

I have a subscription to CC for my MacBook Air 2013.  It has worked perfectly until this morning when I was forced to have a technician at the local Apple Store reformat my solid state drive.  After the hard drive was wiped and reformatted, I have attempted to reinstall all of my files, including my Adobe CC applications from my “Time Machine” backup.  But,  the Adobe CC programs do not work.  I have wiped all of the Adobe CC programs from the hard drive; installed and used the Creative Cloud Cleaner application; and installed the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application.  I logged into the Adobe website using the desktop application so I can re-download and install my favorite apps – most importantly Acrobat Pro.
When I launch the desktop application it indicates that the Adobe Acrobat Pro program is already installed and up-to-date.  But, that program is not on my hard drive.
I also note that the icons for all of my previously-installed Adobe CC programs – including Photoshop and Premier Pro – are still appearing on my “Launchpad” screen on the Mac
I need assistance re-downloading and installing Acrobat Pro and my other CC apps – including Photoshop and Premier Pro.

use the cleaner, then reinstall, Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

  • MacBook Air/nvidia GeForce9400M/driver issue  font installation fails on xp

xp sp3 on a MacBook Air (bought 04-2009, 2x 1,86 GHz, 128 GB SSD) fails to install otf type fonts with an error message. Also Adobe Photoshop 10 (CS3) will crash upon trying to insert writing into a jpeg, tif, psd etc.
Source of problem: The nvidia graphic driver needs some more memory allocation than xp expects.
Remedy: open the registry editor (START>RUN>regedit)
    navigate to the following key:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\MemoryManagement
    add a new REG_DWORD Value
change the name of the value to
    SessionImageSize
    set its value (decimal) to
    20
    reboot
-- this problem would only seem to affect xp sp3 systems with nvidia graphics
-- be sure to backup your registry before changing it and
be sure to know what you are doing before editing the registry
Apparently this problem has been recognized by nvidia and implemented in their latest driver release. This is not suited, however, for Apple products, since they have further customized the nvidia driver (and apparently NOT included this fix!).
The fix will resolve the problems mentioned above with installing otf type fonts and inserting writing into pics in photoshop. Photoshop, however, continues to crash upon exiting, an issue not yet resolved.

    Hi and welocme to Discussions,
use the SafeBoot options of XP as described here http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B315222&x=10&y=11
Use Safe Mode (=Minimal) to startup XP with a minimal set of drivers and from there uninstall the not-working Nvidia drivers.
The reinstall the drivers that worked.
You might wanna tryout if 'Last Known Good Configuration' works.

  • Problems with transferring software from MacBook Pro to MacBook Air

The store transferred applications and contents from one machine to the new one and most applications work OK. However the Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard CS 4 for the Mac (purchased in October 2009) is unusable. I need two packages in particular: In Design (this is version 6.06, and keeps crashing, giving an error code 0x0008014B) while Photoshop says some components are missing and it should be reinstalled. How? Adobe says these versions are incompatible with MacBook Air and they can offer no support. I am not technically proficient and feel totally stumped. Any suggestions?
    Jokila

    I don't know. I don't own a MacBook Air.
You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number from the disks to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

  • How to get permission to a supplementary download of a registered LR 5 to a newly bought Macbook Air, replacing an old one?

A few months ago I bought a Leica Camera and obtained in this connection a free download and a licence for Lightroom 5. The latter was downloaded to partly my stationary Mac Pro, partly my Macbook Pro, the latter so far being only used when travelling. A week's time ago I realised that my Macbook Pro, being more than 5 year old, could not any longer function properly with my hugs picture files, and not at least LR did not work well. Consequently I have now bought a new Macbook Air on which I would like to use my LR. So I would like to know if can obtain the right of a supplementary download to my new computer. How to proceed in such a situation, I can provide all evidence, such as LR 5 licence, TAN, etc to be needed by Adobe, and of course I fully agree that the LR-programme, at present on my Macbook Pro be cancelled. Any advice will be much appreciated.
