CS3 Photoshop cannot launch after installing Lightroom V1.0

Dear All,
Last night, I had installed Lightroom V1.0 into my iMac.
Verified and Repaired Permission and scanned with Disk Warrior. Then when I tried to launch Photoshop CS3, I had an error message:
"A required application library failed to load and the product cannot continue. Please reinstall the application"
Then I reinstalled (repair) only Photoshop and Verified and Repaired Permission. Had my HD scanned (again) with Disk Warrior but my Photoshop still can not launch.
Can anyone share some light here? I thought Lightroom should be able to go hand in hand with Photoshop?
Please advice.
Thanks so much.
chityc.

Hi Ramon,
I have tried reinstalling PS CS3 but the installer was 'repairing' PS instead of reinstalling it fresh? Unless I remove PS and reinstall?
Oh, about the Security Update, all these while, I didn't install any of Apple's security updates as I notice, it creates lots of problem.

  • Photoshop CS4 will not launch after installing Yosemite.

Photoshop CS4 will not launch after installing Yosemite. All the other CS4 apps open. I upgraded Java. Genius Bar could not get it to launch.

Here's the fix I found, by way of an explanation...
Snow Leopard prompted me on my first startup with the following error:
"There is a conflict with the _______ font file. This font file contains a font name that conflicts with a system font required by Mac OS X to display onscreen text. You should move this font file to the Trash."
The fonts it said were conflicting: Helvetica, HelveticaNeue.dfont, Lucida Grande, and Monaco. I figured Snow Leopard probably wanted to replace these fonts with newer versions, and so I clicked "Move to Trash" on all four.
Apparently 10.6 trashed these fonts but didn't replace them. This was causing Photoshop to crash on load.
So I restored my ~/Library/Fonts folder from a backup made just before upgrading and this time after a reboot I said "Allow Conflict" on all four dialog boxes and launched Photoshop... everything is back to normal!
Not sure what kind of "conflict" it's referring to, but apparently moving these font files to the trash as OS X prompted me to do broke a number of apps. Should I report this as a bug?
    Thanks for the ideas!

Is it safe to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 after installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 12?  I just upgraded from 10 to 12 and wanted to know if it is safe or if there would be any issues with uninstalling and removing Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.

Yes you can, if you are happy with the way PSE12 is running.
However both apps will happily co-exist, and there is no duplication as both use the same images on your hard drive.
PSE10 also has some features now removed from PSE12 as Adobe transitions towards 64 bit applications. See my PSE12 first look link:

Best guess is a permissions problem although you haven't mentioned what operating system you are using.

  • Cannot launch After Effects CC 2014

    Hi,
SInce this morning, I cannot launch After Effects CC 2014 anymore.
At the first time, I had a hanging splash screen.
I forced the application to quit.
Now, when i try to launch it, nothing happens, the icon is bouncing in the dock, no startupscreen is showing.
I tried to reinstall the application. Nothing changed.
After Effects CC (12.2) is working correctly.
    I see 2 possible reasons :
    1) I recently updated to Mac OS 10.9.4
    2) Since a few days, each time I launched AE, it said that I had 4-3-2-1 day left to resolve a payment problem (In fact I upgraded my Subscription from Monthly to Year, so I had to cancel my monthly subscription, and then get a new 1-year subscription. It seemed like AE did not see the new subscription)
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Sorry for approximate english...
    Eric

I'd allready tried that but it had no effect.
In Fact, I found a solution from Dépannage des comportements inattendus | Eléments spécifiques d’un compte d’utilisateur | Logiciels Adobe | Mac OS
I had to remove an old startupItem named AdobeResourceSynchronizer.
    Now everything is ok !
    Thanks anyway

  • Help needed. Lightroom 6 doesn't launch after install

I'm a Photography plan subscriber and just upgraded my copy of LR from 5.7.1 to 6.0 through the Creative Cloud Application. Unfortunately, when I click on the Lightroom shortcut on the windows desktop or when I attempt to launch Lightroom 6.0 from the file menu directly, nothing happens, i.e. Lightroom does not launch and does not show up as a running application in the task manager). I've tried uninistalling and reinstalling Lightroom 6.0 and rebooting the computer but neither of these solves the problem. Lightroom 6 will not launch or run. Is anyone else having this problem or does anyone know what I can do to get Lightroom 6.0 to run?

ha, i found help in this thread: LR CC 2015 is crashing after install on Yosemite 10.10.3
i just needed to log out of my account in the creative cloud app, log back in and everything started working again!

  • Lightroom 2 won't launch after install

After installing onto an XP 32-bit machine that already had Lightroom 2 Beta running, Lightroom 2 now refuses to launch. It is an upgrade version loaded from disc but has killed off all the other versions, too.
I have un-installed and re-installed repeatedly - rebooting every time - to no avail. Even a new install of Lightroom 1 won't launch - which makes me wonder if there is a rogue file from the Beta version that needs a serious talking to.
The computer shows the application as correctly installed but it simply won't launch.
    What to do?

    Thanks Lee
Version 2 and Beta preference files no longer exist after uninstalling and V1.0 still refuses to launch even after removing its preferences.
Could there be something in the registry that needs a kick?

  • Lightroom CC will not launch after install

Hi,  installed Lightroom CC today twice but it will not launch. I uninstalled it, restarted then reinstalled it. In task manager you can see it show up for a second then it disappears. I have LR 5, PS CS6, PS CC, PS CC2014. Anyone having issues?

Sign out worked when I did it correctly.  Be sure to go to Preferences in Creative Cloud & click the blue Sign Out button.  Then sign back on.

  • CS3 Crashes on Launch after upgrade

I purchased the cs3 upgrade and successfully installed it..entering my serial # which was accepted. That's as far as I got however!
When I go to launch the program it immediately crashes. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled several time but get the same result. I've basically given up trying to get it working under osx10.4 as I'm going to be upgrading to leopard shortly.
Now my delema is I'm about to upgrade to Leopard and I"m going to do a clean install on a new HD. Since I can't get into CS3 how do I deauthorize it in order to reinstall it on the new drive?
PS- I'm running tiger 10.4 on a powermac G5 with 8gb of ram. I ran the cs3 beta removal script before hand as well.

    Here we go:
I still advocate Repairing Permissions (with Apple's Disk Utility) before AND after any system update or upgrade, as well as before AND after installing any software that requires an installer that asks for your password.
I have seen software installations go sour because the installer did not find everything as and where it should be.
I have also seen software installations go bad because the installer did not clean up after itself properly and did not leave everything as and where it should be.
This is just my own personal opinion and practice based on my own observations. Others may disagree and that's OK. I can only base my routines and my advice to others on my own experience and conclusion. I don't pretend to know why others believe otherwise.
Repairing Permissions after the fact (i. e. not immediately before and after an install) may NOT help. Try it anyway, though.

Additionally, if your machine does not run 24/7 so that it runs the daily, weekly and monthly Cron Scripts in the middle of the night as intended by Apple, run Cocktail (shareware) as well.
Cron Scripts are maintenance routines designed by Apple to run on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in the middle of the night.
If you don't run them, you WILL run into trouble, sooner rather than later.
Here's an excerpt from the Apple tech doc http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107388
Mac OS X performs background maintenance tasks at certain times if the computer is not in sleep mode. If your computer is shut down or in sleep at the designated times, the maintenance does not occur. In that case, you may want or need to run these manually.
Mac OS X periodically runs background tasks that, in part, remove system files that are no longer needed. This includes purging older information from log files or deleting certain temporary items. These tasks do not run if the computer is shut down or in sleep mode. If the tasks do not run, it is possible that certain log files (such as system.log) may become very large.
    Also, from: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106978
The disk activity generated by find is a normal part of file system maintenance, used for tasks such as removing invisible temporary files that are used by the system. It is scheduled to occur early in the morning at 03:15 everyday, 04:30 on Saturdays, and 05:30 on the first day of each month.
    NOTE:
There have been comments to the effect that Apple "fixed" this in 10.4.2 and later versions of the OS, but I have not been able to verify this to my satisfaction. The reference in the 10.4.2 release notes are far from explicit on this subject.

  • Cannon LBP6000 printer cannot print after installing os x 10.8.3

After installing os x 10.8.3, the lbp6000 cannot print.  I have downloaded and installed the latest driver from cannon.  It showed copies are ready to print.  But there is no actual printout.  The print job just sit in the print que.  Any ideas?

Working on the assumption that you had an older version of the Canon CAPT driver installed on this Mac before you installed 10.8, I suggest that you open Finder and trash the following files. Note that if you haven't done the reset that Greg has suggested, you will need to open Print & Scan and remove the current LBP6000 printer.
Mac HD > Library > Printers > Canon > CUPSCAPT (trash this entire folder)
    Mac HD > Library > LaunchAgents > jp.co.canon.CUPSCAPT.BG.plist
    Mac HD > Library > Caches > Canon > CUPSCAPT > CCPD > ccpd.conf
With the above files removed, restart your Mac and then run the CAPT v3.60 installer again. Then add the LBP6000 in Print & Scan and then see if you can print without error.
