CS3 Preview Browser Problem

Hi there, I just downloaded the CS3 trial version and noticed
that in the Browser Preview mode, none of the CSS related
information or imagery shows althought it seems to be linked
correctly. The styles info and images show correctly in the design
view and also when the pages are published accross all browsers.
Any ideas what causes this? Thanks.

• Dreamweaver CS3 frameset browse problem

When I click to preview in a browser for a .CFM file which
contains a frameset, Dreamweaver opens the browser with the
PHYSICAL path (eg. C:\CFusionMX7\wwwroot\mysite\frameset.cfm) and
so all that is displayed in the browser is markup. On the other
hand, if I click to preview in a browser for any other .CFM file,
Dreamweaver correctly opens the page using the web url (eg.
http://localhost:8501/mysite/test.cfm)
and so the page is parsed properly.
Also, If I click the "Live Data Viewer" button on the
frameset page, then I get a message:
The testing server did not execute any of the scripts in your
document. Possible explanations: Testing server is not running.
Testing server ignores .cfm files.
That message only occurs on the frameset page. Other .CFM
pages display correctly in the Live Data Viewer.

Broadcasting your serial number to the entire internet probably isn't going to help things in the activation department.
Can a moderator delete that?

• IE6 Preview Browser Problem; Please HELP

Dreamweaver 8 crashes when I try to preview an asp page with
the IE6 browser, only when there are no other browsers currently

If you don't have BlackBerry data service you may or may not be able to use wifi, as I mentioned above. I have personal experience on a legacy device where wifi worked without a SIM installed on one OS version but not on a later version. So there is hope if you are in this situation, but it will mean trial and error which may prove fruitless.
Also, if you don't have any mobile data service, be very cautious. On legacy BlackBerry you cannot disable mobile data independent of wifi. If you don't have a dat plan you could end up paying a steep pay per use data fee if you accidently use mobile data.
Good luck. I wish I had better news.

• Firefox is not opening in Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 when I try to use it as a Preview Browser

Other versions of Firefox worked as a Preview browser when testing a webpage in Dreamweaver. I'm using version 3.6.11. Is there a fix

There is a fix for Dreamweaver, so it works in Firefox 3.6+ versions:
http://solutions.marketingmedley.com/
There is a $5.00 fee for that Dreamweaver fix. That website and the fix are not associated with Mozilla in any manner. Support for that fix is provided by that that website via email.

• CS3 - preview buttons not appearing in "bar" where they used to

Hello!
I am using OS 10.5.8 and Dreamweaver CS3 Version 9 Build 3481.
In earlier versions of Dreamweaver, there used to be preview buttons/icons, as well as upload buttons/icons, in the "bar" at the top of the window of the page I was creating.
Instead of having to go to File > Preview > Browser,  I used to be able to click on the button/icon in the "bar" and choose which browser I wanted to preview the page in.
I also used to be able to click on the Upload button/icon, in the same "bar" to upload a page through FTP.
Is there a way to add these functions back into that "bar" where buttons/icons currently appear for "Open", "Browse in Bridge", "Save", "Save All", "Print Code", and other buttons/icons?
Thank you so much for your help and Happy Thanksgiving to our American visitors. =)

• Preview browser opens slowly

Hi! My DW CS4 preview browser takes about 3 to 4 min. to open. It only happens within one of the local sites on file. All the other local sites open right on the button when I hit the F12.
I do recall a message coming up when the problem started. It said something about a violation I made, but I can't get the error message to show itself again.
Since it began on one particular page, I decided to download that page from the server to override any possible errors in that pages code. That didn't help.
Any thoughts on this. Thank you!

I don't think it has anything to do with the code because all it takes for the browser is to interpret the code it is rendered by the page and if the page is incorrect, the browser will simply ignore it without telling you.
It is not a bad idea though to do what you want to do i.e. copy/paste the code on a new page just to satisfy your curiosity. If you are going to do this then you should copy the code on to a plain text editor and then copy this text again to paste onto DW editor.  The reason for doing it this way is to strip out any formatting characters that are erroneous.
It is worth a try but I suspect it might have to do with any scripts you might have on the page.

• Trouble keeping page set up as desired when viewing in preview browser?

Why is it when I have my site the way I want it in design mode and I then go to view it in preview or preview browser does everything on the page get messed up?

Jim,
I think you have objects with fixed positions. Can it be that this objects cause the problems? Their potitions are not affected by the margin settings. You have to place them by hand.
If you don't have, turn the layout markers on by selecting the menu item "Darstellung/Layout einblenden". Now you can see a gray frame at the borders of your page. Inside of this gray frame is the printable area (set by the rules of "Papierformat..."). The margins of the document (set in the document inspector) are displayed by the left border of the left colum, by the right border of the right column and by all top and bottom borders of all three columns. This is the text area where the "floating text" may be inserted.
Can you see some overlapping of the thick gray frame at the page borders and of the thin column frames? If yes, you should tweek the settings for the "Papierformat..." and the margin settings in the document inspector until there is no overlapping anymore.
But for today I am ready with my work. It's time to have a break.
Frank.

• Need help with Rollover Image cross browser problem

Hello,
I am having a cross browser problem with my websites rollover nav links.  The trouble is, while they work perfectly fine in IE8 and IE9, I’ve also attempted to use them through Opera, and they simply don’t work.  They don’t link nor do they do their rollover effect.  And I was trying to figure out what I have done wrong.  Currently the site is not completed, but the first two pages are, the “news” and “about me” pages are currently (as of right now) working.  The address to the site is below.
http://maxmetal.xsustudios.com/index.html
I hope that someone can help me with this, if needs be I can put the code for the CSS and HTML into this part if it will save some time for everyone.  Sorry too about the PNG images, I have to change those over to semi-transparent GIF’s yet so the site does take a while to load…
Hope someone can help me with this!
PALADIN

When I disable CSS in my browser, the rollover buttons work just fine.  This tells me your CSS is messed up and you've layered something over your menus which is making them inaccessible to users.
I noticed you've applied relative positioning to just about everything on your page.  Why?   Default CSS positioning (unspecified or static) is all you need for 98% of layouts.

My advice would be to start over using a pre-built CSS Template with all the divisions and columns you're likely to need for this project.  Below are some good links to get you on the right track.

• Embedded pictures in g-mail do not get thru when forwarded. Google claims it's a browser problem. how do I fix this?

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, Firefox 3.6.16
This problem started up about 4 months ago. I thought it was a Google problem, but Google claims it's a browser problem. The same problem happens with Internet Explorer. I checked the Google website and many people are having this same problem. And Google is totally unresponsive.
Attached pictures go thru fine, but if I get an e-mail from someone with embedded pictures in the message, when I forward that message, the receiver does not get the pictures...only a red X in a blank box.
How can this be fixed?

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

• CS6 Media Browser Problem

When using the Media Browser in Premiere Pro to view files in a folder that contains many files (100+), the browser keeps jumping back to the beginning after viewing a few of dozen files.  I then have to scroll back down to the last place I was and then I can continue a little further before the browser jumps back to the beginning again.   The files do not open instantly -- there is a finite time where the message "processing ..." is displayed.  I gave up before getting to the end.   I doubt that I have an under-resourced computer since it is a i7-3770K with 32GB RAM and a GTX670 card.  Is there a limit to the number of files that can be viewed in the Media Browser?  Any suggestions?
Thanks
P.S.  Just did a search on the problem and I see that it is a well known issue.

Hi guys !
Just wanted to post because we had the same problem on 4 different computers with different configurations.
It was really annoying to have this jumping/refreshing media browser problem. At a point, that this browser was useless.
Then we had a problem with droping sound editing r3d code... Kind of a deal breaker, when the company claims that you can edit 4K r3d files no ?
We finally figured out that the Media Cache and the Media Cache files NEEDS to stay in the original folders (C:\Users\nameofuser\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common).
Even if everybody on the web tells you to dedicate a single SSD just for the media cahe, it won't work for Premiere pro. DON'T MOVE THOSE FOLDERS !
Removing those folders to the original place (C:\Users\nameofuser\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common) [again]  solved the problem for us. Hope it will work for you guys.
Don't blame Adobe, i'm sure they'll read my post to fix this in the next version of premiere

• DW CS3 site cache problem

I upgraded to CS3 with no problems except I now find that if
I attempt to delete a word of pdf file that I know is linked to an
htm page, DW no longer gives me a warning message. This means that
If I do a sync. any updated word or pdf files do not get uploaded
to the server. If I do re-create the site cache the files still do
not get "re-linked". Anybody got an idea what is going on? I have
an awful lot of pdfs and docs linked from my site.
Thanx in advance

I figured out if I drag the file window to the left it will
stay on the left. I thought
before in previous version when you select files to be on the
left the preferences menu they would go to the left. Problem
solved.

• Dreamweaver CS6 edits to old Front Page site display in preview browser but NOT on live server site.

Howdy Folks,
My Dreamweaver CS6 edits to old Front Page site changes display in preview browser OK …But will NOT display on live server site.
To anyone who can step up to the microphone and speak “solution” I will be much grateful?

Are you sure you are uploading the pages to the correct location?
Could you post a screen capture of your expanded files window, showing the remote server and local file structures?
I'm guessing they're not identical and that you may be uploading to a redundant root folder.

• I need help with a browser problem

I am was given a new iMac G3 (from 2001) which was really never used.I have not yet had any serious problems with it, but really could use some help with a browser problem.
I have 4 different web browsers that needs the macro media flash player update. The browsers I use are internet explorer, iCab, Netscape, and the original Mozilla Firefox.
It would be of great appreciation for the readers of this post to answer my question.
I am also having the problem with installing the plug - ins for the browsers. Thank You For Taking the Time To read This!

Hi, rynodino -
As Tom has suggested, plugins need to be installed in the Plug-Ins folder for the browser.
Typically each browser will have its own Plug-Ins folder, usually located in the same folder containing the browser itself. In order for each of several browsers to access the same plugins, the plugins must be replicated and placed in each of the Plug-Ins folders for each of the browsers. The easy way to do that is to hold down the Option key while dragging a plugin to the new location - a copy (not an alias) of the plugin will be generated at the location it is dragged to.
Most plugins will display a Netscape icon regardless of where they are located - this is normal.
It is not unusual for the installer for a plugin to default its install to the Plug-Ins folder for Internet Explorer. So be it. Just replicate the new plugin to the other Plug-Ins folders as needed.
Note that some plugin installs will involve more than one item. For those, be sure to replicate all items for it. Using labels can help identify what is new, what has been most recently added, in a Plug-Ins folder.

• Avoiding preview stuttering problems

I am creating a new post here as I marked the last one I posted on this subject as answered.
In that post I asked would a new graphics card help to eliminate the severe stuttering caused by my windows xp machine (2 intel P4 processors 3.2) failing to decompress the MP4 files from my Sony NEX-5 quickly enough? The answer was an unequivocal NO as it was the processors, not the card.
Since then I have been doing some experimentation:
I downloaded trial versions of Cyberlink Power Director and Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10. The latter stuttered worse than PE but the Cyberlink app had almost faultless previews - no stuttering. Unfortunately it is a pretty horrible programme otherwise, and any case I am used to Premiere having use an early version of PP for years, so I experimented some more:
In PE I created a project with a project setting of PAL-AVCHD-HD 1081i25, loaded some MP4 clips taken with theNEX 5 on the MP4 1440 x 1080 setting and then burnt the project to DVD.
I then saved the movie as an AVI, removed the original MP4 clips and imported the AVI file I had just made. The project asked me if I wanted to change the project settings to match the clip and and I said yes. I then burned this to a DVD.
I then deleted the AVI clip and imported the original MP4 clips (into what is now effectively a PAL-DV-Widescreen 48KHz project setting I imagine). This time I was not asked if I wanted to change the settings but a red line appeared above the clips indicating they needed rendering. I rendered them and  - voila! No stuttering - perfectly smooth preview of the MP4 clips. I then burned this to DVD.
Next I compared the DVDs on a Sony 42inch HD TV. No difference! All three of very good quality, at least to my eyes..
So what is happening here? When I rendered the clips in the PAL DV project was it turning them into  AVI files because of the project settings? And is it that the first DVD (with the MP4 clips straight from the camera), which I would have expected to be of better quality than the other two, was not actually producing a HD DVD inspite of the camera and project setting?
Is the only way I am going to get true HD to set the camera to AVCHD and burn to Blu-Ray?
If any one has knowledge of these things I would love to hear from you as while I seem to have found an answer to the stuttering I would love to know what is going on and if I am fooling myself. Many thanks.

Thanks for the reply.
I have not explained myself very well.
There is no problem with the DVDs - whatever settings I use to edit, the DVDs play very well, smooth and reasonably high quality in my estimation..
And as far as I know there is no interlacing going on as I am not using the camera's highest avchd setting (which is interlaced), only the 1440x1080 MP4.
The problem is with the editing previews, which when I open an HD project and import my MP4 camera files is very jerky to the point of being almost unusable at times, with long waits during operations. A look in Window Task Manager shows both CPUs maxing out all the time. According to the reply I had from an earlier post, this is because my CPUs are not up to the job of decompressing the MP4 files on the fly.
What I have found is that if I import my MP4 files into a project with DV settings, I get a red line above the timeline. If I then render the clips, the editing improves dramatically - no stuttering at all and no long waits after mouse clicks or key presses and the CPUs only working at about 50%. Of course it can take a while to render a number of clips, but I can go and do something else while that is happening and when I return the editing goes like clockwork.
My question is - what is happening to the quality of the video? I cannot see any difference in output (DVDs) whatever project settings I use, they all seem equally good. So hopefully I have found an answer to the preview stuttering problem. But I suspect I am not getting real HD from any of them. To do this I imagine I need to set the camera to AVCHD rather than 1440x1080 MP4 and burn to Blu-ray. This I have not tried yet as I do not have a Blu-Ray burner.
My problem is my ignorance of what PE is doing to the MP4 files when it renders them. And why, if I set the project settings to HD 1080i25 instead of PAL DV and work directly on the unrendered MP4 clips (and put up with the stuttering) do I not see a visible increase in quality when I burn the DVD? Is there some sort of levelling going on during the DVD coding?
