CS3 Printing Custom Print sizes since update 10.5.5

I'm running adobe CS3 on an intel 24"imac with all of the latest updates. When 10.5.5 was released I updated this computer. I used to be able to tell indesign to print a custom page size and type that information for the size on the indesign print dialog (not the page setup button on the print dialog). Now when I print from Indesign, I am able still able to type in custom page size but the printer only prints based on the default page size. It's as if indesign is not telling the postscript printer that there is a custom size. All other programs work correctly except for adobe products. I removed cs3 and re-installed it and that didn't help. I'm printing to a Harlequin rip 8.0. Thanxs.

Having the same issue with custom page sizes (CS3/10.5.5). This is not the same issue that is resolved by using "Defined by driver" in CS3 apps. That problem affected Fiery-based RIPs and was introduced with Leopard.
MacFixIt.com (http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20080917093457409) is running a story on it with some success stories. I've already restarted CUPS, reinstalled the printers, repaired disk permissions and tried the "Defined by driver" approach (that doesn't work so well when you want to print custom page sizes to a platesetter or large format).
Next is reinstalling CUPS (http://www.cups.org/ddk/software.php), then reverting back to 10.5.4 (if I can figure out how).
All the while, Apple will blame Adobe and the printer driver, Adobe will blame Apple and the printer driver, and our prepress grinds to a halt.

  • Custom Page Size Printing Error Since Updating to Mavericks

    Can anyone help me please...
iMac 10.9.4, with Adobe CS4 suite and Adobe CC Suite installed.
I have recently updated to Mavericks and since the update my custom page sizes no longer print at 100%, custom sizes all get scaled down (i presume to fit sheet) and leave me unable to print jobs out at correct size.
The custom page sizes work for builtin apps such as Preview, but my CS4 suite no longer work correctly. I have also tried using Acrobat CC and that gives me the same issues too.
I have googled the problem but have not found a solution and it seems i am not alone either.
Please help as this is rendering my ability output as useless.
    All the best
    Andy Barrington

This problem is from all Adobe CC & CS4 products i use: indesign, illustrator, photoshop, and acrobat.
My main staple work process is using pdf exported from indesign then printed using acrobat.

  • HP Photosmart C5550 won't print envelopes, only letter size since updating to new Mac OS Mavericks.

Since updating to new Mac OS Mavericks and the new driver for the printer, I can only print on letter-sized paper.  When I try to print a 6x9 envelope, it gives me an error saying my paper size doesn't match, and I have to cancel the printing.  Before updating, it worked.

I was having that trouble for a very long time until today.
Using Microsoft Office Word, I did page setup and chose "Envelope #10 4.1x9.5in" for a standard long envelope. I had to do NOTHING to the printer and it worked great the first time.
Bottom line, it's all in the program you are using.
If you get an error stating you have the wrong media size, try using a different program.

  • Printer Problems since updateing to WIndows 8.1

Before I updated to Windows 8.1 the other month everything was fine on my new laptop then I went to scan something from my HP Photosmart B109n and it didn't work because the driver was now missing and the HP app that replace the HP printer manager is useless.
On the advice of the HP site I tried to download the new driver but it wouldn't go, it said I had to remove the exsisting installation but when I try it just restarts the computer but is still there afterwards. It turns out that the uninstall has gone missing from the current and the install is missing from the install program I have downloaded.
As a last resort I used the sytem restore but not only has the printer issues not changed but now some of the pre-loaded apps won't work and are asking for the Developers Licence to be renewed.
I am at a lost as to what to do next - please help!

Your notebook isn’t known to me but in case of Win 8.1 update you should check this Toshiba update to Win 8.1 page: http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/gen...ws8_1-message/
There you can check if the Win 8.1 is supported on your notebook and how to perform the step-by-step update to Windows 8.1
Some drivers must be uninstalled and updated after the Win 8.1 update installation!
    Regarding your printer issue:
Every printer manufacturer provides own drivers for the Windows system.
It’s not known to me if HP released compatible Win 8.1 drivers for the own Photosmart B109n printer but to be honest this issue isn’t related to the Toshiba notebook. If you have problems using HP printer in connection with Win 8.1, you should visit the printer manufacturer support page to get some workarounds and troubleshooting tips.

  • Pages 09 not printing graphics since updating to snow leopard

I've updated to 10.6.2 but I am unable to print templates with graphics to my Xerox 6520 DP printer. Reloaded the drivers but still not working. Will go ck with Xerox to see if they are issuing a new release driver or not. I tried opening a template within Pages and I get the same result of "error printing" no number along with it. Tried doing a save as PDf and get the same printing error. Anyone have any ideas?

Repair permission is something I do after a major installation. Do that.
Are you able to print from other applications, i.e. TextEdit?
If not, can you print from another account? You can create a new account from Accounts in the System preferences.
It might be the driver that needs an update but that is outside my knowledge.

  • Printer issue since update towards Yosemite

    Hello,
I have a Ricoh Aficio SP C240sf which was working pretty fine.
Since I've upgraded my iMac towards Yosemite, it's not working anymore.
I'm continuously getting "Stop - filter failed".
I've deleted the printer, reinstalled the driver and reinstalled the printer.
(Unfortunately, the driver is not available in the App store so I had to download it from the vendor's website.)
    It's still not working.
    What can I do?
    Thanks a lot!

Search here for similar Ricoh threads. A few possibilities:
    1) Use the PCL driver (Re: Yosemite breaks Ricoh/Lanier Aficio SP C240DN)
    2) Use Matt Broughton's foomatic rip (Re: Ricoh MP C2500 not printing after upgrading to Yosemite)
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe PDF Printer crashes since Update to 10.4.6 (Intel)

When I try to print to the Adobe PDF Printer (Acrobat Pro 7.07) the system freezes constantly; I can then only succesfully reboot into the single user mode. Complete optimization AND cache cleaning has to be performed then (I use Onyx 1.7); otherwise the MacBook Pro would crash sooner or later when booting into the multi user mode.
I replaced the /System/Library/Fonts-Folder with the Fonts-Folder from the installation disk and deleted the home/Library/Fonts and /Library/Fonts-folder with no effect at all. Deleting my home-folder did not help either. Reinstallation of Adobe Acrobat didn´t change anything. A fresh install (keeping my home folder and the system settings) was also a useless effort.
Do you have any suggestions, please ?

It seems to me, I´ve got nothing from Adobe in my Startup-Folder:
    /System/Library/Startupitems:
    AppleShare
    Apache
    Disks
    IFCStart
    SNMP
    Metadata
    IPServices
    NFS
    NIS
    NetworkTime
    AppServices
    FibreChannel
    PrintingServices
    RemoteDesktopAgent
    CrashReporter
    AuthServer
    /Library/StartupItems:
    Qmaster
    Parallels *)
    M-Audio Firmware Loader *)
    MAudioTransitUSB *)
*) Deletion of these non-Apple Items doesn´t have any effect.
In fact, I tried the solutions I found in the discussions and on Maxfixit.com without any effect. BTW, opening a ps2-file in Acrobat Pro 7.07 and saving it as a pdf works .

  • Printing problem since updating to 10.1.2

Running Adobe Reader 10.1.2 with Windows XP Professional and a Dell 924 All-In-One Printer -
When I print a PDF document, I get a series of light blue, evenly-spaced horizontal lines across graphics, diagrams & illustrations, but not text.
Previous to Uninstalling/Reinstalling Adobe Reader last night, lines were printing across text as well.
Additional Observation: If Printer Advanced settings has "Print as Image" checked, blue lines cover text as well; Unchecked, only graphics, diagrams & illustrations, but not text.
Anyone else having similar problem? Fix?

    Hi,
Would it be possible for you to let me know the following details:
    1. Have you tried to re-install the Printer Driver?
    2. Have you tried printing from any other application. Do you see the same results?
    3. Could you try and see if Solution 2 on http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/928/cpsid_92870.html helps (i.e. Turning Duplex Printing OFF.) It could be a case wherein your printer does not support Duplex Printing and that might be causing the issue.
    Thanks
    Ankit

    Hi jspoliz,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some printing issues when attempting to print from the Internet using Internet Explorer.
Are you able to print from any program on the computer?
Try using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome when printing from the web and see if that makes a difference.
Write me back when you have time and I will be happy to help.

  • Since updating to Yosemite and CS6 2 of my print options are greyed out on my epson R2880 print pane?

My colour and colour settings options are 'greyed out' on my  Epson printer pane since updating to Yosemite and CS6,this happened before after running a software update on the printer driver! The driver version at that time was 6.62 and now it has updated to version 9.00....could this be the problem??

That's strange ... did you try restarting before printer install? You also may need to delete the printer itself (System Preferences > Printers & Scanners) and add it again , in order to access the proper drivers (?)
Can you show screen shot(s) of your incomplete print dialog?

  • InDesign CS3 sluggish with 10.6.2 update

InDesign and other CS3 apps have become sluggish since updating to SL 10.6.2 on my Intel iMac 2.16. All worked fine in 10.6.1. Now performing basic tasks like opening a new file, new frames and pasting text cause the beach ball to spin 3-8 seconds. Apple tech support says I need to upgrade to CS4, yet why did CS3 work fine in 10.6.1 which also is not supported by Adobe for CS3? Anyone else experiencing this?

  • Konica Minolta magicolor 7450 Unable to print to Custom paper sizes

    Hi
I have a Konica Minolta magicolor 7450 laser printer that (since switching to mac from windows) is unable to print to Custom paper sizes (entered in the print dialog box from within photoshop CS3) and nothing will print from illustrator CS3 at all.
I have OS 10.5.2 with the 10.1 photoshop update, and the 13.0.2 illustrator update.
When I use to use windows xp & photoshop CS2 I didn't seem to have trouble with this function, but since jumping over to mac & CS3, I can't print on any paperstock other than the defult sizes listed (which it dose perfectly) - I've re downloaded & installed the printers driver, downloaded & installed a firmware update for the printer and tried printing with a network cable & usb cable - all with no luck. I've also tried entering in the custom paper size in the printers LCD panel & setting in as default but it still wants to print on A4 or A3 paper...
Any ideas out there would be appreciated!

so I've been pulling my hair out for 2 days & nights now trying to figure out why I couldnt print on custom paper sizes - I've just now hit the "help" icon in the print dialog box and found this:
    "Creating a custom page size
If you want to print on unusual size paper, such as an odd-size envelope or card, you may be able choose the paper’s size from the Paper Size pop-up menu. To find the Paper Size pop-up menu, choose File > Page Setup, if available. Otherwise, choose File > Print.
If you can’t find the size you need, you can create your own custom paper size.
To create a custom page size:
Open the document you want to print.
Choose File > Page Setup, if it’s available. Choose Page Attributes from the Settings pop-up menu, and then choose Any Printer from the Format For pop-up menu.
Choosing Any Printer ensures that your document can print on any printer that supports the paper size you select.
If Page Setup is not available, choose File > Print.
If the Print dialog contains only two pop-up menus and some buttons across the bottom, click the disclosure triangle beside the Printer pop-up menu.
Choose Manage Custom Sizes from the Paper Size pop-up menu.
    Click the Add button.
Type a name for the paper size.
Enter values in the Paper Size and Printer Margins field."
All I had to change was the "any printer" setting from my (konica minolta) printers name to "Any Printer"!! now my custom paper sizes are printing fine and dandy!! phew!!!!!!!!

  • Printing Issue - Custom Media Sizes, InDesign CC/Mac Mavericks

    Hi all,
I've got a strange problem that I hope someone can provide some insight to.  Perhaps this is a bug, but I'd rather ensure that there isn't something here that I haven't understood.
I have a project that I periodically modify and re-print on custom size media (3.25" x 7.36").  I've used the same Id document and workflows since, probably, Id 2 or 3, updating each time to the latest versions.  The problem may be in the way Id CC interacts with the MacOS X printing system.  The printer in question is a Xerox 8550.
The project is a one page table printed on this particular card stock.  What's happening is that the printable area on the stock isn't being fully used - the top and bottom of the media aren't being printed - thus the top and bottom of the content is being cut off, in a way that wasn't an issue previously.
The printer control panel prompts for and accepts the media size correctly (I believe these printers have checks to ensure media fed matches the printable area; the Phaser engine doesn't like printing "off the paper").
Again, the same document has been used for many years, so I've tried the following steps to isolate and remediate the problem:
Document Setup: Custom Page Size, verify correct for media.
Print dialog: "Page Setup..." format for (custom media size defined for OS X), also verified to be correct for media.
Print dialog: "Setup", paper size Width and Height, correct; orientation correct, offset and gap 0p0, scale 100%.
    Print dialog: PPD correct.
Recreated document, re-entering sizes and verifying setup.  No change.
Created a test document, with same settings, and a scale extending outside of the printable area.  The specs for (and my experience with) the printer are that the printable area is 5mm from the edge of the paper.  The result of the test is that the content is cut off at 10-11mm from the edge instead.
Exported PDF from Id.  Printed using Preview, same OS X page setup configuration.  Printer prompts for correct media size.  Content in test file prints as expected, to 5mm from media edge.
Printed test document from Acrobat XI, using "Actual Size", "Choose paper source by PDF page size", and "Use custom paper size when needed".  Printer prompts for correct media size, content prints as expected, again, to 5mm from media edge.
So, in brief, exported PDF prints properly (and this is a workaround), but it's a pain that Id has this issue.  All software involved is up to date.  I haven't tried to dig into the PPD, as PostScript isn't one of my areas of strength, but I'm reasonably sure it's correct.  I've also tried a similar test using Letter-size paper, and that also prints to 5mm.
I'd love to get some feedback on this.  Many thanks.

For what its worth, I've been trouble shooting this issue with Adobe / Xerox / Apple for some time now. Here are my findings so far:
--------------------------------------------------Adobe's final response after a very long help ticket--------------------------------------------------------
This Email is in regards to the case related to the adobe application and Printing issue ,
As checked we were able to see that application  is able to create the document with correct size , when checked within Adobe Pdf properties the size was showing as per document specification and when we tried to print the same , the document was showing the same values carried forwarder to the printer and in the preview it was showing the same specific setting of the document size in the printer previewer
It was during the printing process the same value are not being calculated correctly as per our interaction ,  you were able to use the same in the previous version of Mac  10.8. 5 , please check if there is any update available for the 10.9 version of mac and if it would work on the same ,we would request you to contact your printer help support for the same we are leaving the case open and would request you to call us back if there is any further issue  on  800 833 66 87

In Acrobat or Adobe Reader, choose File > Print, go to Page Setup and create a custom page size of 8" x 9.5".
In the Acrobat dialog, set the size to "Actual size".
Print this to the device, note that the image is about 7" x 10".
Interestingly, in the Acrobat dialog, if "Choose paper source by PDF page size" is selected, the previewed page size is not that of the document, but instead shows 10.13" x 7.17".  This size will change if different printers are selected.
Scaling is not an issue when printing to standard page sizes.
I was able to recreate the issue on a Mac running OS 10.9.1 using the Xerox 7800 print driver. I then tested on Mac OS 10.9.1 using a generic Postscript driver and also recreated the issue.  This indicated that this is not a Xerox driver issue.  I then tested on a Mac OS 10.8.5 using the same Xerox 7800 driver version and it worked as expected without scaling the image.
Mac OS 10.8.5 uses CUPS version 1.6.2 for printing where 10.9.1 uses CUPS version 1.7.  I believe this is a CUPS issue and you will need to work with Apple to resolve it.

--------------------------------------------------Apple's response, after an escalated ticket--------------------------------------------------------
While using 10.92 with Xerox Phaser 7800DN (2.94.1 PPD - Installed via Software Update), PDF at a custom page size was sent to spool folder via Preview was correctly sized, however the document produced by Adobe Reader appears to be icorrect. When using Preview the PDF printed to a custom page size at 100% scale comes out the proper size.

**this is a paraphase of what the engineer (Clay) sent back to Carol West who was assisting in my help ticket. She was not allowed to send me the engineer's findings in email, she was only allowed to read it to me over the phone as I typed it out.
Basically go back to Adobe and ask for help there. I guess at least the circle is closed as I am back to where I started.
