CS3 Printing with Vista 64

I just purchased a new Dell with Vista 64 running on it.  I just tried to print for the first time with CS3 and all the print functions are "grayed out" and will not function.  My printer, Canon i9900, seems to work OK on Nikon NX2, so why not on CS3?  What setting am I missing here?
Thank you in advance.

Have you got printer drivers compatible with Vista 64?
You may need to look on the Canon site for new ones. That's what I did with Epson.

placed QuarkXpress 7 eps into InDesign CS3 prints with slanted type
The problem may be in the HP print drivers.
Printing to Epson printers works, printing to HP 132, 5000 or 2200 produces slanted type, even at Adobe.
Printing to disk as a Postscript printer and then printing the ps file using the pdf printer works fine.

I have installed Windows Vista 64-bit on a new computer (HP of course) and want to be able to use HP's "Smart Web Printing" software.  I have used it quite a bit on a Windows XP machine and love it.  Looking at the download page, it appears that the Smart Web Printing software is not compatible with Vista 64-bit.  Is this correct?  Will a new version be coming out that will be compatible?
Have you tried installing it anyways and see what happens?

  • InDesign CS3 freezing with Vista

Recently upgraded to Vista 32bit. InDesign CS3 files are freezing.  Unable to open files again even after ending program and rebooting computer. Help.

Once I try to open an .indd file, InDesign keeps trying to open it
without success. I have to reboot my computer to get it InDesign to
open. When it does open, it shows all functions but it won't open any
files. Tried moving the Suitcase folder to another location but
couldn't. Had difficulty just getting the fonts to work in the
beginning.  Do you advise uninstalling InDesign and then reinstalling?
Is this a compatibility problem with this version of Vista?  Should I
    consider upgrading to CS4?

  • Sharing XP printer with Vista computer

Hi, I recently ran into this problem at home, and I thought I'd share it here so hopefully it might help someone in the future.
I recently bought a T61, and was setting it up to work in my home network.  All was well untill I tried to connect to my printer.  My printer is connected to another computer, running Windows XP Pro.  Everytime I tried connecting, it would tell me my computer was low on memory, please close some programs and try again.  Well I have 3GB of memory, so that isn't an issue.  It turns out, that since the printer is connected to an XP computer, it will try installing the xp driver on my computer, and my computer will reject it (I run Vista Ultimate).  These are the steps to fix this problem.
    1. Download/Install the latest Vista drivers for your printer
    2. go to add new printer
    3. Select Local Printer (not network printer)
    4. Select create new port
    5. For the name of the port, put the path of the printer (eg. \\DELLHOME\LEXMARK X215)
    6. When it asks to look for the drivers, choose have disks, then point to the location where you installed the drivers
    7. Voila!  you are now set up to print over your network.
    T61 15.4" T9300 (2.5GHz 6MB L2) Windows 7 Professional x64 4GB Memory, NVidia Quadro NVS 140M

I had the same problem, installed Bonjour on the windows computer and was able to print right away... no reboot required using the generic driver for a canon mp470 printer on the mac pro.
    Thanks!

  • Dark Prints with Photoshop CS3 and CS4 but not Lightroom

Hi, To start,I have calibrated my dell monitor with eye-one pro as well as my epson 7800. i am running vista 64 bit on my PC...
When i use photoshop (CS3 or CS4) the images look fine on the screen and come out really dark on the printer. When i use lightroom, the images look fine on the screen and fine on the printer.
Any guidance on how to "fix" photoshop would be appreciated. By the way, in photoshop print dialogue, i color manage the document, photoshop manages the color, the printer profile is set to the I-1 custom printer profile, rendering is perceptual, and black point compensation is checked.
    Thanks,
    Joe

I manage color and service bureau printing at the college I work for, and we've been fighting the upgrade to CS4 for some time. Here's what we have so far.
Apple dual G5 machine with 10.5.8
    Adobe PS CS3
    Adobe PS CS4
3 x Epson 4800 Pro printers using an IP connection and using Driver version #6.11
We manage color with custom created profiles in eyeOne with eyeOne pro hardware.
When moving to CS4 for printing prints have gond dark and the color has taken an odd shift.
When printing with CS3, we get consistent color and density
All things being equal in the print settings for each version of PS.
I have heard that CS4 addresses the printing system differently (using an updated printing api from Apple) is this true?
When running prints from within another app (any app really) that prints directly through the OS, we get similar results as CS4.
The best explaination that we've been able to get is that the (epson) print driver is operating on the older api calls, and that when the OS (or CS4) is operating on the newer calls, the color and density issues arise.
    Can anyone verify this?

  • Problem printing with Lightroom using Vista

I just recently upgraded my XP system to a Vista 64 bit system. I print
digital photos using Adobe Lightroom 1.4. With my XP system, I had a
good match between my calibrated monitor (NEC 2690) and my printer (HP
B9180) working in the ProPhoto RGB color space using LR. I use ICC profiles (mostly HP Advanced Photo Paper) and let the Lightroom application manage the color. With Vista, I've lost my match. Skin tones look great on my monitor and now print with a red tint. A blue sky prints with a purple cast. I tried Lightroom Beta 2 but no difference. I'm using NEC's SpectraView II calibration software which is 64 bit compatible.
My workflow is to import the raw file into LR. After initial editing I then external edit the file in CS3 as a TIFF. If I print this TIFF file from CS3, it does match my monitor. If I print this same TIFF file from LR (my preference because of the print templates), skin tones look sunburned. If I export the TIFF file from LR as a JPG and print from CS3, it also matches my monitor. I reviewed my color management settings many times and can't find what's causing this problem.

I had the 'opposite' problem when I installed Vista 64. I had a perfect match with XP, Samsung SyncMaster 225BW, and B9180 printer. The monitor profile was created using Spyder 2 Pro. With Vista 64 my prints were desaturated. By increasing saturation by about +30 I had a reasonable but still not 'perfect' match.
I found and installed the Photoshop CS3 patch for the 64bit B9180 driver thinking it might be a solution, but that didn't change anything WRT the printer/monitor match when using Lightroom. I then tried printing from CS3 but had exactly the same mismatch. I then fell back to the first 'old standby', I uninstalled all of the HP printer software and then re-installed the printer software and the Photoshop CS3 patch. Problem solved. YMMV

  • Printing Issues on PSC 1210xi with Vista thru DI-724U Router

I have a D-Link DI-724U router that has a built-in print server function.  I have used it for several years with XP machines, and it works perfectly for running my HP PSC 1210xi printer.  I just bought a new Vista machine, and I set up the printer.  However, the printer freezes at the bottom of the first page every time I print.
I tried setting up the printer a few different ways on the vista machine:
    1) I first set it up using the router's printer setup utility.  No luck.
    2) As a check, I connected the printer directly to the vista machine via USB, and it printed fine.
    3) Then I tried setting it as a network printer through vista's print wizard.  No luck.
    4) Then I connected the USB directly to the vista machine again, set it up, verified it worked, then moved the printer back to the DI-724U and changed the printer port configuration to go through the IP port.  No luck.
    5) I also borrowed a 2nd vista machine to try it again to make sure it wasn't a problem specific to the machine.  Same issue.
    Any other ideas?

In case anyone else has this same issue, I found the following solution for a linksys printserver, and it ended up working for the d-link printserver as well.  It was posted by flatlander on http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/onecarefirewall/thread/7b00d5f4-ca5e-40bb-a27d-6f37fa553b10. Here it is:
On LinkSys blog at http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wireless_Print_Servers&message.id=859 the following work around was posted by Mermaid3193 on 12 19 07:
After trying for several hours to get the Wireless printserver WPS54G installed under Windows Vista, I finally made it work. Below is the step by step process...
    1) Download the setup utility
    2) Run the utility and record the IP address it lists is for your printer
    3) Add your printer
       A) For your install type it is a Wireless/Bluetooth/Network Printer
       B) Select my printer is not displayed text
       C) Select TCP/IP under the connection type and make sure the device type is set to TCP/IP. (Also, uncheck the option to automaticaly determine your printer driver)
        D) Fill in the IP address you used and make the port name IP_(your IP address)
       E) When it asks about the device type select custom and set the printer type to LPR with a que name of P1 or possibly L1.
       F) After the printer is installed, right-click on it in the printers folder and goto properties.
       G) From the properties page goto Ports and disable bi-directional printing.
       F) Still in the properties page goto advanced and select print directly to Printer.
    4) Run a test print and ensure that everything works as it should.

  • Printing Problems with Vista (Wireless)

So I just got the Airport setup for the office network and everything is working perfectly. However, I am having problems printing with my laptop (wireless). Laptop is running Vista. I setup Bonjour and the document prints however whenever there is color, the file becomes corrupt and the actual print comes out distorted. This does not happen when I connect directly with a cable to the Airport.
I bought the Airport specifically for this feature and now that it does not work correctly is driving me nuts. Thanks for the help.

An IP address starting with 169 indicates that the computer did not properly communicate with the DHCP server. Therefore the computer assigns itself a random 169.x.y.z IP address.
Do you have MAC address filtering enabled on the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS)? If so the best thing to do is disable it. Or you could add the wireless MAC address of the PC to the list of allowed clients.

  • Share printer with XP and Vista

I have an HP psc 2110xi connected to a PC running XP. This PC is connected (hardwired) to a Linksys wireless router. Another PC running Vista is connected to the wireless network. I am trying to share the printer with the Vista PC. Is this possible??????I fear it is not but await confirmation from any guru willing to commit him/her self.........

    hello,
yes, it is possible since your host computer is the XP. make sure the firewall is turned off. try to ping the computer first with each other to make sure that the computers are communicating well with each other.
    go to printers and faxes
right click on the printer driver and click Sharing.
put a check mark on Share this printer.
take note of the share name.
then from your vista computer type \\ xp ip address.
    for example, \\192.168.1.100
the printers and faxes window of the XP will show up.
right click on the driver and click Connect.
    try to print.
    keep me informed please..

  • CS3 Web Premium Suite compatible with Vista 64 bit?

Greeting folks. I realize this is not a Photoshop specific question, but does anyone use CS3 Web Premium Suite on Vista 64? If so, do you have any problems with any of the programs?
I'm contemplating upgrading from Vista 32 to Vista 64.
    Thanks!

I just got the Adobe Master Collection CS3 to run on a Dell Workstation (quad core processor, 2GB RAM) with Vista 64 Business. Photoshop is deathly slow, to the point of being unusable. It takes up to 2 minutes just to load the programme. Clicking menu items or drop-down buttons produces no response for about 5 secs. I created a blank layer and tried to draw a simply brush stroke across it - again, a 5 sec delay before the stroke appeared. This makes it impossible to do any useful work. Other parts of the package are better (e.g. Dreamweaver, Illustrator) but Bridge is slow and I have a subjective impression that some of my none Adobe programme are now running more slowly. I did look at CPU and memory utilization - never got about 60% and was mostly around 10%.
When I run the Photoshop CS3 trial on an AMD duo core computer with only 1GB RAM (which is running XP Pro), I get a much snappier response. Makes me suspect a Vista issue.
Since others appear to be having much better success, I would be very interested in any tips, etc. which I might try.
    Thanks.

  • Printing with a USB printer using Airport Extreme and Vista

I have a airport extreme and it prints fine with all of my Macs.
I bought a VAIO installed with Vista and the lastest service pack. Here is what I have done
    * Installed Bonjour Printing software on the Windows Machine
    * Installed the print drivers on the Windows Machine
    * Bonjour finds the printer and driver without any problem
    * When I test the printer will print either one page or half of one page and then I get an error message.
    * I enabled the UDP 5353 port in the Firewall
The printer is a Epson Photo R220
I have no problems with the Macintosh works great and I have no problems with the Windows machine connecting to the Airport for internet usage.
If anyone out there has a solution I would very appreciative.
    Thanks

No help from the forum. I used Bonjour for Windows.

  • Cs3 problem printing with mavericks

    cs3 problem printing with mavericks

    Hello @arcticbear38,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're receiving a small portion on the left hand side of a document missing on both printers. I will do my best to assist you! Does this happen when you print from one program or many program(s)?
Both of these printers are not indicating low on ink? I would recommend resetting the printing system on your computer by following this Apple document here. I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night!

  • Illustrator CS3 not compatible with Vista

I downloaded the trial version of Illustrator CS3 because my previous program - Freehand, is not compatible with Vista. The Adobe site stated that Illustrator was capable of importing and editing Freehand files so I gave it a try.
Well, it does import the files with only a few minor font issues. BUT, when you try to SAVE or EXPORT it returns the error message: "can't save illustration". In other words, you can import, work, design, etc. but when it comes time to save or export your work, you can't. So the program is completely worthless.
Adobe should have made this bug or conflict clear before releasing the product with Vista compatibility and stating that it could import Freehand 9 files. What good is importing the files if you can't save them after making the changes?
I would caution anybody to wait until there is a patch or at least try the trial version before spending a lot of time and money on a program, only to find you can not save or export your work!

    >I finished editing a project in 2.0 and installed CS3 to finish. Now when I try to render the project it crashes and then I when I restart all of my media is unlinked so I relink save, crash, repeat forever. I guess I need to reinstll 2.0 this CS crap isn't working for me.
I had a similar problem. I started a 60-minute documentary under Premiere 6.5 and finished it in Pro 2.0. Nightmares!
I thus recommend starting and finishing each project in one version. I also recommend that when you get a version of Premiere running well on a particular system and you want to upgrade, you build an entirely new system and upgrade on THAT sys. Keep the old system because you have possibly scores or hundreds of hours into getting it to work perfectly. Sell these old systems off as turn-key systems to editors that are less experienced and don't need the power (yet). I have been doing this and it works out well. I am also developing a chain of trainees who will someday be able to COMPLETELY TAKE OVER MY EDITING POST AND THUS RELEASE ME FROM THIS HELL (so I can go back to producing and directing).
