CS3 Pro ; Export Text Template

Hello. I am new to Premiere altogether. I am wondering if it's entirely possible to export an Adobe Premiere title template as a .psd file, and if this is possible, how can I do it?
You see, for some reason, Premiere is being highly incosistent recognizing a lot of my videos that I have taken with Fraps. I was told on the Fraps forums to try using a different software, most specifically, Camtasia Studios.
All of my videos depend on a specific text template that can only be found within Adobe Premiere, so I am wondering if it is at all possible to either:
A) Use it with a different program
or:
B) Export is as a .psd file so I can modify it to my will in photoshop and then put it on my footage in Camtasia studio.
Thanks so much!

In PrPro, you can Save your Title as a Template (PTRL) file, and this is available from the Toolbar's Title drop-down. You will then be able to use this Template in other Projects (choose Title>Based on Template>User Templates). You can still edit that Text, as is needed. If you need multiple such Titles (not just instances of the one), repeat the above, Name them as is appropriate, and make the changes in Titler.
I have created and Saved many such Templates, with various Styles, for various uses, and then just Import them, as per above, Rename them to suit, and edit the Template Text, per my Project's requirements. Works a treat, is easy, allows access globally for all of your Projects, and has only one flaw, that I can see - no program, other than Titler in PrPro/PrE can edit a PRTL file. Still, Titler is pretty good, so that is only a tiny issue for me, as I would often like to have the full PRTL in Photoshop. I have filed Feature Requests for this over the years and versions, but must be the only person, who would like that capability.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • How can I make Premiere Pro handle Live Text Templates faster?

    Currently I have a an After Effects Project that is setup as a Text Template.  When I render out the "template" composition in AFX, it takes 8 seconds.  The same composition through Live Text in Premiere Pro takes 34 minutes.  This comp is 6 seconds, and I can't for the life of me explain, or fix, the time difference...  After Effects multi-frame processing is turned off, so that shouldn't be the issue... I'm at a lost... I don't mind rendering my titles out in After Effects, but it is much more convenient in Premiere Pro as the text fields are all in the same place.
    My computer is a custom Windows 8.1 Pro running Premiere Pro and After Effects CC 2014.1 with 64GB of RAM, a NVIDIA GeForce 680 2GB, and an Intel i7-3960X 3.30GHz processor.  I've noticed that when PPro is attempting to render, its task in the task manager never goes about 5% and the AfterFX one it creates never goes above 10% CPU usage.  The two applications also don't use much RAM, though I don't suppose they should need a lot seeing how it is a 6 second comp... But none the less, I've allocated 58GB to the Adobe Suite through the AFX preferences dialog.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    when I click the record button, the screen goes to a blue screen with Playing on video hardware
    This is normal for HDV.
    How do I also get the Scene Detect to work?
    With HDV?
    Upgrade to CS5.

  • Cannot export text using Acrobat 9 Pro

    Hello all,
    I have a .pdf file that I want to export as text using Acrobat 9 Pro.
    File / Export menu appears to offer this,  as does the help.   But mousing over the arrow to the right of the Export / Text menu
    brings up no options.  I can export as .ps if I want to,  but not text,  or html.
    Is this an installation option (I checked,  and I didn't see any option for this)?
    Or does the program refuse to export files with certain attributes?
    Or is my installation likely to be broken in some way?
    Best Regards,
    Adrian Stephens

    You can typically use the copy&paste or use Save As. I am not exactly sure what you mean by export other than one of these two options as suggested in the complete help (I am on AA8 here). It may be that there is no text to export. A lot of the older IEEE pubs are simply scans with no text. You would have to OCR the paper to get the text to export in such a case. If you posted a sample file, maybe we could be of more help.

  • Using Premiere Pro CS3 When exporting as flash file poor picture quality

    I'm using Premiere Pro CS3. I shoot green screen in HDV and work in 1440 x 1080. I have been capturing files in Premiere and sending them to Serious Magic Ulta 2. I use this program for keying and adding virtual backgrounds. I save these files as avi. with a resolution of 1440 X 1080. I then bring them back into Premiere Pro for final edit. When I export these video's encoded as mpeg2 theyplay very clear. I am now trying to export as flv. with alpha channel background and the resolution is poor. I working on the transparent background with walk on spokespersons that overlay the HTML page. When In try to play them on my computer the adobe media player is what comes up. I have downloaded flash player but it doesn't select it to play the video. I'm running windows Vista Business platform. What am I doing wrong.

    Thanks for the reply.
    The capture and editing have already been done in 1440 X 1080. Should I use this resolution rather than trying to bump it up to 1920 X 1080.
    Thanks

    Computer playback generally prefers square pixels.  Make sure to set your output resolution to 1920 x 1080 using a Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR) of 1.0 or Square.
    See if that helps.

  • Encoding and exporting text (JS CS3 MAC and PC)

    Hi -- I am trying to export text from InDesign as an ASCII file. But I am ending up with a zero K file.
    var myX = new File(myTarget);
    myX.encoding = "ASCII";
    myX.lineFeed = "unix";
    myX.open("w");
    myX.write(myString);
    myX.close();
    I have success with this:
    var myX = new File(myTarget);
    myX.encoding = "UTF-8";
    myX.lineFeed = "unix";
    myX.open("w");
    myX.write("\uFEFF" + myString);
    myX.close();
    But the person on the other end of the export says I need to convert UTF-8 to ASCII encoding.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    ANSI =/= ASCII
    If you have your string in Javascript, all you have to do is kick out all characters with a Unicode greater than 255. For "true" ASCII you also have to ditch all 8-bit characters, i.e. everything above code 127. It's straightforward to replace them with a '?'; you could make it nicer by replacing them with "acceptable" replacements for the most common characters, such as a straight double quote instead of double curlies, remove accents from Latin-1 characters, replacing en and em dashes with hyphens, etc. Even replacing the ellipsis with "..." wouldn't do no harm. But you're going to have to make some compromises.
    Is your client really okay with you sending "processed" text? Depending on what goes in, the output may or may not resemble anything coherent anymore. Imagine a phrase in Greek.
    >There are some utf-8 characters they cannot handle.
    Wot nonsense. "Some"!? It's All or Nothing, I'd say. If they send you a list of those they can, or cannot, you could make a better translation.
    >..  notes ..
    Wait, you have notes -- as in "footnotes"? That concept simply does not exist in ASCII, ANSI, or for that matter, in UTF-8.

  • Can't open projects or text template created in Ae cc with Pr cc

    Hi.
    I am new to After Effects (and pretty new to Premiere after converting from FCP7). I have edited a project in Premiere, have exported it into After Effects, added some text animation and now want to bring it back into Premiere. I have exported a Premiere project from After Effects and have imported it into Premiere. Everything looks right, but when I double click on the sequence in the new project, a timeline opens with nothing in it.
    As an attempted fudge (I'm against a deadline), I've also made a new project in After Effects and have copied and pasted my text animation into it. I then tried to open the file as a text template in Premiere. The composition appears in the Ae project folder in Pr, but when I open it in the timeline, it's black with no text, although the clip does run for the correct duration.
    I have to submit a film tonight, so if I can't solve the problem I'll have to do the credits again in Premiere, but obviously I need to fix this workflow problem anyway, so if anyone can shed some light I'd much appreciate it.
    Thanks.

    In order to import an After Effects sequence into Premiere Pro you have to tell the sequence it is a template. Then you will be able to edit the text in Premiere Pro by loading the source clip in the source monitor and then going to "effects control" to edit. All your titles will be editable.
    1. In AE go to composition settings/Advanced tab and tick the box beside"Template(unlocked text layers in Premiere Pro).
    2. In Premiere Pro using the Media Browser. Find the AE project containing the desired sequence. Double-click the project file it will open a window with a list of the sequences inside the project. Pick one and import.
    3. Load template in source monitor to edit text.
    4. Insert in Timeline.

  • Shell program and XML Publisher E-Text Template

    Hi All,
    We have a customer submitting an rdf report through Shell script using the command line submission ar60run. This is being done in 11i.
    This rdf handles the File transmission with certain codes for the third party(same as E-Text templates in R12).
    Now, With BI Publisher can I use the Standalone CP of E-Text templates instead of Shell host program to submit the request.
    or Should I initiate the BI Publisher E-Text concurrent program through Shell Host Language.
    The Host program does not deal with any OS specific code.(Attached the Host program code for ref..,)
    Will there be any problem if I do not use the Host program to submit the BI Publisher E-Text Program.

    hi,
    I also have had many many problems with SL and the latest Final Cut Studio, many of them with fonts. I have been through all my fonts with Font Book and disabled a whole bunch of them. For me Motion 4 had problems with non standard fonts. It might even have been a problem with double byte fonts, who knows? I've just installed 10.6.3 and the fcs updates. I havent done anything major with it yet, but a very quick test showed that the usual lag when using motion projects on an fcp timeline have been fixed. Yaaayyyy! So not much help to you, but i think some of the issues can't be fixed without a full wipe clean and resore of the whole system, or hopefully a well targeted update.

  • Live text template render issue when using Media Encoder?

    I'm running into flash frames with Media Encoder exports of Premiere sequences using the live text templates.
    Unfortunately, AME doesn't flag it as an error, so the render completes without any issues in the render log and the only way to find it is to watch the rendered file.
    I have tried different combinations of having After Effects open or closed, with the live text template comp open or closed; I can't consistently reproduce the problem with any certainty and so am having trouble pinpointing the source.
    My only hypotheses so far are that:
    The glitches seem to be happening in the dynamic link between AME and PP, not AE and PP. The live text will pop back to the duplicated comp's text for one frame. Video playing simultaneously doesn't pop.
    In other words, the AE text template said: "name here". In PP it was edited to say "John Doe", then that comp was duplicated and edited to say "Bob Smith". Everything looks fine in PP. There are no keys on the source text in AE (I have noticed that if there are keys on the source text in AE, the text will pop back to the original AE text at that key in PP).
    When rendered out of AME, halfway through Bob Smith's title, it will read "John Doe" for a single frame, then pop back to being Bob.
    I've only had this happen so far with AME renders. The renders out of PP haven't given me any issues so far.
    It might happen more frequently on longer segments? If a title is up for 45 sec instead of 10 sec, it may be more likely to pop.
    The issue seems to occur more often in batch renders out of AME (happened to 3 of 5 files rendered in a batch, AME 2014.1) and/or with unrelated AE comps open (on a single render from AME 2014.2)
    Again, it doesn't happen every time or to the same title, or in the same spot. Files are being rendered to ProRes 422 HQ. Unchecked "Use Previews" in AME.
    Would be nice to get to the bottom of what's happening so I can recommend something to the editors when I hand off these live text templates to them.
    I realize that the live text is a new feature as of 2014.1, but haven't found anyone else talking about this. Would love if this was a very simple fix that I'm missing.
    I was able to reproduce the error on 2 different machines, with similar specs:
    Premiere CC 2014.1 and 2014.2
    Media Encoder CC 2014.1 and 2014.2
    Mac tower 2010

  • Exporting Text from multiple text boxes?

    I'm using InDesign CS3 on the Macintosh. I need to export text from multiple text boxes/stories into one text file. The Export File command only exports text when the text tool is selected and the cursor is in the text box. Unfortunately, I have 8-20 individual text boxes per page, none are linked, and my document is 100+ pages, so selecting each text box individually is much too time consuming. There must be a better way - Please help!
    Thanks!
    Carolyn

    The text exporter plug-in seems to work! I did a quick test - text still will need some clean-up to make sure it's in the correct order, but MUCH better than exporting each story individually. THANKS!

  • CS4: exporting text

    For CS3 I had a script that exported text from frames I'd put a scriptlabel on. The default CS4 text export function nor the text export sample script that comes with CS4 don't do the trick. Does anyone know if there is a similar script for CS4 available somewhere? Or maybe someone knows how to alter this one? I get an error with the file path...
    set allText to {}
    set oldTids to AppleScript's text item delimiters
    on changetid(x)
    set AppleScript's text item delimiters to x
    end changetid
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS3"
    my changetid("")
    set filePath to file path of document 1
    set docname to (name of front document & ".txt")
    try
    tell application "Finder"
    make new file at filePath with properties {name:docname}
    end tell
    end try
    set newName to (filePath & docname) as string as alias
    set theNumber to (text returned of (display dialog "How many stories do you want to export" default answer "3"))
    set theNumber to theNumber as integer
    repeat with ii from 1 to theNumber
    set y to (parent story of every text frame of document 1 whose label is ii as string)
    set x to (get text of y)
    set end of allText to (x & return & return)
    end repeat
    set allText to every item of allText as text
    set writeOut to open for access newName with write permission
    write allText to writeOut
    close access writeOut
    my changetid(oldTids)
    end tell

    Aaaaaaah, I already figured out what went wrong... I had opened CS3 documents and tried to export the text before I had saved the documents as CS4... As soon as I saved them as CS4, I could export the text...

  • Exporting Text Layers

    I have a composition built in AE with one layer of another compsition and 5 text layers that are animated. When I choose File > Export > Adobe Premiere Pro Project... and open it in Premiere, only the other compostion layer is there with no text layers. I have no clue why this is happening. Thanks for any help you can provide.

    text layers not coming over is expected. They are a specific parametric layer type that can only exist in Ae (along with shape layers) and in reverse, for the same reason Premiere titles cannot exist in AE. Same hewre - you have some reading up to do. It's all in the help files.

    If this information is in the help files, it is not in the "Export to Premiere" section, which is where it should be, and it's not readily findable by searching for "exporting text layers," either.
    I found nothing about the exclusive characteristics of text and shape layers in the descripotions of text or shape layers that exclude exporting. I'm not reading every word of every page. What I'm searching for is that precise feature of text and shape layers. I found this, which is counterindicative from your statements unless one has access to contradictory information about going to and from Premiere. Here's a bunch of stuff that the OP probably found and, based on this information, he was certainly expecting text layers to work as implied, perhaps not as promised.
    Text layers are synthetic layers, meaning that a text layer does not use a footage item as its source—though you can convert text information from some footage items into text layers. Text layers are also vector layers. As with shape layers and other vector layers, text layers are always continuously rasterized, so when you scale the layer or resize the text, it retains crisp, resolution-independent edges. You cannot open a text layer in its own Layer panel, but you can work with text layers in the Composition panel.
    You can copy text from other applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, or any text editor, and paste it into a text layer in After Effects. Because After Effects also supports Unicode characters, you can copy and paste these characters between After Effects and any other application that also supports Unicode (which includes all Adobe applications).Text formatting is included in the Source Text property. Use the Source Text property to animate formatting and to change the characters themselves (for example, change the letter b to theletter c).
    Note: Some kinds of exporting don’t involve rendering and are for intermediate stages in a workflow, not for final output. For example, you can export a project as an Adobe Premiere Pro project by choosing File > Export > Adobe Premiere Pro Project. The project information is saved without rendering. In general, data transferred through Dynamic Link is not rendered.Working with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
    Adobe Premiere Pro is designed to capture, import, and edit movies. After Effects is designed to create motion graphics, apply visual effects, composite visual elements, perform color correction, and perform other post-production tasks for movies.
    You can easily exchange projects, compositions, sequences, tracks, and layers between After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro:
    You can import an Adobe Premiere Pro project into After Effects. (See Import an Adobe Premiere Pro project.)
    You can export an After Effects project as an Adobe Premiere Pro project. (See Export an After Effects project as an Adobe Premiere Pro project.)
    You can copy and paste layers and tracks between After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro. (See Copy between After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro.)
    If you have Adobe Creative Suite Production Premium or Master Collection, you can also do the following:
    Start Adobe Premiere Pro from within After Effects and capture footage for use in After Effects. (See Use Adobe Premiere Pro for capture (Production Premium and Master Collection only).)
    Use Adobe Dynamic Link to work with After Effects compositions in Adobe Premiere Pro without first rendering them. A dynamically linked composition appears as a clip in Adobe Premiere Pro.
    Use Adobe Dynamic Link to work with Adobe Premiere Pro sequences in After Effects without first rendering them. A dynamically linked sequence appears as a footage item in After Effects.
    Start After Effects from within Premiere Pro and create a new composition with settings that match the settings of your Premiere Pro project.
    Select a set of clips in Adobe Premiere Pro and convert them to a composition in After Effects.
    For information on using Dynamic Link with After Effects and Premiere Pro, see Dynamic Link and After Effects and the relevant sections of Adobe Premiere Pro Help.

  • Exporting Metadata Templates from my old computer

    I am trying to Export my Metadata Templates form my old Mac (running on Bridge CS3) to my new Mac (running on Bridge CC).
    I have located the folder on my old Mac:
    Library/Appliation Support/Adobe/XMP/Metadata Templates
    I dropped the Metadata Templates folder onto a memory stick and then transferred it to the same location on my new Mac.  However, I still can't see the templates.
    If I go to Tools/EditMetadata Template, Tools/Append Metadata or Tools/Replace Metadata, it just says "No Templates"
    Please can someone advise what I am doing wrong?
    Many thanks
    Claire

    I have located the folder on my old Mac:
    Library/Appliation Support/Adobe/XMP/Metadata Templates
    If you mean the library in your user account you are at the right place. But If there are no templates in this folder on you old Mac then they will not appear in your new one.
    Don't remember if CS3 had the same templates, it is a long time ago I used this version. However I do believe the newer versions have better template options to offer due to more fileds (also if I try to recall there was a bit of a problem with the copyright line itself, it stated no copyright by default.
    Don't know if you had much but I would prefer to create new ones in CC. Otherwise use your old mac and choose edit templates, pick the ones you need and save them to a place you can find them back. Then copy these to the stick and drag them into the templates folder in the user library of your CC version.
    While you are at it, if you had a custom keyword list in CS3 also use same fly out menu and choose export, then import again in new version to have this list available in CC, if not you will end up with italic keywords and have to choose 'make persistent' for each keyword.

  • Flash CS3 Pro

    I just started using flash to import some movies to make my
    movies smaller by exporting to a flash movie. I'm no pro with
    video. I"m just doing this as a hobbie when I'm away from work.
    I just installed Flash CS3 Pro mac and here is the problem
    I'm encountering. After importing my video from another file format
    I make whatever necessary edits while in flash I then export to a
    .swf but only my local machine can play the swf file. I see two
    options under exporting options for flash 1) is local files only
    and 2) network access only. Can someone please shed some light on
    the issue?
    I copied the files over to my pc and the PC will not play the
    flash movie. I uploaded them to my servers on the web and they
    cannot play the movies either. I'm lost at this point.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!
    T

    How did you import the video? Did you embed in in the
    timeline or create an FLV which loads as an external file? If you
    did the latter, you'll need to include the FLV file in addition to
    the SWF.

  • AE CS3 HD exported Quicktime playback stutters!

    Hello AE wizards,
    The Problem: After exporting our HD After Effects project to QuickTime the playback stutters just a bit. It will run along fine and then it jerks/hiccups. This happens at various times during playback. We have tried many different export settings but no luck. We would really appreciate some help with this. Thank you.
    About our project: We are creating an intro animation for viewing on our computer monitor and for DVD. The movie will be made up of only High Res photos separated into several layers to create a 3D effect. We import the .psd files, add the layers to the timeline and check 3D layers. We create space between each layer on the z axis and then move a camera through the scene. The project dimensions are 1920 X 1080 and the photos are as big as 2000 px X 2000 px. The movie length is about 2:00 min.
    Export Settings: File/Export QuickTime movie:
    Compression Type: H.264

    Yes. I've viewed your quicktime and...
    The stutters are actually already in your animation, they are NOT being caused by playback issues.
    You can see this by single frame advancing through your animation, you will quite often encounter frames where nothing changes when compared to the last frame, and you then get a jump on the next frame. This means frames are being dropped during rendering of the animation or the master file you are using has gone through some sort of frame rate conversion. Probably you have converted from 24 frames per second to 29.97 frames per second which requires repeating a number of frames/fields per second (5.97 frames) , these repeated frames will destroy the illusion of smooth motion.
    Heres something you can try:
    Check the original animation file by step framing through one frame at a time. Do you see frames that are exactly the same as the previous one? If the answer is yes... then you need to re render the animation, try doing it at the same frame rate you plan to output (29.97fps).
    If the answer is NO... then just use the native framerate of that file to do the rest of your project. ie. DONT upsample the framerate to 29.97 or anything else.
    The other option is (if the actual real time sync of the animation doesnt matter) to go back to your original animation file and just play the 24fps animation at 29.97 at one to one frame. So we discard the playback rate of the input file (24fps) and just display one frame of the input for each frame required at the output. This ensures that the motion will be smooth, (because we are not repeating frames to keep the duration the same) however it will be playing back slightly faster.
    I happened to find this topic because I'm researching how to get smooth playback of quicktime movies on a desktop screen. Its actually proving incredibly hard. Even if you manage to create a master file that actually has your smooth animation in at 24fps... chances are Quicktime will frak it up for you... because it dynamically changes the framerate on playback to suit the display anyway.
    If your on a Mac then your desktop is probably set to 60Hz (Which really means 59.94Hz). So re-rendering your 3d animation at 29.97 is probably your best chance at getting smooth motion in the final viewing.
