It's possible that you have been hit by a rare and little
known bug that
affects sites that contain one of more files that are an
exact multiple
of 8,192 bytes.
Check the site files. If there is a file that is 8,192 bytes
or a
multiple thereof, remove it from the site folder. Relaunch
Dreamweaver.
Edit the file in a text editor, such as Notepad, to add a
couple of
extra lines. This increases the file size, and should prevent
triggering
the bug.

  • Can anyone answer why photoshop CS3 shuts down when I use the scanner?

Can anyone help me with why photoshop CS3 shuts down when I use the scanner? I recently upgraded to OS X Yosemite.

Ask in the PS forum and be much more specific. You have not provided exact system information, crash logs, scanner details. That said, this may be a compatibility issue that can't be overcome.

  • CS3 Shutting Down

Hello, Is anyone else out there having a problem with CS3 shutting down when trying to open up more than 1 manual at a time?
I am running double monitors, on a windows XP program, I have not had the problem with CS2 before, am having difficulty with this and would appreciate any help at all with this problem.
and by the way when CS3 goes down it is not running in the task bar at the bottom of any monitor and when i hit Cntrl + alt + delete it is not shown as running, and the only way I can get CS3 to run again without rebooting the computer is by going to processes and terminating the program through there.

Yes, I have this issue on two separate XP workstations. Opening a new ID
file by clicking on it with ID collapsed to the task bar, (rather than
navigating to open from within ID) will SOMETIMES, cause ID to disappear
from the running applications. It will still show as an active process in
task-manager, but not as a running application. It then needs to be manually
terminated. We are not using dual monitors, but our systems are equipped
    with dual monitor graphics cards.
This has been the case since CS3 has been installed (from release time) and
is very frustrating. I've spent hours on the phone with Adobe support, and
they basically gave up and said it was something in my systems. I would
believed that except it happens on two separate work stations, and there
have been others here posting the same situation. Adobe support suggested
maybe it was a problematic font. Well, I tried closing all fonts except the
bare essentials, and got the same results. It doesn't happen every time, and
there is no rhyme or reason as to how may files you need to be opened for
the disappearance to occur. We're just living with it, and trying to
remember not to open files with that method.

  • Photoshop CS3 shuts down after opening a PSD file with layers

Hello, I have met a problem with Photoshop CS3 (Windows XP SP2, no network printer) - after opening a PSD file with layers (saved with CS2) Photoshop shuts down. No error message.
Can some of you help me? (The only software that I have installed after Creative Suite CS3 is Corel X4. I have installed no upgrades of CS3.)

    > I have installed no upgrades of CS3
    You should!
Even if it doesn't help here you should.

  • CS3 shuts down after wierd error

I'm guessing this problem can be solved by uninstalling/installing my printer driver but thought I'd check here to see if anyone's seen an error this strange anyway.
If I try to open either a large number of photos or a few large ones, I can sometimes end up with CS3 closing and telling me that a faulting module, e_fuicaia.dll, caused the program to shut down.
Just what this has to do with anything, I don't know. It is a driver for an old epson 220 cd printer. Why loading photoshop causes the printer driver to crash it seems quite odd.
As I said, hopefully reinstalling the printer driver will have an effect, although the printer itself works just fine. hmmmm

Is the Epson 220 set as your default printer? I'd set another, even if its say the "Generic PS Printer," or the Acrobat Printer. You should be able to use the CD printer, by selecting it in the Print dialog box. If that doesn't work, then maybe an uninstall/re-install would work. Personally, I'd do a Registry cleaning, after uninstall, and prior to re-install.

  • Illustrator CS3 shuts down every time I try to save my file

    Hello,
My Illustrator starting having trouble with saving files about a month ago, but then, if I would wait long enough, eventually it would save the file and I could move on.  Now, my Illustrator shuts down, or just tells me there is not enough memory to save the file - and it is not a huge file.  even when trying to print from Illustrator now, I have big problems.
I've already had the hard drive on my computer checked and it's in perfect shape.  I don't have any other issues in any other program on this computer.  Just Illustrator.  I uninstalled and reinstalled CS3 today, but made no difference.
    Any help or suggestions?

    D,
If it has anything to do with preferences, uninstalling and reinstalling will make no difference. If that is the case, you may try to  Move the folder.
But before doing that, it may be worth trying to consider whether the file may be corrupt.
Does it happen to other files?
If not, you may move the contents into a new document (tick Paste Remembers Layers in the Layers panel (and untick it when done).
You may try to move everything (from all layers), and if the new document is corrupt, you may start anew and move bits and pieces.

  • Cs3 shutting down without reason

hi, i use ps cs3 on my notebook with 2 Gb ram. i didn't install a new update or something else recently but while i'm working ps freeze and shuts down by itself. i'm not able to save my project. and it also slows down or sometimes freezes when i'm trying to open a new or existing file. it seems like a memory problem but i've been using for 3 years on this computer and this problem is shown up a few months ago. it's really annoying. i restart my computer, it's useful for a short time then it shuts down again again and again. i removed and re-installed ps cs3 but that problem is going on. i need your help and explanations to solve this. thnx

Do you get an error message when this happens? Or something in the event log?
Try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.    A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Premiere Pro CS3 shutting down

Sorry to ask such a simple question, but I am new to Premiere Pro CS3.  Basically, whenever I start it up, I get to the point of importing some video (a small file), and then it seems like 3 out of 4 times when I try to do anything with the program after the import is complete, it simply shuts down and disappears with no warnings or errors.  I know from experience with Vegas Pro that video editors can be picky and unstable, but this is ridiculous.
Short of "re installing the program", are there any words of advice of things to check concerning the program (or me) to help keep it running longer than 60 seconds?  It is running on a Win XP32 machine with no other programs running at the same time.
Thanks in advance for your input.

    Excellent article!
    SYSTEM:
Let's start with the hardware.  This is a built from scratch PC about 2 -3 years old that I put together for using Vegas Pro and other high end Autodesk programs.  It is a Tyan server motherboard with two AMD Opteron quad core micros (8 cores total) running at a nominal 2.3 Ghz.  Total ram is 8 G of DDR2.  The video card is an ATI FireGL V5200 with 512M of video ram, driving two monitors.  The operating system is Windows XP 32.  It is a dual boot machine, capable of booting into either XP32 or XP x64.  The OS are on a 320G SATA2 hard drive.  The video files are on a striped RAID consisting of two 320G SATA2 hard drives.
Installed software includes everything from Master Collection CS3, Microsoft Office 2007, and a few other odds and ends.  The antivirus is Kaspersky 2009.
    ASSETS:
The imported video clip is 80M AVI from a camcorder that plays fine in either Vegas or Windows Media Player.
    WORKFLOW:
Have not got that far yet!
Let's start with the simple questions first:  When I get to the initial splash screen "Welcome to Adobe Premiere Pro", pressing either the "Exit" button or the red button with the X in the upper right corner of the splash screen causes the program to shut down.  Is that to be expected?
Oh, and to the best of my experience, this is the only software from the Master Collection CS3 suite that is having this problem.

    Hi Thom,
If you prefer Word (not Pages) to open all TextEdit documents, do this.
In Finder, click once on a TextEdit document and go to Menu > File > Get Info (command i). In the Info window, look for Open With. You may have to click on the right-pointing triangle to reveal the options. From the Pop-up menu, choose Word. If you do not see Word in the list, choose Other. That will take you to your Applications Folder where you can choose the application to open that text document.
Back in the Info window, click on Change All... That will set that app as the preferred app for all textEdit documents. Please reply if you have trouble.

  • Help! While editing a photo in CS3 the program shut down and will not reopen my psd file.

Help! While editing a photo in CS3 the program shut down and will not reopen my psd file. The error message reads "cannot complete your request because of a program error" -- it is a very large file (I have been saving it all along) and I had just "flattened layers" and went to open up a new, blank photo file when it shut down. Is there anyway to get this file to open? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! (p.s. after reading a couple of similar threads, I have a feeling it's hopeless. But I'd also like to know WHY this might have happened!) Thanks in advance!

Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to respond and for sharing the article--I did panic. Here are the details of my system:
    Model: HP p7-1247c
Processor: AMD A8-3820 APU with Radeon HD Graphics
Installed Memory: 8 GB (7.48 usable)
    System Type: 64-bit
    Windows 7 Home Premium
I am using Photoshop CS3. It seems that I can work on photos and save them. But I am unable to open them back up. I have tried saving the files as psd and tiff with the same result. The error message is:  "cannot complete your request because of a program error"
The interesting thing is that I can open up InDesign and "place" the psd file within InDesign (then export and save as a jpeg). So I don't think the files are necessarily corrupted. I uninstalled Photoshop and reinstalled it last night, but there's no change.
If you have any ideas, I'd appreciate it. Or, should I repost my question with this more complete info? Thank you!

  • Problems shutting down illustrator cs3

    greetings -
just curious if anyone else has had issues w/ illustrator not shutting down (i.e., file/exit). i have yet to attempt an uninstall/reinstall since it took a long time to install cs3 on my machine the first time (had to restart it once).
about 9 out of 10 times when exiting illustrator, it will freeze up, and i have to do a "ctl+alt+delete"" to terminate the process.
    any thoughts are appreciated.

I've been having this daily problem of this 'hanging-on-quitting' problem, too, until I saw this first post (recently, always searching for solution thru other forums as well) and thought that what might be the problem..., often times I would just quit by clicking the Close button, too. For a while, it did work (if I'm using Illy for short period of time) it doesn't hang - but if I would keep it up & work with it for a long period of time, then on quit (even with the File>Exit method) it'll go blank & 'hang' (again). I'm "wild-guessing", but could it be something to do with application's cache/memory issue? I mean, its seems like the more I use it, the more it keeps "building-up inside" so to speak. Also I agree whole-heartedly with JET's post #29 (under "New to Illustrator - all I want to do is draw a triangle") concering the "inelegance" of Illustrator, etc. He really said it well. It seems that each Illy's "improvement" is two-steps-backward at the same time. Very frustrating! I have Windows XP SP2 on two different machines. I hope this post would help to bring out any other thoughts or ideas on this annoying issue.

  • PS cs3 and Illustrator cs3 won't shut down

I have these apps intalled on two other win 7 x64 computers with
out any problem but on this win 7 x64 system both ps cs3 and illustrator cs3  hang up when I try to close them. It is a little intermittent on illustrator and at least once it has closed properly but most of the time it takes about 2-5 mins to shut down or it won't shut down at all.
Photoshop is worse and always either takes 3-5 mins if it does shut down but in most cases it will not shut down and I have to force quit the application. Any suggestions please.

Security settings for the Adobe licensing service or something liek that, possibly Version Cue! Run as admin to diagnose, then manually configure the services...

  • CS3 Just shuts down

I apologize if this has been covered, but I can't find it if it is ...
When I run Photoshop CS3 on my laptop I can work on an image for 5 or 10 minutes or so and then it just shuts down! I don't even get an error message!
On my desktop machine I have no problems at all.
    Any suggestions?
    The laptop configuration is:
    Dell XPS m1530 - Windows Vista SP1
    CPU : Core2 Duo 2.6Ghz
    Memory 4gb
Hard drive : 180 gb with 124 gb free

Graphics editing (or video editing or some games) really make a computer work hard
Do you have a system monitor that shows the internal temperature?
I know that over in the Premiere forum there are sometimes discussions of adding extra cooling... easy to do with a desktop case, but even for a laptop there are devices which sit under a laptop with built-in fans to suck the hot air down and out of the laptop and then out the sides of the device

  • CS3 Won't Shut Down...etc.

    hello again...
ever since a microsoft tech walked me thru a 'repair' (?) of windows 7 pro...Illustrator CS3 does weird things.
1st...when I attempt to link a photoshop file (psd)...(so as to place a transparent image in my design...which has to be cmyk for professional print...which is the only time I ever link to psd's)...i get this:
then...when I go to shut down...I get this:
is there a way to REPAIR illustrator...???...w/ the install disc...or is there a quicker answer...???
    thanx,
    mark4man

"close the program", while inconvenient can be simply ignored...just click on close....does no harm
I get this on occasion with a few programs and I think it is a registry issue.  You can try to "clean" the registry (many free tools to do so like ccleaner) or often if you simply run the program (at start) as "administrator" that may fix it.  Right click the launching icon, click on run as admin.  It may be sticky and remain OK but you may need to do it a few times, especially after a cold PC startup.
Instead of linking, did you try to embed the file? may not be a great solution but may be a work around?
