My son has just started college studying Graphic Arts.He has been offered to buy Photoshop CS3 Students Edition.I want to buy this for him,but is this the same has the CS3 you buy at the retailers,or some cut down version.I have never heard of student edition.Thank You.Robert

The only issue with the 'student' edition is that it cannot be used for commercial work. However, if he upgrades to a newer license later, the restriction is lifted. The student version is sold through the school.
If he buys the slightly more expensive 'education' version (still cheaper than retail), he can use that version immediately for commercial work. The education version is sold through places like journeyed.com and creationengine.com

Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Student Edition... Serial number problems!

Hey I was wondering if anyone could help me!
I purcahsed the Creative Suite CS3 Design Standard, Student Edition, about 8 months ago, and sent off a copy of proof of being in full time education to retrieve my serial number. I haven't recieved one as of yet, and I am a bit lost as to what to do next! As I'm sitting here with software that I cant even use! :(
Would anyone know who to contact about this?
Any help would be REALLY appreciated (as all my design coursework is slowly pilling up haha!)

I have a CS3 Design Standard student edition, and wish to upgrade to the full commercial version.
When selecting which product I own, student editions aren't listed. Do I just select the upgrade from 'CS3.x Design Standard'?

Questions about Photoshop CS3 Student Edition

I was wondering how many keys come with one set of it, i bought it a year or 2 ago and now it has crashed on a computer so i was wondering how many keys came with it. any help would be nice thanks!

CS3 Student, Upgrade to CS3 Normal..possible?

I've currently got Web Premium CS3 Student Edition and have found out that it's not allowed for commercial use. Is it possible for me to upgrade from CS3 Student Edition to the normal CS3 package?
If it is, then is it for the fee quoted on the website for upgrades from CS3, £175?
I'm going to give Adobe a call soon, but it's been bugging me for a while now and the sooner I know the better.

There exist two different editions:
a) student edition: no upgrades, no commercial use, compared to normal prizes very cheap.
b) academic box edition: upgrades, commercial use during and after being a student, more expensive than the student edition, no allowance to sell it - it is only for your use - you do not have the right to sell it.
So, if you own a student edition, you can not upgrade. If you have an academic box edition, you can upgrade (with standard upgrade versions).

PS CS3 Extended Student Edition disc won't upload onto Computer!

I bought the PS CS3 Extended Student Edition and I have registered on the Adobe website to get my serial number which all went fine, but when I put the Disc in the drive, it does not appear on My Computer,Desk Top for me to open and upload photoshop to my computer! I have put the disc into another hard drive and attached it to my monitor but still nothing comes up! I have tried it on a completely different computer and it appears then, just not on mine! My computer seems to be working fine as I am able to upload other discs to it!
Please can anyone help or has anyone had this problem in the past?

When did this start? 3.3? I've been a regular educational buyer. The most recent we have is CS3.0 (the suite) and that came with the serial. Maybe it just depends on the educational vendor.
I'm not doubting that Hayley has a legitimate license. But based on her terminology ('
disc won't upload onto Computer', '
put the disc into another hard drive') she may not be living in perfect harmony with computers. She may do well to snag the assistance of a fellow student to aid in the installation. They still have a good size population of 'nerds' in schools these days to choose from, right? :)

What are my options for upgrading from Student Edition of CS3 Master to the current CS6 Master Edition? I am not interested in Creative Cloud.

Upgrade to Adobe CC with the conditions of the "special offer" (35,69€ / year) with an old registered CS5 Students Edition?

I just tried to update my Adobe Creative Suite to Adobe CC. I have a registered CS5.5 Master Collection from 2012 that I bought while studying (Students Edition).
On the Adobe Website I can choose the CC as a special offer and a price o 35,69€ per year. When my Serial is checked they say that I'm not allowed to use this special offer.
Does anybody know what's the problem? Can't I use the special offer with the old serial of a student's edition?

Installing CS4 student edition onto a new macbook pro

I have just bought a macbook pro (which doesn't have a disc drive) and am wanting to install my student edition of CS4 onto it.
As advised by adobe I have copied the installation CDs onto a USB and have then copied them onto my new macbook to try and install it that way.
I can install the first disc fine, but then it asks for me to insert disc two - when i open the copied file from disc two nothing happens ... anyone know how to get around this/make it work!
I have seen on another thread that you can install the trial versions of cs4 and then input your serial number to activate them but I don't know if this will work woth the student edition?
(I had first tried to install CS4 onto my new laptop using the migration assistant, but it must have corrupted the files, that when i spoke to adobe and they told me to do try installing using USB)

The only difference between student editions and others is the license... the software is the same.
As you mentioned, you can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

Error 150:30 CS4 (student edition) on a Macbook

I recently had a corrupted operating system and had to erase and reinstall, but had error with backup reinstall and now can no longer use any of my Master Collection CS4 (student edition) with an error 150:30 licence issue, all my information was lost for the past 2 years from my backups???what to do, can any one help???

Upgrading from student editions to CS5 ?

I currently have a student edition of Dreamweaver MX, Flash MX, and Illustrator 10. I would like to upgrade these to the Adobe CS5 professional versions, but I am not sure if I can since they are so old. Or can I upgrade these to the Adobe CS5 Design package?

Unfortunately, that won't work. All MX versions (student, full retail etc) are too old to qualify for an upgrade.
Adobe has a "3-versions-back" policy for upgrading these days.
So the only versions eligible for an upgrade to CS5 are DW8, CS3 and CS4.

CS4 Design Premium Student Edition will not even begin the installation process

I have bought CS4 Design Premium Student Edition, I received the serial number okay, tried the installation process but stupidly hadn't quit a programme fisrt. I tried the process again but the SetUp window says 'Loading SetUp' and I get an 'Installer Alert' window pop up with nothing in it. I can't quit the Installer and have to Force Quit.
I've tried the CS4 Clean Script and it finds nothing to remove. Having spoken to Tech Support I tried CS3 Clean Script and it removed certain items, but the CS4 disc still won't work.
I have Photoshop 7 installed, would that be interfering?
What else can I remove before re-trying the installation of CS4?

I have tried shutting down and restarting and just a simple restart.
The guy from tech support didn't tell me to do that when I was trying the clean script stuff the other day but I've tried it sonce and there's still no joy.
Does it sound like I've got something preventing the installation process from starting if I get a blank 'Installer Alert' window appear?
Calling Adobe Support is such a pain. No answer for hours....

Student Edition of Photoshop

I am looking to get photoshop and was not sure whether i am eligeable for student edition as was unsure about what my exact requirements were, i didnt want to buy it and not be eligeable.
I am 18 and have just finished my A-levels and will be starting a two year College course in September, i did not know if i had to be in a university to qualify.
Also if i got an older version such as CS3 or CS4 can they still be registered as new CS5 has been released?

there are no older versions. Educational pricing always only applies to the latest version sold through proper channels - since you cannot update edu (other than of course, to full commercial) and you always buy a "fresh" full license, there is no point whatsoever in even trying to get an old version.

Quick "Photoshop CS4 Student Edition" Question

How many times am I able to download the CS4 Student Edition? If I can recall, I was able to download my old CS3 version twice, but I am having difficulty locating where to find this particular information. Thanks for the response. Much appreciated!

As far as I know, the Student Editions range is no different from any other Adobe downloadable product. In their Online Order FAQ, they write:
"How long will my download be available?
You may return to your Online Store account to resume a download, or re-download your products for 3 years after the day of purchase. If for some reason you are unable to access your account or are unable to find your previously purchased downloads, please contact customer service. Adobe reserves the right to change this policy at any time with or without notice."

That seems to indicate that you're not limited to a number of downloads, but a time in which to download. If you click on the 'Your Account' link at the top of the Adobe site, and then on the 'View Order History' link, you should have a 'Your Downloads' tab that will make all your purchases available to download.
You may find that this varies slightly with volume licensing however. I'm assuming you mean a Student Editions individual purchase, but if you're buying through your university for example, you should check with them. CS5 Upgrade - Student Edition?

Currently, Adobe is only listing a student edition upgrade for Photoshop Extended. At least as far as I can see. Can one expect to see a student edition of Photoshop CS5 (cooking) at some future point? Maybe after CS5 ships?

Adobe hasn't offered Photoshop at student pricing since they introduced Photoshop Extended, and I wouldn't hold your breath for them to start now. Extended is a bargain at student prices and the extra features can be quite useful to some students.
If you really don't want the Extended features for some reason, the CS3 and CS4 student editions can be upgraded using a standard retail upgrade... for the same price as a new student edition of CS5 Extended.
