CS3 table strokes between pages

I am importing a large Excel document into CS3. I have a table style applied that makes a horizontal stroke once every five lines of data. This file takes up several pages, and when the table gets split in two pages or two text boxes at a second, third, or fourth row, the bottom border drops out (indesign keeps the formatting of the the row stroke, which is none) Is there a way to have those certain rows act as table borders?

A bad -- but working -- manual way, is to insert a new row below the offending one and copy as much lines as needed into the new one. (Sigh -- I can't believe I'm actually proposing this.)

I can't break a table row between pages (going nuts!)

I'm setting a several page table (one of a few I need to set for a book) with long texts in many of the cells. I'm using CS3 InDesign on a new Mac. I've looked at similar threads (been struggling with this all day).
The paragraph style and table style both specify 0 lines to keep together. There is no cell style.
The maximum height for rows is taller than the page.
The Word document I'm importing from lets the rows break across pages.
When I add a row with vertically overset text, the row disappears. If I increase the size of the frame below the page, the row shows up.
I am ready to run screaming into the night.
Any help would be deeply appreciated.

How to keep location in a table persistent when switching between pages

Hi -
How would I keep my last location persistent in a table when switching between pages? If I am on cell X and switch to another page, when returning to the previous page, I return to the top of the table. This can be very annoying when trying to find the same location in a large table (or even in a small one).

If by "page" you mean "sheet", you can do it. To get back to the same place you were in the other sheet, click on the sheet in the sidebar (the list of sheets/tables/charts/etc on the left). Don't click on the table, click on the sheet.

CS3: Table on more than one page - How can I get the UIDRef's of the pages?

DW Template and table jump from page to page

Hi,
I have put together a rather quick, basic site for a friend
in need (meaning=bare bones here to get it started faster). It's
template-based and table-based.
The site is generally working okay except that the content in
terms of the tables jumps slightly to the left or to the right
during navigation between pages. It all hangs together, but it
shifts slightly, so I know something is out of line.
The navigation is done with Fireworks CS3, so there may be
something wrong with how my slices are set up. I've tweaked them a
bit and made them better, but everything still shifts between
pages.
I appreciate any help or assistance anyone could offer.

Right way to jump between pages?

I am in trouble to find the correct way to jump between pages,I have a page alluser.jsp,
in which all usergroups and users are displayed,corresponding to every user's item,I
place a link to delete this user,as below:

in removeuser.jsp,after I have completed the task of deleting this user from database,I
want the client go back to alluser.jsp,where he can find that user has been removed,

the logic of alluser.jsp:to fetch data from NOW_BE database,but just displays from the browser's
cache;
the second,

alluser.jsp,which doesn't need any parameters,as result,in browser's location bar,I see
..../alluser.jsjp?userName=...,now I cannot refresh the page,because the browser will

Instead of having 2 jsp forms, the processing can be done in the same form - "alluser.jsp".
The code below explains as to how this can be implemented.
The ResultSet gets updated without the deleted user.

CS5.5 page palette - , instead of - between pages

Hello,
I am a newbie.
I made a masterpage A-PL (see also inserted figure). I inserted a new page before page 2 and in the tool palette there is a "," instead of a "-" between page 1 and 2.
I already copied the text (great table with cross-references), inserted a new "empty" page based on A-PL master page and then I also saw that there was no link between the new page (1) and the second page. I manually added the link between the 2 pages. Strange that there is no automatic link between these 2 pages. On the Masterpage A-PL there is an link between the left and the right side.
I hope that someone can help me.

Normally, we work with Framemaker. The first page of the body text in the book file must start Left. In indesign is that not possible. There is an procedure to start it left (add a page before the page that must start left, disable "allow document pages to shuffle", delete the inserted page, and then the page (who first started at right, will start at left)).
I did this procedure but I remarked that there is a "," on the marked blue pages in the capture instead of a "-".
It was also strange that when I inserted the blank page with the same section numbering and same master page setting, the link between these pages where gone. I have to set the link manually.
I hope it is clear now...

Insert data into table from JSP page using Entity Beans(EJB 3.0)

I want to insert data into a database table from JSP page using Entity Beans(EJB 3.0).
1. I have a table 'FRIENDS', (in Oracle 10g database).
2. It has two columns, 'NAME' and 'CITY'. Both have datatype strings(varchar2).
3. Now from a JSP page, having two textfields, 'NAME' and 'CITY', I want to insert data into table 'FRIENDS'.
4. In between JSP and database is a Entity Bean(EJB 3.0) and a stateless session bean.
5. I am using JDev as editor.
Please provide me code ASAP or link with similar example.

Post the jsp form data to a Servlet which will act as a Controller.
In the servlet invoke the business method.

Table split across pages

Is it possible to setup Indesign to automatically split table across frames like Microsoft Word do across pages?

ID splits tables only between cells rows, not mid-row, but it will certainly split a table between frames.

InDesign CS3 cell stroke function is &*^%up

After working with table cells and application of borders for, oh, at least 2.5 hours, I have found that if you want a stroke on the bottom of a cell, then, apply it to the TOP; and if you want a stroke on left side of cell, apply it to the RIGHT side, and so on. There is no way to choose the table and apply a horizontal or vertical stroke between the cells, I have to apply the style to every cell. Glad I'm working on a table with only 20 cells.
Am I the only one that is visited by this border demon?

Let me rephrase that. If you select a block of cells, that proxy represents the entire block. If the bottom stroke is active in the proxy, the settings you apply will be applied along the bottom of the block. If one or both of the of the center strokes are active, the settings you apply will be applied to the horizontal or vertical divisions between the cells in the block. To set different paramenters for one group of strokes, deselect the others in the proxy and they won't be affected.

RTF template table does not page break correctly.

I have created a purchase order document template. Each po line has 7 rows that are in a rtf table. When I create the po document the po lines get split between pages but I want to keep all lines and print on the next page. I have unchecked the 'allow rows to break between pages' and that doesn't seem to work. Can anyone provide some assistance.

.. will take you one level up, and use them and go the the level where you the field to be displayed.

Stroke weight on table doesn't match non-table strokes?

Hi,
I've experienced this anomoly in CS2 and CS3.
If I set a table stroke to 0.25, and place a "non-table" stroke (eg. a line or paragraph rule) close to this table for comparison, also set to 0.25, then export to PDF and print the result, the table stroke is noticeably heavier than the other strokes. On screen (both in Indesign and Acrobat) the lines appear identical - the difference is only apparent in the print. The effect is more noticeable on strokes set to a colour other than 100% black (probably because a dot pattern is used to print rather than solid toner).
To compensate for this, I find setting the other strokes to about 0.35 gives the same appearance as a table stroke set to 0.25.
This is quite odd, isn't it?
It could be an issue with the printer (Fuji-Xerox DocuColor 5065), but I'd appreciate it if someone could check and see if they get the same result.

This is a universal problem - all table strokes are slightly heavier than they should be.
It doesn't matter what the stroke weight is set to - it's just most noticeable with a fine stroke such as 0.25.
After some more tests, I've found that PDFs coming out of Indesign (all flavours), prints directly from Indesign, and artwork printed to Postscript from Indesign and then run through Distiller display this problem. However, PDFs opened and then resaved from Illustrator print with the table strokes at the correct weight.
So I'm concluding that the problem is with the Indesign PDF/printing engine.
Can anyone add anything further? Is this bug documented?

How can I duplicate the same table in 3 pages?

hi everybody!
i have a form with a master page (containing the invoice fields) and 3 body pages that reference the master page.
in each one of these 3 pages there is a table with one header row, 7 body rows and a footer row.
the table was copied and pasted from page 1 to page 2 and page 3.
between the body rows there are two rows that are bound with table data, one for invoice details and one for tax details.
my problem is that in the 2nd and 3rd page in pdf output invoice and tax details are empty, while the other lines are present.
it seems like there is a table index that loops once in the first page until it reaches the end of the table, so for page 2 and 3 it is already at the end...
my question is: how can i get the same complete table in three form pages?

Not sure I follow .....are you asking for Page 2 and 3 to have the same table and values in the table as on Page1 or does each page have unique data?
Where is the data coming from? Is the user typing it in or is there a separate data source somewhere?

How to remove extract space between pages in smartform without changing output

Hello Experts,
I've been given a requirement where I need to remove extra space between pages of a smartform (refer to the attachment). If you look at the following screen shot then you will notice that that there is a command provided to display details on these pages which has a checkbox 'Go to New Page'.
When I removed the above New Page comment then still I don't see the expected output (Refer to the attached screen shot 'Expected' to see what I need).
Also there is another there is another New Page command (as shown below).
When I tried to removed the above New Page Command then output was totally changed which user don't want (as shown below. Table should have been break on BCVI on red line, which happens today but with so much extra space).
To view the correct output how user want please have a look at 'Expected' screen shot.
Now the question is what change I should make in my smartform to accomplish the expected output.

I think that it should work, this construction of an loop node including all relevant items and at the event TAB event sort field only these items are copied in the OUTPUT_TAB which should be printed in a separate table on the form. After having printed the table, the content of the internal table is cleared.
I suppose that you first should check if this TAB "event sort field" includes the correct criteria for the necessary group change. If this event is really defined correctly, then I only have one hint for you.
I know that the only possibility to define a page break in a table in the Window MAIN is to use the following technique:
Define an outside loop node and in this loop node a table node, but this table does not have a internal table to be looped through. It includes only the fields to be printed, maybe you have to re-design your table node.
By the way only then you can define a command node including a page break during the processing of an internal table.
