CS3 to CS5, but need CS4 too

I heard there is a free upgrade to CS5 if you purchase CS4 by July 31st. I haven't found any CS4 upgrades, does anyone know of a site selling the CS4 (with the chance to upgrade to CS5 for free)?

Hi, Don,
You can upgrade each product individually to its CS5 version for $199 per product. Or you can upgrade one product to a full Creative Suite such as Creative Suite Design Standard, which includes Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat, for $849. URGENT: labels and ratings lost from CS3 to CS5

Hi, I have been using Bridge CS3 for categorize my photos and i have instaled CS5 recently (i have the two now).
All the ratings and labels were lost. In jpeg files, in CS3 i can see the rating in the xmp metadata "rating" (in file info, advanced) but not in CS5 (the xmp metadata is there but without "rating"). In CS5 i can rating the photos with problems.
If i export (save) xmp from jpeg in CS3:

The only difference being xmp is being used instead of xap. I have also looked at CS4 and it is the same as CS5, except they are in reversed order but still show correctly.
I wonder what version of Bridge you have for CS5 mine is .. 4.0.4.2

I've been reading the same sentence from several different people at Adobe who are responsible for their Application.
Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom ... you name it.
The truth is that there are several people out there in the world who have no relation to Adobe Engineering and might get the job done.
One of them is Paul Tuersley who is contributing at aescripts.com.
Lloyd Alvarez provided some news on upcoming Scripts and Plugins, one of the scripts are "OpenSesame" which allows you finally downgrading projects. Of course some limitations will apply, but downgrading a simple project that has the same basic attributes as any other project version has, will work. Evidence is proof. Check aescripts.com or aeplugins.com on a regular basis for news and other VERY helpful scripts and plugs that might save your sanity.
So, now i'm curious what someone at Adobe has to say to this.

I'm thinking of upgrading my CS3 to CS5, but the CS3 license is bought from another country. So am I able to upgrade my CS3 to CS5 where CS3 is purchase in Asia Pacific and CS5 is purchase in US?
Hope can get answer soon, I'm urgently need to upgrade it but I dont want to purchase upgrade that wont work.

The Twain.Plugin conflicted with bad scanner drivers made by scanner manufacturers and caused too many problems so it is not installed by default. Its in the goodies folder.
But I have to ask. Why tie up a $1000 application to use a $100 scanner? Use the scanner as a stand alone with the software that came with the scanner or use VueScan that way you can keep working while you are scanning. BTW you know that you are using the scanner software when you scan through photoshop right. Photoshop has no scanning capabilities built in.

CS3 script runs slow with CS4 and CS5

I have written a table transformation script for InDesign CS3, which formats an imported Excel table.
With InDesign CS3 the script runs well. Now I tried the same script with InDesign CS4 and CS5 and it runs very slow. It's about 10 times slower than with CS3.
I tried to turn off redrawing, but this didn't help. It even got slower again!
Does someone has made similar experiences? Could you solve the performance issue?
Do scripts in CS4/CS5 generally run slower than in CS3?
Does CS4 differ so much to CS3 that the script runs 10 times slower?
What can I do to improve the execution performance?

I now have made some tests with profile / timing. Here are the results.
you find the code snipped below. It iterates first over all rows and then over all cells inside of the row. In the cell iteration, the function hasGapInLineBelow(...) does more iterations.
The example is with a table of 42 rows and 9 cells.
I have compared CS3 and CS5
there are 3 test cases:
for 1/1 means: first for-loop is in iteration 1 and second for loop is in iteration 1 (statements for first row and first cell done)
for 1/9 means: first for-loop is in iteration 1 and second for loop is in iteration 9 (statements for first row and all 9 cells of the row done)
for 2/9 means: first for-loop is in iteration 2 and second for loop is in iteration 2 (statements for second row and all 9 cells of the row done)
it's strange that normal variable assignments take lot of time (like the statement startPos = indexLeftNeightbourOfCurrentCell;) -> I don't understand why this can be so time consuming!?!
it's also strange why in "for 1/9" and "for 2/9" variable assignments take much longer than in "for 1/1"...
could I use another data type than array for the variable isMergedRow? Which one?
do you know any performance optimizations?
in which time unit ExtendScript Toolkit shows the measured periods?
how are the times calculated in loops? Are these the times sumed up over all iterations or is it just the time for a single statement?

Well, I tried that but there is still the issue of adding into the next column after the first one. So its going look like :

I kind of do need these fixed columns but with the ability for everyting to 'shift' up once a title is added into the middle for instance

No I don't have another computer. I was thinking initially I would put them on my ipad but since I don't have enough gb maybe I can store them in some cloud thing? Once again: prints too dark after upgrading CS3 to CS5

Hi, I know this has been discussed before, but I haven't found a solution to my issue in the existing threads. I am most likely missing something obvious, and perhpas someone here can point it out to me.
I recently upgraded from CS3 to CS5. In both editions of photoshop I followed Eric Chan's recipe for setting up the print workflow: http://people.csail.mit.edu/ericchan/dp/Epson3800/printworkflow.html. In CS3 everything works as expected, i.e., the print matches the soft proof. Printing the same image from the same computer/monitor in CS5 produces a print that is much darker than the softproof or the CS3 print.
In case this is relevant, my psd files are all in Adobe RGB 1998, I use the Epson supplied print diver (v5.51) for the Stylus 3800. I use the icc profile for Epson's Exhibition Fiber paper, which is what I am printing on. The conversion method is Relative Calorimetric with Blackpoint Compensation checked. Photoshop runs on a 32bit Windows XP SP3 machine.
Any suggestions? Are there any settings that are not mentioned in Eric Chan's write-up that I should look at to find the source of the difference? Is there anything else that could account for the different prints?

Thank you for the help! Here are the screen shots. I printed the wacked image from CS3 and CS5. In CS3 everything looks right, i.e. the soft proof matches the print. In CS5 the soft proof looks the same as in CS3, but the print is dark. A photo of the printout is attached at the end.

Your next option is to upgrade photoshop. If you can't afford the full version (less than $20/month) you could get elements, it uses the latest version of camera raw, but I think it is a stripped down version though.
