CS3 unexpectably quitting
HI,
I have a very strange problem. This happened with
Dreamweaver a couple of weeks ago and (possibly was due to it
storing most used javascripts in a cache file that got corrupeted).
Now it is happening to Flash CS3: I am working on a little
file and suddenly when I move a movie clip that contins a little
animation, it just quits on me. No error message, no 'you better
save your work, this app has become unstable' message.
Just quits. This is heartwrenchingly annoying, especially as
we jsut paid I don't know ho much to upgrade from Flash 8, to which
this never happened (actually same story with Dreamweaver, but
that's for another forum ....)
Any ideas?

I had a similar issue with CS3 when I upgraded. Do you work
on an external drive with your files, or are they on your root
drive. After talking with the Adobe tech for about half an hour, we
determined that Flash would quit on files that were on a drive that
was not my root,but if they were, for example, on my desktop, I
wouldn't have th problem. This is a big issue for me, as I have a
lot of projects going on, and keep them on a dedicated project
drive. For now, I have taken to copying active projects to a folder
on my root drive, and moving to the projects drive when I am done.
The bug is horrible of course. Hopefully they'll come up with a
solution and update the program. I am actually surprised there are
not more people having this issue. Perhaps there are some other
conditions that must exist for it to happen, so it's not universal.
Just a few thoughts.

InDesign CS3 Unexpectedly quits
Installed InDesign CS3 (actually all of Creative Suite 3 Standard) on a brand new MacPro Intel G5 running Leopard about 5 weeks ago (2 GB ram). (Ran all updates that were available at the time.) All CS3 products were working fine until InDesign started crashing when starting up with the "unexpectedly quit" message. (Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat portions still fine.) In Design had only been started 5-6 times since the initial install was completed.
Have since run OS 10.5.4 update and InDesign 5.0.3 update (and permissions repair, of course). Still will not start. Have dumped InDesign preferences and all Adobefnt.lst files. Have tried starting in safe mode and root user. Still crashes. (Three other older computers with same software - 2 Intel G5s and 1 G4 - are all fine, so it's not like I don't know what I'm doing at all!)
I'm thinking I may have to dump InDesign and reinstall it with all of its updates. I'd really rather figure out what caused the problem and fix that, so I don't have to deal with this yet again.
Upon InDesign startup, it seems to get past the "startup services" portion and crashes on something that has "..SING.." in it. This goes so fast, though (on every computer), that I cannot pick up on the complete phrase.
Anyone know what this "SING" thing is, and what could make it corrupt?

GinnyAddendum to my original post . . . I found something about "SING" in the knowledgebase where it indicated permissions might need to be expanded on that file to include the user being able to read and right. I've done this but to no avail.
What loads immediately after this "SING" thing? I've tried to read this on other computers, but it's just too fast. That could be where InDesign on this computer is crashing, but I don't know what to look for, since I cannot read it at all.

Photoshop CS3 Unexpectedly Quit
I'm using CS3 on a non-intel Imac running Leopard. Never had a problem until today when all of a sudden Photoshop won't allow me to save anything. Every time I try it unexpectedly quits.It did coincide with Adobe Updater trying to update something and failing.
Is there an easy answer??I recalled hearing somewhere that Version Cue was a bad thing so I found this folder,Adobe Version Cue CS3, in the Application Support and deleted it. Bad Idea! Photoshop couldn't even launch. So I used Time Machine and found an earlier copy of the folder and restored it. To my surprise, that somehow fixed my original problem of not being able to save anything.
I wonder if the Adobe Updater corrupted the files inside the folder? Ah, the mysteries of the computer!
By the way, I have about 52 GB left on my HD. -
CS3 Unexpectedly quitting when I press "connect to remote host"
Hi Guys, thanks for previous help.
On an older computer now and CS3 is installed. Below is the report if its ny help when it crashed.
All I need/want to do is upload my files however it crashes everytime, even after a restart.
I have tested my connection to the FTP in the site manager and it works fine.
Any help much appreciated.

Illustrator Unexpectedly Quits
Illustrator CS3 unexpectedly quits when miss-clicking in the layers window.
This will happen from time to time when clicking somwhere between the toggle down arrow and the layer thumbnail.
It happens often enough that it makes me think it's some kind of a bug and not just a random fluke.

Fix for open/save/place unexpected quit in CS3 apps
For those of you still having open/save/place issues, please read the following Adobe TechNote which was issued yesterday:

The TechNote includes a downloadable script (FixVCUIFramework) which fixes these problems.
At last!I keep having the unexpected quit while trying to save on any other hard drive than the computer internal one. So external USB drives and network drives are out of the question when working with any CS3 program.
ID problem open/save/place stopped (if I understood this problem right). Now I don't have to replace the opened file when saving it for the first time after opening.
Another (even more annoying) problem still remains. Browsing the folders of any external drive (when saving/exporting) causes any CS3 programs to quit.
I tried to search the console.app lists:

None of the CS3 crash.logs make any sense to me and do not seem to update when I reconstruct the crash.
I think this started after the last update. I'm using OS 10.4.11. -
CS3 applications unexpectedly quit
CS 3 suite programs were installed and working fine for months until this nice little headache started. The user cannot open Photoshop, Illus, or Indesign but Acrobat, Dreamweaver and Flash all continue to function normally. When we try to open the 3 applications in question we are presented with an error window that reads -
"The application Illustrator has unexpectedly quit.
A crash report has been generated. To provide us with the best chance of fixing this problems please select continue to add a detailed description that includes the steps required to reproduce the crash." "Continue (with crash reporting)" and "Cancel" are the only two options available after error message pops up.
Problem is the only thing we are doing is attempting to open a CS3 application. There are no other applications running at all, besides the native finder.
Machine is a G5 - Dual 2Ghz, 6Gb RAM, OSX 10.4.11 using CS3 Design Prem.
There have been no changes at all to the machine's setup or configuration. No software or hardware was added or removed. It's pretty much a stand-alone workstation with the usual links to our network to share information. Our operators are also aware not to work with CS programs over the network.
Already tried, with no effect:
rebooting / uninstall and reinstall of CS3 suite / trash preferences for applications that are causing the trouble / updated-patch CS3 / repaired permissions / Disk verify-repair / ran disk warrior and other maintenance utilities
Here's the kicker too... All CS3 applications run perfectly under a different user, with NO problems at all. So I'm thinking my problem is linked to a specific user and not the machine or the applications in general.
I'd prefer not to trash the entire user cause that really screws with After Effects plug-ins permissions among other things, but if that's my only choice I'll live with it.
Has anyone witnessed this behavior or error messages before? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.hi [email protected] ,

I installed the CS3 Design Prem few days ago, cannot open Flash, After effects, Premiere,llus, or Indesign but Photoshop, Acrobat and Dreamweaver .
At this time , there was still the AdobeCS2 in my G5. So I tried to move it to trash and already deleted it!
Already tried, with no effect:

I saw you've tried many other methods to solve those problem , ( E.G. trash preferences for applications that are causing the trouble /

Help - CS3 Illustrator unexpected quitting after booting up...
We still run CS3 at my work. When I switched to a mac with Snow Leopard I started to have a minor issue. I turn on my computer, start Adobe Illustrator and when I try to open a file it "Unexpectedly" quits. When I start it again it's fine and works smoothly all day. Has anyone else had this issue?
Try deleting your Illustrator preferences
Try cleaning your font caches. -
Flash won't open (unexpected quit) after system reinstall from Time Machine
After purchasing a new machine, I reinstalled everything from my Time Machine backup, including all applications. Now Flash CS4 gives me "unexpected quits" every time I try to open it. Flash CS3 opens though. I deleted the prefs file and it still won't open.
I have/had a similiar problem. What I did was reset the SMC and PRAM. You can also do a safe boot. For the PRAM, I had to do three times, and my computer finally booted up. Afterwards I verified my disk and repaired my permissions. So far so good. I guessing that Spotlight needed to re-index the system.

Element's 6.0's Bridge doesn't open anymore - says application "unexpectedly quit"
Hello. I purchased my MacBook Pro in late September, and purchased and installed Elements 6.0 for Mac.
Elements and Bridge were both working fine until late October, when one evening its Bridge CS3 application suddenly froze, so I had to force-quit it, and now every time I try to open Bridge I instead get this message:
"The application Bridge CS3 has unexpectedly quit."
I posted this question in the Elements forum, where I was advised to launch the updater from PSE Help Menu -> Updates, which I did, getting the message that there were "no updates available."
I was also advised to reset my Adobe Bridge preference files (by pressing and holding in the Option key as I launched Bridge), which I did but that didn't work either. I still get the same error message whenever I try to open Bridge, which I have been unable to open since October.
I was further advised to ask in this forum, to see if anyone could help me trying to solve this problem.
I will appreciate some advice on this. Thanks.

Arlington, VAAs I'm not familiar with Bridge version for elements it might have the same
places were it stores cache and plist file.
First try to delete the Bridge list file (user/library/preference) and in
here find adobeBridge plist file and drag this to the trash. (it will renew
itself with a fresh new file after restarting Bridge).
Restart Bridge holding down option and try again.
If not then close ridge again and in same user library but now cache folder
find the cache folder for Bridge (can be a very large file when having used
much files). (user/library/caches/Adobe/BridgeCS3 and inhere place the
cachefile outside the library (or drag it to the trash)
With this action you will need to recache all your previous cached files but
together with plist file and refresh prefs you have an almost new install
for Bridge.
Bridge CS3 is not the best version for bridge to say the least, I often used
this method (once every 5 or 6 weeks) because it had very much issues which
I solved with those actions. CS4 is more stable and faster, but you need to
upgrade and that is not for free...
I was further advised to ask in this forum, to see if anyone could help me
trying to solve this problem.

Unexpected Quit, InDesign 2.0.2, Mac OS 10.4.11
All of a sudden this afternoon InDesign 2.0.2 has started quitting ONLY when I go to click on the 'file' menu. I can open the program, I can click on any other menu, I can even double-click on a file to open it and work in it... but if I go to the 'file' menu, I get the "this program has unexpectedly quit" message and everything is lost.
Even though it isn't for my version of Mac OS, I tried the id202_quitfix_all.hqx fix from Adobe. No luck. I deleted any new fonts from the last two weeks, even though the problem just started this afternoon. No luck. I've found a lot about a similar problem in CS3, but not much in my version. Any suggestions for what I should try next? Thanks in advance!
My specs: Intel iMac, 2 ghz, 2 gigs of ram, 140 gigs of free space on the HD, running 10.4.11.I, too, am experiencing unexpected quits with 2.0.2, running OS 10.4.11, but on a Dual 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4, with 2 GB RAM and 39 GB of available disk space. ID2 crashes in a progressively touchy way in certain files (I'm guessing the files are corrupted somehow?), to the point where simply navigating to another page or going to the Save menu causes the quit. The file reopens when I reboot ID, but no repairs have taken place.
I've tried to "Save As" with a different file name but (if I can Save at all) the cloned file is just as touchy. I don't understand the "create a new user" suggestion by Buko. Is that a Finder level user (as in the house icon folder in which my documents are stored)?
I have draft version PDFs of my bad files, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to recreate the layouts. Is there any way to truly recover these files and, more importantly, do something to fix ID2 so I don't lose more work?
What's most baffling to me is that I've had this configuration (G4 and InDesign 2) for several years without major problems. Have the Tiger updates, over time, created the tension with the older Adobe software? -
Photoshop cs2 unexpectedly quits OX 10.5.8
Suddenly a few weeks ago I can't do anything in Photoshop on my Mac without it unexpectedly quitting about a minute into waht I am doing.
I was using Photoshop CS2 9.0 in OX 10.5.8
I did a disk repair
I took Photoshop off and reinstalled a few times.
Upgraded to 9.1
and now 9.0.2

CS2 is old, and ran just fine on PowerPC processors.
But you're running under emulation (called Rosetta), not a real PowerPC processor.
We can't tell if the emulator is failing (and it has a lot of bugs, and Apple has stopped supporting it), or if you are hitting something else - because the emulator makes it near impossible to debug problems.
Photoshop CS3 and later are Intel native. -
Adobe Media Encoder Unexpectedly Quits
Hello,
I was trying to export a flv file from CS4 today and I have been receiving an error Adobe has detected that the application adobe media encoder CS4 has Unexpectedly quit. I?m using CS4 4.1 and the matrox 4.1 beta build.
Here are our settings:
This was originally a CS3 project now opened in CS4. The source footage is 720p, 29.97fps, m2t files
I was exporting them with the adobe media encoder
Flv F4v
Using no filters
Format Flv
Video
On2 VP6 Codec
Not encoding the alpha channel
Resize to 640X360 (half size)
Frame rate: same as source
CBR one pass 500kbps
Set key frame 150
Undershoot target 90% (this is new to me I left it at the default but what does this mean?)
And Simple Profile is not checked (This is new to me I left it at the default but what does this mean?)
Quality: high
Audio
Stereo 64kbps
I tried making a wav file and a F4V and neither of those caused Adobe Media encoder to shut down. But as soon as I try making a flv using these settings the encoder opens then comes up with this error. I would think it has something to do with my settings maybe I need to change something. What should I do and what is a F4V file??

Has anyone out there updated their adobe media encoders? Whenever I go to file export I get a dialogue that says there is a update available. My editing system has not been connected to the internet so I have not tried updating yet.
We are using the Adobe 4.1 and Matrox utils 4.1beta.
we are using a Matrox Axio LE system.
In other tests I tried exporting from a 720p 59.94 project using m2ts and a 720x486 29.97fps SD project where the source file was a uncompressed AVI but both were unsuccessful.
I can however open up the adobe media encoder if I chose F4V upon export. When I choose FLV the encoder opens then quits. With F4V the encoder actually opens but when I select start queue the encoder just sits there and does nothing.
I have also just tried another test exporting from 720p 59.94pfs 1.0 PAR. to M2V which didn't work.
The encoder actually opens this time but when I start encoding the encoder just sits there. I can see that it starts to create a file in the specified destination but never really gets going.
I was using these settings: export Audio and Video, no multiplexing,
720x480 Quality 5 (all the way up, Progressive frames,
4:3
Audio 16bit 48khz,

Illustrator crashes while loading (Illustrator has unexpectedly quit message)mac

If anyone has had this problem, I have found a fix that worked. Illustrator has unexpectedly quit, crash during initialization of the program during loading.
In my case it was a font that I downloaded called ZEBRA that caused Illustrator to crash during this loading period. I had no Idea that corrupt fonts could effect the application in this way. I went through all of the steps that I could think of to fix this problem including, re-setting the preferences folder within CS3, running disk utility to reset user permissions, re-installing Illustrator and safe mode startup. I even created another user account to test and see if it was a user settings corruption. What I found was that Illustrator would open and function properly when using the newly created user account from startup. After this I ran the mac in safe mode from start up of my original user account. In doing this I was able to start Illustrator again without the crash occurring.
At this point I went to my font book application and tried to find a corrupt font. At first I hi-lighted all of the fonts and went to File-Validate fonts. This process gave me some fonts with errors which I then deleted from my font book. Again, I tried to open Illustrator and still the same error (Unexpectedly Quit). I then went to font book, hi-lighted all fonts and disabled all fonts. After this I tried to open Illustrator. Amazingly Illustrator loaded with no problem. Ok now I know the problem lies in a corrupt font. Evidently you can have a corrupt font and it not show up while validating fonts. In the end I had to go through all the user fonts and de-activated them, then try to open Illustrator to see which font was corrupt and delete it. It was a little easier to select a group to deactivate and then narrow it down to just one font.
In my case the corrupt font was ZEBRA that I had to delete. I downloaded this font online for free. So if you have this problem after downloading a font online, this is more than likely the problem. After this everything was back to normal
Sorry for such a long explanation. I hope this saves someone the time and headache I had to go through to fix mine.
Thanks Mike.Well I don't have that Zebra font, and I've just installed this for the first time. I have been troubleshooting this for many hours between yesterday and today, and I've tried every suggestion I've found in this forum and a couple of things not mentioned. I have no preferences to delete since it's never successfully opened, and I put in a help ticket with Adobe yesterday, but I'm frustrated because nothing like this has ever happened to me before in 24 years of doing computer graphics. So if anyone has any further suggestions not covered thus far, I'm open to them!
This is what I've tried so far:
Installation went fine. I registered and activated the software. First attempt (and every attempt) the software crashes at start up. I tried installing the updates, verifying my fonts, deactivating downloaded fonts, restarting the computer, and tried to open it in my alternate user account. I tried using the disc to uninstall and reinstall (3 times after the first). I tried opening the software in safe mode. I tried installing it in the alternate user account.
I am running Mac OS 10.4.11 Tiger on a G5 PPC with 92 GB free HD memory, 2.5 GB RAM, 2.1 GHZ processor. PS CS3 runs fine and is unaffected by any of this.

Element's 6.0's Bridge does not open - says application "unexpectedly quit"
Hello. I am unable to open Bridge CS3, which came with my Elements 6.0 for Mac software that I purchased brand new a month ago for my new MacBookPro.
The program was working fine until a couple of days ago when, while uploading images to my Smugmug account (which I had done many times before, with this particular program and the new computer), it completely froze and I had to hard-quit it. Now, I am simply unable to open Bridge, and I get instead this message when I try to do so: "The application Bridge CS3 has unexpectedly quit."
I am new to this forum and I'm not an expert in Photoshop at all, so I'd like to see if anyone has any thoughts on what I should do?
I've done google searches and some people suggest downloading the latest updates to my particular program, but I can't find Elements 6.0 in the updates section of the Adobe website (I can only find Elements 8.0), and since I can't open Bridge, I am unable to try to get updates through the program itself.
I will appreciate some advice on this. Thanks.

Arlington, VATry resetting your Adobe Bridge preference files. I think on the Mac you can just press and hold in the Option key as you launch Bridge to get the preference dialog to come up. (Windows will do it with the Ctrl key.)
If the Option key shortcut is incorrect, press Command + Option + Shift keys as you launch. If you prefer to do this manually:

If a reset of the preference file alone doesn't work, I'd check all of the Bridge boxes in the reset dialog and attempt to launch Bridge again.
I believe Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac includes the same Bridge application as CS3 so I think you should download the update for CS3 Bridge if you prefer to do it manually.
