CS3 upgrade - installation issues

Hello there,
I recently purchased a second hand copy of Adobe CS2 Standard with a CS3 upgrade.
Filled in a transfer of licence that went through.
Anyway I was advised to install CS2 first before the CS3 so I did this but when I went to install CS3, I faced this problem:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/627206/Picture%208.png
It will only allow me to tick the install Adobe 8. The rest shows up as 'already installed.'
I have tried uninstalling all the adobe products, using app cleaner and installing on the CS3.
But still no luck.
Called Adobe support but they said they no longer support CS3.
Grr.
Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi, thank you for your quick response!
I tried that several times but still not working...
I am working in CS2 for now but when I open any illustrator files I created in CS3, it corrupts it.
Scary stuff!
Pleaaaase help!

  • CS3 upgrade installation

I am trying to install CS3 on a new PC as my old one is on its last legs and about to be dumped. However, it is an upgrade version and I do not have any qualifying proiducts on the new PC. When I try to install it, most of the components will not install.
I have seen the KB article regarding the issue of components not installing and I have looked into this but to no avail. However, I am guessing that's because the issue is due to the point above, i.e. that it's an upgrade on an 'empty' PC.
Can anyone confirm if (a) that is the case and (b) what I can do about it?
    Thanks for your help.
    Dave.

Sorry I should have Googled the activation thing before my last post.
However, I deactivated CS3 on the old PC via the link in Photoshop (Dreamweaver’s and Acrobat’s deactivation link were greyed out) and it made no difference.
I tried re-installing and the same thing happened. I ran CS3Clean and tried re-installing and, again, the same thing.
Just a couple of points that may help. On both of these installations the time it took was about 15 minutes as opposed to 23 minutes earlier and on both it stopped installing at about 83% and jumped to the screen showing the uninstalled components. At the 83% point it was in the process of installing Adobe Version Cue CS3 Server.

  • DW CS3 Trial Installation ISSUE!!

I've been trying for about a week to install this trial
version on my work computer - we're switching from GoLive and want
to make sure that this is the right thing for us. I have Windows XP
Professional version 2002 with Service Pack 2. I have
plenty of space. The download process seems to go fine, and
when I go to install, the extraction process appears to come off
with out a hitch. But when the actual installation occurs, it won't
work. Every single time I do it, I get an error at the finish,
    saying 3 things:
    -Successfully installed: 1 component(s):
    Shared components
    -Errors: 2 component(s):
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 - component install failed
Shared Components - component install failed.
    2 questions:
    1) Why is the dang thing contradicting itself? It tells me
that the shared components were both installed successfully and
that the install failed. Uh. So which is it? I can see Bridge, etc.
in my program files, so I assume it installed ok. And yet this
tells me that the install failed.
    2) What in the world am I doing wrong??? One of the tech guys
here has been trying to install it as well (on my machine) and he
has been equally unsuccessful. He DID manage to install it on his
machine fine though - with AutoCad running and everything. Our
network admin said that my machine is pretty new, so there
shouldn't be any problems with it.
    Any ideas...???

I´ve got exactly the same answer at the end of the
installation process. I´ve tried several times and cannot have
a sucessful installation. I have Windows XP sp2 plenty of space too
(more than 100GB of disk space and 2GB of RAM) what´s the
    problem?
    Thank you

  • TCS 4 upgrade installation issue

    Hi,
Our IT department could not get the downloaded update (TCS 3.0 to TCS 4.0) to install properly. It would pause and ask for Disk 2 (??) with no option for directing it to the downloaded files. I downloaded the trial version and installed it; seems to be working OK (without the serial number).
Can I register the trial version that is currently installed with the serial number I have been provided? If yes, then how do I register? Or, is it safer to allow the trial period to expire and then provide the serial number? I don't see where I can enter the serial number with the trial version.
    Thanks!

I think some installation files may be missing in your downloaded setup and hence you are getting the prompt for Disk 2. Please try a fresh download from the web installer.
You can register your trial with a Adobe ID and a serial number anytime. When you launch the product, a Trial screen comes up. Select License Your Software button, then enter your Adobe ID ( you will need to create a new one in case you don't already have it). Once registered, you will get Serial Number screen where you can enter the serial number provided to you.
    Hope that helps,

  • PS cs3 upgrade

Can I install PS CS3 upgrade over a free CS2?

    There is no "free CS2".
The modified CS2 download was made available to those who already owned a legitimate license to CS2. Not to freeloaders.
    You are using it illegally.
No, the modified serial number you have will NOT be accepted by a CS3 upgrade installer.

  • Can't install CS3 Upgrade on NEW iMac 24". An Imac DVD drive issue?

My CS3 Design Premium Upgrade CD fails to install Photoshop on my BRAND NEW iMac yet it is able to install everything else on the CS3 disc. I just bought this iMac yesterday and CS2/CS3 Upgrade are the FIRST things I installed (besides updates) when I turned it on. I'm still using 10.4.10.
I searched through the Adobe forums and the internet as to how others with the same issue have dealt with the problem, but it seems the most common reason is that people had installed Photoshop CS3 beta previously as well as older Flash/Acrobat plug-ins conflicting with the installation process. Further, these causes seem to be effecting Windows users.
So a few hours ago I tried to COPY the upgrade CD contents to my hard disk, I get the message:
"The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in 'AdobePhotoshop 10en_US.dmg' could not be read or written. (Error code -36)."
This procedure of copying to the disk (and the resulting error message) is SPECIFICALLY addressed in the Adobe support pages TechNotes:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401429&sliceId=2
The page says that it may be a drive issue that is causing the problem. Of the 7 possible solutions given on the page, I've narrowed it down to only 1 option left (but I can't try it since I don't have another Mac!):
"*Solution 4*: Copy the software to the hard drive of a different computer.
*If the software copies successfully, the model of DVD drive on your original computer might not be able to read the DVD. Contact the DVD drive or computer manufacturer for any updates that might be available.*"
But what's funny (or annoying rather) is, I had a 20" Alum 2.4 iMac earlier this year (returned because of screen problem), and the CS3 upgrade installed without any problems on it!..??? And according to the iMac specs, the 20" and 24" models both have the same DVD drive make right?
Any ideas??? Are there other 24" iMac users who are experiencing similar problems? If not, then I guess I may have to return yet another iMac...which I'm reluctant to do since this screen is PERFECT! I'm scared to get another iMac with the dreaded screen gradient issue.

    I just solved the problem.
I tried copying the DVD files to the hard disk about 7-8 more times. The last try SUCCESSFULLY copied to the disk and I was able to install Photoshop CS3.
    Yay.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS & CS3 upgrade issues

I have recently obtained an original disc of adobe photoshop CS and an original disc of adobe photoshop CS3 upgrade to install on my Imac which is running lion at the moment, only to be told that power pc programmes are no longer recognised. I was intending to install the  original Photoshop CS and then upgrade it to CS3, however due to this issue i cant install the original disc.
I have read that if i revert back to snow leopard then i would be able to install these programms without issue, but the question is then if i then update the OS system to lion, would the updated version of photoshop CS3 still work, being on the back of CS? or would it stop working?
If this updated programme does not work, am i better having a partitioned disc just to run snow leopard and to use photoshop, and if this is the case would i be able to access all saved images and files when running the lion side of the partition in order to sync these with i cloud and my ipad?
    regards

The bootable Snow Leopard partition is the way I would do it.
    Borrowed from Kappy,
    Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    7. After formatting is complete quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard being sure to select the external drive as the target.
Note that you will need a Snow Leopard DVD. The above will only work for you if you can boot your computer from a Snow Leopard DVD. If you have a new model that came with Lion pre-installed then the above will not work because a Snow Leopard retail DVD cannot boot your model.
Then install your CS and CS3 and run them in SL. If the images are stored in a seperate drive/partition then it should work seamlessly.

I'm trying to install Adobe Photoshop CS3 on a new ASUS ASM11BB001O computer equipped with 64-bit Windows 7.  I use a "bundle" approach, first loading Photoshop 6, then upgrading with CS upgrade and then CS3 upgrade.  The installation goes smoothly until I add PS CS, and then it balks at the "accept" Adobe conditions screen.  I have two other (Gateway) computers with Windows 7, 64-bit, on both of which the PS-6, CS-CS3 pathway worked fine.  Any thoughts on how to get this working?  Thanks

If your goal is to install and activate CS5 there is no need to install anything preceding it.  You will only need to have the serial number from the preceding version that you upgrade from (CS3 I guess).

I have CS2 and would like to do Image Stacking.    I understand CS3 allows this.  correct?     Am I wiser to purchase CS3 upgrade.  Am I going to run into issues with install?

Well, I refuse to sign up to pay Adobe a monthly tribute for life too, but that doesn't mean we are limited to CS3.
    I'm staying with CS6.
Adobe still sells a perpetual-license to Photoshop CS6 without the subscription model, but it's $700 for the Standard version and a cool $1,000 for the Extended version.
You haven't mentioned your platform, Macintosh or Windows, so make sure CS3 or any other obsolete version you buy actually runs on a modern operating system.
    Good luck.

  • Installing CS3 Upgrade On New Laptop That's Not Had Full Install

    Frustrated!
Got a new laptop for Christmas. OS is Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
    My original full is Version 5, which has been upgraded to 5.5 - 6 - 7 - CS2 & CS3.
CS3 upgrade is currently installed on my desktop machine running Window XP SP2.
I'm trying to install on my new laptop as my 2nd install, but the installation keeps failing!
With each attemt I expect to be asked to stick the original install disc (version 5) to verify but that does not happen, it never asks for it!
I have tried both Run as administatror and also in XP compatibility mode with zero results.
Am I going to need to install the full version 5 and then go through installing upgrades until I get to CS3? I'm trying to avoid all that time if possible!

Near as I can tell you haven't named one specific error message in all your posts above.
Could you be a little more specific about what's going wrong when you say:
    Sapphire Studios wrote:

You've leapt to the conclusion that it's a problem with the software being an upgrade; I'd like to confirm that, that's all.
By the way, there were problems with even Photoshop CS5 working on some AMD processors up until an update was released (well after the initial release of PS CS5)...  Not sure if this has anything to do with what you're doing, but if even more modern versions of Photoshop didn't get along with AMD processors there could be a compatibility issue...  Did Photoshop CS3 specifically claim compatibility with the type of AMD processor you have, or is there too much of a time difference between them?

  • CS3 'freezed' installation problem on Windows Vista Home Premium.

Hi! I searched everywhere for answer that installation of my PS CS3 is freezed in moment on the screen.
I installed Acrobat Reader, Dreamweaver cs3 only. Both in English language.
I tried to uninstall, then install, using cs3clean, but it`s nothing change in my situation. Even I tried to copy whole content of my cs3 installation disk to hard drive.
Why installation is freezed ? The screen:

    Thanks, best regards!
Ps2. Sorry for my english :)

    Kasprzak,
How long did you allow it to sit like this? Only reason that I ask is that I recently did an install on my laptop, and the DVD drive was EIDE and it took probably 20 mins. to get through each disc.

  • Upgrade - Installation CRM 7.0 with W2K3 and J2EE AddIn

    Hi all,
Because of the end of maintance I have to upgrade CRM 4.0 to CRM 7.0.
During the upgrade phase Iu2019ve detected changes within the CRM System installation and architecture.
First thing I discover was that itu2019s not possible to install CRM 7.0 with the W2K3 64bit OS.
You have to install the system with Windows 2008 Standard 64bit Edition.
All our SAP Systems running with W2K3 64bit OS with very good performance and that is why itu2019s our standard OS.
The different between W2K3 and W2K8 is enormous. (Everyone who changed from WinXP to Win Vista knows what I mean.)
Even the change of the SAP Kernel causes yet unknown problems
But I thought so what, thatu2019s IT and upgraded the ABAP stack to 7.0
The upgrade was fine and finished.
After that I would like to install the missing J2EE Components and TREX.
But the next catch Iu2019ve discovered was that it isnu2019t possible to install the J2EE Engine as an AddIn Installation into the upgraded ABAP Engine.
    Wow, thatu2019s a thing!!!!
Our company IT strategy is System consolidating and now I should make 9 out-of 3 systems.
    (DEV-QS-PROD Landscape)
Not to mention the administrative complexityu2026.
Now Iu2019m searching for solutions to avoiding this problems.
For the J2EE AddIn installation I want to try a intermediate upgrade to a former CRM Release where a AdIn Inst is possible (e.g. CRM 5.0 or something) and than upgrade to CRM 7.0
But whatu2019s about the prescribed OS W2K8?
As far as I know there is no SAPinst for a CRM 7.0 Upgrade/Installation under W2K3.
Ok, for a company with a huge webshop it makes sense, but our webshop isnu2019t so big that there could be same performance problems.
As noted before, all our SAP Systems running with a W2K3 64bit OS and we donu2019t have performance problems.
Does anyone have an idea how I can solve my CRM 7.0 Inst/Upgrade Problems?
    Best regards
    Mario Fischer

    Hi Mario,
We installed CRM 7.0 a couple of months back with DVD- 51035700 (Master) on a Win 2003 server.
NW 7.01 (base for CRM 7.0) is supported on Win 2K3...but PAM does mention 2008 exclusively for CRM 7.0
As far as the Java Add In is concerned, ABAP & JAVA stacks have been seperated in order to simplify things.
The dual stack was difficult to administer & manage; hence, now you need to install 2 different systems & connect them via JCO.
We had a 16 GB server for CRM 7.0, which instead of hosting one "ABAP+JAVA" system, now has 2 systems (a seperate ABAP system & a seperate JAVA one)..n so far we havn't faced any issues as such.
In fact it's a good thing that since the 2 stacks have been seperated, the dependancy factor's been minimized.
    Thanks,
    Have a nice day,
    S

  • Mac OSX: Flash CS3 Font Install Issues

    Hi,
I have a Mac Powerbook G4 with OS X installed and Adobe CS3.
I've installed a font. The font works in Photoshop and Illustrator
but not in Flash CS3. Why? I've put the font in the Library/Fonts
folder and the User/Fonts folder and it still doesn't show up in
Flash. Apparently this is a problem for a number of people see
    another forum here:
    MAC
OSX: Flash CS3 Font Install Issues Forum
Please let me know what to do to fix this. I need to be able
to work with the font in all three applications Flash, Photoshop
    and Illustrator.

    Hi davidd61713525,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
Unfortunately, it looks like something is wrong with the file system and the installer can't see the root drive to install to.  A Google search returns numerous results affecting various products and the recurring theme is that something is wrong with the disk.  There are many recommendations from various sources, but nothing definitive.
Here's a similar thread over on the Apple forums:
Broken Installer Permissions | Apple Support Communities
    And a similar older one:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1203509
I would try the following options:
Try using the PKG installer. This is used Mac SysAdmins to install Flash Player within their organization and uses a slightly different installer path, which may or may not work.
Some people have had success with disk and permissions repair some have not.  You can try running a disk and permissions repair.  After the disk and permissions repair is complete, reboot the system and try to install again using either the online installer (get.adobe.com/flashplayer) or the offline installer, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page in the ‘Still having problems’ section.
If these options do not work, I'd reach out to Apple support to see if they have a suggestion.  If you do find a resolution to this, please let me know.  I'll be happy to share it with people that encounter the problem in the future.
    Maria
