[CS3-VBA] Can i fight odd coding in stylenames?

After importing RTF-doc i got attached character styles:
ENOI?IEE Ciae
Caaieiaie 4 Ciae
(i'm not sure, that wrong codin displays exactly)
In other words, style names has kinda Turkish (or smth else) symbols.
Problem is: Indi cannot work with this names. Indi can show these names in debugger window, but cannot address them (for change or raplace routine.
Can i "translate" in some way such stylenames into true symbols? Or to make Indi to find this styles in common way

And here is stylesheet, how it should look like with name by correct symbols (i got this screen after importing word-type doc). Unfortunately i have to import only RTF-type docs, cause in Word-type docs Index dissapers after importing.
OK. I think that is VBA-problem. It cannot read odd symbols (from sheet above) But Indi can. I'll try to check names by symbols, as you advised.

I thought, it would be more reasonable to change style names in latin in sourse document for preventing chars "distortion".

Why do you need InDesign CS (that is version 3) or InDesign CS3 (that is Version 5) to install InDesign CS5.5 (it is version 7.5)?
If it is an upgrade and asks you to input your serial of an older version, you have to get an find it. No one will help you here. If you can't find it and if you have not registered it, you are out of luck. You will have to spend money for a new version.

Let us Assume the Font Type is Arial.
I Need to create a File with Two Sheets.
1) First Sheet
a) Serial No
b) Path of the Files ( Excel Files to check the Format)
2) Second Sheet
If the Font is not Arial. We have to track the File Name (that we should get it from First Sheet Path Column) , Cell Number (ex: C3), Cell Value.
Is that Possible?

But the above code is taking long time to run.
Basically I have a Main file which calls set of files in a certain folder. When I click on Check format button I need to compare all the file mentioned in the Main file.
When comparing the Main sheet should create a new sheet with all the Failures of Format checking Results.
I mean which are NON-Arial. The newly created sheet should have 3 columns
1) File Name
2) Sheet Name
3) Cell Name - Cell Value - Arial Font is not matching

How can I change the coding of a background image?

I am close to successfully uploading my first website. My one remaining issue: one of my pages isn't showing properly. When I called my hosting service, they tell me that there is an error in the coding of the background image.
It is currently:

There is an extra underscore between "Us_files". It should be:

I almost have it fixed. One small remaining problem:
My link to the "Contact Us" page isn't working from the top Nav bar. That's the one that is in the iWeb template I used. It's linking to:

which doesn't exist.
The nav bar at the bottom link to:
http://www.cashmerepersonalconcierge.com/Contact_Us.html
which works.
Once again I see the extra space/underscore is the problem, but I can't figure out how to get to it. I resaved my folders and re-uploaed the "Contact_Us.html" page as well as all my other html pages to troubleshoot.

Premiere CS3: How can you encode xml cue point data in the chapter section of a marker for FlashVid?

Hi there,
I'm a total newb to this forum, so hello adobe premiere community! I'm perplexed by Adobes documentation on Premiere (and I'm sure I'm not the first ) anyway on the live documents page below:

it states that:
“The cue point data in the Chapter field of a sequence marker in Adobe Premiere Pro will be encoded as Flash XML. For the XML protocol required, see Flash Help.”
Which is great…except this information doesn’t exist seemingly in either the Premiere documentation or Flash either for that matter, but as I’m interested in working with the chapter/marker area in Premiere – should I really be told to go off and search the documentation for another application, probably not! What would have been useful would have been a code snippet saying you do it like this, but of course, that would make things too easy!
Basically, I understand that in After FX you can add Flash marker information specifically for interpretation when exporting to Flash Video (i.e. name, type and parameters etc) and it suggests that you can do the same above in Premiere CS3 using some kind of concatenated string in the chapter area…it just doesn’t tell you how anywhere seemingly – WHY ADOBE!
Currently when I export markers as cue points based on the advice in the page above, anything I put in the chapter section to force Premiere to create a cue point is converted to a string, which becomes the cue point ‘name’.
This cue point name is then automatically appended to the ‘time’ the marker was inserted at and is always encoded as type ‘navigation’, with no obvious means of adding ‘parameters’ into the equation.
So (finally) does anyone know if you can insert this information into the chapter area for correct interpretation by flash (i.e. thus allowing you to choose between either 'navigation' or 'event' types, and pass as many 'parameters' as you wish etc) or are you just limited to supplying a name, and it being automatically set to the navigation type with no parameters?
I’m sorry for this long essay but at least the issue is well defined for you to answer, honestly any help you can provide what so ever would really be most appreciated!

Thanks for your reply, which is indeed useful as clearly Adobe have made this task easier and less obscure in CS4 by adding simple interface functionality, however I'm stuck with using CS3 for the moment. Its not majorly a problem as the video material in question can be exported uncompressed then setup with cue points using the Flash encoder as an alternative (i.e. or even After FX CS3 also) which both provide the same features as Premiere CS4 seemingly. It is just that it would be much easier to be able to drop in simple markers whilst working with Premiere CS3, as this is what we are going to be using primarily, I just wondered if anyone knew how to invoke this in CS3 - its possible you can't, the documentation is vague at best!

As I say in the title, I own Photoshop CS3 and I heard you could upgrade to CS5 or CS6 from that version. I've looked online and I can't find anything, either the links are broken or they bring me to an irrelevant page.
If anyone has any insight please help me!
P.S., the hoops one has to go through just to ask this question... I am quite lost.

There are no longer any upgrades from CS3 to any later versions of Photoshop. CS3 is too old to qualify.
As a CS3 owner, you can however get a discounted monthly fee for the Cloud version. The discount lasts for 12 months. Then it's back to the regular monthly fee.

[CS3] How can I jump to an embedded frame?

I'm using Flash CS3 with ActionScript 2.0 and I have a
project with just one scene. Within the scene are 10 frames and
within each of the 10 frames are movieclips that I'm going to call
"chapters". Each of the chapters have numerous frames within them
that we want to user to go through one at a time. We have a "next"
and "back" button on each frame so they can go back a frame to
review something and go forward a frame once they've sat through
the content on the frame.
The problem is that when they enter a new chapter I don't
know how to code the "back" button to go back to the last frame of
the previous chapter. I tried this code:

_parent.gotoAndStop(_parent._currentframe - 1);
gotoAndStop(12);
which takes you to the first frame of the previous chapter,
but I think once you're there it doesn't see the code to
gotoAndStop(12) (12 being the last frame of the previous chapter).
How would I get it to go to the previous chapter and then jump to
frame 12?

Thanks for the info, I'll have to keep that in mind for
future projects, but we've been working on this for about 2 months
and it would be a huge burden to have to change the navigation
system now. Here's a photo of the main timeline:

All of the chapters are set up the same way. There is a
"chapter" movieclip on each of the frames in Scene 1 so all of the
base items (background, navigation buttons, etc) are the same in
every chapter.
So, if anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

CS3 - How can I preserve Links and Hyperlinks in my INDB?

I am still pretty new to ID, so please speak slowly :)
My problem - I create an INDB that consists of several indd chapters. The chapters include numerous Links (to PNG & PSD images) and Hyperlinks both to Text anchors to other chapters within the INDB, as well as to URLs. I have all items saved on my local HD. Once complete, I do "Package for Print", check the Preflight report to make sure all is OK (it is) and then save the new INDB folder in a new location on my local HD. This all seems to work just fine, BUT if I move this packaged INDB folder (such as to a backup drive, or give to another worker that copies it to their HD), upon opening the INDB file, some links and Hyperlinks are broken.
It seems that these broken Links and Hyperlinks are still pointing to the original locations on my HD. But obviously not all are, since most links/hyperlinks DO work fine. The Hyperlinks to Text anchors within other indd chapters seem to typically break. Is there a way to force these to reference the packaged assets within the INDB folder? Seems ID would be smart enough to look there itself!
Also, I was creating some Hyperlinks as "cross referenced" - that is, I created a URL Hyperlink Destination in Chapter 1 indd and then created Hyperlinks pointing to it from other chapter indd in the book. I have learned that these ALWAYS break in the above scenario, so I started creating the URL destination within the same chapter indd and pointing to it there rather than across chapters. But this is just more work to keep re-creating the same URL destination in every indd!
I'll keep running into these problems since I need to share my finished INDB with other CS3 users. I also would like to be able to do a Save As of the INDB when creating a revised, newer version, but I see this also results in the new INDB links/hyperlinks still pointing to the original INDB's assets! Any way to make the Save As update the Links/Hyperlinks in the new INDB?

Step back a second... It is like selecting multiple cells and setting the text color of the currently selected cells to red. This can be done. More than one cell at a time modified because they are currently selected.
Whats is being asked is: if more than one cell is selected at the same time can the settings "Preserve Row" an / or "Preserve Column" be applied. No table I put up will help with that question.

I have cs3 and can't get to work on 8.1 windows. Can I download a trial of Fireworks and use my product key for full activation?

I use only Photoshop and Fireworks from my CS3 cd. It is not compatible with 8.1 windows. Can I download a trial of Fireworks from the Adobe site and activate by using my product key from the original cd's? I have looked for patches and to no avail. Please help me with this as I need for making prints of my oil paintings.

I rarely use Fireworks for printing, but rather to render or perfect my images. I have used Fireworks for about 17 years and just feel comfortable with it. I use Photoshop as well, and see the simularities. I see the handwriting on the wall with Fireworks maybe going to greener pastures, but still feel comfortable with it. I received my original Macromedia cd from my Son as a gift and another gift years later. I am launching a new art form, "Conceptual Art" on my site, and require Fireworks. PS7 compatible with CS3? Can't open file in PS7

Have a problem I'm hoping to get some help with.
Have a client running PS7 with no option to upgrade.
I've saved my PSD in CS3 with the preference to maximize compatibility set to "Always", removed all layer styles, layer sets, effects...everything. It's just text layers and pixel layers. They still can't open it.
Am I doing something wrong or are they just not compatible?
Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

No one should be running Photoshop 7. The 7.0.1 is
mandatory.
Make sure there are no Smart Filters or Smart Objects in the file, nor anything that includes any feature that didn't exist in Photoshop 7.x.
