CS3 Video Encoder w/ .m2v and .wav files

Hello - I use the CS3 video encoder to prepare Youtube videos. I usually input an avi file and it works great. However, I have a few videos which are seperate video (.m2v) and audio (wav) files. What is the easiest way or best program to use to enable me to convert these files for use w/the video encoder?
TIA

Premiere & After Effects can do that, if you don't have these tools, then you can also use some free tools: check www.videohelp.com for more information on this.

    Hi,
Product name: Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 with Encore.
Latest version available of Adobe Premiere Pro CS3.
    Operating system: Vista Ultimate
Computer: DELL Dimension 9200, 2 GB RAM, 3gHz dual, 500GB HDD.
    Here my scenario:
When I capture my 1 hour movie from my MiniDV to my hard drive using Premiere, it generate a .avi (13GB) file.
It also generate a .m2v (1.5GB) and a .wav (500MB) file for the timeline.
Since it's smaller, it's easier to work with.
BUT when I export everything to Encore, the finish product on DVD is only 1.5GB.
What happen with the rest of the 13GB avi.
I have a 8GB DVD DL, I can put more than 1.5GB. Is there a way to tell Premiere or Encore to use this file just before the burn?
(Of course it will need to compress the 13GB to 8GB.)
Thanks in advance for your time.
    Regards,
    François.

One problem with the Export movie option.
Every time you want to make a new version of a DVD in encore (or any other DVD authoring program) it will have to go through the lengthy encoding process.
Here's a way to only encode once.
    In premiere pro:
    File> Export> Adobe media encoder
In the top right select MPEG2-DVD from the drop down list.
In the tabs below you can change your bitrates and set your other options. The higher the bitrates of audio and video the higher the quality. Look at the estimated file size down the bottom of the window. Keep it under the capacity of the disc you will burn to. Leave some room for DVD menus if they apply.
In the multiplexer tab choose DVD as the option. This will make one file that you can bring into Encore and this way you can make as many versions as you like in Encore without it having to do any encoding, this could save you many hours potentially.
I always recommend rendering out only a small amount of video for the first time just to test. You can still burn this small section to DVD to test on your TV that the whole workflow is going fine.
Select a small bit of footage in premiere with the work area bars and when you're rendering with the media encoder set the 'range' to 'Work area'. No point re-rendering EVERYTHING just to fix some small problem.

  • CS3 Video Encoder not as good as FLIX?

I had the disturbing experience yesterday of having to ask my
client to encode their own flv for me to use. They had given me a
QT file, which for whatever reason, had a glitch in it that
prevented it from properly encoding on my stock CS3 video encoder
software. They don't have Flash, and are on a PC (I'm mac). They
encoded it using their Flix encoder, and talked about the newest
version ("S" or something like that). Case in
point, their flv worked and mine didn't. (Mine was playing fine,
but something in the metadata was getting goofed and not throwing
an end-of-file status flag for me to capture. So, I couldn't get
the program to automatically close the video and move on.) I
checked for an update to my CS3 encoder, which simply took me to
the basic "Adobe software update" software, which
suggested a few other updates that I'm assuming are irrelevant to
Flash. (Reader, Version Cue, Bridge, StartMeeting, After Effects).
So, my lengthy intro leads me to the question, "Is
my stock CS3 flv encoder not the best thing for encoding
    (On2).?"
Is there an update or better solution I'm not aware of?
    Thanks,
    Greg

I've tested a few encoding options (Sorenson Squeeze, flix
    on2, CS3 encoder)
Today we're using FlipFactory to encode our flv &
many more files but when I have a job to be done quickly I just use
the CS3 encoder, disregarding any other fancy features like 2pass
encoding I think that the CS3 encoder is pretty good and it writes
    ALL the needed metadata.

  • Problem in Flash CS3 video Encoder

    Hi,
I am experiencing a bug in the Flash CS3 Video encoder. I
have saved an XML file with settings that I will be using for
numerous video. I have basically set the Data Rate, Frame Rate, Key
Frame Interval, Audio and Video Size. The frame rate is set to
    14.98.
When I load the profile that I have saved, the frame rate
stays at 14.98, but if i hit ok, and then click on the settings
again to modify them, the frame rate goes to 'same as source' and
does not stay at 14.98. If I change the frame rate to 14.98 at this
point, it sticks. My question is, why does it go to 'same as
source', and it concerns me, that if I do not manually go in and
change the settings back to 14.98, is it encoding the video at its
    current frame rate.
Here is the XML file I use for encoding:

It appears that the <FrameRate></FrameRate> node
is only saved to the XML file if you choose something other than
"Same as source". However, it's always a non-standard value.
Evidently, if you are creating your own <FrameRate> value in
a custom XML setting file, you need to multiply the frame rate by
65536. For example, if you want 24 fps in the profile, your XML
should look like the code snippet below.

  • Flash CS3 Video Encoder: No preview

[note: I posted this earlier in the Flash Media Encoder forum
-- which I thought was the same product as the video encoder.
Apparently it is not! I did not see a forum specific to the video
    encoder, so I'm posting here.]
    Greetings.
I'm getting no video preview in the Flash CS3 Video Encoder
when attempting to adjust settings. I can scrub back and forth and
set cue points, but the entire video preview is black. I've tried
several source files encoded with several different Quicktime
codecs and in a few different formats including .mov and .mp4 -- no
difference. The source files play fine and actually encode just
fine with the encoder, but the lack of preview to adjust cropping
and other setting is non-optimal, to say the least.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any solutions?
    Here's my setup:
    -- PowerMac Dual-Core 2x2.66 GHz Intel Xeon
    -- 30-inch Cinema Display
-- NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT graphics card
    -- Mac OSX 10.5.2
    -- Quicktime Pro 7.4.1
-- Most recent version of Flash CS3 Video Encoder

I to am having the same problem with the flash encoder. Added
a wmv file and a mov file to the queue and I get the same results.
I do however see the first frame of the movies. Cannot set in and
out points because the first frame displays while scrubbing.

  • Flash CS3 Video Encoder

    I
When I use "Flash CS3 Video Encoder" I get a watermark that
says "created with flip4mac WMV demo". It Is not suppose to come

Can somebody please tell me if do I have to buy "flip4mac" or

  • Lost my m2v and ac3 files and want to recosntruct from a final DVD

I lost the compressed files m2v and wav that I used to generate a menu driven DVD at the time I was using a Windows based PC (I used Pinnacle Impression with a menu to generate the final DVD.
Now I no longer use this PC and made the big step to the Mac world in buying a MacPro with FinaCutPro and DVD STudio Pro. The only thing I have left is the final DVD with its usual contents (VOB files).
Is it possible to find a way to import the VOB files (with the sound) into DVD Studio Pro, split it by Chapter and re-create a brand new menu ? Or using Compressor or FCP in intermediate steps before using DVD Studio Pro ?

    Francois:

You can use * MPEG Streamclip * to extract the original m2v and ac3 files from the VOB file without any quality loose, and use such files in a new DVDSP project. You'll have to rebuild your menus and navigation.
    Hope that helps !

  • Basic tcl and wav files required in VG for a stanalone cvp architecture

    hy all
I am very new to this field and still learning can someone help me gain knowledge on this subject my question is
What are the files needed in VG for supporting a standalone CVP architecture  ?   (in specific the VXML,tcl and wav files ??
What are the use of the following services run in an ICM router ?
rtsvr, dbagent, testsync, router, ccagent, mdsproc
What are the use of the following services run in an ICM logger ?
      configlogger, csfs, listlogger, recovery, replication

A stand-alone CVP VXML solution does not need ICM at all. You simply set up the services on the gateway
    service CVPSelfService flash:CVPSelfServiceBootstrap.vxml
    service helloworld flash:CVPSelfService.tcl
      param CVPSelfService-port 7000
param CVPSelfService-app HelloWorld             <<<<<<<< whatever the VXML app is called
      paramspace english location flash
param CVPPrimaryVXMLServer 164.103.128.20 <<<<<<<< primary VXML server
param CVPBackupVXMLServer 172.20.142.20   <<<<<<<< backup VXML server
    I usually also install
      service cvperror flash:cvperror.tcl
      service ringtone flash:ringtone.tcl
    as well.

  • Re-burn a DVD from .m2v and .ac3 files

Can someone explain to me if one can re-burn a DVD from Compressor after you've created the .m2v (mpeg-2) and .AC3 (dolby audio) files?
Here is my problem. I create a DVD with Compressor and have both the .m2v and .ac3 files on my drive. I'd like to save these and not have to re-compress the original ProRes file all over again and just burn these again to another DVD in the future.
How do you do that? Do you need another program to do this?
    Any help appreciated!

No.  Compressor can't use the elementary streams to build a DVD.
To burn multiple DVDs, save to a disk image (Output Device = Hard Drive) and burn that from that in Disk Utility.

  • How to Add .m2v and .ac3 files in encore?

I am doing my HD post in FCP and creating .m2v and .ac3 files using compressor. I would like to burn my DVDs in encore to try out blu-ray DVDs. How do I add separate .ac3 and .m2v files in encore?
    Thanks

They get created as separate files originally. Just Import both and add each to the timeline.

  • Cropping using Flash CS3 Video Encoder

Hi all, I am trying to work around a problem and wonder if I
can solve it using the Flash Video Encoder. I need to resize and
crop at the same time. My end video needs to be 400 wide and 300
high and my source footage is 720 x 480. If I maintain the aspect
    ratio my two options are 450 x 300 or 400 x 286 - so I need to add
14 pixels to the height or crop 25 pixels off each side of the
    width.
I don't think I would be able to add the 14 or so pixels to
the height of the video in the video encoder (I just need them to
be black areas like letterbox and 16:9-like) - but this would be
ideal. But it does seem like I should be able to crop 25 pixels off
each side using the crop tool. I have been setting the file size to
450 x 300 and I have been entering 25 on the right and left side of
the video in crop in the crop and resize panel. This should
theoretically cut off 25 pixels on the right and left size leaving
me with the file size of 300 x 400.
Anyone have any suggestions? I might need to bring this into
another tool like Final Cut or something to achieve this but I am
trying to avoid encoding multiple times.
    Thanks!!
    Joe

  • Flash CS3 Video Encoder CuePoint XML help

I have a properly formed CuePoint XML file I generate from an
AppleScript that takes QT Chapter Marks and writes a CuePoint XML
for them. However, the File Type and Creator Type of the generated
file is TEXT and ttxt respectively. Flash Video encoder just
ignores these files and will not even let me select them to import
CuePoints. Checking sample CuePoint files created by the Encoder
reveals that they have no Type or Creator set. In fact they show
the attribute for these to be missing. The Encoder app refuses to
open any file with a Type applied. This is beyond frustrating and
just down right silly from a development stand point. Why on earth
should it limit based on type in this day and age. Since there is
no sane way of stripping the File Type attribute there seems to be
no viable way of opening a sane, well formed Cue Point XML file
    created elsewhere on a Mac.
Does anyone have a suggestion, or can you point me to where
to file a really lame bug report with Adobe.

  • How to directly burn .m2v and .ac3 files on a DVD?

I made a DVD movie processing on Compressor but I forgot to select the "Job Action" (Create DVD), so now I have the 2 files .m2v and .ac3 but I have to burn the DVD. How can I do without re-processing the original movie?
    Thanks

If you have Toast or DVD Studio you can use these files. If not, you'll may need  to re-encode the movie.
But try this if you saved the the Compressor project that made those elementary streams. Reopen it and slightly change the name of the output files (say, by adding a numeric prefix to each name). When you do the yellow warning triangle should go away. Change the job action to burn DVD and submit, If it works, you should get a near-complete progress bar in a matter of seconds. Then you should be able to burn your physical disk or make a disk image for multiple copies.
    Good luck.
