CS3 & WacomCTE  Ink color resetting to black

I have so far not found reference to this problem.
Up until now everything great, older driver+sapphire+CS3 in Vista, but today my pen periodically reset to black while having another color selected, only to return to the selected color in a new layer and again switch back. I tried it using another tablet to make sure but same problem, not my tablet. I then installed the latest drive. Everything else inc. sensitivity, brush stroke, worked fine with both tables but I still continued to have my ink swith to black while using another color. Are there specific settings within CS3 I should adjust? Anything else it could be?

Are you by chance using the pencil tool with the auto erase box checked
in the tool options bar?
Also did you check the color dynamic settings in the brush panel?

The Black ink color will not print on my HP Officejet 7500 E910 printer.  Printer indicator on the printer and at the computer shows that all the colors are about 50% full.  Any ideals?  I have the run the printer thru the diagnostic page and have cleaned the cartridges.
    Thanks

Just wanted to let everyone in on a little trick I learned about 10 years ago with inkjet printers.  This might not work for everyone but it worked wonderfully on this printer and all the previous ones that I have owned.
The printer head will get clogged.  On this printer it seems to get clogged often. You will need to wash it under Warm water.  It might take as long as 4-5 minutes to run the water thru the small circular apertures and also the bottom of the printhead-- where the ink actually exits the printhead.
    What you need to do:
    1.  Remove all of your ink cartridges
    2.  Release the grey latch, or lift it up
    3.  Remove the printhead
    4.  place the printhead under a warm water stream cleaning both the inside and outside of where the ink enters and exits the printhead
    5.  keep running under warm water untill you dont see anymore ink coming out of the printhead
    6.  Dry with kleenex dabbing lightly untill you soak up all the water off the printhead
    7.  replace in printer
    8.  Run clean up twice and then try and print a diagnostics page or print alignment.
    I hope this works!
    Cheers

  • How to change all used colors to 100% black

It's probably a dead simple answer, but I can't find it.
    Here's the thing:
In a product brochure I had to change all product drawings to 100% black.
What I did was select all unused colors from the palette, deleted them. Then changed all the used colors into 100% black (drag Global black swatch onto the other swatches while holding Alt).
In the printing office it appeared that there were still elements in the drawings that weren't in 100% black. Those elements had colors that weren't in a swatch in the color palette.
How can I change ALL the used colors, including the ones that haven't been turned into a swatch in color palette, into 100% black?
    Thanks for any help!
(Illustrator CS3 is what I'm working with)

    James,
    I am using CS3.
    It's a bit of a complicated story.
I get the drawings supplied from my customer. The drawings are made in an Autocad-like program (I forgot its name), then imported into Autocad (because that first piece of software doesn't have the right export-extensions) and then from Autocad it's exported to Illustrator.
The customer wanted to do the conversion to black themselves, because it would ease my work-load, since I wouldn't have to open and adjust all those drawings again when they have it open already.
    Only they are using CS2.
I guess they'll just have to upgrade...

  • Printing part color and part black and white

    Hello Everyone,
I am wondering if you happen to know how to print part of the page color and part black and white. In other words, what I am looking to do is print a page, and be able to select how much of it is with color ink, and how much of it is just with black ink. Is there a way to do this? Even if its just choosing a half page to be one or the other.
Any info in regards to this would be great.
    Thanks

My post was not to specifically discourage you from posting in this forum. It was to point you to a better forum that would yield more relevant answers. If you choose to post in this general print design forum, you may need to be a little less general with your question.

  • Is there a way to create QR codes through Enhanced Datamerge in color rather than black?

Trying to find a way to create QR codes through the data merge feature in a color other than black. The only way I know to attempt it is to try to give the placeholder a color attribute, but no matter what I try the QR codes generated come in as black. Wondering if there is a way to color them, like you can when you just generate an individual QR code.

See the following post. I think should help out. Thanks!

  • Is there a way to change the color of the Bezier Curves and points to a different color other than black  I find it perplexing while setting points and curves working on a photo that needs to be separated from it's background for placement on transparent

Is there a way to change the color of the Bezier Curves and points to a different color other than black  I find it perplexing while setting points and curves working on a photo that needs to be separated from it's background for placement on transparent backgrounds. Any thoughts?

Yes. Well, sort of: instead of a "path", set the pen tool to "shape" in the tool properties. Then set the fill colour to transparent, and the stroke colour to the colour you want. You can also set the stroke width.
Not perfect, but at least you can see the path more clearly - the anchor points and handles still remain the default colour. Open the path panel, and right-mouse click the path shape to create a selection based on that shape. The Paths panel menu also allows you to create work paths based on that shape.
Unfortunately when you try to move the handles the black thin outline appears again until you release the mouse button.
This is one of several things that works better in Photoline: in Photoline, once the path is set to a specific colour, editing the path uses the actual colour and stroke width. which is extremely handy for creating path based selection with awkward background colours and/or a high resolution screen. In Photoline the handles and bezier points are also much, much larger, which makes it rather simpler to work with as well - especially on a higher resolution screen. And when selected the handles and points are a clear red with a black outline - again easier to spot and identify. I just works better, in my opinion.

    You can't. Sorry.

You can tell apple that you'd like it and see if they respond....eventually. (you don't get responses from your feedback mails but they have been known to issue changes that users have asked for, such as the ability to mass delete apps)

  • How to print a downloaded color document in black or gray scale

I have Adobe Reader 9; Windows Vista Home Premium; HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless printer.  I have downloaded a document that is pre-set to print in color.  I want to print it in black or gray scale.  I click on the printer icon for the printing pop up.  When I click on the Properties bar to make the request for black or gray scale, nothing happens.  What steps can I take to convert the pre-set color download to be printed in black or gray scale?  Thanks!

I have only had the experience when I have downloaded a link from within an email to my Hotmail account when the download has already been set up in color.  To date, I have not had that problem with Word.       There are specifically two situations regarding two different monthly emailed newsletters.  This is through Internet Explorer 8; Windows Vista Home Premium.  (I will not use Internet Explorer 9.  It causes blocks for routine procedures, especially involving my Hotmail account--such as not being able initially to download a normal attachment or, if downloaded, not being able to print a normal download attachment.)     However, after I sent out my request for help, I switched to Mozilla Firefox and was able to print the "color" download in black right away because the Preferences bar responded as it should.  (Through Internet Explorer 8, regarding this particular link/download/attachment, the printing pop up had a Properties bar.  However, I am aware that, in some other pop up formats, there are both a Properties bar and a Preferences bar to choose from.)       I have Mozilla Firefox as a backup because, sometimes, I have to resort to it to download email attachments (whether black or color) coming from the east coast when they will not download through Internet Explorer 8.  (I am near the geographic center of the US.)     Thank you for your interest in my concern.  I will gladly accept any advice regarding being able to print an email attachment/link color download in black when using Internet Explorer 8!  Does it depend on how the link attachment is set up or what the link attachment is??

  • Colored Pictures Turning Black and White in Certain Files (PSE 9.0)

    Hey guys, how's it going?
I'll try to keep this breif, but it may take a little while to explain. I've been getting a problem with PSE 9.0 where an image or layer that is in color suddenly turns black and white when I paste it into an open file. It's a lot easier to explain with pictures, so here you go.
    Figure 1
    Figure 2
(Before anything else is said, I would like to point out the reasoning behind relating a middle-finger, a hammer and sickle, and a pony from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic into a single image; it's a parody project I'm working on. It's about 30 times weirder out of context, trust me.)
As you can see, the source imagery with "APPA JAK" on it (figure 1) is in full color, but when I pasted it onto the layer with the hammer and sickle, it turned black and white. This has become the same with a few other images I have found, but I couldn't find any reliable way to recreate the problem. The problem is also the same weather I find the pictures from the internet, copy those to my clipboard, and paste them or simply paste them from my computer.
If you need any more information (dxdiag, settings, etc. etc.) feel free to ask, and thanks in advance for helping me!

Just a guess because I don't have the original images to play with, but the hammer and sickle is a grayscale image so images posted into it become grayscale.
Use Image / Mode / RGB Color to change the target image to color before pasting anything into it.
Alternatively, use File / New to create a new image that is full color and paste everything into it.

  • How to determine actual colors in a black and white photo?

I'm not sure if I'm in the right section, but I'm wondering if it's possible to use an Adobe program to restore actual colors in a black and white photo? I don't want add color by imagining or guessing; I need to determine the real colors. This might not even be possible, but if it is, please tell me what I can use.
    Thank you.

That's where the artistry comes into play when they colorize old movies.
A lady wears a nice dress:  is it greeen or purple?  It looks gray.
A baby comes home from the hospital cute new baby clothes: pink or blue?  They look light gray.
That's a nice school tie that guy's wearing: use the wrong colors on the stripes, and he's at a different school.  But they're nothing more than varying shades of gray.
If there's one thing missing in a B&W photograph, it's any vestige of color information.   All you have is gray scale.   You may NEED to determine the real colors, but without a color photograph to use as a reference image, you're out of luck.

  • PSE 8: Color Tinting from Black and White Photo

Basically, the title says it all.  Can someone tell me how to add areas of color in a black and white photo for PSE 8?
    I really appreciate it.

Using Hue Saturation won't colorize my whole picture?  What if I just want to color a hat?  I mean, I know about hue/saturation and I know how to colorize.  But, how do you do it for something specific within that picture and leaving the rest black and white?
Select what you want to colorize and then apply the colorization methods. You might want to first feather the selection 1 or 2 px to get a soft edge. As to Barbara's first method (painting on a blank layer with Color blend mode), the color tends to be washed out. If you want a deeper color, duplicate the layer and set its blend mode to Multiply; if the result is too dark then lower the duplicate layer's Opacity.

  • Convert color PDF to Black in Acrobat 9

I have need that I have not been able to find an answer to. I have a fairly large color pdf (over 400 pages of drawings in color) and I would like to turn all the colors to black. Everything I have been able find in my research to do this has to do with converting a color PDF to black & white (grayscale), I do not want to use grayscale, I need the colors to be converted to black. Any color other than white I want to be black. I realize that you can print to black and white but that will not work for me because there are a couple of pages in the PDF that are color models that I will reinsert back in to the PDF after I have converted the PDF.
If anyone can help in this endeavor it would be greatly appreciated.

For Acrobat 9 Pro it is:
    File > Export > PDF/A
    Be well...
