CS3 - Will not Save, Program Error

Just ran the CS3 patch and now files are not saving. Getting a "Program Error" when attempting to Save file. Any workarounds? Would like to Save what I have been working on, including layers and masks.

Excuse Me... This is the result of my Hard Drive not having enough capacity. Problem Solved.

  • PS CS3 will not save as a psd nor open a psd

I've had photoshop CS3 installed on my XP PC for nearly 2 years and have worked with it successfully. All of a sudden when I go to save as a .psd I get the follwing:"could not complete the Save AS command because of a program error". Also, when I try to open .psd or .pdf or .eps etc i get the following: "could not complete your request because it is not the right type of document. What gives?

I have tried that and when I did I got a pop-up that says "delete photoshop settings file?". I said yes to that but it did not solve anything. Also, now when I try to use the type tool I get a message as follows: "could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being initialized."
In desparation I uninstalled the software and reinstalled but again, nothing has changed; I get the same issues. I'm beginning to think that something may be amiss in my registry. Because of the PS problems I've decided to see if I have any problems with my other Adobe software. Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Distiller and InDesign all seem to be working flawlessly. Not sure where to turn to.

  • Files will not open - program error popup

I am running CS3 on a site-based license in a high school - we are all on a server. When I try to open files - PSD, JPEG, GIF, etc., a notice pops up saying "Could not complete your request because of a program error." My technology department here ran malware software on my hard drive, unistalled the CS3 suite, and then reinstalled. It's been rebooted. The issue continues, however. Two of my students are also experiencing this problem as welI - but not all of them. I found some information with this, or at least similar issues, but from a Mac platform or because the person couldn'g get the text tool to work correctly. I am hoping this is a common problem with a fix! Thank you for any help.

What happens if you Copy your file over from the networked drive to a local HDD?
What happens if you Rt-click on the PS icon and choose Run as Administrator?
Is your networked computer also using a networked printer as the default? If so, just choose the MS Generic Printer as the default, and test. This will not cut your ability to print, and all you have to do is point to the networked printer.
    Good luck,

  • Dreamweaver CS3 will not save page

I have few details as I'm troubleshooting for a client, but hopefully someone can help get me to the answer...
Client has Dreamweaver CS3. Been using it for about a year (and before that, earlier versions). One person now cannot save files. After making a change, Save is still gray and keyboard shortcut (ctrl+S) does not work.
Other things I know (via phone conversation):
    - Using Windows XP
    - Check in/Check Out is enabled, and she is able to check out the file
    - Editing on local and uploading to remote
    - Other people within organization can save changes to the same pages
    - all users have same FTP username and password
    - I am using DW 8 and can access, make changes and save to same pages
    - She can Save As...
    Any ideas will help.
    Thanks in advance!

If you go to the Adobe Support Knowledgebase, you can find
    this sort of
answer for yourself. Type "licensing has stopped working"
    into the
"Search for" field, select "Dreamweaver" from the "Product"
    menu, and
click search. The following page comes up as the first
    result:

  • Photoshop AND Illustrator will not save- no error message

I am on a mac and I have CS5. There is no error message, but when I go to save the 'save' button is not clickable, only the cancel one. I have space on my computer so that is not it, I have gone through all the settings and I have seen nothing that seems out of place.
    Thanks!

Often if I update iTunes, i need to reaccept the terms etc when i reopen it.
If you have other programs open, you often cant get this "terms acceptance" screen to come up.
I suggest closing all open open programs and then trying.

  • CS3 will not install on Windows 7, 64-bit. No error message. Just stops installing.

CS3 will not install on Windows 7, 64-bit. No error message. Just stops installing. This is a brand new machine. This is one of the first things I'm installing on it. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The disks are fine. I have the programs installed on my two XP machines. When I run the disk, I get the window pop up that says "Initializing Installation for Adobe Creative Suite 3". Then the disk stops spinning and nothing else happens. No error message. Nothing else happens. I'm baffled. I have searched several discussion boards and cannot find anybody that has had a similar install issue like this.

Old_Timer I would recommend reviewing your install logs to determine the exact error message.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret the logs at Troubleshoot installation with install logs | CS3, CS4 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-installation-install-logs-cs3.html.

  • Indesign CS3 will not prompt to save

I recently updated my indesign cs3 with the adobe updater but when I opened the program it said that my workgroup client.indesign pl
ugin was conflicting with my workgroup client UI.indesign plugin, so i went online and downloaded the indesign cs3 update and indesi
gn was working fine except that the program will not SAVE AS. If i click on it, there is no prompt and if i make a change to my file
and close the file, the program will not prompt me to save the file before I close the program.

Both of those are in the required plugins folder on my system, and have the same date and version number (5.0.4.682), so you might want to check to be sure yours match.

  • Accidentally copied microsoft word icon  to desk top.   Now program will not work. Error message says cannot be opened because of problem. How do I re-install ?

Accidentally copied microsoft word icon  to desk top.   Now program will not work. Error message says cannot be opened because of problem. How do I re-install ?

Drag the Word icon back to where it belongs.
Applications > Microsoft Office 2011 > Put Word there.
I'm assuming you have Office 2011. If you have 2008 there should be a similar location to put Word.

  • CS4 on new 64bit machine will not save files, "unkown error"

I just upgraded my machine from an older 32 bit PC to a 64 bit PC running Windows 7. As part of the migration O'm having to re-install a lot of softwaare including Illsutrator. The install was succesful, Illy runs and will open all of my old AI files, but it will not save them. All I get id an "unkown error" message. New files created form scrath save ok; old files will save over or be "saved as"; if I copy the contents of an old fiel to a new page it will not save either. I have removed the AIprefs file but no change.
Any idea what the issue is?

I have had this problem as well and this is my take on it. It can open the files being that it's .ai format but it can't just save them again being that the previous save format was 32bit and now the save format is 64bit and when you ask it to save a 32bit file it wants to save it as 32bit again but illustrator can't do that from a 64bit system. The bit size does make a difference but if you go to save as instead of save it will save it and you can write over it. What your doing then is saving a new 64bit file over the old 32bit file.

  • I recently bought an Epson Artisan 837 printer. I installed the driver and now Photoshop from CS3 will not open. It quits when the Twain portion of the program starts loading. Does anyone know how to fix this so my printer will work with Photoshop??

I recently bought an Epson Artisan 837 printer. I installed the driver and now Photoshop from CS3 will not open. It closes every time it gets to the point where it is loading the Twain portion. Does anyone know how to fix this so my printer and Photoshop will work together? Thanks for any help I can get!

    You're welcome.
But, no, don't look to  Epson for fixes to their  driver in newer versions, and Adobe has deprecated the TWAIN plug-in.  Hoping for a solution there is futile.  That has not happened and it's never going to happen.  The consensus is that it's pretty foolish to tie up Photoshop to scan.  Honestly.
Any improvement in the behavior of newer versions of the Epson drivers in that regard would be pure coincidence.
You need to understand that you never, ever scan "within" Photoshop, as Photoshop has no scanning capabilities whatsoever.  When you use the Import > Twain plug-in all you are doing is blocking Photoshop while you call up the stand-alone Epson scanning software.  If you think about it, its most inefficient.
VueScan has a pretty powerful scanning plug-in that can be called from the Impost menu—if you insist.  VueScan is not free, but it's a pretty good value, IMO.
As for the Epson CD printing software, I have no clue.  Sorry.

  • I have Pages 09 but it will not save a document.  I have tried clicking on all the options but I keep getting an error message that the document cannot be saved.  Any help?

I have Pages 09, but it will not save a document.  I have clicked on all options, but I cannot save anything.  Any thoughts?

    Hi lv,
This may help. File > Export > PDF or Word or RTF.
At least that will save your work.

  • Will not save swf- "the parameter is wrong"

I created a very simple file in Flash CS4, a plain background and two layers, each with some text which is hyperlinked.  I decided to test it before proceeding further, and it will not save as a swf at all!  I continually get an error message that "The parameter is wrong".  That's all.  I had the publish settings set to Flash Player 9 and AS 2.  I tried various combinations of Flash Player 8, 9, and 10, and As 2 and 3.  Same error message....
This file has almost nothing in it!  What am I doing wrong?

Weird weird weird- my Flash 10 was very twitchy for awhile today, then seemed to calm down, and I was also able to create a swf from a new fla file, in which I accepted the default publish settings of Player 10 and AS 3.  Later, I was able to do a SaveAs and change parameters to Player 9, but left AS at 3. Seemed to work fine......
Some of the issues I have had with Flash, Photoshop, and also Fireworks, is possibly due to the fact that I bought CS4 and installed it in parallel to CS3.  Didn't want to lose work previously created in CS3 programs, but, oddly enough, Adobe has me registered properly as the owner of the CS3 suite, but when I try to register the CS4 suite, it claims the serial number is already registered (but not to me!).  Very odd, since I got that serial number via student verification through Adobe.  Oh well, I'll just cope, since I don't feel like sitting on hold for 1-2 hours waiting to talk to an Adobe CSR, who will likely suggest an (OH NO!!!!) re-installation....
Thanks for checking that file.  The gremlins appear to have retreated for the time being.

  • Adobe Premiere CS3 will not open!

Adobe premiere CS3 will not open.  When I click on the Adobe icon on my desktop, I get this message:  This application has failed to start because prm.dll was not found.  I've tried several things such as:  uninstalling the program then reinstalliing it.  I tried to open Adobe by clicking on one of my projects by opening MY Computer from start on the taskbar, then click on c drive, etc. but it will not open.  Before I started getting the error message stated above, when I clicked on the icon, the program would load to the point of showing the top portion of the page (file, edit, etc.) then stop.  It would never fully load.  HELP!!!!!   I'm in the middle of trying to meet several deadlines.

First, search your system for every instance of prm.dll. See if you have one (could be corrupt, but a Repair Install should have repaired it) in your PrPro CS3 folder hierarchy. Do you have any more? How do the dates and sizes compare to the one, if there is one, in PrPro? Here is a LINK to a .dll site. I do not know this site, so cannot even comment on their .dll's. I'd do the first suggestion, well - first.
Also, I do not know this .dll. It could be a VST from an Audio editing program, or similar. Some of these have been known to bring PrPro to its knees, at launch. Might be worthwhile to check into it a bit more.
Also, take a look at Event Viewer. This ARTICLE will give you some tips on what to look for. Could be more happening, than the error message might lead one to believe.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
