CS3 Win printing problems

I have been trying to print a page within my file and it will not print. I have tried
restarting program then computer
save as PDF- error "out of memory"
pulling just the page in question to my hard drive and all links
resaving the document as Interchange then printing
removing graphics to find the culprit- seems all would be the problem
resaving all graphics as another name, re-placing them in ID then printing
The graphics links are from Illustrator and saved via network
I do not have an error to go by except I have crashed many times.
Any ideas?

Thank you it worked.
I did what you said and then re-link the files to the new location. I had to print the page in question by it's self and it took approximately 10 min. Is that because of the file size of the graphics? Also they are created in Illustrator but they also contain raster art with clipping masks. Would this cause it to slow down? I'm trying to figure out the best and fastest way to get these printed.
Thank you so much for your time and help.

  • CS3 [WIN]- ConvertWideStringToUTF8()  problem

    Hi,
I'm using the StringUtils::ConvertWideStringToUTF8() method in order to get an string UTF8 encoded. I have at input the following WideString "áèÍÖ", that is in UNICODE:
    (dec.)= 0x00E1,0x00E8,0x00CD,0x00D6,
so, the output of this method must be a char* like this:
(in UTF8)= C3A1,C3A8,C38D,C396 ... but the real output I'm getting is:
C3A1,C3A8,C320,C396 ... and C320 (Í) is not a valid UTF8 code,so, any xml parser or utf8 validator says that this is not a valid char.
Then, does anybody know something related with this problem? It ConvertWideStringToUTF8() works? Have I to implement my own method to convert a unicode string to UTF8 encoding? Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Rajani,
You are right, and PMString is not the better place to work with encoding.
    This code is working too:
    std::string result;
// pstr is my original PMstring
    WideString wsStr( pstr.GrabWString());
    // trasnform widestring to utf8 char *
    StringUtils::ConvertWideStringToUTF8( wsStr, result );
    Thanks for your help!

  • Printing problems with InDesign CS3 running on OS 10.6

I recently upgrade my old G4 Mac (OS 10.4) to a new Mac Mini running OS 10.6.6. I am still running CS3 and have encountered only one problem. When I print multiple copies documents from InDesign that contain several layers, each copy is processed separately, so that it can take several minutes just to send the print job to the printer if I'm printing over 20 copies. Then once the print job is processed the printer pauses between every copy, which is tripling the printing time. If I print a simpler document with only one or two layers it processes all the copies at once, as it should. I am printing on an Okidata 6150 color laser printer.
I never had this problem on my old computer. I'm wondering if this is one of the "unsupported" bugs of running CS3 on Snow Leopard. I want to make sure that this is a problem unique to running CS3 with Snow Leopard before I go ahead and upgrade to CS4 or CS5.

    Hi again Peter
It is version 5.0.4.  I updated it when I newly installed it a week ago in my new computer, and then again updated it just yesterday.
I might mention that before I got my new computer, I was running Mac OS 4.11, and was using InDesign 3.0.  I had bought InDesign CS3 about a year ago, but hadn't gotten around to using it since version 3.0 had been working fine, and I was used to it.  Then, when I got my new computer, I decided it was time to use the newer version.  However, while using InDesign 3.0 with the old Mac OS 4.11, a printing problem popped up there, too, a few months ago... and it also involved printing problems with Adobe Reader.  I contacted Adobe, and they sent me a patch which fixed it.  I will contact Adobe again if need be, although I thought I'd start here first to see if it was a common enough problem that someone might be able to provide a free and routine answer.

I neglected to ask what version of indesign CS3 you are using. I also
notice that Mac OSX 10.6.4 has just been released. It actually
addresses some CS3-specific issues, though they seem to be related to
launching the apps, not printing. It may be worth trying to update,
    nonetheless.

I am not new to InDesign... I have CS3... but I am brand new to Mac Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.3).  Although I can open CS3 and use the application, I cannot print with it.  None of my other applications has printing issues... just CS3.  Any suggestions?

  • Printing problem with new Intel iMac and Indesign CS3

    Hi there,
this might not be the right place to ask for, but has anybody here experienced printing problems in Indesign CS3 with Tiger?
I just installed the software and tried to print out of Indesign, but nothing. I can see on the panel that data is beeing received but no printing action. And this is just out of the new Indesing CS3.
    Any suggestions?
    Best
    Rolf

Our office is printing fine from ID & PS CS3. This is from Intel & PPC Mac's running 10.4.9.
What is your printer and how is it configured for printing, ie USB or IP.
Also, have a look at the cups error log. You can find this via System Profiler > Software > Logs. This will show which process is failing for the spooled job. You can post it back here for more help.

  • Printing problems with CS3

Whenever I go to print an ID or AI file for the first time it is beyond slow. It does not matter if it is a large file (although ID files of any size are very slow, 30 seconds or more just to scroll to a new page) or a small file, I get a minute or more of beach ball before the print dialog box comes up. After the first print, it prints instantly for the rest of the time the app is open. Has anyone else seen this in CS3? Any fix?

I haven't tried opening anything as a new user. Is this a known solution to slow printing problems? I don't see the connection. I'm not sure how to create a new user (although I'm sure it's pretty simple.) I'm the only person who uses this computer, so it's never come up. Thanks for the advice, however, I'll give it a try.

  • Has Adobe fixed the cs3 print problem yet?

Please don't beat me up for failing to look for answers.  I'm far from lazy.  I've spent the last two days and nights trying to print out some portraits that came out too vertically elongated any way I printed.
I emailed nasty letters to Epson, feverishly searched the internet, only to discover on the internet that ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS3 was the problem.  Something about not being able to print non-square images proportionately.  Squares print out perfectly.
I went back and studied the program.  The problem?  If you measure the rulers on the screen (thaaaat's right!  Physically hold a ruler to the screen!) the side ruler comes up short, so compensates through the printer.
What did I do in the short time I had left?  I calculated the fake measures and the real measures, resized the images so they are proportionatly squished and they printed out perfect.
Am I going to have to do squish my work every time I want to print something not square?  And please don't tell me that upgrading to cs4 (or whatever) is the answer.  I paid money for cs3 and should get what I paid for.
    Thanks!

Apparently, your notebook has an option for the type of screen.
    http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3188
"The E1705 has two options for the screen, a 1440x900 WXGA+ matte screen or a 1920x1200 WUXGA glossy screen."
This is probably why you were able to use the  1920 x 1200 resolution setting.

  • InDesign CS3 and OS 10.5.8 Tabloid Print Problem

I recently upgraded my G5 Power PC to OS 10.5 Leopard. Now I am unable to print 11 x 17 documents created in InDesign CS3 without a significant portion of the file beign "cut off" at the header. This also applies to attempts to print the same file, saved as a PDF. 11 x 17 documents created in Ai print fine.
Curiously, the identical InDesign CS3 files print as they should on oversized (Super A3) sheets.

You did an in place upgrade from Tiger to Leopard? Contrary to the propaganda machine in Cupertino this is not a good idea.
Operating system upgrades are best done as clean installs.

  • Lightroom 2.1 upgrade printing problem

I was getting great printing with LR 1 and my Epson R200 printer on Windows XP. My computer died and the new one is on Vista. I upgraded to LR 2.1 while I was at it. now my prints are way off color. I love the new color management features of LR, but there doesn't appear to be a Vista profile for the R200. I tried the one for the R300 and the prints have a decidedly yellow cast, which I can't seem to remove in LR. With the printer managing the color, the prints come out way too dark and weird colored. I need to finish some print orders, any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dave

LR 2.1 Final still has the problem of 'sunburned faces' and other somewhat less noticable color shifts on my system.
    Win Vista Ultimate x64
    Q6600 @ 2.4GHz 8GB RAM
    B9180 Printer
    Advanced Photo Glossy profile

The same images using the same printer settings on the same system print just fine using Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS4 so the problem is definitely in something specific to LR.
And I have reported this to Adobe via http://www.adobe.com/go/wish and I suggest that anyone having printing problems with LR2.1 file a bug report.

I have a printing problem: When I want to print something from any of Adobe CS3 applications they suddenly crushes. I work on new iMac 27” (Intel Core i5, 3,2 GHz, OS X 10.9.2). Adobe CS3 worked correctly on my previous Mac G5.

  • Printing problem in cs5 and imac 27

I have been running my Epson Stylus Pro 4800 on a macbook pro and cs3, for a couple of years with no problems whatsoever. I have now upgraded to a new iMac 27"and have had nothing but problems with the 4800. I have made my own profils and used Epson paper profiles but the prints are not as colourful as they used and totally wrong as well. I am also getting totally oversized prints compared to what image seize in ps is set to be.....for example, I have been doing a 10x21 test picture on Premium Lustre paper (photoshop is managing the colours through CS5, but it is printing the image at least 1,5 the size that it should be. All my settings are correct, dpi is 300, I'm printing at 1440dpi resolution on the correct profiles for the paper. I am at a loss to understand why this is happening. Is anyone able to assist me?
I can do the printing in preview  and that is looking quite ok. But trough photoshop it is bad colors and wrong size on the print.
    Regards Ulfja

I saw you're having a printing problem with CS5 while using an Epson printer. I'm having a problem too. Read my situation and see if you think it's similiar to yours. I posted this about an hour ago but have not heard from anyone yet.
I'm having problems getting good prints when using Photoshop CS5 with my Epson Photo R2880 printer, problems I never had with CS4. Here's the situation:
If I take a PSD file and print it using CS4, everything works out perfectly. But if I take that same PSD file and print it out using CS5, the print is now offset top to bottom, as well as left to right, along with a 1/8" black strip being printed down the right edge of the paper. As far as I can tell, everything is set the same.
I've compared all the print information found in the Print dialog summary box between CS4 and CS5 and everything appears to be the same. I've verified that I'm using the latest print driver with my printer, and I am. It's 8.27.  I've verified that I've checked off the box to center the print to the paper, each time I've made a print. And in trying to figure out what's going on, I've discovered that this problem occurs with any paper size when using CS5, but not with CS4.
I'm stumped and frustrated and without any more ideas as to what I should do next, except to always print my projects using CS4. If anyone has an idea for me, please let me know!
I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions for you. The colors I'm getting in my prints from CS5 seem to be alright, but not the positioning on paper. It keeps offsetting and running a black stripe down one side. Fortunately I have CS4 on my computer that I can use to print from, but it shouldn't be this way.
    Good luck!

  • What's the benefits of Indesign CC over Indesign CS3 for print design?

What's the benefits of Indesign CC over Indesign CS3 for print design? I'd like to know the advantages and features – all those I read about are to do with EPUB, collaborative working, teams or digital designs, and those don't reflect my work.

Very important is the span column paragraph property which allows to span several columns in a text frame or to split a column in several sub columns.
Very important is the tag feature, which is also important for creating PDFs with unlimited access.
A lot of problems with footnotes and page layout have been solved due to a better text engine. Up to CS5.5 it could happen that a footnote could force a page be empty when a document was opened.
With CS5 rounded frame corners which are editable were introduced.
Object Styles have been completed since CS3.
Content tools to create linked content were introduced. You need only to change the original content (text or image) and all linked content will be updated as any other link. The linked content can be in the same and in any other document.
Since CS5.5 it is much easier to anchor frames in a text flow with the little at the top of a frame symbol.

  • Web2pdf add-on conflicts with my Adobe CS3 PDF printer.

I installed the web2pdf add-on because I thought it was an idea with merit, particularly since creating PDFs without Adobe CS graphics software was an annoyance I routinely encounter (since Adobe restricts the number of devices that may be loaded with a given Adobe Creative Suite "purchase"). I downloaded the web2pdf add-on, and it would not create a PDF, instead presenting me with an error message.
"Adobe PDF Properties" tells me my PDF printer is working properly, but when I attempt to print a PDF, I get a pop-up window that informs me of an "error printing PDF." If I try again, the popup window tells me that my "Adobe PDF" is in "error status" until I remove the queued document.
I never had this problem before I downloaded print 2pdf, and now that I've uninstalled it, the problem remains.
How do I regain my Adobe PDF function? Any steps I can take to set my system back to its original operational state? Would reloading my Adobe CS3 solve the problem? Is there anything I should/can do before I resort to that (a very timely process)?

HI, edmeister. Thanks for your response.
Yes, I have uninstalled web2pdf. However, when I attempt to print a PDF, "Adobe PDF Properties" tells me my PDF printer is working properly, but when I attempt to print a PDF, I still get a pop-up window that informs me of an "error printing PDF." If I try again, the popup window tells me that my "Adobe PDF" is in "error status" until I remove the queued document.
I never had this problem before I downloaded print 2pdf, and now that I've uninstalled it, the problem remains.

  • Lightroom 1.4.1 printing problem -Mac pro OS X 10.5.1 & Epson 3800 printer

    Updated to 1.4.1 from 1.4.
Printing is back to the ugly magenta - not as bad as with 1.3.1, but printing was perfect with 1.4
I printed the same file from Lightroom, from Aperture & from Adobe photoshop CS3.
Printing from Aperture & from Adobe photoshop CS3 are good. Soft-proofing from Aperture is near perfect. With Photoshop CS3 the soft-proofing thru View is good, but the review before printing is totally off, as it has been for eons. Soft-proofing in Lightroom 1.4.1 is equivalent to soft-proofing in Aperture (looks the same on the monitor) - but it doesn't print that way. Prints are way too magenta, as they were with 1.3.1
Seems like Adobe just can't get it right. Fix one thing only to mess something else up.
How do I go back to Lightroom 1.4?

    Mary Ann,
I'm having the same problem. It appears that changing the print option to "let LR manage colors" doesn't save and hence the color shift.

  • Continuing printing problems with LR 1.3.1 (magenta)

Downloaded/installed the .1 version of 1.3 hoping that it would "fix" the magenta tinge associated with printing thru LR print. It did not. Still the same magenta tint. Although most of the discussion in previous threads had to do with MACs, I'm running a vista PC. This is a new PC ... previously had an XP PC running version 1.2 ... no issues. Do the issues identified for MACs also apply to PC users? Also not printing to an Epson printer, but to an HP B9180. Thanks.

Sorry I'm a bit late to this thread. Erik and Samora, I am glad that you solved the Lightroom / HP B9180 printing problem. Please keep this forum posted about HP followups or any future printing problems you may have.
Not to jinx you, but I have been down that road before. I started out with Lightroom printing with the magenta tint, mentioned by many others. I didn't understand what was happening since I had a managed workflow on my XP machine, and PS CS3 made excellent prints on the B9180. I spent much time on this forum looking for answers. Finally I thought I found the answer and changed the default printer to the B9180. (See http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bca1a12/8 for the full info.) Unfortunately, the good news didn't last. Within a couple of months Lightoom returned to its former bad behavior.
I think there is an insidious problem here with Lightroom, much more than people simply not selecting the correct profile or not understanding color management. What works for some people does not work for others. What worked at one time for me (see the above reference) now longer works. It seems that most people do not have a problem but others have great problems that apparently defy logic. The Lightroom bug bites Epsons, HPs, and Canons, as well as both Windows and Mac machines. After hours of analysis and testing, the best I can come up with is: "it just doesn't make sense." (I say this with tongue-in-cheek since I'm a highly-analytical person.)
After a couple hours of test printing, all unsuccessfully, I tried to reduce possible conflicting issues by deleting from the B9180 color management properties all profiles, except the HP PSPro B9100-Advanced Photo Glossy; this is so Lightroom could not inadvertently select another profile. I made sure that the B9180 printing preferences was set to Application Managed Color. Then I made sure that the profile selected in the Lightroom Printing module was HP PSPro B9100-Advanced Photo Glossy. Still the magenta tint. I also get the tint using a custom profile from InkJetArt for one of their papers. I do not get the magenta tint when I send Lightroom output to my old Epson 1280, which I also have connected to the computer (parallel cable instead of USB). It just doesn't make sense.
