CS3 won't boot until CS2 is loaded

First, excuse me for my approximative english (I'm french... nobody is perfect !)
On a friend's computer where CS3 was working fine, after trying to open a file, indesign won't work anymore ...
The indesign process is running but not the soft.
I've tryed to open a cs3 file with cs2 (got some errors... no surprise !) but CS3 would come up after ...
What could block CS3 and why it comes up after bringing up and shutting CS2 ???
How strange

No, even if I close the process and re-run indesign CS3 the soft won't load ... the process uses 100% of the computer's capacity (even after 5 minutes) ...
CS2 is working fine so I've tried to open a CS3 project with it ( testing everything ... expected errors ). After closing CS2 I've tried to re-run CS3 and it worked !
The only way for my friend to use CS3 is to open his project with CS2, close, and run CS3...The 2 softs were working fine before opening a file ( don't know anything about this file )

  • Help! My Tour won't boot, gets stuck on loading screen.

Earlier today, while my tour was charging it randomly rebooted itself, but it wouldn't boot all the way - the load screen froze about 2/3 of the way through and then didn't do anything (for like 15 minutes) I did both a hard and soft reset, but the phone still won't boot past that point. Because it won't boot, I can't connect it to the computer to reinstall the OS or anything.

    Hi there,
Unfortunately it sounds like you might have what is called a bricked or "nuked" BlackBerry.  There are ways to fix this, but it can take a couple of extra steps.
Start off by downloading the OS from your carrier to your computer.  You can find your carrier's BlackBerry download site here: http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp.  Once you've downloaded the OS for your device, install it to your computer.
Next, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader and open the Loader.exe file (note: if you have a 32-bit OS, there will not be an (x86) after Program Files).  Click Next to go to the Communication Port Selection page.  Now here is where you need to watch carefully and be on the ball to ensure it works.
Take your battery out of the your BlackBerry and plug your device into your computer.  As soon as you see USB-PIN:UNKNOWN in the connection spot, click Next.  If you miss it, don't worry, just unplug the device and plug it back in again to start the boot cycle again.  Once you've made it to the next page, you should be good to go to reload the OS.  At this point in time, you can also reinsert the battery.
Then just follow the steps to reload the OS and you should be set.  As a warning though, if you have not recently backed up your device, there is a chance that you may lose the data on the device.
Good luck and let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Satellite L305 won't boot until I press "Enter" repeatedly

My wife is going on a mission trip to Africa, and acquired a used Satellite L305-S5907 to donate to a needy student there. I used the original Toshiba recovery discs to reformat and reinstall Vista to original factory state, and have run all the endless Windows updates, including SP1 and 2. Everything seems to work fine except for one weird quirk. When I start or restart the computer, it powers up, but won't start to boot unless I repeatedly press Enter (or F2 or F12), and then go through the Boot screen or Setup screen. The computer was doing this before I restored it, but since it had belonged to a high school girl I hoped that a clean reinstall would fix things. The only thing that occurs to me is to update the BIOS, but drilling down through the levels of Toshiba's website, I get as far as a link to BIOS 2.20, but that page won't even load, let alone download the installer. I've searched for another way into Toshiba's download site, but can't find one, and I don't want to risk a third party BIOS fix.
She's leaving for Kenya next weekend, and wants to donate a conputer that's working smoothly, so any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I dumped Vista operating system a long time ago and installed Win 7.  I’ve used different OS system since Win 98; I thought Vista was not prime time.  Have you tried to fix with Windows STARTUP REPAIR if you haven’t found a solution yet?

  • PC won't boot until iPod-60GB is unplugged !?

    Hi,
I have installed & configured a 60gb iPod (with video) to a Dell notebook (Lat-D400).
Since day-1, every time i restart the system, unless iPod is unplugged from the notebook, the Windows does not load... at all!!
I also use a docking station for my notebook; I have tried booting with & without docking station - with iPod connected the WinXP-Pro doesnt load, without the iPod, the system boots very smoothly.
What could be the reasons? How to resolve this issue?
I guess there might be some conflicts, but how to determine & rectify them?
    Thanks,
    Ashish.

    Hi Jeff,
Thnx for suggesting this article; but unfortunately, it did not work.
The boot order did have USB as the 3rd optin, which I disabled, now the boot order is :
    1> Internal hard drive;
    2> CD drive &
    3> Floppy drive.
As soon as the iPod is unplugged, the system boots smoothly.
    Any other suggestions please?

  • Script for CS3 won't work in CS2

    Hello all,
I am new to scripting and trying to get a script written for CS3 to work in CS2. The script was given to me a participant in the InDesign forum. At any rate, here is the script:
    for (n=0; n<app.selection.length; n++) {
    app.selection[n].move([23.44, 100.05]);
I get an error messsage that says
    error #19
    error string "bad argument move"
    Line: 2
    Source: "app.selection[n].move([23.44, 100.0});"
    Offending text: "100.0"
As i said I am new to scripting and have been perusing the scripting manual but cannot gather what my error was, and I am trying to meet a deadline.
    Cheers in advance!

    Ok, me again.
I got it working - well, it moves the text boxes I select - but for some reason the Y variable isn't coming out correctly.
For example, if I use the coordinates 32.385, 16.231 in a script, it moves it to the correct spot on the X axis, but the coordinate for the Y will be off. Further, depending on what text box I select to move, it will vary (by 1-5 mm) along the Y axis. Different text boxes go to different areas along the Y axis, but never far from the script coordinate.
So I guess there does need to be some alteration made? I'll post this in the script forum too, not really sure where it belongs with this particular problem.
    Bleah.

The jumpstart script bailed after the errors with /etc/hosts and never finished setting up the target disk for properly booting up.

  • My iMac won't boot. It stays loading with the Apple logo then it turns to a Do Not Enter logo

It only boots when it's on Safe Mode but when I restart to Normal Mode the problem continues

In addition to the article rkaufmann87 provided, try shutting down your iMac and unplugging absolutely everything from it, including its power cable. Let it sit for an hour or so, then re-attach the power cord and the keyboard & mouse and see if it will boot normally.

  • IMac will turn on, but won't boot unless I wait until the next day

I've searched this forum, but can't seem to pinpoint my problem. I received this iMac for my office last March, and everything worked just fine. Lately, for the past 3-4 months, I can turn it on in the morning and everything runs fine.
I turn it off in the middle of the workday, thinking I won't need to use it for the rest of the day.
Of course, something comes up, and I need to turn it back on. When I press the button to turn it back on, nothing happens. Just a black screen and if it's quiet enough, I can hear the hard drive running.
It won't boot until I come back the next morning, almost as if I'm giving it time to cool off.
    Any ideas?

Turn off Energy Saver and use Screen Saver instead. Energy Saver is sensitive to certain non-Apple USB devices and may cause such a problem.

  • Btrfs: System won't boot anymore after unclean shutdown

    Hi,
I have a problem with my ArchLinux (kernel 3.19.2-1-ARCH).
I have my root partition as BTRFS and no /boot partition.
After an unclean shutdown the system won't boot anymore.
GRUB loads the kernel and the kernel starts but it hangs saying: Mounted /dev/sda3 on real root.
Then, I have to start a Live CD and do:
    btrfsck /dev/sda3
After that the system boots correctly.
I've tried adding fsck to the HOOKS in the mkinitcpio.conf file and in fact it tries to fsck the filesystem (but with BTRFS, fsck.btrfs doesn't work...)
    What can I do?
    Thanks

I'm also having this problem. I tried booting up the netinstall image to debug it, but I can't mount my btrfs volume from there either: mount just hangs. After a while, the kernel goes:
[...] INFO: task mount:612 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
    [...] Not tainted 3.19.2-1-ARCH #1
    [...] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.
[...] INFO: task btrfs-transacti:636 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
    [...] Not tainted 3.19.2-1-ARCH #1
    [...] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.
From this post I guessed that I might just need to wait so that I could defrag the volume once it was mounted, but it's been hanging for over 15min now (the message above continues to come up periodically).
Like the OP in the thread I linked to above, my btrfs volume is inside an LVM volume (which is on dm-crypt). Don't know whether that's relevant.

iMac that won't boot up!   When power is switched on it chimes, Apple logo appears, then loading bar, then spinning wheel.  Bar seems to load up and gets to around 25%, then reverts to the start again, gets to about 20% on the bar and then switches itself off leaving a black screen.  Tried all the remedies on internet with no avail so would welcome some advice other than binning what is a relatively new computer.  Earliest appointment Apple could offer was Thursday 17th, really useful for a business user _ not impressed,

You've probably tried this, but will it Safe Boot? Restart holding down the Shift key until you see the grey progress bar. You'll need to input your admin password during bootup. If it will boot you can then try to eject the disk using the various suggestions here that you haven't tried already:

I am running WIndows7. I boot up load itunes and it runs fine.. all aspects.
When I close it down and try to get back in later it just sits there. It won't work until I reboot the computer.
I have updated and reloaded several times. Nothing

Let's see whether this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, make sure you do this below to prevent same problem after restarting windows:
Go to. START button, type in
    MSCONFIG
    Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
    Restart Windows.

  • CS3 InDesign won't open a CS2 In Design .INX file

CS3 InDesign won't open a CS2 In Design .INX file.
I sent my graphic designer an .INX file created on CS2
and he got an error message and said he could not open.
He said it is not possible.
He lost the job - because he didn't want to investigate further.
I can't imagine ADOBE leaving this problem unsolved!
    What do I do??

I don't recall that. I can visualise the situation, but then I would expect it to create the same lost feature problems as encountered in opening with an earlier version. So there would still be a risk that the file would lose something in translation.
And then again, if a CS2 plug-in has been used and is required to open the file, I would expect the translation into XML to ignore anything that can't be translated, and for the depleted file still to open in CS3.
