CS3 Won't save Droplet on FAT32 formatted drive. (leopard) [solved]

PS CS3 doesn't want to save a droplet on my mac (Leopard).
I'm getting a message when I hit "save droplet" as follows:
"Could not create the droplet file [path/filename] because this volume format is not supported."
It turns out the answer was that the drive I was saving to was a FAT32 formatted drive. Apparently you can't save droplets to FAT32 drives.
Sometimes I wish I had my PC back!
Just posting in case somebody else runs into the problem.
Susan

Well known fact. Fat 32 is not supported.
You couldn't use that drive as a scratch drive either.
Drives MUST be formatted to Macintosh HFS+ Extended (Journaled).

  • Illustrator CS3 won't save ai files

I have Illustrator CS3 on Windows Vista Home on Dell Inspiron 530/530s
I have had this software for quite a while, but just recently it has stopped allowing me to save as an ai file. I can save in any other format just fine.
I have searched the web on this and tried every fix I saw, none of which worked. The most recent file is tiny, no fonts, 2 color! I was able to take it into Corel and save it as an ai and open it in Illustrator, but it would not resave in illustrator.
I have tried saving to desktop, checked print spooling was on auto (it was) etc. etc. I did buy 2 new HP printers recently. One is a laser P1515n, and the other a ink jet Photosmart C4680. Beyond that, nothing has changed.
This is a huge issue for me, and is causing down time trying to find an answer while being unproductive. HELP!?!~

  • Using a FAT32-formatted drive as backup disk with Time Machine

For strange and perverse reasons of my own, I'd like to use a FAT32-formatted external hard drive with Time Machine. Is this possible?

No, Time Machine needs a HFS+ formatted drive for its backup folder:
Mac OS Extended or Mac OS Extended Journaled.
_A solution_ if you still want to use the same drive for TM backup and for some Windows files:
Partition the drive before you start using it.
    1) Format it (using Disk Utility) as Mac OS Extended
    2) Make two partitions.
    3) Now you can format Partition2 as FAT32, so you have then two different volumes with each its own format.

  • Help! Logic Express 9 won't save projects to external Firewire Drive...

In our studio, we use Logic express 9 as an editor. I used 5 copies on 5 different Macs without problem. I installed a new copy on a Mac Book pro 17 but when I open a project and "Save As" my firewire 800 drive doesn't list as an option to save it. The disk works perfectly, it's formated Mac OS extended, I records externally with the other studio macs. It shows on my desktop and I can play files fine, it just doesn't show as an option in the Logic Express 9 "Save As" menu on this particular mac. I've searched the forums, but can't find this exact problem. Anyone know how to make it show as an option in the "Save As" menu?

  • CS3 Won't Save (Mac)

    Hi,
I am a school student making a flash game. We obviously have a server to save all of our files on and each of us have separate accounts.
I have a problem on Flash CS3 with saving. Every time I try and save it opens a dialog box saying this:
An unknown error occured while accessing /Network/Servers/harper.discovery1.school.nz/Volumes/Data/Shares/Homes/Leo/Desktop/Tower Defense Game.fla.
I have tried saving it to multiple places on my account, I have tried saving it to a flashdrive, I have even tried +K, connect to our school server, log into a different persons account, and saving it there, and it still won't work. It has not always been like this, it only started playing up on the day that we had a proxy server set up (I am assuming that it has something linked to this.) I have told the person who has set the proxy up, and he couldn't do anything to save it, I have also got my teacher (who manages all the server etc.) to have a look at it, and he can't seem to fix it either. The way the accounts are set up is 10.6 Workgroup Manager. There are a few other people in my class making a flash game, but only one of them has had the same problem as me (though he managed to fix it.) So finally, I decided to restart the computer, and lose all of my saves. I then logged into my account again, tried to save it, and yet again, it still does not work. I thought that it must be some kind of problem with my account, so I got my teacher to make me a new account. I +K my old account to get the flash game off, put it on my new account, and went on it. It worked for about a week, (it still might be working now) but I am now making a new part of my game on a different file, and it is not saving again (even though it is on a different account.)
Anyway, I hope someone will be able to help

Is it because last night I happened to turn on my Firewall
    Most likely, yes.

    Most likely, yes.
    > Problem is, I can't save the html file I just did
Copy the code from DW and paste it into Notepad. Save it.
    WAIT - are you
saying you are editing directly on the server? Why can't you
    save it?

  • Photoshop CS2 won't save files in JPEG format

I have Windows Vista and am using Photoshop CS2 Version 9.
Until today everything was working fine, but there are two problems.
    1. Only today I have a limited amount of formats to save a .PSD file in:
PSD, CIN, PDF, RAW, PNG, and TIFF.
Whereas if I want to save a JPEG file per say as another format, I get the full list to choose from.
    2. If I choose a layer on an image, not all the filters show up that I can run it through. The 'Artistic, Brush Strokes, Pixelate, Sketch, and Stylize' are not clickable.
    Thank you.

You slipped into 16 bit mode. Try going back to 8 bit.

  • Photoshop CS3 won't save files as ".png"?

I have the same problem as the creator of this thread...
    http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080417004746AAjYbui
...except, his solution did not work for me. In Adobe Photoshop CS3 for Mac, I cannot "Save For Web". The button is there, but it is disabled for some reason...
I have the image in RGB Mode as everyone says it should, and have kept it in 8bt resolution. I can save everything as ".psd", ".jpg", and many other files - but not ".png". It simply does not appear in the drop-down menu when I select "File - Save As".
Also, people have mentioned an "Alpha layer" or "Alpha channel", but I do not know what those are.
Please advise on how I can fix this without having to reinstall, if possible.
    Thanks!

Check the bit depth and color mode of the document.
And check that the plugins are installed.

  • CS3 won't save changed resolution

I keep saving image files at 350 resolution, sized the way I want but after saving programs reverts files to 240 resolution.  How do I fix this?  Any resolution I save at it keeps putting everything at 240 and that also changes the image size.

The pixels do change.  It stays the same when I save as a psd but not a jpg and I need it in the jpg format to send to printer.  I have been having this issue for a few weeks now but never before and I've used this program a lot.  My new document preset resolution is set at 300 but it keeps coming up as 240?  Why is it stuck on that?

  • I have a fat32 formatted drive (WD my passport 500GB) that is showing in disk utility but does not mount. I am using a macbook with mac osx 10.5.8.

Disk warrior came highly recommended on other posts but because the drive is not mac os formatted it won't do its warrior magic...
The drive shows in disk utility but the options to repair are greyed out. The drive ejects sometimes but not others. The drive powers up with light and I can hear noise (not loud just a hum that confirms (i think) that it is spinning.). The drive is as it cames and booted on both a windows XP pc and my macbook with mac os x 10.5.8.
I have tried test disk but after running for a day with no other command prompts other than the first recommend I uninstalled it.
    Any other suggestions?

    Hi Christina,
It's quite possible the AC PSU has given out, if It's only Bus powered as it appears, that's the worst idea ever & asking for eventual problems.

Did you install any WD SW?

  • Flash won't save to a network mapped drive

We upgraded a RAID5 disk array that we map from a network
share recently. The original disk was 1.8TB the new one is a GPT
    disk that is 3.6TB.
Now when we try to save files from FLASH CS3 we get errors
concerning the file or disk is read only, make sure another program
    doesn't have the file open..etc..etc...
All the permissions on the disk are fine. Photoshop CS3,
Dreamweaver etc..all play fine with the large GPT disk. Anyone else
have this problem or know of a solution.
I know the first release of Encore had this problem even with
TB drives. If it was over 1,000MB it did the same.
    thanks for any input.
PS: I have let the adobe updated get all the appropriate
    updates for all products.

Hi and welcome to Apple Discussions,
Did you get the flash drive from a reliable source. There are some available on the net that show a large capacity but are only 512 mb. or 1 gb. drives that have been altered to display a much larger capacity.
    Good luck,
    Alan

  • Large file problems with an external FAT32 formatted drive (solutions???)

I have an external hard drive that was from my PC and formatted as NTFS so it was read only on my Mac. I formatted it to FAT32 so that I could read/write to it from both my Mac and PC.
Now, because it is formatted FAT32, I can only have a 4GB max file which has proved to be a pain to me. Is there not a format that satisfies both platform with unrestricted file sizes?
    Thanks in advance.

Well, the answer is: not easily.
NTFS, EXT2, and Mac HFS can all be read and written by Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, with appropriate software. You should probably settle on what you are going to use most, and use that as your preferred filesystem.
For example, if you were going to use the Mac mostly to deal with the disk, format the disk using HFS+. On Windows, buy MacDrive and install it to read/write the Mac-format disk. If you are going to use Windows most of the time, then install MacFUSE and NTFS-3g on your Mac (http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/). et cetera.
There's nothing in the way of a really good cross-platform filesystem. ZFS may eventually become that (one might hope), but that's still not quite there.

  • Aperture won't save the serial number under Snow Leopard

When purchasing the unibody MBP17 in the last month, had Aperture (2.1.4) pre-installed. Worked fine under Leopard, no problems. Upgraded to Snow Leopard this past Friday and when launching Aperture, the program never has the serial number filled in. I have to enter the serial number each time I launch the program.
Anyone else notice this problem? If so, any ideas on how to solve it?
    Thanks in advance
    Roger

Yeah, I've discovered I have the same problem. Sorry to say that I haven't discovered a solution.

  • Capture Problem (av-1) - Mac OS Extended formatted drives

I've got a bit of a stumper. I've been trying to capture some video. (I'm backing up all my Hi8 tapes to DVD.) I have no size limit enabled. The time limit is set to 30 minutes. When I finish, FCP stop the capture and creates the capture files. I have one 4.1GB file (Untitled) with the movie and sound and another 780MB file (Untitled-av-1) which is not playable. The movie file plays with quick time and is able to be edited with FCP. But, the other file does nothing. If I delete the second file, the first movie becomes unplayable and uneditable in FCP.
I searched this issue. I do not have Norton AV or any virus protection software. All my drives are formatted MacOS extended.
I don't know why else this extra file is there? Anybody know? I've captured files before and this did not happen. Strangely it's happening now.

    Well, you did mention...
so I don't understand why it's (apparently) running into a problem peculiar to FAT32-formatted drives
I kind of had to assume at that point the source drive was the one you formatted as Mac OS Extended two years ago, and the target drive was FAT32. If not, then I'm not sure why you mentioned FAT32 at all.
In that same thinking, error code 0 is directly related to FAT formatted drives.

  • Error code 0 when copying a large file to a Mac OS Extended formatted drive

I always back up my photos manually by dragging a folder containing many folders containing many photos into an external drive that I immediately formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) the day I bought it 2 years ago. I now run into a Error Code 0 when I do this. The "mother" folder is 240 GB in size. As I stated, this drive has been formatted for the Mac, so I don't understand why it's (apparently) running into a problem peculiar to FAT32-formatted drives. My iMac has 16 GB of RAM, of which 10 GB was free, the last time I tried to do this.
