CS3 WONT ACCEPT MP3 FILES - HELP NEEDED.

Does anyone know why I cant add Mp3 files to PP, when I try adding one it says "File Format not supported", this never happened with PP 2.0.

>got it from a friend
Was it on an Adobe DVD... or a DVD-R your friend wrote?
Did your friend certify that he never installed it so you CAN activate?

  • CS3 Wont accept mpeg 1 or 2

CS3 Wont accept mpeg 1 or 2 do you know whats going on?
Is there a way to make it accept all file formats? Why does premiere elements accept all file formats but pro cs3 not?

From Renee Chevalier after months away.
I came back here after my RANT at Adobe and still feel that Adobe has let users down.
And to the People who call them selves professionals let me say this.
You are a bunch of A-- H--- when you support a product with your type of attitude that it is a professional product dont try to import lesser quality MPEG video into it. Well I guess that leaves us professionals out that do make money making movies and also putting programs up on the PEG stations and doing Commercials. WE who do not sit in judgment on our laurels telling others that they are not professionals if they use an MPEG camera. We who take that footage of a Tornado or a Hurricane and get it ready for the big time news casts. We non professionals who make sure people get the whole story. OH so sorry we are not professionals because we use MPEG footage.
Well I guess my answer to that is sit on your high perch and judge others but every once and a while look at your self important position and kick your self in the A-- Because you deserve it. And if you want me to do it for you I will come and do it for you just give me the time and place.
Adobe has gotten too big for its own good. They are producing programs taking out things that were included in older versions and not including them in the newer versions. And the sales staff doesnt know what is in the program because they are in India and dont use the programs because they make 2 dollars a day.
If Adobe has so many money problems maybe they should take a page out of Toyota's way of doing business. Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, the product to the point where it doesnt have any operating problems at all. Then keep it around for 5 years before you change it again. Hire people who actually use the product and have put it through the paces to the point of making sure that it works in and on all TVs and computers and professional equipment. Hell that product CS 3 and 4 wouldnt even work with my JVC Deck. I have to import footage DV and mini DV footage from a camera or into MS Movie Maker. How professional is that. So MR Professional look at the pros out using the product before you start your rant about what should and shouldnt be used. Remember it isnt February 09 yet. And even after February 09 the PEG stations and even some others will still be broadcasting in non digital format. So the MPEG Format is just fine and is as good or better than the Transmitted TV signal.

Do you work for ADOBE? Is the only editing you do with a computer screen with a customer that calls with a problem?
    Get off your high horse.
Adobe has many problems and one is that they are not able to do what is necessary to stay the course and stay in business.
After my rant I called Adobe and asked them about the fix I found on another forum not this one. They said that it would not work. They also said that it was not a sanctioned fix and if it did work by chance they could not tell anyone to do it.

  • How do I save markers to an MP3 file? Need help asap.

I add the markers to my wav file and save the wav file as my master. Then I save the wav file with the markers as an MP3 file. However, when I open up the MP3 file, there are no markers. I need the tracks to be on the MP3 file for digital downloads. how do I add markers on  an MP3 file so I can either
use that file to have as a digital download and/or burn a CD. Either way I use the file, I need to have the markers on the MP3 file. I really need help with this. I am working on a project that is time sensitive. Anyone that can help me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    No.
I've reread portions of the manual and it's kind of coufusing, but I think I figured it out
The manual states in order to save markers, you have to save non-audio data with the file. It also states it saves this as XMP info in an mp3.
I don't think the markers are a datatype that get exported with XMP info, at least from what I can tell becuase I have been unable to save an mp3 with the markers.
But, let's sidestep that. Right now, this isn't your issue. Your issue is you want to preserve track markings so when people download this mp3, they can listen to it as "tracks" rather than a continious MP3. The problem is not all mp3 software supports it, in fact, everything that does has it bolted on. So only a small percentage of people downloading the mp3 will be able to actually use that function. foobar2000 and winamp users, yeah, they could deal with an mp3 using an embedded cue....if you embedded the cuesheet as it required. Windows Media/iTunes people...they have absolutely no support for playing a long mp3 as tracks.
so, to begin with...what you want to do, is "technically impossible". CUE is not supported by id3v2 and is therefore not offically supported. Don't get angry at me, I did not write the mp3 specifications. You'll likely find that even if you do find a solution googling "embed cuesheet mp3", the results won't work the way you want or be a method thats universal. Regardless of how you do this....audition is not going to embed markers when you save as mp3. You'd have to export the markers to a cue-sheet somehow (which I haven't figured out how to do in audition because it appears it doesn't) and use an external program to embed them...or distribute the cue file with the mp3. milage will vary, majority of users probably wouldn't be able to make use of it.
The OTHER alternative...which is probably less supported than embedding a cue sheet to an mp3, is you CAN maintain makers and have a layer-3 bitstream...but you have to save the file as a .wav using an ACM WAV and use a layer 3 codec. Technically, you're creating a wav, but since wav can work technically as a container format, the audio content is mpeg layer 3...but, again....since things like Media Player or iTunes or even Winamp don't pay attention to them as they're extra information in the WAV header, this still doesn't give you the track-split function you're looking for.
there have only been loose standards defined by developers and users for what you want to do. while there are "open" ways of doing it, it's never gained much support.
the only way you can guarntee you can distrubte track'd mp3's is to split thing in to seperate files to begin with.
    sorry.

  • IMovie wont accept .mov files. Help please.

I have imported a bunch of movie files from my digital camera. They are now in IPhoto and everything is fine. I would like to import them into IMovie to do some editing but for some reason it will not accept the file. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? All of the files i am trying to move into IMovie are .mov files. Shouldnt they work? Please help.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? All of the files i am trying to move into IMovie are .mov files. Shouldnt they work?
Not necessarily. MOV is a generic file container -- not a compression format. It can hold any audio and video compression format combination compatible with the QT structure and currently installed QT components. (Even WMV content can be placed in an MOV container.) Unfortunately, iMovie '08 will only import files containing compression formats that it can edit "natively." Kodak digital cameras, for instance, tend to favor MPEG4/µ-Law compression. And, while the MPEG-4 video is compatible with iMovie '08, the µ-Law 2:1 audio compression is not. To import an MOV file, both audio and video compression must be compatible. In the case of the MPEG4/µ-Law file, only the audio format has to be converted to make the file compatible. One way to do this is to use GarageBand to access the "Movie to MPEG-4" export option and "Pass through" the video which converting the audio to AAC -- mono 64 kbps at 44.1 kHz will work here -- and place both in an MP4 container. Another method is to simply convert both audio and video to compatible formats using a converter of your choice.

  • Itunes 8 wont import mp3 files

When I sync my ipod, it gives me an error message of about 40 mp3s that wont copy to the library because itunes doesnt support the audio format. The weird part is that these files werent added recently. I've had them on my ipod/library for awhile. The majority of the files were downloaded from Amazon.com, and they all play in WMP, and Quicktime. I've also checked the id tags with mp3tag, and all have the same version ID3v2.3, and all are indeed mp3 files. When I try to import them into my library, either by drag and drop or by adding file to library, Itunes does nothing. The file doesnt show up in the library at all. Any help with this would be appreciated.

I can no longer choose my kbps of the desired format I want when importing/converting from the DESKTOP.
No longer? This was never an option.
Where did you select this previously?
If the file is one iTunes already can use (WAV, AIFF, MP3, AAC or Apple Lossless), it will simply add it to iTunes. It never asked what you wanted to convert it to.
However, it can be done without having to add and and then convert.
Go to iTunes prefs -> General and click th eImport setting button.
Set the format /bitrate you want the imported files to be.
Now hold the Option key and go to menu Advanced -> Convert selection to...
This will call up a windows to select folder/file. Select what you want, then OK.
This will import and convert the files the format you have set in iTunes prefs - Importing.

  • MP3 burning help needed please

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me please.
I'm wanting to burn a mp3 cd but with the songs in separate folders so that when i play them in my car i can flick between the albums instead of having to go through all the singles one after another.
Does anyone know of a good mp3 burner that can do this, and where to get it from too.
All and any help in this matter is greatly appreciated
    Cheers
    Paul

You want them in separate Album folders?
Put the songs into the playlist.
Sort the playlist by Album then burn it as MP3* disc.
This will put the songs into Album folders.
Likewise, if you sort by Artist, songs will be put into Artist/Album/ folders.
    * Note that only MP3 files will be burned to the disc. If the files are not already MP3 format, they will be skipped.
If you burn it as a DataCD, it wil work the same except it will copy the files regardless of format. I do this as my CD player will work with both AAC & MP3 formats.

  • Converting M4A to MP3.  Help needed.

I have over 12,000 songs in my library. About half of my songs were imported in mp3 format. The other half are AAC audio files. My goal is to have all of my songs in mp3.
So, I started to 'convert' the AAC files to mp3 using the right click in iTunes. Then I noticed something. Let's say the original m4a file for a certain song was 4.56MB. Now, after it's been converted to mp3 the file has doubled in size to 9.12MB. Even though I deleted the orginal m4a. What is going on? How can convert all my songs to mp3 and not have any of the data left of the m4a?
    Thank you so much

Sounds like you are using a much larger bit rate for importing MP3 tracks than AAC tracks. For example, normally, AAC files default to a bit rate of 128kbps unless you go into the import preference and pick a higher custom rate. Likewise, you can change your import preference to MP3 and pick different rates, 128, 160, 192, 256, etc.
In general, AAC files are a bit smaller than the SAME bit rate MP3 track, so a 128-AAC should be a bit smaller than a 128-MP3. But for the sake of argument, let's say they are the same size. If you imported a lot of AAC files at 128 and are not using an import MP3 setting of 256 kbps, then the MP3 files will be roughly twice the size as the AAC files.
So first thing to check is what bit rate are the AAC files you already have and what bitrate you are now using for MP3 files. If the MP3 bit rate is much larger than the AAC bit rate, then you will get much larger files sizes.
    Cheers,
    Patrick

  • Photoshop CS3 wont open any files?

I'm running photoshop cs3 and recently every time I try and open a file nothing happens, well what happens is I see the open file box pop up and disappear and then I can not do anything in PS, every time I click something I hear a noise and thats it, I have to restart Photoshop.
The only way to open a file is if I drag and drop a file in PS.
I'm running windows XP service pack 2 if that helps at all, and yes I have reinstalled and the problem still persists.

Hi there, I am relatively new to Aperture but I have been using iPhoto for years.  I can't seem to find a way to burn photos to my optical drive.  I need them full resolution for printing purposes.  Any help would be most appreciated.  Thanks

how do I find that window?  *did I just say window?*

  • Adobe Premiere CS3 not accepting video files and out of synch

    Hi everyone,
Just a quick summary of the project I'm working on:
Approx 26 hours of HD footage captured from Canon XH-A1. My system specs are:
    - Intel Quad Core Q6600 2.4Ghz CPU
    - 2Gb RAM
    - 4 X 500gb SATA 2 Drives
    - At least 60 GIGS of head room on each drive
    - Windows XP
    Anyways, onto the PROBLEM:
I downloaded the CS3 UPDATES the other day to find that all my video files had to be re-indexed and after this had been done my TIMELINES had all been adjusted and altered (sometimes only a second or two off, sometimes more), so basically my entire project was out of whack. I googled this and found that I was not the only person experiencing the problem.
Since my project has taken me 9 months so far to complete this is a huge deal.
I saved my project plus I had a backup copy from before I did the updates, and I then uninstalled CS3 and then re-installed it WITHOUT the latest updates.
I thought this would fix the problem but I was WRONG!!!
I loaded up the project and it asked me to locate the video files - I directed the program to them and then this error message popped up:
"The selected file cannot be linked because its type (video) does not match the original file's type (audio and video)"
I pressed Cancel and entered the project, where all my video files were now OFFLINE.
I then found that by linking a video file 1 at a time (or as most as 6 at once) the error message would not pop up (???) and it could link up to the video files.
BUT the problems continued because I found that most if not all of the video files were now OUT OF SYNC and hence unusable. The original files of course are NOT out of sync so this is a program error.
I have done various trouble shooting strategies to locate the cause of the error to no avail.
If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated, my project os of immense importance to me.
    Regards,
    Jeremy.

Ok, I installed the first update so I have version 3.1 which WAS working fine, but when I tried to load up the project and link the video files this message keeps popping up:
    [..\..\Src\Win\WinPathUtils.ccp-553]
Also, no, my project is not 24P, it is 25P 50i.

I have completed a CDROM for pc users for a client.

I don’t know how .Mac Backup works, so all I can say is which are the files & folders you need to restore from the backup (assuming you did actually back up them, that is).
Mail stores most preferences and all account settings in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist (except the passwords, which are stored in the keychain). Everything else, including all your messages and mailboxes, is stored in ~/Library/Mail/.
Similarly, Address Book (whose data you should back up as well) stores the settings in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist and the data in ~/Library/Application Support/AddresBook/.
Other applications store preferences and data in other places. You may want to ask in the appropriate forums for more information on those.
You may also want to read this:
How to back up and restore your important Mac OS X 10.4 files
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.
