Cs4: 3D-Mode gone

My '3D-mode' as  well as some 'workspaces' like 'Analysis' dissapeared since I opened Photoshop the last time.
Now I can not work with 3D-layers for example.
Does anybody know, how I could switch it on again?

In Photoshop, check Edit - Preferences - Performance.
Do you see a checkmark next to OpenGL?  If not, what does it say?
Perhaps you need to update your video drivers to provide Photoshop access to OpenGL.  Have you done any such updates since the last time you saw it work?

  • A question about Encore CS4 Authoring Mode.

How does Encore CS4 "Authoring Mode", DVD or BLU-RAY, in the projects panel affect the workflow?
It seems that no matter what mode you select, you can still choose to author either a dvd or blu-ray disc in the "Build" panel.

    Ok...
I think i figured it out. Appearently the author mode determines whether dvd or blu-ray transcoding will occur when you build or transcode now.

  • Clone STamp normal Mode GONE!!

i used the clone stamp in disolve mode, now the normal mode is gone.  it does not show up
on the pulldown option.   there are about 15 options but "normal" is not one of them?

    Hi,
When you open the drop down of the blending modes, you see Dissolve as the first one, just try scrolling the bar at the right of that drop dow, you will find the Normal Mode at the top of that list. It is the first option hence hides as you select another mode like Dissolve or Behind.
Else you ca try Reseting the tool by the first option in the options bar with the Clone tool selected.

  • DW CS4/Mac: Shortcuts gone. How get them back?

    Hi!
Using DW CS4 on Mac G5 PowerPC and Mac OS 10.5.4.
A few days ago, I noticed that some shortcuts have gone AWOL.
I cannot copy code using Cmnd + c. Instead, I have to right-click and select "copy" (and in the menu that appears, the copy option doesn't show any shortcut).
Neither can I e.g. create links by highlighting text and go for Cmnd + L. Probably, there are more...
The only thing I can think of that I recently did was that I tested a few different workspace layouts but then went back to "Designer" which is the layout I prefer. Have tried other, hoping that my shortcuts would return, but no go so far.
    Anybody knows a remedy?
    TIA
    Dan

Click on Dreamweaver->Keyboard Shortcuts.  That's where all the shortcuts are written.  If it's not saving those when you re-open DW the next time then you have a permissions error or file corruption.  I don't know the file name/location but there may be someone else who can help with that or I can try to look into it later.

  • "Clamshell Mode" gone with 10.6.6? Or not?

Can people confirm if "clamshell mode" (using a laptop with closed lid; power, keyboard/mouse and monitor attached) still works in 10.6.6? I have seen reports that this (for me pretty important functionality) has been lost with the 10.6.6 update.

I just received my MBP 15" Core i7, bought the Henge Dock docking station and all related gear including an apple Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad and ended up also frustrated because the clamshell mode is not working... once I disconnect the laptop from the power to put in the dock, the laptop never wakes up again wither with keyuboard keystroke or magic trackpad activity... please let me know if there is any worksoround for this problem. Thanks.

  • PHOTOSHOP CS4 bit mode compatibility

I have files in RGB and their bit modes are deactivated so I can't add another RGB photo (in 8-bit mode) into that file nor can I deactivate the bit mode in the photo to match the main files. How to I make these two images compatible??? Please help!

Are you sure you are not in "Multichannel" mode?
That's the only way I can think of of not having the option to change bit depth.
Could you post a similar screen shot?
Even better, can you post a link to one of your affected files?

  • Dreamweaver CS4 slideshow option gone?

    Hello.
Am I right that Dreamweaver no longer has a slideshow option?  That is, the slideshows that were possible in CS3 are no longer available?
I just want something simple- no thumbnails, no controls- just a repeating, fading slideshow, so the ones in Fireworks are also unsuitable.
Does anyone have any suggestions that don't involve using code as to how I should put a flash slideshow on my webpage?
    Cheers,
    Sarah

I agree with Sarah. I to would like to have several images on my home page fade from one to the other without controls etc. I saw a tutorial for CS3 which seemed to make this a very simple process but with my CS4 this seems now more complicated. I've managed to install phatfusion slideshow - not sure if this will be of any use as I've not had a chance to tinker about with it - feel free to point me in the right direction if you have used this. Where do I find this Bridge Output on Dreamweaver or how do I get it if it is not installed.
    Cheers

  • CS4 F2 mode of Photoshop

Most of you will know about the modes obtainable by pressing `f' inside photoshop, I'm asking a question about the 2nd and 3rd of those modes.
Is there any way to be less than full screen in either F2 or F3.

    Noel Carboni wrote:
Anticipating your answer, after having read the other thread...
I assume you have conditions where you can't see the edges of your image for some reason, you're looking to "overscroll" a document.  Further assuming you want to stay with Tabbed view, here's my suggestion:
Make the Photoshop application "Restored", meaning the window does not occupy the full screen (but perhaps most of it).
Now drag the right edge of the window to the left, leaving some space where you can see the desktop all along the right side of your display.
Grab whatever panels you like to keep open and drag them off the Photoshop main window and onto the empty desktop space along the right.
Arrange the panels so they fit together.  They are a bit "magnetic" and will help you do this.
Voila, tabbed images never leave the bounds of your Photoshop main window, and you have your panels where you can always get to them, and they don't obscure the image.
People with multiple monitors often do it this way.  In that case there's LOTS of room past the edge of the Photoshop main window (i.e., a whole monitor).
    -Noel
I can see some benefit in your suggestion but I think you may have missed my main purpose in wanting to run in `F2' mode.
I like to be able to pull an image around the work space as I work.  Even images that do not overrun the work space.  That is, even when I have a document open that does not even come close to filling the workspace... I may want to pull it around as I work a corner area or etc.
In the `Standard screen' or initial mode (The tabbed view mentioned a few times in both threads) I cannot drag an image around the work space unless the photoshop application screen is smaller than the image (document).
I'm not paritcularly wedded to Tabbed view (or standard mode) and prefer some of the attributes of `F2' or full screen mode.  In particular the ability regardless of document size to be able to pull an image around the works space with the `hand tool'.  But I don't like the Full Screen itself.
I hope that makes some sense.
So to sum up:  I want to be able to pull (using Hand tool with space bar), an image  (or document) around the workspace even when that image is smaller than the work space.  That is not possible in `F1' (standard) mode near as I can tell.
The only way I see to do that is to go to `F2' (Full Screen) mode which allows one to employ the hand tool even when the docment is smaller than the workspace.  However I don't like the full screen aspect.   Its just too big on a 25.5 inch monitor and anyway I like to be able to see and have access to other applications on the desktop as I work.  I don't like having to go to the taskbar for them.

  • Silencer/Vibrate mode gone wild.

Recently, I have noticed that when I switch the my iPhone (original) to vibrate mode my phone will randomly start vibrating. The screen will display the bell and then it will display the no bell and vibrate as if I had just tuned on the silencer. It does this every couple of minutes until I turn the silencer off.
    Has anyone experienced this problem?
    Michael

My phone is also vibrating whenever i touch the screen, particularly in the upper left corner near where the silence switch is located. I have a crystal screen protector on it. Do you think it might have something to do with that (like some sort of magnetic field)?
If I bought my 3G iphone at ATT, will the Apple Store replace it if it's defective?

  • Recovery mode gone in Mavericks?

I have recently discovered that I no longer have a Recovery Partition in Mavericks OS X. Restarting with Command + R only gives the option of Internet Recovery. Any ideas why and what to do to get it back? I've read other discussions and mostly seems to be other complications such as installing straight from one of the Lions etc. I've also seen people recommending 3rd party applications or scripts or terminal commands, I can't see why that would be required.. Why would it have just disappeared like that?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It makes no changes to your data.
Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
{ diskutil list; echo; diskutil cs list; } | pbcopy
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered.
The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produced no output, the Clipboard will be empty. Paste into a reply to this message.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

  • CS4, reverting to CS3 (and getting a refund!) but still interested in opinions

I've just spent the last 24 hours trying to muscle my way through the myriad of problems I'm finding with CS4. I've managed to alleviate some, but still can't produce my end video.
To start off, I'm running on Windows Vista. All the problems seem to centre around Media Encoder (although I didn't get far enough to play with Encore or On Location).
Initial problems where to do with installation. If CS3 is removed after CS4 is installed the link to Media Encoder fails, you then have to removed CS4 and reinstall. Uninstall doesn't work correctly or completely, it leaves a fair amount of files behind that have to be manually removed, failure to do so resulst in Error 2 on reinstall (I'm guessing because the install tries to create some of the working directories, and fails because they are already there?).
After reinstallation, the job appeared correctly in Medie Encoder when it was fired up from Export in PP, and it was also now possible to add files to Encoder directly. I tried a test run of my project with the following settings:
    H264
    Width : 1280
    Height : 720
    fps : 25
    Field order : Progressive
Quality : 4.0 and 5.1 (tried to runs)
Bit rate : can't remember, but atleast 12M for target and perhaps 30M for max?
    VBR 2 pass
    Sound : AAC
The end video was incredibly jerky.
I tried a second time using the following settings:
    Quicktime
    Codec : H264
    Quality : 100
    Width : 1280
    Height : 720
    fps : 25
    Field Order : progressive
    Pixel Aspect : square
    Use maximum bit depth ticked
Bit rate : 1k (I tried to move this to 5k however it kept reverting back)
    Sound : AAC
Export from PP initially failed, the job appeared in the queue, however nothing actually happened, it just sat there. I read on another post that updating Quicktime to 7.5.5 fixes that (does PP rely on Quicktime for the codec?), tried and the job then started.
Upon completion, the video played smoothly, although quality was low (low bit rate?). However the video to audio sychronisation was completely out. 30 seconds of play, and the sound was around a second behind the video.
I then tried applying all of the updates. As with other people, the Encoder portion failed initially (even though I started the update process from Encoder), but then succeeded the second time.
Upon completion of the updates, the problem reverted back to the initial, i.e. the job started OK, but didn't actually do anything.
The render settings I'm using are required by the web site I'm trying to create this video for, and also worked without issue in CS3.
It would seem to me that the Media Encoder portion in CS4, on the Windows version atleast, is seriously flawed (and no, I'm not going to buy a MAC ;-)).
I would like some answers to these problems, despite all the issues, I did like the overall look and feel of the product compared to CS3, and I also now need the AVCHD support.
Forgive any innacuracies in the phrases used, settings etc, CS4 has been removed from my system for now, so it was all from memory.

    Stuart,
Maybe I'm just too old and have seen too many "revolutions," to get onto that wagon.
However, the more I follow CS4 threads, the more I am starting to question whether I will upgrade from CS2, or not. Some things look useful to me (more than with CS3), but then there are the problems.
Adobe IS listening, as evidenced by a few of the folk on the team dropping by to give info on updates, etc. Having some major "fixes" so soon upon release, indicates to me, that they are working on it.
I didn't move to CS3 for similar reasons. Also, it really did not offer ME much in the way of useful features.
Whether it's through bug reports, posts in the forum or direct correspondence with Adobe, the best way to get their attention, and provide them with useful data, is to offer as much detail on the specific problem(s) as one can and demonstrate repeatability. General posturing might make one feel better, but does little to get improvements in the program.
As you state, some of the problems are probably OE. Some are system specific, and others are related to 3rd party software. Still, there do seem to be a lot of issues that ARE CS4-specific. These worry me. These are the issues that I would like to see Adobe address. So far, they seem to be, albeit maybe not quickly and efficiently enough for many users. CS4 does seem to be more of a "work in progress," than I am willing to take on just yet, especially as it would also likely mean a new workstation and new OS (one that is not without some problems of its own and a new learning curve also).
I'm fortunate enough to have CS2 and a rock-solid group of systems to use it on. It does 95% of what I'd like for it to do, and that extra 5% has yet to intice me, especially with the "problems" that I've been reading about.
As for the Adobe faces in the forum, they have shown up, when they could actually tell us something. I view that as a very positive sign. Even when they have dropped in, too many people demand to know "WHEN?" something will be fixed. If they knew, they'd tell us.
I'm sorry that CS4 has not gone more smoothly, upon release. It saddens me greatly. However, it is also why I will be waiting and keep reading. For me, this will be an upgrade that will be very expensive, because it's not just the software. I hope that Adobe does get it all running and running smoothly.
I would anticipate, and hope, that the next update fixes most of the issues. I anticipate, and hope, that Adobe will provide us with the same sort of info on it, as they have done with 4.0.1 & AME's update. I also hope that the forum subscribers will concentrate on the info provided and cease with the "WHEN?" The Adobe posters do not know yet, as the coders are still working on it. It *seems* that rushing to meet a product release date might have gotten us into this trouble to begin with.
My fingers are all crossed. Maybe 4.0.2 will signal that it's time for me to make the jump.

  • Why can't I re-install CS4?

    Dear friends on the forum:
    I recently purchased Abode CS4 on-line
and managed to install it OK.  Just the other day, however, it crashed and wouldn't let me launch it again so I
uninstalled CS4, used Cleanscript then re-downloaded the program and re-installed it--or tried to!  What I got was that little window that appears right off the bat
saying "Adobe Premiere Pro Installer: Initiallizing" with the caption below reading "Checking System Profile"  All well and good.  However, that thin blue line indicated progress of the process gets 90% accross then stops, never to go to the end.
Any suggestions as to what I might do about this?   I have a PC running Windows XP Home Edition with an Intel Pentium 4 CPU with 2.8 GHz and 2.5 GB of RAM.
Many thanks for any and all input!
    Regards, Lewis

Yes I did buy my copy of CS4 from Adobe, Bill.  I didn't deactivate my copy before uninstalling, however.  How does one do that?  In any case, I went through this twice.  The first time, I simply uninstalled CS4 by going through the control panel.  Then I ran Clean Script but, of course, CS4 was already gone so I uninstalled all other CS4 applications (like Encore).   I then reinstalled CS4 from the setup file that was already on my computer and it was when that problem with "Checking System Components"or however it was phrasedcame up.  I tried uninstalling everything again and deleting the setup files, re-downloading it all and trying to re-re-install!  Same problem.
I tried the link to kindly provided but it led me to "Unexpected Error" at the site where it was supposed to be.  I will try again later.  In the meantime, if you have any further suggestions in light of the above, I'd be humbly grateful.
A computer-savvy friend suggested that I purchase a new hard drive, install it on my computer along with my O/S (Windows XP) and CS4 and get the BIOS to point to that drive when it goes to boot up the computer.  He said that I should dedicate this drive exclusively to my video work.  Does any of this make sense?
    Many thanks!
    In appreciation, Lewis

First, when you say that you bought CS4 "online," did you buy from Adobe Store?
Before you did the uninstall, did you deactivate your copy?

  • CS4 No longer in Add/Remove Programs

I installed CS4 Master Collection on my computer and had a lot of problems with it, so I decided to wipe it from my system and start over. This wasn't happening for me as it said the software was damaged.
I did a bit of research online and found that I could install a file from Adobe called CleanUp, which seemed to work at first, so I checked into the Add/Remove Programs to see if it was still installed. It was in the list, so I thought Adobe CleanUp didn't work so I tried again to uninstall from Add/Remove programs - It just popped up a message saying the software may have been already uninstalled, would I like to remove it from the Add/Remove Programs list, so I selected Yes.
But after a final check to see if CS4 really had gone, I went into the directory I first installed CS4 to, the files were still there (note: I have a custom install folder other than C:\Program Files, I save software installations to D:\Programs as my HD is partitioned and I use Vista which takes up a lot of space and the C:\ drive hardly has any to begin with, I know I know, but it came like that from the manufacturer).
So now, I can't uninstall CS4, manually or through Add/Remove Programs. I even tried to install CS4 again to see if it would just write over the current installation, but that wasn't happening for me. If anyone has any ideas or advice what I can do, that'd be great. If there is absolutely no way I can remove it, would deleting the CS4 folder cause any problems, especially as I reverted back to CS2 (the only other CS version I have right now).
    - DawnDesigner

It's a really mix to remove the CS4, in my personal opinion you probably have two options.
    1. to try to install the suite again a remove it
    2. to manually remove the folder where you install the software and through register remove from the list of add/remove software the unusable entrance for Adobe CS4
    a) run the utility regedit.exe
    b) if I'm not in a mistake it should be localized in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\windows\curren version\uninstall\
b.1) look arround the name that appear in the hives and just remove such which will be for the adobe CS4
    Take a look also in
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/247501 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314481
But first than all I recommend try to install again the suite a remove it.
by the way I hope your experience with Clean Script does not turn in a nightmare like in my case, which after running it, some links to re reference got damage as the help of MS office does not work anymore because xml files is not related to the right program or the starting of software like Windows Defender.
    Good Luck

  • Keylight 1.2 missing after update cs3 to cs4

    Hi @all
After upgrading from cs3 to cs4 I had the problem, that the keylight 1.2 plugin is missing. Also when I get a look in the plugin folder of CS4... gone!
Does anyone else have an idea, how to get back this plugin ? Are they on the CS4 MC DVD's somewhere ?
    Thanks and kind regards, Daniel

As Jonas said, if you chose to install the "Third Party Content", it should be there. Failing that, you can of course always copy your CS3 version over to CS$, but I'm not sure if it will cause crashes or something, as apparently Keylight is not the most robust plugin on the planet...
