CS4 6.06 Page size is now also the opacity

CS4 6.06, OS 10.6.8
Why did they decide to change the page size thing (where you choose the size you are looking at the page) and make it so that is where you select your opacity also? I keep having to click and click until I make sure the % is blue so that I don't accidently change the opacity of something on the page. This makes no sense at all to make it so much more work. This is really a big problem and a lot more work for me because they did this.
I'm trying to attach an image but I selected the camera above and then it said choose image but the attach image is greyed out.

In InDesign CS4 they introduced the Application Bar and Application Frame (Tabbed Windows)
In the Application Bar the area you show with the arrow is the Page View Preview,
This only changes the viewing size of the page onscreen.
If you say this is changing the opacity then something is wrong. (try resetting your preferences)
The Opacity selection slider is still in the Control Panel.
It should be just to the right of the Stroke selector in the Control Panel. This is same place it was in CS3, nothing changed with CS4
This will change the opacity, but you need to have something selected on the page for the Opacity adjustment to work.
Go to the Window menu and deselect the Application Bar to hide it.

    how to disable & hide & remove page size pop ups at the bottom left.
    You should open pdf and mouse over at the bottom left and you should see little pop ups which says something similar to "8.5 x 11.0 in".  Now do you understand me? if not hover the mouse over again to the bottom left when opened a pdf document.
    Do you remember my question at the first line? if not then read again. There is how to question.

    Hi Sirius,
    I like your faking style!
    Go to Edit->Preferences ->Page Display
    Set the 'Always show document page size' to enabled (checked)
    This will now stop the popup from displaying and the page size will now be a permanent display at the bottom left

  • How do I shrink a MS doc to a smaller page size, not just divide the document into a smaller size?

    I am trying to shrink a microsoft word document from a standard page to a smaller, possibly half page, to create a printable reference booklet I plan on laminating but when I try to change the page to a different size, it doesn't shrink the document to that size, it just breaks that page into a bunch of smaller pages, breaking up whatever chart or words were on the page. Any insight?
    Ex. I have a chart that looks like this on a standard letter size MS word doc page layout.
    Header 1
    Header 2
    Header 3
    Header 4
    I want to change this so that is it on a landscape "half letter" MS word doc page size, shrinking the chart, and keeping it in tact.
    When I change the page layout size, or try to copy paste to the above mentioned half letter doc size, the chart breaks up into multiple pieces, creating 3 or 4 "half letter" sizes, with only part of the chart on each.
    Help MUCH appreciated!

    You'll need to create a custom page size under "Page setup..." in Word. Word really isn't the best application for what you're trying to do, but a custom page size with custom margins should work.
    EDIT: Oh, and you'll need to change the sizes on your table, obviously.

  • Adjusting the page size in numbers on the ipad

    I need to be able to adjust/set the page size for numbers documents on the ipad. Every time I export the numbers document from icloud as a pdf to a pc the spreadsheets are all over the place with page breaks in the wrong places. If i export as an excel I lose all formatting. I can't download as a numbers doc as the pc will not support it. Is there a way of setting and locking the document/page size with out going through the print option as i do not have an airprint printer and am not going to get one either!

    I don't see a setting for page size.  Everything else related to that (sans setting the page size) appears to be found here:
    Click the wrench
    Share & Print
    Print
    Select portrait/landscape, content size, page numbering, headers
    Done (don't actually print it)
    I wonder if you set the page size when you actually go to print it.  I don't have a printer to try it on. Otherwise it looks like 8.5x11 is all you get.

  • In Pages, is there a way to reduce a document's page size, and have all the elements scale down to the new size?

    I have a 24" x 36" poster I created in Pages which has some graphic design elements, text boxes and photos. I want to make an 11" x 17" version of it. Almost exactly the same, with minor revisions. What's the best way to do that?
    Thanks!

    Print as PDF and take it to your local Copy shop.

    Since i've flashed to this new BETA bios, I have this new option, "SLI ARPUTURE SIZE" I can enable it or disable it.  What does this do, and is there a performance advantage?

    From what I've seen is to leave the option disabled if you are using SLI config, I think it actually hurts your performance.

  • Incorrect Page Size or Orientation Error Detected in Live Preflight

    Wednesday, November 10, 2010 12:16:40 PM PST
    I am trying to prepare a newsletter created in Adobe InDesign to send to a Printer in Germany.  This is the first time I'm sending a document to press since moving to Germany last February and the first time since upgrading my computer and software to:
    MacBookPro: Model 5,3
    Adobe InDesign:  ver. 6.0.6
    Adobe Acrobat Pro:  ver. 9.4.0
    The standard paper size in Europe is "A4" , slightly larger than our "Letter" size. Document was set up an "A4" document size. A4 is also selected on the Print menu.
    Live Preflight shows "incorrect page size or orientation" and says:
    Required: 612 pt. x 792 pt.
    Current: 595.276 pt. x 841.89 pt.
    Fix: Choose File/ Document Setup to specified required page size.
    I tried changing the document setup to the "required" 612 x 792, and the document was squeezed into the smaller space, ruining the document formatting! I undid the damage and looked further for the incorrect preference setting.
    There is a wrong setting somewhere, but I can't find it.
    Distiller is rejecting the document and won't generate a PDF. The only other errors detected in Preflight were RGB color space issues.
    All settings in InDesign Preferences, Print Menu and PDF generator are set for the size A4, yet Preflight insists that the Document
    Size and Orientation are incorrect and suggests changing the size to 612 pt. x 792 pt.
    I also noted that when setting up the PDF, I did not check "Optimized for Fast Web Viewing," yet when I generated the PDF, it "Optimized for Fast Web Viewing." It seems that there is some preference somewhere that is overriding my selections. But where....?!
    I was able to generate a PDF from InDesign (without going through Distiller) and the printer was able to use the PDF.  I was taught to always use Distiller when submitting files to printers, and to "package" the files.  Is there some risk in sending files without using Distiller?
    In addition to the page size/orientation issue, Europe has different standards for color space and printers' ink also. If anyone could shed some light on how I should adapt to European standards, I would be grateful.
    I was disappointed that Adobe offered only paid support, although I purchased Adobe CS4 less than a year ago. For such an expensive
    product, I would think free support would be available for at a minimum one year.

    Yes, Preflight was looking for letter size and created a conflict with my page size/orientation selections in the document setup and print setup.
    No, this didn't resolve the problem keeping Distiller from making my PDF.
    Here is the message Distiller gave when it rejected the file:

    Does every criterion set in Preflight have to be fulfilled for Distiller to work?  How do I isolate the problem keeping the PDF from being created?

  • GIF and sticky page size

    I have scanned (from HP N6310) a paper to a .TIF image. Original is A4 and resolution, as set in scanning software 300dpi. Photoshop (CS5) reports (for the .TIF fiile) pixel dimension as 2574*3540 pixels, page size as 21.8 * 29.9 cm and resolution as 300 dpi. I "Save for web and devices" as a GIF file. When I now retrieve the .GIF image in Photoshop it reports same pixel dimension but page size 91*125 cm and resolution as 72 dpi.
    This is a problem because .JPG images do not tend to change dimension and when I use Adobe Acrobat  (V9) to combine .GIF and JPG file ino one PDF document, the pages show at different sizes which looks funny and is very impractical.
    I try do fix this; retrive the GIF file in Photoshop and change page size back to A4 (21*29 cm) and resolution back to 300 dpi and Ctrl-S or Save. Does not help. If I retrive the file again in Photoshop it is still/back to 91*125 cm and 72 dpi. What is going on and what can I do about it????
    It seems Photoshop is the main offender but if I had found a way to change page size of a PDF file when "in" Acrobat it had probably solved the problem too. I run Windows 7.

    Let me rephrase my problem. I scan documents that are a mixture of pages with text, photos and diagrams. Black and white, greyscale or color. If I scan to PDF in color I get huge file sizes, even after Acrobat "Optimize". So I scan to the different pages to TIF bw, gray or color. I then save (Photoshop - Save for Web adn devices) to a compressed file format , JPG or GIF (I also tried PNG and the result is similar) depending on what sort of pictures there are. The result is OK (good looking and small file size) and I am able to import all singel page files into one PDF document. The only problem is that Photoshop and/or Acrobat seem to have their own idea about individual "page sizes". So in the final PDF different pages have different sizes. The problem is with GIF that does dispaly the wrong size already in Photoshop - unchageable but also it seems Acrobat import differently depending on color or bw (file size?). The whole thing is a mess and I have not been able to systematically track all variation. The only setting I found that could help is Photoshop - image - image size but that is where I got thsoe strange results.

  • Oracle 10gR2 LARGE PAGE SIZE on Windows 2008 x64 SP2

    Hello Oracle Experts,
    What are the advantages of Large Page Size and how would I know when my DB will benefit from Large Page Sizes?
    My undeqrstanding is on Windows x64 – 8kb default page size – will now be 2 MB. Will this speed up accesses to buffer cache? If so is there a latch wait that I can monitor before vs. after to verify that large page size has improved performance?
    My Database server has 256GB RAM and SGA is set to 180GB. I am quite sure the overhead involved in maintaining a large number of 8kb allocations (as opposed to 2MB) must be high - how can i monitor this?
    I am planning to follow the procedure here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B13831_01/ap_64bit.htm#CHDGFJJD
    The DB is for SAP on a 8CPU/48 core IBM x3950. For some reason SAP documentation does not mention anything about this registry setting or even if Large Page Size is supported in the SAP world.
    Part 2 : I notice that more recent Oracle patch sets (example 25) turn NUMA OFF by default. Why is this and what is the impact of disabling NUMA on a system like x3950 (which is a NUMA based server)?
    My understanding is Oracle would no longer know that some memory is Local (and therefore fast) and some memory is Remote (therefore slow). Overall I am guessing this could cause a real performance issue on this DB.
    -points for detailed reply!
    thanks a lot -

    Hello
    Thanks for your reply. I am very interested to hear further about the limitations of Windows 2008 and the benefits of Oracle Linux.
    Generally we find that Windows 2008 has been pretty good, a big improvement over Windows 2003 (bluescreens don't occur ever etc)
    Can you advise further about Large Page Size for the buffer cache? I assume this applies on both Windows and Linux (I am guessing there is a similiar parameter for 10gR2 on Linux).
    SAP have not yet fully supported Oracle 11g so this is why 11g has not made it into the SAP world yet.
    Can you also please advise about NUMA? regardless of whether we run Linux or Windows this setting needs to be considered.
    Thanks

  • Large page sizes on Solaris 9

    I am trying (and failing) to utilize large page sizes on a Solaris 9 machine.
    # uname -a
    SunOS machinename.lucent.com 5.9 Generic_112233-11 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-1000

    and
    "Taming Your Emu to Improve Application Performance (February 2004)"

    # pagesize -a
    8192

    I've written a very simple program:
    main()
    int sz = 10*1024*1024;
    int x = (int)malloc(sz);
    print_info((void**)&x, 1);
    while (1) {
    int i = 0;
    while (i < (sz/sizeof(int))) {
    x[i++]++;
    I run it specifying a 4M heap size:
    # ppgsz -o heap=4M ./malloc_and_sleep
    address 0x21260 is backed by physical page 0x300f5260 of size 8192
    pmap also shows it has an 8K page:

    (The last 2 lines above show about 10M of heap, with a pgsz of 8K.)
    I'm running this as root.
    In addition to the ppgsz approach, I have also tried using memcntl and mmap'ing ANON memory (and others). Memcntl gives an error for 2MB page sizes, but reports success with a 4MB page size - but still, pmap reports the memcntl'd memory as using an 8K page size.

  • Image Capture and Preview: bad PDF page size

    When scanning to a PDF document with Image Capture, the resulting PDF always has an enormous page size. For example, a 3"x3" image scanned at 300dpi will appear as a 12.5"x12.5" page in the PDF. Scanning at 72dpi will create the appropriate size page, but the file is (of course) unsuitable for printing due to the low resolution. It's as if Image Capture (or the PDF creation routine) assumes the image is 72dpi even if it was scanned higher than that.
    Similar behavior can be seen in the Preview app. Use the following steps to reproduce:
    1. Open a decent quality image from a digital camera.
    2. Choose Tools Menu -> Adjust Size...
    3. Be sure both "Scale proportionally" and "Resample image" are selected.
    4. Change the Resolution to 300 pixels/inch, change the Width to 3 inches and click OK.
    5. Choose File Menu -> Save As...
    6. Change the format to PDF, choose a location and file name to your liking, and click Save
    7. Open the new document in Preview and check the page size (Tools Menu -> Inspector)
    Inexplicably, the page size is now 12.5 inches wide. I understand what it's doing, but I don't know why. The math is simple. Take the 3x3 inch example above: 3in * 300ppi = 900px / 72ppi = 12.5in
    I feel it's very bad form for the software to assume you always work in "screen resolution" (72dpi). The PDFs the software makes is next to useless for archival purposes because of the incorrect size markings.
    Anyone know of an alternative application to scan to PDF docs? The scanner's TWAIN software is not an option because it's PPC and won't run under Rosetta. How about an application that creates PDF documents from image files (besides Acrobat)? Best would be a way to fix the behavior or Apple's software.
    Thanks in advance.

    I have the same problem long ago. Apple is not doing anything to fix this problem

  • Change Page Size of a Form

    I created a form in Adobe Acrobat Pro from a spreadsheet that I had printed to PDF. However, the PDF was in a landspace orientation rather than a portrait orientation. Does anyone know how I can change the page size and orientation of the form. I tried opening it importing it into LifeCycle Designer, but it messes up my java script calculations. If I print it to another PDF it no longer remains a fillable form.

    You really need to go back to your spreadsheet program and properly orient it there. Consider a PDF only a piece of paper that you created. You might be able to create the new PDF and then use replaces pages in the old PDF to keep the form fields. This last step is the typical process to keep the form fields. You will probably still have to move the fields. I am just not sure if the orientation and such will be kept with the replace pages, but that is where I would start. You could also copy the fields from one PDF to the other.
