CS4 - Additional File Formats and Effects Installation

We are operating in a networked environment and are experiencing trouble with After Effects 9 (CS4). Frequently AE wants to connect to the Web and download/install additional file formats and effects. The "student user" accounts do not allow this and the process fails. Some AE projects REQUIRE these additional components, so as we encounter this problem we log on as a local administrator and allow the application to update these components.
Is there a way to make these components part of our standard software library, so the next time we re-image a lab everything is in place? These additional components do not seem to be included in the standard Adobe Updater. Or perhaps there are a few directories which just need an adjustment to their NTFS permissions?
I haven't seen anything on the Web about this, nor in these forums. Has anyone else encountered this while in a networked enviornment? Solutions?
Thanks...

Lets assume that the correct (English) serial was entered during installation, and that there were no inconsistencies with language options...etc. At what point do those 3rd party codecs and plug-ins get installed? After first launching the product, or only when an AE project requires additional components?
I just did a fresh install on a new machine and never saw any dialogue box or alert about AE downloading and installing anything "extra". We don't set up any of our systems for multi-lingual use, and I'm quite certain another language was not specified during the install. I'll double check, but it would be useful to know what the trigger is for checking for these additional components, and if I can force it to happen on the machine I'm setting up as my master.
Thanks...

  • After Effects was unable to install additional file formats and effects

... Please reinstall from the original installer with a serial number."
The title and first line of this post are the error I receive when I open After Effects CS3. All of the CC effects are missing, as well as content for Encore, which is also part of Master Collection (the suite I have), so it must be an Master Collection error. Does anyone know where I can get the addtional content and the installer?

The cached files would be in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers in one of the directories with the funny cryptic numbers as their name. Since the archives are protected by the install key, you will have no way to extract the files manually, though. I tend to think that it is indeed the MC trial that is giving you troubles. Did you run the CS4 Clean Script when you uninstalled it? If not, that might explain it, even more so when the trial timed out. Certain features will then be locked forever after, unfortunately. Only uninstalling, running the clean script and then reinstalling with the serial will give you the full features then. Also download the manual update packages for After Effects, Premiere Pro, Encore and Adobe Media Encoder from the Download section. Installing those may also fix that problem since it should make the apps install additional MPEG support. As another option, you might try to create a new user account with administrator rights and launch AE. Sometimes this also works, since it creates a new user branch in your registry and just ignores existing info for some stuff which may make the post-install install kick in and finish its work.

  • Additional File Formats and Plugins popup

I have deleted the effects folder in Plug-ins directory, and now, every time i start After Effects annoying message box pops up, saying it has attempted to install these plugins and failed (because i've canceled it )
Is there a way to get rid of the message (without AE attempting to download additional stuff)
    Many thanks in advance
    mike

    hey, your answer is working,
when developing plugins for AE (i do!) you start/exit it quite often, it
does makes the difference - if you dont believe me just start AE with a
debugger and see how much time it takes to load all of them. Sure one
plugin does it quite quickly, but that there are hundreds of them!!!
sure, your metaphor is quite cool, but i would instead consider scraping
molluscs from the bottom of the (speed) boat.

No. Just let it finish the install. And it's not downloading anything, it's just restoring the default configuration from the installer backup. Why anyone would want to delete the whole effects folder is beyond me, anyway. This is like screwing out the lightbulbs in a room with no windows to conserve electricity on the chance that someone might actually accidentally turn them on... It's just not smart. As long as you don't use them, none of that gets in teh way, so there is no need to remove anything.

  • Additional file formats?

Can you add additional file formats in SB CS5?
Comparing SB and Audition 3 and Audition has way more [and in sometimes useful] filer formats to import or export. I remembering mp3Pro in CoolEdit. And it's in Audition but not SB. why? Adobe doesn't want to pay for the licensing to whoever owns the rights?
Tried SB out and it doesn't give you much in options [compared to Audition or CE] when saving. Example [again] for the mp3 format, aside from mp3Pro, CBR, VBR, joint stereo, etc.

Latest Lithroom 5.6 does not recognize my .cr2 raw file format and Windows 7 it asociates with my older raw plug in in Ps CS5.5. I am not able to change default program for .cr2 in the properties pannel...
every new released update of Lr from v 5.2 changed somethin in my Windows 7 Professional settings. I am stucked. Can somebody help me please? Many thanks. Andrej

    Hi Jim,
yes after I imported my .cr2 raw files into new catalog it started to work. Windows 7 still does not recognize them but I can edit them as you said within the Lr5.6 and then export them into .psd or .dng files...as needed.
I bought Lr5 only because I got present - my new camera Cannon 70D and because my older Photoshop CS5.5 raw plugin does not recognize. cr2 files.
    Many thanks for your help.

  • Preview file format and codec.

    Hello yall
    How are you guys?
So When I open Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and make a new sequence, in the General Tab at the bottom, there is a Preview File Format and Codec.
and they are both set up as MPEG I-Format, How do I change this?
Also in the sequence preset, I am using HDV 720p25, to make the screen size 1280 by 720.
If you have trouble understanding the above please ask for more information.

when i export and select match sequence settings it goes to the mpeg I-frame and i cannot open it
Changing the preview codec will not change this. Also, don't use Match Sequence Settings. It's not what you want to do, despite it seeming to be the easy solution.
i am uploading to youtube. so i have to make the dimensions 1280x720
In that case, you'll get decent results by selecting H.264 as your export format, and then choose the YouTube HD preset.

  • Virus has changed all the office file format and cant open those file

    Hello
Recently I attacked by some new virus which is changed my all the office document files and added a extra extension after the office file extension. If I manually change the infected file extension to orginal file format and try open it shows error message.
Although having System Center Endpoint Protection how could it would be the affected by the virus ?
Now please suggest me how to recover the those files to orginal file format or recover MS office file???
    Thanks

    Hi,
Anti-virus solutions are necessary to protect your system but it can never be a 100% secure.
Once Office files are damaged by the viruses, we can't guarantee the files can still be recovered.
Anyway, you can still try the "Open and Repair" feature in Word to repair the file.
Take Word 2013 for example, click FILE -> Open -> Browse to the file location -> Select the document -> Find the "Open" button, click the "Open and Repair" button from the drop list. Check if this can repair the document.

  • LabVIEW 2015 - Fast File Format and PlugIn Architecture

In LabVIEW 2015 the new "fast file format" was introduced:
"Improving Load Time for LabVIEW-Built Applications and Shared Libraries.
You can build stand-alone applications (EXE) and DLLs that load faster by using the fast file format in LabVIEW. <...> When you enable the fast file format, LabVIEW does not use the Application Builder object cache"
The question about PlugIn architecture, when lot of SubVIs called dynamically (for example, from external LLBs) from relative small core application. What I observed is - the size of the executable with this option was significantly reduced (roughly twice) and the core application itself starts faster, but PlugIns load time is the same regardless from this option (I understand why - when application fully loaded then Dynamic calls just "normal" LabVIEW code and therefore this option takes no effect). Unfortunately in code distribution build spec (as well as in packed libraries) this option is not available.
Is it possible to get "fast" application also for PlugIn-based architecture and get LLBs or packed libraries in "fast file format"? Can someone explain, what means "LabVIEW does not use the Application Builder object cache" and how this "fast load" mechanism technically working?
    Thank you in advance,
    Andrey.

Hey Andrey!  It's good to see that you guys have been getting some good mileage out of this project.  I'll go through your questions in order ...
    1) These optimization are actually always enabled by default for packed project libraries. In fact, the load time benefits for packed libraries should generally be better than what you observe for .EXEs and .DLLs!
    2) The app builder cache is something that is enabled for EXEs and DLLs that works to cache the results of previous compiles when the source has not been updated.  It is somewhat analogous to the .obj object files generated by a C++ compiler.
    3) I won't get into too many nitty gritty details but the gist of it is... LabVIEWs various non optimized file formats are treated somewhat similarly to the way that we treat 'loose' VIs. In a DLL/EXE/LVLibp we know at build time what the contents and dependencies of a given built binary are going to be.  With this knowledge we can go ahead and construct something that is more similar to a statically linked PE or ELF file (clearly we're not using either of those) while the analogy is not 100% perfect it's the best I can do without going into a couple pages worth of description   In addition to these basic file format changes we did a large amount of work on implementing a new loader which is able to take advantage of the large amounts of precomputed file data that is now included in the format which enabled us to cut a lot of corners that were there previously.

  • Multiple file formats and stacking

Like many on this forum I need to keep track of the original RAW and other formats of the same file. This is for several reasons:
    1. I have a large number of already converted RAW files into JPG and TIFF files, which I want to manage in the LR library.
    2. As I go forward in time, I want to keep my RAW files, with the associated metadata edits and an exported JPG or TIFF copy, which is used by other programs and sent to others on short notice. I want the LR library to manage these as well. I do not want to have to go through an LR export process every time I want to use a JPG or TIFF in another application.
At present, if I rename the JPG and TIFF files (ie filename_LR.JPG) then I can import them into the same folder. However, the auto-stack feature does not work for a capture time between stacks of zero seconds, even though the capture time is the same. The program logic appears to be (greater than 0) where it should be (greater than or equals 0). If I set the capture time between stacks to 1 second then I get multiple different photos in the stack when there is less than 1 second between captures.
LR team - please give this some thought. I am confident you can come up with an elegant solution to the multiple file copies in the same or diferent formats, and a grouping mechanism, preferably in addition to the stacking feature (the stacking feature appears to really be meant to group similar photos). This feature should work in conjunction with import. The grouping of multiple file versions at the same capture time should also work across folders, so that LR does not impose upon existing file management structures.
    Thanks
    Rory

  • Highlight File Format and PDF Documents with Chinese and English characters

I'm a developer working on an application that makes use of the Highlight File Format / external highlight server capabilities of Adobe Reader.
The highlighting worked correctly until we started to introduce pdf documents that were scanned to recognize Chinese in addition to English.
The xml file seems to have the correct values in it. For example, if the 10 characters to highlight are at position 41 on the first page. The "xml" file has the <loc pg=0 pos=41 len=10>.
If the document is scanned for English only, it works fine. That is, the highlight starts at character 41. If the same document is scanned for Chinese and English, the highlight starts at character 22.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Do you know a solution?

    Hi,
I don't know about BIP and the specifics of your context, but here are some general answers for the XLIFF format:
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'utf-8'?>
Can we change encoding to 'ISO-8859-1' as soon as we convert the file format ?If you also save the file to ISO-8859-1 as well yes. But you can do this only for languages supported by Latin-1. It makes sense to keep the files in UTF-8.
A-2) he section <header><skl><internal-file> contains a huge string
which seeem to be binary ... What is this ? can we delete it ?That's likely to be the skeleton file. The data used to rebuild the original format after translation.
Most likely it should stay there.
A-3) Can we have one XLF file with muliple <file> sections (one per language to translate to ) ?
This can be very useful for us to manage one only translation file per report template.Yes but no: yves you can have several <file> elements in an XLIFF document, but no: they must be for the same language pair. XLIFF is designed to work with bi-lingual files, not multi-lingual files.
A-4) the most important section for translation is included in the <trans-unit> tag .
Each one has a distinct id like ""49e41f8f" ... Can we replace this by a more meaningfull value ?Those id attributes are used by the filter to merge back the data after translation. You should preserve them.
A-5) the language format is like "en-US" (language code + territory code).
Is it case sensitive ? No it is not case-sensitive (en-us == en-US). The values of xml:lang are not case sensitive (unlike other XML attribute values).
en-US is just the recommended notation.
    The XLIFF specification are here:
    http://docs.oasis-open.org/xliff/xliff-core/xliff-core.html
    Hope this helps,

  • File adapter: Additional files option and Archive option

    Hi all!
I configure file adapter to take file with two additional files. Additional files is optional. Also I configure to processing mode to archive.
So when I put all three files in folder everything works fine - all files are archived.
Problems begins when I put not all additional files for example:
    1) when I put one main file and the <b>FIRST</b> additional file, files are archived, in communication channel monitoring i see error in message java.lang.NullPointerException, but message with payload transfers to IE successful.
    2) when I put one main file and the <b>SECOND</b> additional file, the main file archived, the SECOND  file <b>NOT</b> archived and stayed in source directory. In CC monitoring I see error message java.lang.NullPointerException, but message with payload transfers to IE successful.
Please provide me with some solution, because I need to archive all files.
    Maxim.

in file sender CC, thr is option to archive and error file store also..
1)under processing mode - archive.. give the path thr..
    2) To archive source files where a permanent error occurred during processing, select Archive Faulty Source Files

  • Combination file format and filter plug-in?

I am working with a file format plug-in. After reading in an image, I want to apply a filter to it. Is it possible to apply the filter from within the file format plug-in?
Alternatively, is there a means by which one plug-in can start another plug-in?

You will need to control this all via an automation plug-in. You will need three plug-ins.
    1. The automation plug-in (AMP) will be a listener plug-in and 'listen' for eventOpen with your file format as the class. These needs to happen at Photoshop launch. (See Listener example)
    2. User will open your file and your file format plug-in will run.
    3. Your AMP will get called with the 'eventOpen' 'classMyPlugIn' or whatever you set up.
    4. AMP will now call your filter plug-in.

  • Exporting pdfs to word and excel file formats  and translating

Hello, I am new to this forum and came here because I am a professional translator. Although we should be given documents in their original file format, in the real world translators have to convert pdfs such as manuals or annual reports into word or excel files. Given the fact we often work for agencies, and/or do not work directly with the people who created the original files inthe first place, with the best will in the world we normally have to make do with converting the pdf file, or lose the job.
I would like advice on the best way to learn more about  pdf to word and excel conversion and ways of keeping formatting when it is helpful and removing what is not.
The general problem is (well the problem is really ignorance on my part!) of course getting the "look and feel" similar in the converted document and knowing more about manipulating the formating and elements which get converted.
Any help or pointers to online tutorials whether multimedia or text much appreciated.
    David Hardisty (david1610)

Thank you Lori, this is so clear! I am a teacher as well and there are clear presentations and wonderfully clear presentations and this is in the latter category.
A tiny suggestion. You would not believe how many pdf files exported to word I have received that are Portuguese content and the sender has not set the language to Portuguese! So in your text entry you might want to mention the language setting. I know it is obvious, but as we know sometimes we cannot see the obvious!
I will need to look far more carefully at the final things in your video.
Are there any special considerations for exporting pdf files as Excel? My original doubt was I had to translate some accounting documents. 95% of the document was numbers which did not changing (except for commas to periods and vice versa due to different separator conventions). I did not now how to just select e.g. the vertical column with text. I will go back and try with this suggestion because in this case the look and feel of the numbers was important and the precise fonts etc. seemed to cause problems. But now I am getting out of my depth!
    Thank you again!

  • File formats and locations

Hi I am a new mac user in the process of transferring data from a PC to my new macbook. I have transferred my windows folders containing photos to the "pictures" folder on my mac. To view these in iphoto I need to import photos to iphoto however this creates some questions, especially as I still want to be able to backup these photos onto an external hard drive to view on my PC. My main questions are:
    1) Where does iphoto save imported photos? Does it create a new file or reference the existing one? (Am concerned that I will create 2 copies of everything and waste hard drive space.
2)What file format does it use. My photos are all jpegs. Do they remain in this format?
    3) Going forward, when I import directly from my camera memory card, can I get iphoto to file the photos in the folers that I want to then export back to my PC?
Sorry for all the questions just getting to grips with my new world.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. By default iPhoto copies the original image file into it's library package as jpgs. If you need a copy of the photos on an external HD that your PC can access then your workflow should be as follows:
1 - upload from the camera to a folder on the desktop using Image Capture.
2 - name the folder so as to identify the contents. I use the date and a brief description of the shoot: 07/27/09-Baseball camp.
3 - import the folder into iPhoto which will give you an Event with the same title: 07/27/09-Baseball camp,
4 - copy the folder from your desktop to the external HD that is formatted so PCs can access it.
5 - delete the folder from the desktop.
This will give you two copies of the photos: one in the iPhoto library and the other on the external PC formatted hard drive. Since iPhoto is not a cross platform application that's how your workflow will have to be in order to do what you want.
FWIW it's safest to upload to a folder on the Desktop because you can verify that the files have been successfully copied to your Mac before reformatting the memory card with the camera. I use a card reader to upload from my camera's memory card. Safer and usually faster that direct from the camera.
