CS4 "Already in use cannot delete" over network problem

Hello,
I am having a problem with a Mac on OS X not being able to open or delete any .ai files over a network on a Dell Server running Windows Server 2008. If we try to open or delete the file I get an error message "Already in use cannot delete". Also, I get a "cannot complete copy" error too. Whats weird is that both machines can see each other over the network and the Mac can read and write to all other files over the network. The server does not have anything adobe products installed at all. There is no other machine on the network that is causing these files to be in use. I have checked when the backups are done using Windows Server 2008 Backup and they are finished before anyone gets into the office, so I dont believe its the Backup program holding the files hostage. I have read in some areas that this may be a known flaw with NTFS formatting over a network, but im not sold on that idea yet.
Any and all suggestions would be as useful to me as insulin right about now.

Sorry one last thing. I can delete the files on the Server itself.

Address already in use: Cannot bind

Hi all. I have a desktop app that sends commands and receives responses from a network appliance.
All commands and responses work fine except one - trying to use RTPSocketPlayer on port 49154.
The normal command and response UDP port is 49152. Streaming audio should come in on port 49154.
I am closing and disconnecting the socket on 49152 after every command and response.
But when I try to invoke the RTPSocketPlayer and bind port 49154 to my local IP, I get the
Address already in use: Cannot bind error.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Ah OK, I get it. Change the InitSocket() method thus:
sock = new DatagramSocket(null);
sock.setReuseAddress(true);
sock.bind(new InetSocketAddress(addr, sockPort));but also have a look at netstat -an to see who else is on that port and whether that's OK.

Files deleted over network

Hi, some of users over the network accidentally deleted a folder from XServe, and he asked if it can be recovered, when someone deletes a file/folder over network OSX reports that "the item will be deleted immediately", is this true? it wont going to be stored in some "Network Trash Folder"? or ".Trashes"? or "Temporary Items"??
And if it really wont be recovered, is there a way to prevent this in the future? like to tell OSX Server to put all the files/folders deleted over network to be stored in a special folder for a certain time to prevent loosing important files accidentally or by other users??

ICloud in use cannot delete?

Try to delete icloud from old iPhone and get message in use cannot delete. How do I delete so I can back up mu new iPhone?

If you mean you are trying to delete the iCloud backup of your old phone and it says it's currently in use, this should clear up on its on after 3-5 days. Give it a few days and try again.

Time machine backup says latest bacup already in use, cannot complete backup

I had to close off my Imac by switching it off, because it hung. Since then the hourly incremental backups fail. I get the message "The backup on the time machine is already in use". I can't erase my time machine, because it doesn't show up as an external drive in the disk utility.
Anyone who has a solution?

First, restart the Time Capsule by disconnecting the power adapter and reconnecting it. If other devices on the network can see it, you can skip this step.
From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
Click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the window and authenticate to unlock the settings, if necessary. Click the Advanced button, then select the TCP/IP tab in the sheet that drops down. Click Renew DHCP lease.
Try again to back up.
If you still can't, open the Time Machine preference pane and delete the TC from the list of backup destinations. You may have to unlock the settings by clicking the lock icon in order to do this. Then add it back.

Single account on imac can see but cannot connect over network

This one is driving me crazy:
As of this morning I cannot connect to other computers in our network. Using other accounts on the same imac is no problem, but mine simply refuses.
I can see the rest of the network, connect to the internet, print, etc., but if I try to actually connect to another machine I get the error that it cannot find the original item (the error is in Dutch so I cannot give the litteral version)
Network, firewall and sharing settings seem to be the same as the other, working, accounts as far as I can tell.

OK, we found the problem. my permissions were screwed up...

Using a disc over network to use for Time Machine?

I've been using an external HD as my disc image for Time Machine. Recently, both of my USB ports failed due to a juggling accident with cables connected to the ports. I'd like to send my computer for repair, but'd feel safer if I could backup before that.
Through file sharing and an ethernet cable I'm connecting to my old mac and can see the my HD for Time Machine, but how do I configure Time Machine to use that disc?

If you are connected to the other Mac via network, you should be able to see the external hard drive on that Mac.

Canon printer cannot communicate over network when plugged into time capsule

I have just bought a new canon ix6550 and it will print fine when connected to my macbook pro but when i try to print when it is plugged into the timecapsule it will not communicate and I keep getting the error "Unable to communicate with the printer at this time". I have tried re installing the driver and can see the printer fine in airport utility.
Any help would be appreciated as I am getting seriuosly stressed out with it! Haha!

Are you connecting the Canon printer to the USB port on the Time Capsule?
If yes, did you also install the printer again using System Preferences > Print and Fax at the Time Capsule location?
If yes, are you selecting the correct Time Capsule location when you look at the print dialog to print?

Using OracleVM in VMWare - Network problem

Hi,
I'm desperately trying to install OracleVM in VMware workstation - just for testing purposes of course. However I simply cannot connect to the VM manager once it has installed...
When the installation is complete, it says to connect to .... go to http://127.0.0.1/em. Obviously this is wrong as it is the address of the local machine relative to itself. I have installed OracleVM server & manager 7 times now attempting to try different networking options to get it working - but no luck.
I currently have OracleVM Server & Manager installed inside a VMware VM. Networking is set to NAT (but have also tried Bridged and host-only). ifconfig in client gives this:

When using bridged, Oracle VM server is at least able to ping the outside world (pinged google to test), however in NAT mode this fails too.
Have already tried doing a ifup eth0 - but no luck here either.

Sharing external drive over network - problem

Hey guys,
I searched the forum, but nothing posted to other threads helped.
I want to share a LaCie external USB drive over my network. It consists of two macs: a mac mini and a macbook running OSX 10.4.9.
The external drive is formated in FAT32. I enabled sharing in the system pref. but I don't see it when trying to connect. I installed SharePoints and shared it from there, still nothing. I tried connecting using the "afp://..:" stuff, but I get an error message, saying I cannot connect.
Got some ideas?

File Transfer Over Network Problem since 10.4.9 Update

Since the update I've had this problem. Here's a typical operation:
In a finder window, from my PowerMac G5, I click on Network and mount a disk from another Mac on the Network (Intel Mac Mini). I navigate to that mounted disk and drag a 1.5GB file from it to a directory on my G5.
This used to take a couple of minutes before the update. Now it takes over 4 hours! My network looks like this:
Intel mac Mini (10.4.9) hard-wired to new Airport Extreme 802.11n
PowerMac G5 (10.4.9) hard-wired to new Airport Extreme 802.11n
Pwerbook (10.4.8) Wi-Fied to new Airport Extreme 802.11n
I don't understand why this is happening or how to correct this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I do this operation frequently and 4+ hours is totally unacceptable.

I found out that about the same time as the update one of my five external hard drives started going south on me. When it got to the point of no return where it wouldn't mount any more I took it off the Mac. The network is running fast and fine now. For some reason the drive was slowing everything up. Weird.

Media Managing over network problems

I am encountering a problem with FCP6 of when I try to media manage a project to network drive, I frequently get an error that there is not enough drive space when there is plenty, eg I am copying about 6 Gigs at a time to drives that have more than 1 TB free!! It happens on random clips, you can just select skip clip and it will keep copying some more then will just stop again with the same error. Copying via finder works but not within FCP. Any one got answers? Thanks!

Drives formated to macos extended. Files are genereally under 2gig. I get the problem when moving a whole project or when consolidating a sequence with no handles. The way around it atm is to Media manage to a local drive and then copy it over using finder.

Sharing over network problems

hey everyone, trying to share all my music, movies, photos over a network from my imacC2D (running tiger) with my new mpb. I can only see the mbp's hard drive over the network and NOT the imac's which is where all the goods are at. here's what i did:
personal file sharing is enabled on both computers.
i click on Go > Connect to server > Browse, and from here is where it gets grey... I only see the mbp's harddrive (server) and not the imacs. What do i need to do on the imac in order to get its contents off it? I guess i could always use migration assistant but i dont have a firewire cable and im too lazy to go get one : P

ISight, viewing over network problem....

I am trying out a piece of software called "On Air" by Equinox which allows one to view all iSight/Webcam cameras attached to your network. The software is installed on my MacBook (which of course has a built in iSight). I have another iSight attached to my iMac. Supposedly, if your computers are networked together, you can see all cameras attached to the network. I realize that probably no one here will know of this software...however, how does one assure that their iSight is attached and working through their network? Both iSights work perfect independently through iChat. Thanks.

Believe you were in control of multi video sources, from Web and DV cams to IP cameras and the iSight, which you could view, record and publish with a click of a button. Well, On Air does all this and more!
This implies the other cameras have to be IP cameras. I.E. They are broadcasting that they are there.
The page about the network cams does not seem to make it any clearer.
The Support page might as well say "send your info anywhere but here as there is no-one at this desk even though the phone is red"
This would imply other software that iChat to make a cameras appear on line. (local net)
Just my first slant on it.
