CS4 and CS6

Can I have more than one version on my computer at the same time...like CS4 and CS6?

Could someone tell me if I have my question in the wrong place...sorry if I do!

  • CS4 and CS6 on the same pc?

I cannot get cs4 and cs6 to work together on the same PC.  Can they work together?

I actually have CS2, CS4 and CS6 all installed on the same computer. CS6 has never worked for more than 2 or 3 minutes. I can open the program, do a few things, then I get an error stating that the program has stopped working. Win 7 tries to find a  “fix” for the problem, but nothing is found. When you close that dialogue box, the entire program closes.  CS4 has been working up until a week ago (no changes were made to computer other than standard updates-no new software installed.) Now CS4 won’t even load, immediately comes up with This Program Has Stopped Working, then Win7 tries to resolve the problem. Nothing…close dialogue box and entire program closes.
I am trying to figure out what the conflict is, why CS4 just started having problems, and how to resolve all of them.
    Thanks for your help.

  • What is the difference in illustrator CS4 and CS6 ?

I have illustrator CS4, it is worth upgrading it to CS6 ? If 90% features are same then i won't upgrade it, and if there are some good addition then i will think about upgrading it to CS6.
    Help please.

Here you can find informations about what´s new in Illustrator CS4, CS5 and CS6: http://www.adobe.com/products/illustrator/features.html
The field in the top of the page lets you see news for CS4 users like you.
    Best Regards

  • CS4 and CS6 design views

When viewing the same index file I see significant differences between the design views of Dreamweaver CS4  and Dreamweaver CS6. The index file was created in CS5. My CS4  displays it correctly while CS6 design view is not even close. The live views are correct with both.

Here is the original .php doc. (Does not contain any php because that was the exercise to insert it).

  • Hi there, i want to buy a registered version of PS CS4 (and an Upgrade to CS6)from a private Person...is there any Possibility to check if the Adobe ID,Licence,User is a real person...or a fake before buying it? Thanks for helping!

    Hi,
just got an offer from a private Person, who owns a boxed Version of Photoshop CS4 (DVD) and an Upgrade from CS4 to CS6....he told me that he can transfer the current license to me... now there's one important question for me...
Is there any possibility to check his Adobe-ID (which he already told me) if it's the same adress, name, etc. as he told me...
or if there is an registered Version of PS CS4 owned by this Adobe-ID?
Just like to check if he's a real person or a fake...don't want to buy any stolen or illegal software...or beeing punked after paying the money...
Thank you very much for helping me! :-)
    Chriss

Old versions of Photoshop are not marketed by Adobe. Only CS5 can be upgraded to CS6.  There are many scams on the web if you find a cheap copy of Photoshop out there its most likely a scam... Be careful.....

  • Is it possible for the Adobe to put video instructions on these following things as my professor works on CS4 and I have CS6,it is really confusing for me to follow the disparitie between the two.

    Modifying the header
    Changing page background color
    Changing sidebars in CSS
Adding/changing a Spry link's background and hover colors in navbar
    Formatting headers in split view
Deleting placeholder copy in the content container
Inserting a video in a table
    Changing table background color
Formatting text in the content container
    Format hyperlinks in CSS
Insert page anchors and link to them with navbar hyperlinks
Enter text in footer with a hyperlink
    Insert and format headers
Use of a color picker (Color Cop)

Use CS6 Help (F1).  Those are the most up to date articles for your product version.
    <Changing page background color>
We've already told you how to do that with CSS code.
<Deleting placeholder copy in the content container>
Placeholders are deprecated.  Adobe removed them.
    <Inserting a video in a table>
    Insert > Media > HTML5 Video
<Insert page anchors and link to them with navbar hyperlinks>
Named anchors are deprecated in HTML.  Adobe removed them from DW.  Use Div IDs instead.
Why are you taking a course that teaches outdated methods in CS4 which is no longer supported?

  • Photoshop CS4, CS5 and CS6

I've just upgraded to Photoshop CS6. I still have applications for CS4 and CS5. This includes Bridge, Device Central, Extendscript Toolkit, and Extention Manager. Each version has one.
Can I get rid of all relating to CS4 and CS5 now that I'm using CS6?  Any downsides?
I also have some plugin programs like the Topaz Suite and now Perfect Photosuite 7. How do I migrate them into CS6?
Thanks for any suggestions and help.
    Bob Collins

Generally, you would have got the option to remove the old versions.  However, you can uninstall the old versions but you should do it from Windows Add/Remove modules in the Control Panel so that it doesn't remove the common files from your machine.
If you are not constrained by disk space then the best thing is to leave the old programs on the system until you are familiar with the new features of the upgraded program.
I have renmoved the old programs from my Windows 7 because I wasn't using them.  These days I use "Corel Paintshop Pro X5" and "Corel Draw Graphics Suite X6".
Photoshop is for something I need to test for my colleagues who are not familiar with certain features in Corel so I tell them how to do it in PS CS6.
    Hope this helps.

    Mac OS 10.8.5
None of these issues are causing the error in DW CS6. We have double checked all of them and we have everything exactly right. Also I have exactly the same SiteSetup in DW CS4 and that works perfectly well. Could there must be factor in 6 that didn't exist in 4? Something that isnt in the SiteSetup but in some hidden dialog box ?
I can also upload to my host using Fetch, a third party FTP. And as I said DW CS4 works fine. So the problem is not with my host, its with DW CS6 in particular.

Thank you Jon, that fixed it perfectly. You have saved me from going crazy. The only difference I see now is in "Server Name" it changed what I had entered (my ftp address) to "Remote Server"; which seems odd -- but it works!   Although I know there maybe also some other dialog box I have never seen
Of course I saw that menu item "Import"  and but I thought thats obviously not for me: "Why would I want to import an entire website?". I did not however see "Export the selected site" for thats only a tiny icon in the footer. However I would have thought the same:  "Why would I want to export my entire website?".
An observation: I've seen this problem in a lot of Adobe software, the menu-names of items are  obscure, non descriptive. What would be better would be for the menu names or popups to say "Export Site Setup settings" and "Import Site Setup settings"

  • Have CS4 on Macbook, getting new iMac (Incl Yosemite). Ditch CS4 and go CS6?

    Hi
My MacBook pro is on its last legs. Investing in an Imac with Yosemite. Given issues with CS4 and the new OS, whats my best and must unbuggy approach? Bite the bullet and go CS6? Are parts of CS4 ok with Yosemite eg Photoshop? Would just like the best option for a smooth transition.
    Much appreciated

for a smooth transition you should subscribe to cc.

You can keep your old versions along side CS6.  You might want to test CS6 before you uninstall anything else.

  • Warning CS4 CS5 and CS6 Photoshop Action Users

Adobe introduce the Adjustment Panel in CS4 and included two option that you should NEVER CHANGE from their default setting.  For if either or both are change from their default settings some actions that add adjustment layers will fail to work properly. They may or may not produce error pop-ups.
I have been trying to get this fixed for a couple of years now.  The other day I received an e-mail from an Adobe programmer informing me that he had been assigned the task to fix the problems I've been having.  He included information he was considering.  It was clear he did not fully understand the problems and that keeping one of the options would make it impossible to maintain compatibility with previous versions of Photoshop.  I wrote two e-mails explaining the problems and a third detailing what the problems I saw with what was proposing.  He wrote back the all he wanted to do was to work on part of the problem not the whole problem. I wrote a fourth note but Adobe is back is stealth mode.
The two options in the Adjustment Panel fly-out menu are:
"Add Layer Mask by Default" checked by default.  This is how Photoshop always worked prior to CS4 there was never an option not to add one so nothing was ever recorded whether or not a layer mask was to be added they always were.  Changing this will make Photoshop not backward compatible.
"Clip to Layer" not checked by default.  There has always been an option to clip adjustment layers to the previous layer. So when the option is used the action recorder records the option "With Clipping Mask" in the make adjustment layer step.  When the Adjustment Layer is not clipped the option "with Clipping Mask" is not recorded. In the past these recordings played back correctly and still do if the Adjustment Panel fly-out option "Clip to Layer" is not checked.  However if Adjustment Panel option is checked even though is was nit when the action was recorded for the option "With Clipping Mas" is not recorded Photoshop clips the layer because of the Adjustment Panel current Option setting. That could be fixed. The current option setting has no meaning in this context in fact the Adjustment panel may not have even been used to recode the Make Adjustment Layer step.
Here is a link to a simple action recorded in CS6. It opens a new default size document add an Levels Adjustment Layer deletes the layer mask and then clips the adjustment layer to the previous layer.  The Action will play correctly in all versions of Photoshop prior to cs4.  It will fail in CS4, CS5 and CS6 if either or both of the Adjustments Panel fly-out options are changed from their default setting.  http://www.mouseprints.net/old/dpr/CS6AdjLayer.atn

  • After Effects CS4 and AME CS6

I have AE cs4 and am needing to export to windows media player.  When I choose that option in AE I get a crash error <5188> <ae.blitpipe> <2> rect t:39.000000 l:15.000000 w:1213.000000 h:768.000000
I have the final video as an avi and tried to use AME cs6 to encode it but do not have the option like others have mentioned on here.  Does AE cs4 and AME cs6 not work together?  I'm running windows XP 64 and I am not in a position to purchase Premier and my boss would rather not upgrade my windows or after effects.  I would like to know what my options are.

    Todd_Kopriva wrote:

That is unfortunate, maybe I can get my boss to upgrade me.
In the mean time we decided to use WinX for the encoding.  If it were up to me I'd much rather go all Adobe.

From When Adobe CS3, CS4, Cs5, CS5.5 and CS6 will loose activation support like cs and cs2

Nobody can tell you that. CS2 activation was turned off because of bugs in the software that made it too difficult to maintain. so far no such thing has been the case with the otehr versions. Either way, if and when that time comes surely Adobe will let you know and provide a solution...

Probably best to ask in the CS forum. If you still have the software keys for CS4, then upgrading to CS6 should work, but you need to check the upgrade policy on the Adobe Store to be sure. Generally you only need the software key to do the upgrade. If you do not have the key, then you may be up a creek unless you registered (as you should). If you registered, Adobe can likely help on getting you the keys needed for the upgrade. I suggest you confirm this in the CS forum.
