CS4 Application Background Color

In CS3 and earlier, the application background color came from the Windows application background global property. In CS4 the central area seems to be (127,127,127) and I can't figure out how to change it. I have "open documents as tabs" OFF because I like individual windows, so the bright gray background is distracting.
How do I make it darker? There doesn't seem to be a property in Preferences->Interface.
Thank you,
-Michael

in older versions you shift click on the background (i think it's called the matte) with the paint bucket tool and it applies your current foreground color...

  • Application Background Color

    Hi Group,
    I'm just wondering if the Application Background Color can be changed in CS4 applications? It used to be you could set it in windows display properties.
    I don't mean the document background.
    Thanks, Bob

    Just for the preview mode background gray, the pasteboard is always white.

  • Reader 9 - Application background color

    Just installed A R 9 - the background to the application is black. I know I can change that when the display is in Full Screen mode, but can it be changed for Normal view? Why black??

    I have solution for this problem that I have to use:
    1) Run maximized application with desired background color (i use empty file opened in GVim with light gray background color)
    2) Enable in Reader Reading mode (ctrl+h) and Resize width of Adobe Reader window to the width of the document when you see just a strip of Adobe-stupid black background
    Or you can use different viewer for pdf files (that is probably even better solution)

  • Flex4: Application background color in AS3

    How do you change the background color of the Application node in AS3?
    I cannot access the "backgroundColor" property by using either:
    Application(FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication). [backgroundColor]
    MyApplicationName(FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication). [backgroundColor]
    Both cannot locate the backgroundColor attribute!

    hi,
    this.setStyle('backgroundColor',0x333333);

  • Application Background Color changes to white

    The application background (the color that appears behind the image) should be set to grey, black or a custom color.  No matter what is chosen, it is white when changing between images.  I have to click on the background space to get it to change back to my selected color.  If I again switch pictures, it is white again.
    Does anyone know a fix for this issue?
    I am running CS5 in Windows 8.  It was not an issue on my Windows 7 PC.

    Could you please post a screenshot with the Layers Panel visible and mark what area you mean?

  • Application background color change

    I pressed some command key in error and got a bright blue background in the application frame around the image I've got open in photoshop cs6. How do I get it back to the neutral gray?

    Under preferences (ctrl/cmd-K) select the Interface option and set the Screen mode to default.

  • Is it possible to change the CS4 background color?

    I am doing a job which requires lots of screengrabs of images and settings against the usual dark gray CS4 background. The problem is that the guidelines you adjust to form a rectangle round the image you're grabbing are dark grayish too and it's difficult to see it against the gray background. Is there any way to temporarily change the dark gray CS4 window background color? I'm running under Vista and changing the window and application background colors in Vista makes no difference to the background color in CS4 which sticks at dark gray.
    Thanks.
    David

    Thanks.
    Geoff - Changing the color in Full Screen with Menus has no effect. The dark gray is still there after a close CS4 and open.
    Thanks for the alternative approach. The Faststone screengrab process is quicker. It's just a nuisance you can't change the color or thickness of the grabbing lines.
    Rob - which background? When I right click on the CS4 background - the working area with nothing in it - I get no context menu. I get nothing in fact.
    I am surprised that the Prefernces/Interface changes don't work but they don't seem to.
    I have done abou 160 screen grabs and probably have another 3-400 to do.

    Are you trying to apply a gradient background?
    In Flex 3 in Application tag:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
      backgroundColor="#666666"
      backgroundGradientColors="[#333333, #666666]">
    </mx:Application>
    In Flex 4 you need to set the backgroundColor and apply a skin for the gradient:
    -------------- mySkins/MyAppSkin.mxml -------------
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <!-- containers\application\mySkins\MyAppSkin.mxml -->

  • Flex 4 lacks the default-background-color compiler option?

    Hello,
    started converting my Flex 3 applications to Flex 4 and noticed that Flex 4 lacks the default-background-color compiler option.
    Flex 3 has it: http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=compilers_14.html
    Flex 4 doesn't: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flex/using/WS2db454920e96a9e51e63e3d11c0bf69084-7a92.html
    This raises a question: how am I supposed to keep my background from flashing from grey to white when the RIA is loaded? Is it possible to use preloader with background set to whatever color I like to see? Any easier solutions?
    Best regards,
    Jukka

    This works for me:
    @namespace mx "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx";
    mx|Application{
         background-color:#ffffff;
    Of course if you have changed the Application element to spark equivalent, you have to change the namespace.

  • How to give Common Background color for all JPanels in My Swing application

    Hi All,
    I am developing a swing application using The Swing Application Framework(SAF)(JSR 296). I this application i have multiple JPanel's embedded in a JTabbedPane. In this way i have three JTabbedPane embedded in a JFrame.
    Now is there any way to set a common background color for the all the JPanel's available in the application??
    I have tried using UIManager.put("Panel.background",new Color.PINK);. But it did not work.
    Also let me know if SAF has some inbuilt method or way to do this.
    Your inputs are valuable.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Nishanth.C

    It is not the fault of NetBeans' GUI builder, JPanels are opaque by default, I mean whether you use Netbeans or not.Thank you!
    I stand corrected (which is short for +"I jumped red-eyed on my feet and rushed to create an SSCCE to demonstrate that JPanels are... mmm... oh well, they are opaque by default... ;-[]"+)
    NetBeans's definitely innocent then, and indeed using it would be an advantage (ctrl-click all JPanels in a form and edit the common opaque property to false) over manually coding
    To handle this it would be better idea to make a subclass of JPanel and override isOpaque() to return false. Then use this 'Trasparent Panel' for all the panels where ever transparency is required.I beg to differ. From a design standpoint, I'd find it terrible (in the pejorative sense of the word) to design a subclass to inconsistently override a getter whereas the standard API already exposes the property (both get and set) for what it's meant: specify whether the panel is opaque.
    Leveraging this subclass would mean changing all lines where a would-be-transparent JPanel is currently instantiated, and instantiate the subclass instead.
    If you're editing all such lines anyway, you might as well change the explicit new JPanel() for a call to a factory method createTransparentJPanel(); this latter could, at the programmer's discretion, implement transparency whichever way makes the programmer's life easier (subclass if he pleases, although that makes me shudder, or simply call thePanel.setOpaque(false) before returning the panel). That way the "transparency" code is centralized in a single easy to maintain location.
    I had to read the code for that latter's UI classes to find out the keys to use (+Panel.background+, Label.foreground, etc.), as I happened to not find this info in an authoritative document - I see that you seem to know thoses keys, may I ask you where you got them from?
    One of best utilities I got from this forum, written by camickr makes getting these keys and their values very easy. You can get it from his blog [(->link)|http://tips4java.wordpress.com/2008/10/09/uimanager-defaults/]
    Definitely. I bit a pair of knucles off when discovered it monthes after cumbersomely traversing the BasicL&F code...
    Still, it is a matter-of-fact approach (and this time I don't mean that to sound pejorative), that works if you can test the result for a given JDK version and L&F, but doesn't guarantee that these keys are there to stand - an observation, but not a specification.
    Thanks TBM for highlighting this blog entry, that's the best keys list device I have found so far, but the questions still holds as to what specifies the keys.

    <p class="c3"><strong class="c2">Using Octenol to Attract Mosquitoes<br /></strong><br /></p>
    <p class="c3">Octenol is an natural chemical that occurs naturally as a by-product of plants and some animals that eat a lot of vegetable produce. If carbon dioxide is mixed with octenol, it has been found to be an attractant to several mosquito species. There are other insects such as no-see-ums and biting midges that are also attracted to this scent. It has been proven to be a very effective product, especially for no-see-ums.<br />
    <br />
    <img src="images/12137165-cartoon-stop-mosquito.jpg" width="168" height="168" alt="mosquito" /><br />
    <br />
    Octenol is also a pesticide ingredient that is used to attract mosquitoes and biting flies. It does not kill the insects; it only attracts them. It can be used in combination with other products and devices that do kill them once they are successfully attracted to the device. It is important to be aware that non-pest insects are also attracted and destroyed by some of the devices.<br />
    <br />
    If octenol is ingested, there is a possibility for toxicity. It is not, however, harmful in the air to humans, pets, or the environment. It is vitally important that it is kept safely away from children to avoid the possibility of ingesting. Placement of the attractant and device utilized to catch biting insects should be carefully considered. It should be kept safely away from children and pets.<br /></p>
    <p class="c3">To be most effective in mosquito control, the attractant should be placed between the breeding grounds of the mosquito and the area where the people are located. There are range limits that the attractant will reach and this needs to be considered in the placement of the trap as well.<br /></p>

  • Background Color on Application tag not showing...

    I just recently upgraded to the nightly build version # 4.0.0.10045 and the backgroundColor property on the main application tag is no longer rendering the background color. I noticed a new ApplicationSkin.mxml in the spark skins with the following:
    <!---
            A rectangle with a solid color fill that forms the background of the application.
            The color of the fill is set to the Application's backgroundColor property.
        -->
        <s:Rect id="backgroundRect" left="0" right="0" top="0" bottom="0"  >
            <s:fill>
                <s:SolidColor color="{getStyle('backgroundColor')}" />
            </s:fill>
        </s:Rect>
    However adding a backgroundColor property to the Application tag or in the CSS has not given any results.

    Ok it turns out it is not the application tag causing problems, but the halo VBoxes, HBoxes and Viewstacks. It seems I can no longer apply background colors to them at all.
    Here's an example:
    <mx:VBox id="footerVBox" horizontalAlign="center" verticalGap="-5" paddingBottom="5" paddingTop="0" backgroundColor="0xFF0000" width="600">
         <mx:HBox horizontalGap="1" verticalAlign="middle">
              <mx:Label text="{copyrightSymbol} 2009 SearchIgnite" fontSize="12" color="#003366" />
              <mx:VRule height="12" strokeColor="#003366"/>
              <mx:Label text="{'Version ' + version}" fontSize="12" color="#003366"/>
              <mx:VRule height="12" strokeColor="#003366"/>
              <mx:Label text="Customer Service 888-744-6483" fontSize="12" color="#003366" />
         </mx:HBox>
    </mx:VBox>
    Is rendering with a white background behind it, obsucring the background color of my application. The backgroundColor style property is not getting applied at all.
    Upon rewriting this group as:
    <s:Group id="footerVBox" width="100%">
         <s:layout>
              <s:VerticalLayout horizontalAlign="center" paddingBottom="5" paddingTop="5"  />
         </s:layout>
         <s:Group>
              <s:layout>
                   <s:HorizontalLayout verticalAlign="middle" />
              </s:layout>
             <s:Label text="{copyrightSymbol} 2009 SearchIgnite" fontSize="12" color="#003366" />
             <mx:VRule height="12" strokeColor="#003366"/>
             <s:Label text="{'Version ' + version}" fontSize="12" color="#003366"/>
             <mx:VRule height="12" strokeColor="#003366"/>
             <s:Label text="Customer Service 888-744-6483" fontSize="12" color="#003366" />
    </s:Group>
    </s:Group>
    I am able to get the background color of the app to show through. Again I am using build version 4.0.0.10045 and this was not an issue in the previous builds.
