CS4 Bridge and Web Galleries

This is probably nit-picking, but I liked a web gallery which I have been using on a site which has about 13 galleries on it. The choices for web galleries in CS4 are OK, but when I checked the file size on a web gallery in CS4 with an identical one I did with CS3, the size was about 5 times as large.
Since I have upgraded to CS4, the old CS3 Bridge isn't available (to my knowledge) and I had to move all the photos from Bridge in CS4 to a folder so I could access the web gallery from CS3.
Tell me if there is an easier way to use the old web gallery directly from CS4 or a way to access the old Bridge from CS3?

Hi all<br />It is still possible to create webgalleries and contactsheets in CS4, but you have to copy some files and folders from a folder called Goodies which you can find on you install disk or download as extras from Adobe.com. <br />In the "...Goodies\Optional plug-ins" folder there is a OptionalPluginsReadMe.pdf where they among other things write:<br /><br />"1. From the Photoshop CS4 install disc, drop the //<language>/Goodies/Optional plug-<br />Ins/Automate/WebContactSheetII plug-in into the //Adobe Photoshop CS4/Plugins/<br />Automate folder<br /><br />2. From the Photoshop CS4 install disc, drop the //<language>/Goodies/Presets/Web Photo<br />Gallery folder into the //Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets folder and then restart Photoshop."

  • Make CS4 Bridge flash web galleries customizable

    A few of the flash web galleries allow the addition of metadata. But you can not select the content. I need to be able to add the "description" to my images. This is a simple but vital function that was easily available in the older HTML galleries.
    Please add it to the flash-based galleries!

    They stripped it from the token HTML gallery as well. Everyone seems to agree that the few web galleries included have been dumbed down and it does not seem to allow for third party galleries.

  • Auto fill subject with an Email link in CS4 Bridge flash web gallery

    Is there a way to autofill the subject line of the email link in the CS4 Bridge flab web galleries? I can do it if I use the html gallery, but I prefer the look of the flash galleries.
    If I open the "group.xml" file I see code for me email link, exp.:  <contactEmail>maillto:[email protected]</contactEmail>
    I tried adding the "?subject=My Subject" like I would on an html file but that didn't work. I was hoping for some suggestions.
    Thanks!

    I want it to work on the click of a mouse: when I run or test the page the email comes up immediately. Here is what I have so far:
    navigateToURL(new URLRequest("mailto:mailto:[email protected]?subject=yoursubject&body=your message"));
    /* Mouse Click Event
    Clicking on the specified symbol instance executes a function in which you can add your own custom code.
    Instructions:
    1. Add your custom code on a new line after the line that says "// Start your custom code" below.
    The code will execute when the symbol instance is clicked.
    button_3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_MouseClickHandler_6);
    function fl_MouseClickHandler_6(event:MouseEvent):void
         // Start your custom code
         // This example code displays the words "Mouse clicked" in the Output panel.
         trace("Mouse clicked");
         // End your custom code
    So how do I get the email to open ONLY when the mouse clicks on the link??

  • Client Selection Ability Option in PDF and Web Galleries

    A great improvement for the output section of Bridge would be for selection ability in PDF and Web Galleries.
    I can send clients a pdf or web gallery that has a checkbox for each image. My clients would be able to check the images they want and click submit.
    It would be easier then to taylor fees on a per image basis.
    I would love to hear from other photographers to see if they think having the selection ability option could help speed up the workflow.
    Thanks.

    This would be a feature sorely needed by the otherwise great galleries.  I wonder if any third party has modified a script or something for this?

  • Export ever get a fix? Can Bridge make web galleries?

    Did export panel ever get fixed for CS5? I currently use LR for web galleries. Was curious if Bridge can make web galleries.

    Funny that Bridge does not have the beautiful web gallery choices that LR has.
    It's not funny.  ;-)  I tried long and hard to push for parity.
    I know tons of people use LR for many things. I only use it presently for it amazing web gallery making!
    (everything else, I'm a PS and Bridge guy)
    Yup, me, too.  The output aspects of Bridge (Web and PDF) still need serious work.  I've submitted a long list of requests. It's frustrating to have to use multiple major apps from the same company because of a gross deficiency in one - especially when that app is the "parent app," so to speak.  Maybe in CS6...

  • Problem with CS4 Bridge and Camera Raw

    I just bought a Canon 5D Mark III and can not open the images in Camera Raw through Bridge.  I was told to upgrade the Camera Raw plug in.  I have 5.7.0.213 already and that is what I could find to download.  Can I upgrade the plug in into CS4 Bridge or how do I make this work.
    Please, I need help with this soon.
    Thanks, Tom

    Isn't there any other option?  I don't have a compter that can run CS6 and at the moment, upgrading compters and Photoshop isn't going to happen.  All I need is to upgrade the Camera Raw Plug-in.  There has to be some sort of work around for this.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • IPhoto and compression of uploads to iWeb albums and Web Galleries?

    It appears it's been established that iPhoto automatically sizes uploads to Web Galleries and iWeb albums to 800x600 no matter the resolution of the original picture.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5118968#5118968
    You can clumsily work around this in Web Gallery by uploading directly through the gallery upload button or via email, as discussed here.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5168599#5168599
    What I'm wondering is whether there's a way to do something similar in an iWeb album? My experience is that even if I do specify the option in the photo inspector to allow Original (Full Quality) downloads from the album, the files are still heavily compressed somewhere along the line, with 2.2MB originals coming back at 650KB or so.
    Can anyone shed any light on this?

    Hi.
    I don't have iPhoto 08 yet, but had a similar concern in iPhoto 6. I let iWweb do it's thing and then overwrote the images that it produced.
    How? I edited the photos to the way I wanted them in Photoshop or Aperture(!) and saved it out to the largest size (800x600, I believe). Then I set up an Automator action to dupe and resize the pictures to the thumbnail size. When done, I moved the files to my iDisk and put em wher they belong.
    It's a bit of a hassle, but I got the quality that I wanted...also, not sure if that'll work in 08...

  • Versions and Web galleries

    When creating a web gallery I have noticed that only the pick of the stack is able to be published to the web page. What do you have to do to get multiple versions on a page for viewing. Can you split the version set like you do with stacks and then send each image to the web gallery. The whole point of versions to me is to present variations to your clients (color, crop, B+W, etc) so they can select the best one. If you can't publish this to web that's pretty weak.
    Thanks for the help.

    the versions act like stacks ... you can split them at will ...
    and yes web galleries only take the pick of the stack ...
    at first i too was troubled by this, however i have adapted and am now quite pleased that it does this, as it allows me to play around with images and only have my pick show ... if i want multiple versions, i just extract from stack ...

  • IPhone and web galleries

    I've made several web galleries via the new iPhoto and put them on my .mac site. When I go to view the gallery from my iPhone I never get past the login window. I type the password really carefully and it just gives me a new blank login window again. It works when I check the gallery from my desktop computer.
    Thanks for any help.

    Ok - so I think i may have the solution. Apparently, my album name had double quotes in there..( " ). That's what was causing the problem. If I remove the quotes from the name, the iPhone now seems to be perfectly happy with the album.
    This seems to be a bug in the way Web Galleries work, but for now, ensuring that the web gallery does not have any special characters may be a start.

  • Multiple Libraries and Web Galleries

    I just upgraded to iLife 08 and I'm wondering if the web gallery feature is compatible with the web galleries feature.
    Here's my situation: I have several three primary iPhoto libraries: one of family pix, one of photos from Congo, related to my aunt and uncle's mission work (which I use for their website), and one related to the ministry of my husband's church. I have one .mac account.
    If possible, I want to create web galleries using two of these iPhoto libraries, but I'm worried that when I "publish" galleries from the Congo library that the galleries I previously published from my family library will be erased from my iDisk. I searched the forums but I didn't find any discussion of this. Does anyone else have any experience in this regard?
    Thanks,
    kabing

    kabing:
    Web galleries published from different libraries will not remove previously published galleries. Just make sure the gallery names are not the same.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Lost communication btw cs4 bridge and photoshop cs4

    I cannot double click a thumb in the bridge and enter Photoshop cs4. It brings up the Microsoft viewer instead. Nothing I have tried corrects this. I can get to Photoshop cs4 through camera raw, but that means opening all jpegs and tiffs in raw. Can anyone help? Perhaps I will need to download the upgrade to cs4 again. But installing the plugins for fractals and NIK software can be a drag. I no longer have cs3, so I can't revert to it
    I have Windows XP professional on a Dell, two 500 gig internal drives and a 500gig LaCie external drive
    Thanks
    Paul

    That camera was recently supported for the first time by ACR 8.6, which needs at least CS6 to run.  You will never be able to open those raw NEF files in CS4, as there will never be an update for CS4.
    Your choices are to upgrade, or to use the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 on each and every batch of raw NEF files in order to convert them to raw DNGs that you can open in CS4.

    Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 8.6

  • Iweb and web galleries?

    i need to use a password protected program to host online albums for clients through my website. 1) i have no idea how to do this and 2) where to get it... my website is hosted through godaddy.com but is created through iweb.
    - i have been told simple viewer and web gallery wizzard (although i dont know if thats PC only) but im not sure how either works effectively - and/or how to plug them into my website
    anyone have any suggestions or links to help?
    thanks in advance..

    You can create a password protected site with a photo gallery and slideshow with iWeb. If you need more than one site, you can create additional sites, each password protected separately in iWeb.
    If you decide to create multiple sites that way you might want to coinsider using iWebSites. One way to handle multiple sites is to use iWebSites. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files. If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites.
    This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

  • CS4 Bridge and IE 8

    I installed IE 8. Suddenly when I click a thumbnail in bridge, IE interferes and opens a window that asks if I want to download this file. I've never seen this before. If you have and know the fix, please let me know. Thank you!

    IE8 is at the RC1 stage. In other words, it is feature-complete but probably
    not free of bugs. You should report this to Microsoft if you cannot resolve
    it.
    But first, you might check to make sure that the installation process did
    not mess up your file associations in Bridge and elsewhere. You didn't
    mention what your file types are, but certainly this is a possibility if you
    are dealing with common internet formats like jpeg or gif.

  • CS4 Bridge and Photoshop crash when closing

    I am experiencing regular crashes with both Bridge and PS when I attempt to close them. Everything works until that time. I am using an iMac running 10.5.6. This is more nuisance than worry. Any suggestions?
    Cheers,
    Jeff

    hi jeff
    I've seen random crashes on closing and random freezes with a new box and 10.5.6. There are a couple posts here about stability issues, I'm not sure where the problem is, PS, OS, fonts, who knows, but there's something going on.
    And, since we (end users) don't have access to a bug list or known problems list with the exception of posts here on the forum, it seems that we are destined to revisit the same problems.
    regards j

  • CS4 Bridge and the new CC

    Will my old CS4 version of Bridge interact with the new CC?

    One other thing. Bridge has been crashing when I do an action and I suspect it's because I'm using a 32 bit Photoshop on my 64 bit PC....and I've gotten a new camera with much larger files. Does that make sense?
    Thanks, and BTW was a relief to hear that Bridge is a free download.
    Cheers!
