CS4 Bridge coordination with Lightroom?

I prefer the organizing capability of LR, but do more work in PS, and print from PS. Is there a way to get collections synced between the two programs? Assuming that this is the right forum, I would appreciate a pointer to any information about coordinating use of the two programs. Sorry for the broad question.

Have you tried the Adobe Bridge Macintosh forum yet?

  • Problems with running Photoshop CS6 and Bridge with Lightroom 4 also on the same PC

    I was running Photoshop and Bridge, then purchased Lightroom 4. Before installingt 4 I had no problems with Bridge, but since installing 4 all of the photo's that were held in bridge are now gone, but they are in Lightroom. With Lightroom, you are able to edit photos out of Lightroom and into Photoshop when necessary, save and close and it automatically changed the Lightroom picture.
    I have two PC's, one has Bridge on it (this one) and the other without, but both have both editing prgrams installed. On the other PC I can switch between Lightroom and Photoshop with no problems, but when I try to switch with this PC, the one with Bridge installed, it will open Photoshop, but the photo will not transfer. If I close Photoshop program and go back to Lightroom, it will tell me that the picture could not be transfered to Photoshop because it would not launch. If I close that message window, it will then launch Photoshop and the picture transferes over allowing me to edit and save as normal.
    My question is; does anyone know if Lightroom and Bridge should run side by side, or should I delete Bridge from this PC and see what happens. Bridge is just a holder and organizer of photos, wherease Lightroom does the same, but also has post editing capabilities. The two programs seem redundant, but if your running Photoshop, it's hard to get files out of Lightroom. It seems that you need to open Lightroom first, then you can view and chose a photo to work on, then move it back and forth between the two programs. This seems to make Bridge redundant.
    Thanks for any help or suggestions.

    Hi, Yes, but that actually wasn't the problem. I start out in Lightroom,
    then move to Photoshop if I have something that can't be fixed in
    Lightroom. The problem was that when I tried to edit, out of Lightroom and
    into Photoshop, I was getting an error message that Lightroom couldn't
    prepare files for transfer because Photoshop wouldn't open. But, it had
    opened, the picture just wouldn't transfer. If I closed Photoshop,
    Lightroom would try again and it would open and transfer the second time. I
    ended up going to the Adobe help, chat line, and they looked into my PC and
    located the problem, it's now working fine. Thanks to everyone for your
    inputs. Most appreciated.

  • Problem with CS4 Bridge and Camera Raw

    I just bought a Canon 5D Mark III and can not open the images in Camera Raw through Bridge.  I was told to upgrade the Camera Raw plug in.  I have 5.7.0.213 already and that is what I could find to download.  Can I upgrade the plug in into CS4 Bridge or how do I make this work.
    Please, I need help with this soon.
    Thanks, Tom

    Isn't there any other option?  I don't have a compter that can run CS6 and at the moment, upgrading compters and Photoshop isn't going to happen.  All I need is to upgrade the Camera Raw Plug-in.  There has to be some sort of work around for this.
    Anyone have any ideas?

I'm trying to open the CR2 files in Bridge to adjust them before I open them up in Photoshop, but it's giving me an error code saying it's the wrong file type. I downloaded the latest updates for Adobe Raw as well as the DNG converter, however I don't want to have to convert to DNG before opening in Bridge. • Workflow "issues" with Lightroom when used to using Bridge

    Ive been using bridge & Photoshop to process and edit my RAW images for a few years now. I'd love to move over to using Lightroom to take advantage of its improved features and vastly superior response time. But Im finding working with Lightroom is more cumbersome in the processing part.
    With bridge Id find the RAW image I like, adjust it using ACR and one click brigs it into photoshop. I edit the photo and save it as a psd. Often I crop and sharpen or otherwise process the psd file and save the result as a jpg in the best directory. The latter file is typically the one I show. With Bridge doing all this is straightforward.
    With Lightroom its more involved. Using the develop module I adjust the image and hit Ctrt-E to edit the picture in Photoshop. A dialog box opens and I always select Edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments (be nice if we could say always do this dont ask me each time). The photo now opens in Photoshop but not before Lightroom has created a psd file in my RAW files directory. Why? So now I edit and save the result in my Before crop directory. I then crop and sharpen and save the result in my best directory. Of course Lightroom doesnt see either of my new photos in the B4 crop or best directory so I have to import them.
    Is there an easier workflow that Im missing? I dont want psd files in with my RAW files and I want to keep my best files separate.

    Mikepa, if you want to keep your PSD and "best files" separate from your raw files, then simply export the raw files to the format of your choice in the folder of your choice. You can later import these to Lr but in my workflow these exported images that I manipulate in Photoshop do not return to Lr. Instead I use Bridge as my TIF/PSD image manger.
    In short, Lr for RAW; Bridge for TIF/PSD. Why? I have thousands of RAW files that require the efficiencies that Lr deliver, but the far, far fewer TIF and PSD files I create are handled better in Bridge (with it's tight integration to Photoshop actions and scripts).

  • LR3 - Cannot edit in Photoshop CS4 ("Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments")

    Having just purchased LR3, it seems that when I select "Edit a copy with Lightroom Adjustments", that the LR adjustments aren't being carried across into CS4. I am only given the original file in PS.
    Is this a known bug?

    So what do you think might be the problem, Dorin?
    I don't know. I haven't seen a bug (assuming it is indeed a bug, and not an operator error) like this is mentioned here in the forums.
    This issue is going to affect my business in a major way.
    If this is so critical to your business, you can use a workaround meanwhile.
    Use the regular export command with the following options:
    File type: PSD/TIFF; other relevant filetype options.
    Location: same as original photo.
    Add to this catalog: checked. Stack with original: as needed.
    Post-processing: open in Photoshop.
    Save this as an Export presets and invoke it from the File->Export with Preset from the menu.
    The end result is the same as Edit in Photoshop.

  • Auto fill subject with an Email link in CS4 Bridge flash web gallery

    Is there a way to autofill the subject line of the email link in the CS4 Bridge flab web galleries? I can do it if I use the html gallery, but I prefer the look of the flash galleries.
    If I open the "group.xml" file I see code for me email link, exp.:  <contactEmail>maillto:[email protected]</contactEmail>
    I tried adding the "?subject=My Subject" like I would on an html file but that didn't work. I was hoping for some suggestions.
    Thanks!

    I want it to work on the click of a mouse: when I run or test the page the email comes up immediately. Here is what I have so far:
    navigateToURL(new URLRequest("mailto:mailto:[email protected]?subject=yoursubject&body=your message"));
    /* Mouse Click Event
    Clicking on the specified symbol instance executes a function in which you can add your own custom code.
    Instructions:
    1. Add your custom code on a new line after the line that says "// Start your custom code" below.
    The code will execute when the symbol instance is clicked.
    button_3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_MouseClickHandler_6);
    function fl_MouseClickHandler_6(event:MouseEvent):void
         // Start your custom code
         // This example code displays the words "Mouse clicked" in the Output panel.
         trace("Mouse clicked");
         // End your custom code
    So how do I get the email to open ONLY when the mouse clicks on the link??

  • CS4 additions wanted for lightroom

    After reading about the changes in CS4 to photoshop and bridge I have put together a short list of features that should be added to Lightroom.
    ACR 5
    Auto-Stack Panorama/HDR
    Load Files into Photoshop Layers
    Load Files into Photoshop Layers as smart objects
    Process Collections in Photoshop
    Bridge and Photoshop now share (ACR) preferences I want Lightroom ACR preferences and presets to cross over as well (If I'm using the same tool in different programs I want the tool to be the same no mater which program I'm in) when changing the ACR preferences in Bridge, they will also be modified in Photoshop, and lightroom (and visa versa).
    When changing the metadata templates in Bridge, they will also be modified in lightroom presets (and visa versa)
    Lightroom collections to have two way talking with Bridge collections when changing the collections in Bridge, they will also be modified or added in lightroom (and visa versa).
    A preset folder for all presets so Bridge, photoshop, and lightroom can use and modify presets that are valid in all three programs.

    That's odd I thought 2.0 had options to: open files as Panorama/HDR, but no auto stack Panorama/HDR feature. You can open an image as a smart object, but you can't Load Files into Photoshop Layers as smart objects.
    You might be able to Load Files into Photoshop Layers but I don't recall seeing that option.
    So, no these options are not in LR2
    Forgot to add my specs to my post so here they are

  • How do I find images in LR 2.4 (imported from CS4 Bridge) that have color labels already assigned In CS4 Bridge? I have set both Bridge and LR color labels text to match (eg Green for green, etc).

    How do you find images in LR 2.4 that have been imported from CS4 Bridge and have been assigned a color label in Bridge?  I have set both LR 2.4 and my CS4 Bridge to match the text for each color to be the same (eg. Green for green, etc), and the filter search in LR 2.4 shows that a label has been assigned, but I am unable to identify and locate the specific images in LR 2.4 that have had a color label assigned from CS4 Bridge.  I have tried to search via attribute, metadata, text, etc...Is it necessary to re-assign color labels all over again, image by image, in LR 2.4, or is there a way to automatically have the color labels assigned in CS4 Bridge be assigned and searchable to the images after they have been imported into the LR 2.4 catalogue from the Bridge program?

    JohnM.
    I closed both programs and re-imported photos and re-tried the action of having LR  read the XMP metadata from the CS4 files, and it seems to work now just fine...don't know why now and not before, but thanks much. Is there a way to have LR do this automatically upon import of images from CS4?  I tried to do this with an import metadata preset, but no luck.  It seems as if I can only do this once the images have already been imported into LR, and then to have to have LR read the metadata from the CS4 Bridge files.  thanks gain.

  • "Does Bridge come with Photoshop if I buy the CC single app?"

    Question from a Customer…"Does Bridge come with Photoshop if I buy the CC single app?"

    Actually whether you consider the Suite a unified concept or not, if you are using a variety of Adobe products Bridge does the job well. Here's a great testimonial of what it does according to one user:
    Bridge is the coordinating hub of the Creative Suite. Synchronizing color management settings for all suite programs is done from Bridge, and can only be done from Bridge, to take one important use.
    Bridge displays actual thumbnails of many more file types than Finder or Explorer. It also allows instant play of sound or video files more readily than the native OS file managers.
    Bridge allows direct access to file metadata, to embed copyright information and keywords where appropriate (e.g., for corporate logo vector and raster files). It also displays the fonts used in an InDesign file, the swatches in an INDD or AI and the output plates (including spot color plates) they use.
    When managing the assets for a design project, Bridge allows quick and simple sorting, rating and custom labeling (with color flash indications) of assets. I can rate images according to whether they are rejects, possibles, for review by client, or approved. The filters built into Bridge allow instant isolation of only the approved images or designs in a folder, only the rejects (for deletion) or only files with certain ratings, no matter how many files it contains. It recognizes aspect ratios, so if I only need a landscape or a 16:9 image in a folder of hundreds of images, I turn off the aspect ratios I don't need.
    Once filtered, the remaining visible files can be selected and copied, moved, or deleted without affecting the rest of the contents of a folder.
    Collections are a massively useful feature. One of my clients is a performing arts center, and in a season we turn out dozens of ads, flyers, brochures, web banners, playbills, billboards and other collateral using the same assets over and over. These assets are organized by artist and/or show on disk, but I set up each season's repeating assets as a Collection in Bridge, so that I just have to open the collection and drag and drop these assets into new INDD, AI, PSD, HTML (in Dreamweaver), FLA or AE projects without having to navigate from folder to folder picking up individual files.
    Bridge's Favorites is another place I stack frequently-accessed folders, such as stock photography, backgrounds, and top-level folders for active projects.
    Assets can be divided into subfolders, but a quick toggle of "Show items from subfolders" exposes all of the assets in a single view while maintaining their organization. I will typically keep AIs, PSDs, EPSs, stock photography and client images in separate subfolders within a project. When I'm ready to start pulling assets into an InDesign layout, I toggle this on and simply drag what I need into the layout.
    Bridge comes with Adobe Camera Raw built in, which is many times faster than using Photoshop to adjust jpegs or tiffs for things like tonal range, white balance, cropping, spotting and sharpening, and is non-destructive.
    One tremendously useful Bridge function for InDesign CS5+ users is the "Show linked files" feature, which opens all the linked files in a layout into a single view, regardless of where they are physically located. I often use this when doing alternative layouts from a client-approved mockup for a campaign, to be certain the same assets are used in each piece, or when creating a motion graphic or interactive piece for the campaign in After Effects or Flash.
    The batch and image processing scripts built into Bridge automate things like creating web-ready small jpegs from multiple images, renaming large numbers of files in place or by copying to an alternative location, creating sets of PSD, png, jpeg or other file types from an assortment of image files, and so on.
    Bridge is so much a part of my daily workflow that on my main workstation I have one monitor dedicated to it almost 100%. Bridge just sits open 24/7, ready for use. I would run at half speed without it, no question.
    Not bad for an old file browser.

  • Putting a CS4 Bridge gallery INTO an exsisting web page

    Is it possible to put a web gallery created in CS4 Bridge into an exsisting web page created in Dreamweaver? I have a site with several pages and would like to have one of my pages display the gallery so that it all looks the same. I am sure it would entail editing the html and scripts which I am somewhat familure with. Just wondering if this is possible.

    As you say it's probably a matter of getting the html generated by the gallery and insert it into your own pages.  I'm not familiar with creating such a gallery, but the technotes do bring up some links that may be helpful  (hopefully  :-)

  • Photoshop CS5/Lightroom 3 integration issue - "Edit Copy with Lightroom Adjustments" does not work

    When clicking "Edit Copy with Lightoomroom Adjustments" from Lightroom, I get an error in Lightroom 3 complaining that the Camera Raw plug-in is not up to date; full message below.
    "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 6.1 for full compatibility.
    Camera Raw version 4.6 is the latest version available for Photoshop CS3. If raw file support for your camera was introduced after Camera Raw 4.6, the Photoshop integration features in Lightroom require Photoshop CS4 and the latest Camera Raw version 5 plug-in.
    The version of Camera Raw plug-in currently installed is 0.0."
    After I click "Open Anyways", Photoshop CS5 is initiated but it seems to have lost context of why it is opened and asks me what file I want to open (i.e. the Open As dialog).
    "Edit Copy" and "Edit Original" from Lightroom 3 works as expected and opens images fine in Photoshop, CS5 however.
    My installation is on Windows 7. I currently also have Lightroom 1.4 and Photoshop CS3 installed. Everything worked fine with the old configuration. I also tried the same workflow in Lightroom 1.4 again just now, which is now linked to CS5 instead of CS3. The "Edit Copy with Lightroom Adjustments" also work just fine.
    Things that I have tried but do not worked:
    I did an Update via the Help -> Update menu, and also manually downloaded the Camera Raw 6.1 plug-in.
    Blew away the Photoshop preferences file
    Made sure that Lightroom 3 points to Photoshop for editor
    I'm thinking that I'll try uninstall CS3 next. Anyone else encountered this issue?

    [CS5.1 (12.1) ACR 6.5RC / LR 3.5RC; MacbookPro 4gb Leopard 10.5.8 ] As a Lightroom instructor, up until now this has been a vexxing problem to explain to my students. Even if ACR in Photoshop is up to date (I just downloaded 6.5RC and installed the PS Plugin), I still get the error when attempting to edit from Lightroom 3.5RC. I deleted the PS prefs file to no avail. I was not willing to re-install Photoshop as a solution (per some blog's suggestion), although that might be the ultimate answer. But what an ordeal if so!
    For a solution, I went back to a resolution I devised when I had a CS3 compatibility problem with LR3. I went into the Preferences of Lightroom and manually chose the Photoshop app as the "custom" image editor. I went back to edit the file in PS from Lightroom and the ACR error disappeared. Try it. Yes, this means you need to use the Custom editor as your image editor, but it seems to have resolved the issue.
