CS4, Bridge, Network Magic -- conflict???

I just got a couple of computers linked via Network Magic.  I can open images in CS4 Extended Editor but Bridge keeps crashing.  Anyone had, or heard of , this problem?
tia,
Michael Drury

OK, it looks like the problem is NOT with Network Magic.  It seems to be the WD external HD.

  • Installing Cisco E3000, conflict with Network Magic

I have replaced, for security reasons, my old Belkin with the Cisco E3000.  The installation disk runs and then says will not configure router.  I tried Cisco Router chat but they say it is a Network Magic problem, because the software in the install disk conflicts with Network Magic.  I have checked my firewall (Sunbelt's Vipre) and did not see any problem.  I am running XP SP3.  I also uninstalled all the Belkin entries I can find, rebooted, and still it would not install.  Somewhere, in Network Magic, has to be the process in which I need.
    Information to help in diagnosis:
    Network Magic version 5.5.9195.0-Pure0
    Cable Connection
Cable modem is a Motorola, SB 5100
Router I am trying to install:  Cisco E3000.  Since it won't setup, I can't give you any info
    Router Connection: Wired
Ethernet port is a PCI Card
Windows XP SP 3 with all updates
Firewall from Sunbelt software, the Vipre product versions 4.0.3904, updated 30 minutes ago
Vipre also applies to the Anti-Virus
My physical locating is Western PA, USA
I was able, with the router setting up, connect to the internet simply by plugging in the router to the modem and then PC.  Plugging in the router to the cable modem was part of the setup procedure.  Connecting to the PC was something I did via Network Magic.  This did not set up the router.

I have a variety of devices on my home network, such as 1 MAC, 5 Win 7 PCs, 4 Android mobile phones, 1 TV PVR, 1 BluRay Player, 1 TV, 2 Network Printers, 1 iPod Touch. All of them is appearing as the should except one of the mobile phones. It is being recognized as a Win 7 PC and I can not change the type to anything but a PC/Mac. I have tried changing the IP address and also completely resetting the network but to no avail. Network Magic also gives my Android phone (HTC Desire) the name of one of the connected Win 7 PC's. The IP address and MAC address recognized by Network Magic is the ones associated with the phone, not the PC. The PC is a laptop with both wired and wireless connection, but it doesn't help if I disable on or the other or both. I have also completely reinstalled Network Magic on the PC but the problem persists.
In addition to being annoying, the problem also prevents me from administrating a NetGear access point as it only accepts to be managed by the computer Network Magic is associating with my Androd phone. To work around that issue I hope I can do a factory reset on the access point and reconfigure it, but I'm not looking forward to it. I have bought Network magic Pro as my network management sw and would like to use it for that purpose.
    Please anyone - HELP!

Dang! It's been a year since this was posted and nobody is able to HELP...
Anyway, I have the same problem here too... My Verizon Motorola Droid A855 is identifies as computer and Microsoft Windows 7 (workstation). I can't get the other options to categorize it as a cellphone. The thing is my Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-Ray DVD Player appears on the network map and I was able to put it under "Media Adapter," another pc appears  as it should, a Hawking Wireless-G Range Extender as "Wireless Access Point," and a BoostMobile Motorola i1 Android cellphone appears as a "cellphone." So, how come my Motorola DROID A855 is detailed as under my pc name and operating system Windows & Professional? This is weird.
    Anybody has an answer?

  • Qemu - Bridged networking with wireless adapter

How can I use bridged networking with wireless on Qemu virtual machine? With virtualbox it can be easily done. I don't why in Qemu it is so complicated, maybe virtualbox have completely difference mechacnism on this. I've read the wiki, it looks like impossible to use wireless for bridged networking. If it is really impossible, why virtualbox can do it?
And, in arch wiki's qemu manual, i didn't see how to use NetworkManager there to do bridged networking. Since, I use NetworkManager and disable the others (like netct and dhcpcd), it make it even more complicated. But, maybe it's because me that don't understand. Maybe someone experienced here can give me a way around this?

bagol wrote:How can I use bridged networking
It's up to you to set up the bridged network - or use TAP, e.g.:
ip tuntap add dev <devname> mode tap user <youruser>
    ip lin set <devname> up
    ip route ...
    ... and proxy_arp
... and iptables forwarding & masquerade
It's a good learning experience, to set up the network yourself, rather than have VirtualBox do similar things by *magic*

  • NETWORK MAGIC UNABLE TO SEE OTHER COMPUTERS WITH NM IN THE SAME NETWORK MAP

I have two computers, one desktop (iMac OS X/Win 7 x64 bootcamp) wired connected and one PC laptop wireless connected in the same network through Linksys WAG320N, both running Network Magic ver. 5.5.9195.0-Pure0 (11.2.9195.1  12/13/2011) with the exactly same firewall settings allowing Pure Networks Platform Service to runs in Private and Public networks. The problem is that the both machines don’t see each other with Network Magic installed and therefore valuable features as screen shots or network speed test are not available. I already uninstalled NM in both equipments and reinstalled it, but the issue persists.
Anyone facing this same issue or have a clue on how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Vertigo

As Barney-15E has suggested, this looks very much like 2 routers, and some systems talking to router A and some systems talking to router B.
Bonjour protocols will NOT cross a router boundary, so systems on router A will only see other systems on router A, and systems on router B will only see systems on router B.
The recommented network setup is to make the router connected to the broadband connection be the ONLY router in the home and configure all other routers so they are in "Bridge" mode. That is to say, the other routers are configured so they just extend the primary router's subnet.
How a home router is put into bridge mode is different depending on the make and model of router.
In your case, I think the Belkin should be the primary router, and you should put the Time Capsule into "Bridge" mode. Applications -> Utilities -> Airport Utility -> Time Capsule -> Internet -> Connection Sharing: Off (Bridge Mode).
Once you put the Time Capsule in bridge mode, all your systems should be on the same Belkin subnet, and now Bonjour will see all the Macs in your home.

  • Network Magic or Home Network Defender is Blocking Uploads

I removed my primary hard drive and installed a new, faster larger one.  When I installed Network Magic I have been getting some significant problems:
    1.  Speed test shows 0 Kbps upload speed and the gauge shows nothing uploaded on the Network Magic Speed Test
    2.  I can NOT upload my videos to my external video publishing site - the Vimeo uploader is erroring out and crashing.  When I try the browser tool, I am getting an error that says I can not upload the file.
I did not have this problem before I reinstalled Network Magic.  My other computers do not have this problem.

  • How to remove the "Index Page" option from the Router in Network Magic Pro 5.5.9195

I find it ironic and I can click on my router in the Map view of network magic, and the last option is "Index Page".  This immediately loads my router setup in a browser window. It completely bypasses the router login and password.  I do not want anyone to be able to start my PC, open Network Magic, and click this option and have access to my router.  This is stupid.  How do you turn this option off, remove it, or hide it?
Yes, I know, I could put a password on my PC, but I share it, with other family members, and at this time I don't have user accounts setup for them.
I am looking for a solution in Network Magic, not my OS.
    Thanks,

Anything you do without submitting to form has to be done on the client side (ususally by JavaScript) using data which has been send already from the server.
With JavaScript you can do quite a bit. You can download tables which don't necessarilly appear on the screen, loading them into JavaScript arrays by dynamically generating javascript. Then you can pick up events like drop-box selection and use these tables to chose what you do next (e.g. preloading other fields, setting drop box content etc.).
Or, you can cause forms to be submitted when actions like a selection happen without the user clicking a button. It's generally a matter of how much data you'd need to transmit.
Another posibility is to use a Java applet, which can generate requests to the server and handle the results as it chooses. That are a number of problems with that but occasionally it's the best solution.
What you can't do is to handle user input inside a JSP. The JSP has come and gone before the user even gets to see your form.

  • Network Magic Confusion

Hi – My problem is that NWM is confused and thinks that I do not have a link to my router.  Also, following changes to my network the map has not been updated.  How do I get Network Magic to update it’s map?
Last night I tried to upgrade the FW on my BEFSR41 and ended up with a brick – not sure why, but I have been unable to revive it.  I had this Dlink DI-624 which I was using simply as an access point, and I then moved over to be the Gateway.  I was going to replace the BEFSR41 with another one, but instead got a WRT160 which I put in place of the DLink to act as the Access point.  All network functionality seems fine, but Network Magic is confused.  Besides not recognizing that the DLINK router has been moved, it also does not see the new Linksys WRT160.  This is the same on all three computers running NWM.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Below is the requested info re: my network.
    TIA – Tom

THX for the reply, Augie.  Uninstalling Network Magic, then ckeaning out the remnants and finally reinstalling Network Magic on all three computers did in fact allow the program to recognize the topology changes.  This, however, seems like a cumbersome solution to the discovery & mapping of topology changes.

  • How to delete screenshots in Network Magic 5.5?

I am running Network Magic version 5.5.9195.0 on my home network. One of its features is the ability to take desktop screenshots of connected computers. NM will store up to 100 screenshots before overwriting the oldest ones. Rather than accumulating screenshots which are not relevant anymore, I like to delete the ones I have no need for anymore. That way I also save HDD space.
The screenshots are stored in the following location:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Pure Networks\Platform\ScreenCaptures
However, deleting screenshots does NOT remove them from the Past Screenshots list in Network Magic. Hence my question: how do I not only delete screenshots from my computer, but also from the Past Screenshots list in Network Magic? I opened a ticket for this question with Pure Networks, but they closed it without a conclusive answer...

    Hi Flevokiwi,
Best solution for right now, is to uninstall Network Magic. Reboot. Use Explore to delete the remaining folders of Network Magic. Run Disk Cleanup. Reboot and reinstall Network Magic. Use your other copy of Network Magic to reactivate the reinstalled copy of Network Magic.
This was asked before and no one from Network Magic Beta Forums had any other answer.

  • How can you save a customized Web Gallery in CS4 Bridge?

While trying out some the Web Galleries in CS4 Bridge, I have customized several using the customizing options. The info I type in is saved automatically but if I change from one gallery to another, all the customized choices for colors, etc., returns to the default version. Surely there is a way to save what I have input? Kind of ridiculous if you have to do this every time you want to make a gallery. Also, seems that some galleries have more customizing options while others leave those options off. Is this just a bad oversight by Adobe? In the HTML web option, anyway to have it list the file number/name below the image?

I was surprised that no one wanted to answer this question.
    I waited long enough.
I still don't have this working properly

  • How do I find images in LR 2.4 (imported from CS4 Bridge) that have color labels already assigned In CS4 Bridge? I have set both Bridge and LR color labels text to match (eg Green for green, etc).

How do you find images in LR 2.4 that have been imported from CS4 Bridge and have been assigned a color label in Bridge?  I have set both LR 2.4 and my CS4 Bridge to match the text for each color to be the same (eg. Green for green, etc), and the filter search in LR 2.4 shows that a label has been assigned, but I am unable to identify and locate the specific images in LR 2.4 that have had a color label assigned from CS4 Bridge.  I have tried to search via attribute, metadata, text, etc...Is it necessary to re-assign color labels all over again, image by image, in LR 2.4, or is there a way to automatically have the color labels assigned in CS4 Bridge be assigned and searchable to the images after they have been imported into the LR 2.4 catalogue from the Bridge program?

    JohnM.
I closed both programs and re-imported photos and re-tried the action of having LR  read the XMP metadata from the CS4 files, and it seems to work now just fine...don't know why now and not before, but thanks much. Is there a way to have LR do this automatically upon import of images from CS4?  I tried to do this with an import metadata preset, but no luck.  It seems as if I can only do this once the images have already been imported into LR, and then to have to have LR read the metadata from the CS4 Bridge files.  thanks gain.

    8. Software Firewall in use: McAfee Personal Firewall 9.0.136 Build
    9. Also if any Anti-Virus Program or Spyware Program is actively protecting your computer. (Some Programs like Spybot does cause problems, not being able to go to specific sites.)
    10. Include your location in the post or fill out your Profile for this forum and include the location. (Reason: Not all Routers from a given manufacturer are available everywhere.)
    11. Post the link to your Router Model, if an off-brand Router or not found in the USA on the Manufacturer's USA's Website. (Why? Posters helping each other, aren't working for Linksys or Cisco, so make it easier on the posters helping on.)
    12. And any other information you think is important if answering your own post, and the nature of the problem, itself.
    13. By posting all this information, you can hopefully get help from someone that has the same equipment that you have and theirs is working. Not everyone has the same equipment.
(Thanks to thecreator for providing me this list of info needed for NM support)

  • Printer sharing problem in Network Magic

I have a desktop computer running Windows XP connected to a HP Photosmart 1115 printer.  I have a laptop running Windows 7.  I installed Network Magic on both machines.  The network map is showing the printer with a yellow directional arrow going both ways.  When I right-click on the printer and choose "Complete printer setup"  a pop-up screen appears "Connecting to hp photosmart 1115 series on (name of desktop)."  Then another screen pops-up "No driver found".  Then another screen pops-up "File needed:  Printer driver INF for Hp photosmart 1115 series".  Not sure where to look on desktop?  I tried some inf printers drivers but I get "Windows cannot connect to printer".  I also get error 0x00000214 which tells me to set-up the printer by creating a port with \\desktopname\\printername.  This changed the look of the printer icon in the control panel but the printer did not work on either of the machines.  The only way I can print from the laptop is to save my files into a shared folder and then go to the desktop and open the shared folder and print.  Is there any other solution to this problem besides buying a new printer that is compatible with Windows 7?  There are no drivers from HP available to work in Windows 7.  I also am using Norton Security Suite with Comcast.

    Hi jamhome,
You will not be able to use the Printer from your  Windows 7 Laptop without compatible Windows 7 Drivers. I purchased a Lexmark X6570 which is Wireless and works in Windows 7 Utlimate 64-Bit Version Computer.
You need to purchase a Printer or All-in-One that plugs into the Router or is Wireless to each computer.
You also need to open up Windows 7's Network and Sharing Center which may  or may not help.
If you need additional help include the information that the posts at the top of the Forum asks for.

My question is why am I running two different systems from Linksys to manage my router?  Do I need both of them, even though they seem to be a little different? Which one is the future standard for Linksys?  Do I lose anything by deleting one of them, or do I gain anything by keeping both of them?  They do not seem to interfere with each other - it is just confusing.
LELA seems to be the better one now that both have been upgraded to the newer sotware.

That's my understanding as well, but, unfortunately, I am still getting ports being scanned from remote IPs. :-(
Possible sources for this would be:
    1)  another computer on your network is sending out the port scan
    2)  a wireless printer on your network is opening ports  ( I have an HP wireless printer that does this).
    3)  someone is connecting wirelessly to your network, and scanning ports
    1) I only have one computer.
    2) Believe it or not I don't have a printer. :-)
    3) The router is connected to my computer via ethernet cable, so (I assume) I have (hopefully) turned off the wireless part of the router.
To verify that the router's ports are closed, go to Gibson Research at grc.com , and click on the "Shields UP!" test.  Scan your ports and see if any of them are open.  The Shields UP! program WILL do a port scan, so you can also see if your computer's firewall complains during this test.
I have done the above and the ports that "Shields Up" scans are stealthed.
If you do find ports open, the most likely cause is a program, running on one of your computers, that is opening ports.
All the programs that I use I have used for a number of years.  With the D-Link router that I used I did not have this "problem".  Having said that I am not interested in going back to the D-Link router.  Hopefully this problem that I am having with my Linksys router can be rectified. :-)
Report back with the results of the scan.

  • Problems with SRW224G4 switch and Bridged Network Cards

    Hello,
We have recently installed a SRW224G4 switch and have discovered that when we plug our DELL PowerEdge 2900 server into the switch, the switch loses all network connectivity and all of the LED's on the switch start flashing.
The server works perfectly well plugged into another switch, but as soon as we introduce the SRW224G4 into the network, either with the server plugged into that switch or any other, the problem re-occurs.
The only way we found we could eliminate this issue was if we disabled the Bridged Network connection on the two network cards on the server. If we do that, everything is fine, except the network performance of the server has dropped significantly.
The server is plugged into the 1GB ports on the switch, although we tried it on the 100MB ports and received the same problems. The switch reports that the ports are running at full-duplex.
Has anyone noticed this behavior before, and more importantly been able to rectify it.
Thanks in advance for your assistance,
    Paul

I had this problem as well with any Linksys 2024 or rackmountable switch..  The trick is, you need to use the network cards management software to "team" or bridged the 2 NIC's otherwise the switch detects a loop and the whole thing locks up. So lame...  Windows built in bridge mode stinks dont use it.  When you use the Intel management software or Dell or HP's NIc management software you have the option to actually choose "redundant mode" where you can pick a Nic to be the primary, or you can choose Load Balancing where you can essentially double your throughput by joining the 2 nics.
In Windows 2008 Server, you actually do this by going to the Properties on the NIC in  Device Manger.  the software controls are now built right into the driver.  pretty neat.  2003 you can check Device Manager the same way but not sure if it's the same as 2008, you might need to run the actual NIC management app.
    Hope this helps
