CS4 Bridge not showing all files
I'm working on a 1TB drive in a directory with about 1000 dng files. When use Bridge not all files are shown and there are no filters selected. I go into the directory using Windows Explorer and they are indeed there. I can select the file in Windows Explorer and open it in Photoshop without any problems. Any help would be appreciated.
Strange, when I set the option to show reject and hidden files nothing changed. When I set the show items from subfolders all the images appeared. The strange part is that they are all in the same directory. At least it works now. Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.

how is it fixed?Could be disk corruption or bad perference file (s).
You may want to run these "standard" fixes if the problem persists.
1) Check the amount of free space on your harddrive. You should have a several gigs free.
2) You should run disk utility
Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility
a) verify the disk
b) update your permissions.
3) Try a safe boot.
Shutdown your machine. Hold down the shift key. Poweron. Wait awhile Wait awhile while you harddrive
is being checked.

Filter Panel in Bridge not showing all the categories
I am using Bridge CS5 and I download my photos to my laptop using Canon's EOS Utility program. In the Filter Panel on the left I get only a few catogories for some folders where for other folders I get the total of the categories. When I do click on a folder, then while it is collecting all the photos you can see all the categories for a few seconds but then it ends with sometimes just 3 categories. I am using Windows 7 on a 64bit laptop. All the categories in the dropdown box are also marked but still they do not show all in the panel.
What I now saw was if I go to the thumbnails in the Content Panel and I just click on a thumbnail and move it around and back again then a small 600byte ".bridgesort" icon appears and then all the categories show in the Filter Panel for that folder. Anybody knows what is going on? ThanxIn the Filter Panel on the left I get only a few catogories for some folders where for other folders I get the total of the categories.
The filter panel reflects the data of the content panel and while it seems this panel has a mind of its own it only shows categories if there is a choice in a category to filter. For instance having landscape and portrait files in the folder orientation shows landscape and portrait, if you want only landscape this is an option to use this filter for showing only landscape in the content panel. When you have only landscape in the folder there is nothing you can filter because everything is the same and therefor it shows no option for it.
What I now saw was if I go to the thumbnails in the Content Panel and I just click on a thumbnail and move it around and back again then a small 600byte ".bridgesort" icon appears and then all the categories show in the Filter Panel for that folder. Anybody knows what is going on?
You obviously have used the menu View / show hidden files activated. What you see is a small file that contains data for the sort order you have used. The moment you move one file to a new position the sort order changes to manual.
If you deselect the option to show hidden files you won't see this file also. -
Photoshop Open dialog does not show all files
I've been noticing that unconsitantly the Photoshop Open dialog does not show all PSD files in a folder, some are just plain missing. In Finder they show up like normal though. Anyone else with this problem?
The open and save dialogs are provided and mostly run by the OS, not the application.
It sounds like you might have a filter set on your open dialog (like the search option). -
I have 323 files in a folder. Adobe Bridge CC is showing 219 files and 104 Hidden files.
Why would bridge have these Hidden files, It should be showing all of them. Why would bridge have these Hidden files, It should be showing all of them.
That depends, If you have them grouped in a closed stack they also appear as hidden and if you have used a filter the rest not according to the filter criteria is also hidden.
The quickest way to check is to use menu view / show hidden files and to view the files from closed stacks either use menu view / show items from subfolder or use menu stacks / expand all stacks -
Finder does not show all files from NAS
Hi there
I have a NAS attached to my mini where music, ... is stored. I can access it from both the mac as well as a PC.
for some reason the mac finder does not display all the files in the directory even though the files are there (i can see and open them when accessing the NAS through the PC). at the moment I only see this happen in a folder that contains video (mpg) files and some event must have triggered this strange behaviour because I could play the file sometime ago without problem.
also, some of the files are shown as a folder than a file in the finder. E.g. a clip called last_holiday.mpg would show as a folder (when you open it it is empty) rather than a video file.
I have tried to re-mount the share, but this has no effect.
Is this a bug or is there some wrong setting?
thanks for any help,
ChrisI have this same problem with mounted DAV server folders. I can see the files via Windows and other DAV clients -- just not via Finder. Moreover, it does not apply to all files: some of them do show up. And, it does not happen all of the time: just occasionally.

Finder search not showing all files
I'm using Finder to search for files on a server connected to my computer at work. The search results I am getting do not include all the files that meet my search criteria. For example, I am looking through photo files for any files with "34" in the name. Some files show up, but not all of them. See screenshot. I am searching in the "Branded Photoshoot" folder, and I am getting some results (Branded Photoshoot/Hilton Universal/IMG_1434), but another file that is in folder, though a different subfolder, (Branded Photoshoot/Architectural Center/IMG_1534) is NOT showing up. What is causing that subfolder and its files to not be included in the search results?
You're searching for "1434" (not just 34) and getting only files with 1434 in it:

Why does my CD not show all files?
I have a CD-R that I burned on my old G3 of art files--tifs, jpgs, epss etc. There are also a couple of other folders containing logos and graphic files whose contents show up fine, but all the art files (a bunch of folders categorizing contents) do not show up in the window. I can access them if I use the search function ONLY! What gives? Why can't I view the directory of this CD?
In the view window of the CD-R contents, if you change that from Icon view to
one of the other views, can you see a list of contents in the disc? That is how
you normally can see the items in columns or lists.
There is a chance something may be amiss on the actual CD-R media, if it
has some strategic smudge or a few scratches, that could also affect how
the disc is read in a different computer at some later point in time.
Also, some optical drives may use a slightly different format, and while it should
not be a problem among Macs, if the format or disc type is not fully supported,
the content may appear missing.
Good luck & happy computing! -
Finder Not Showing All Files in Folder?
I have had this happen to me in Tiger before but in the past week or so I have come across two instances where Finder is not displaying all the files in a folder. On the first occurrence, I was moving files over from a samba share and for some reason Finder was not reading a few music files. Thus, those files did not get moved over, and just now I was reviewing some bank statements and one of the PDF statements I saved yesterday did not appear until I did a "killall Finder" in Terminal. Has anyone else experienced this? This seems to be a serious flaw that could bring about data loss issues.
Thanks,
James

Latest Mac OS X 10.5.1 build fixes Finder data loss issue
By AppleInsider Staff
Published: 04:00 PM EST
Apple Inc. on Monday continued to pound away at its first maintenance and security update to the recently released Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system, issuing a new test build to developers that fixes the much publicized Finder data loss issue.
People familiar with the ongoing testing process for Mac OS X 10.5.1 Update say the new build, labeled Mac OS X 10.5.1 build 9B16, was accompanied by a note to developers that specifically mentions a Finder-related fix affecting files that are moved between directories.
It was widely reported earlier this month that Leopard's Finder is affected by a glaring bug in its directory-moving code, which could lead to horrendous data loss if a destination volume disappears while a move operation is in progress.
Those people familiar with pre-release builds of Mac OS X 10.5.1 also added that the software update will deliver an enhancement to Leopard that will allow Apple's Software Update and installer applications to make revisions to application files which may have been moved outside their designated "Applications" directory on Leopard volumes.
As was the case with build 9B13, which was released for private testing last Monday, Apple is reportedly asking that its developers test the latest build broadly, paying particular attention to Time Machine, Mail, iCal, Back To My Mac, Bonjour, AirPort, gaming graphics, networking and the Finder.
Mac OS X 10.5.1 is expected to be released as a free update within a few weeks' time. -
In Lion 10.7.1 FIND not working right, not display all the files, in TIGER FIND works correctly.......any idea?????
Thanks for your reply. I have only had my new Macbook for a few weeks and do not have DropBox or GoogleDrive (or anything else) on it. It is a very weird problem.

Browsing for file in icon mode does not show all files and folders.
When in Illustrator and I select open, the preview pane does not arrange the files to fit the window size. This does not happen in list mode but in icon mode. I can't see all the files and folders because they are outside of the window and I can't scroll to the right to see them.
Yosemite, right?
Don't use anything other than list view. It's all buggy. -
Dock not showing all files in folder
I've just encountered a most bizarre thing - it may have happened when I finally updated to 10.4.10 a few days ago, using the combo updater, although I can't be sure.
My Dock appears to be arbitrarily limiting the number of files/applications it will display within a folder on the dock. I normally have both my Applications folder and my Documents folder in the Dock on the right hand side. Suddenly the last 20 or so applications in the alphabetical list of apps is missing (always from the same point) and about half my much larger Documents files are missing - from "N" onwards. I've tried trashing the dock .plist and restarting - which doesn't seem to do a thing, I've repaired my disk, which did have some minor errors, I've repaired permissions numerous times. I've tried some really big files of photos - same problem. They all only show 198 files exactly - that's it. Anything more, no joy.
This is something new - I didn't have this problem before and I can't find anything about this problem anywhere despite much searching. I can certainly try reapplying the combo updater, but wondered if anyone else has had any experience with this or any other suggestions?I ran the 10.4.10 combo updater again, repaired permissions, repaired and verified the disk, ran Onyx and deleted every cache under the sun, along with the .ds store files, stood on my head in the corner and muttered incantations, created and logged in under another user account and I STILL only get 198 files/items in any folder on the Dock.
I'm completely stumped.
And to make things even stranger - I have exactly the same problem on my MacBook Pro, also running 10.4.10. It is completely independent of the G5 - I haven't copied ANYTHING from one to the other in weeks. -
Why is this happening?
Sorry - I did finally find the App Support folder in my hidden Library folder, but for some reason since my address book crashed, it opens up blank now even though the address book file is there.
I even tried replacing with a backup I did a couple of days ago and it still comes up blank.
I am not iClouding, but I do use Bento, which does show the records. It's just that recently changes I had made to the address book file (via Bento) must not really have updated the system address book file (which Bento uses) because when I synced by iPhone the new changes did not show there.
In any case, my main problem is that Address Book shows no records even though I know they are there because the abcddb file is 9.8 MB (4000+) records.
Anyone have any ideas? Many thanks. -
Built-in FTP not showing all files
I have my 15" flat panel connected to a Topfield 7160 PVR by an ethernet cable. The Topfield has a built-in FTP server. So, using the built-in FTP (read only) facility in OS X Tiger, I can show the Topfield files on the Finder.
Recently, however, the FTP facility has not been accessing all folders on the Topfield properly. Some folders are shown as empty when they are not. When I disconnect and reconnect, different folders are shown as empty.
I have tested the Topfield FTP server with the Cyberduck client. Everything shows properly. So, there is an issue with the OSX Tiger FTP client and/or how it sends commands to the Topfield FTP server.
Does anyone know what the problem might be ?
Many thanks
GarryI think your second question is correct - I think I see more if I open up further down the tree. I'll have to do some tests with the Finder and my AppleScript. I'll search for more online regarding the file limit.
I know that being read only the OS X ftp client isn't fully featured. I wouldn't be surprised if there are limitations.
Many thanks.
