CS4 Bridge Opening Directory

Is there a way to configure Bridge to open with the last used directory? My Bridge opens to the directory it was on when I first saved my workspace and I would like it to open with the last used.

Do you have bridge set to launch at start up?
I do and have found that if you want it to open in your last used folder, you need to exit bridge before you shut down not just close it.
I think bridge should automatically exit at shut down making one less step for the user.

  • WinVista CS4 Bridge opening to PhotoShop problem???

I am doing a Total Training class on CS4 PhotoShop Essentials ... great class btw ... and instruction for Bridge says to double click on the file to open said file in PhotoShop. This doesn't work ... known problem??? I am using the latest updates as of yesterday in Win Vista.
    Any thoughts???
    Thanks,
    Sherry

This is definitely your problem. Have never played with the file association page so can't say for sure what to do. Might press "reset to default associations" as that is safe. If that does not correct it, suggest you look in knowledgebase search for file associations and see what they suggest.

  • CS4 Bridge opens 16bit, is resizing without input from me

Photoshop expert changed settings on me, Bridge now opens all photos in 16bit, I don't know how to change back to 8bit automatic opening like it used to be.  Now there is a new after three years of no such problem: I convert a 8x10 to 8 bit, change rez to 72 dpi from 240dpi, save it but when I reopen it it's back to 240dpi and a thumbnail size.  Cannot get size/rez changed.  Where do I start? 10.8 Mac equipment, these are all new problems with no changes I'm aware of.

When opening a Raw file in Adobe Camera Raw (that is the plug in that is
used by both PS and Bridge to convert Raw files) there is a small blue line
at the bottom of the window. Inhere is a menu where you can change the
setting back form 16 to 8 bit, also the default dpi setting can be set here.

You need to be a bit more specific inhere, do you use PS to change the
size?, can you describe exactly what you do to change it?

  • Bridge CS4 always opens in the same folder

Since I upgraded to Photoshop CS4, Bridge always opens in the same
folder. It used to open up whatever folder I was working on last.
There must be a setting somewhere to tell Bridge to open the last
visited folder but I can't seem to find it. Any ideas?

Thanks Curt. That helped. I do have Bridge set to automatically start with Windows. I thought that shutting down Windows would cause Bridge to remember the last visited folder since Bridge was closed but I need to right-click on the Bridge icon in the system tray and exit before shutting down Windows. At least now I know why this was happening!

  • Bridge CS4 only opens PS CS4 64bit -- How to change to 32 bit?

Opening a RAW file in Bridge CS4 automatically opens Photoshop CS4-64bit (via Camera RAW). Is there any way to have it automatically open the 32-bit version instead?

I'd like the option to choose EITHER the 32-bit OR the 64-bit version for RAW or for JPGs. It is not obvious how to do this.

I'm trying to open the CR2 files in Bridge to adjust them before I open them up in Photoshop, but it's giving me an error code saying it's the wrong file type. I downloaded the latest updates for Adobe Raw as well as the DNG converter, however I don't want to have to convert to DNG before opening in Bridge. Please let me know what I can do to open the CR2 files directly in Bridge CS4, thank you!

  • Is it possible to have cs5 Bridge open cs4 ai files actually in cs4 rather than opening them in cs5

I recently upgraded from mac cs4 to cs5.5. Due to a bug? with cs5 ai illustrator 'Pixel Preview' won't show 1 bit tiff files as it did in cs4 (the workaround is time consuming/wasting). This is a problem for me as most of my files contain them, GGrrrr. Is it possible to have cs5 Bridge open cs4 ai files actually in cs4 rather than opening them in cs5?

Is it possible to have cs5 Bridge open cs4 ai files actually in cs4 rather than opening them in cs5?
Yes, either set the file type association in Bridge prefs for 'ai' at CS4. But it seems somewhat difficult when having newer versions, sometimes whatever pref settings in Bridge or Finder/get info/ open with/you try it keeps opening in the latest version.
In that case either drag and drop the files on the CS4 icon in the dock or with right click mouse menu choose open with and select illustrator CS4.
Although you can only have one version of Bridge open at the time you can have the other suite applications from different version open at the same time.

  • How to get CS4 Bridge Photo Gallery into Dreamweaver?

I am a photographer who is new to Dreamweaver. I followed instructions and created a web gallery in Photoshop CS4 bridge. How do I get that into Dreamweaver???????????

    Open DW.
    Define your site.
    Close DW
Put all the stuff that Bridge spews out into site folder - without changing the file structure.
    Open DW
The tickiest part to this if you're new to it all, is defining your site.  After that, if you don't have a basice grasp of HTML and CSS Dreamweaver might just turn out to be a bit trickier yet.
If  you are not so sure about defining your site, Google it.  There are tutorials for it everywhere!

  • Organizer defect creates and leaves temporary files in the open directory.

I'm using Photoshop Elements 11 Organizer and Adobe Bridge CS6 concurrently.  If I have Bridge open to the same folder as PSE Organizer and I do an "Add captions ..." operation to a group of files selected in the Organizer, then there is a very good chance that PSE Organizer will rename one or more files to OriginalFileName_edTMP-1.extension and leave the renamed file in the directory rather than completing the update and returning the file(s) to their original name.  In most cases my original files are Nikon .nef files with .xmp sidecar files, but I've also seen this happen with .psd files.  The .nef files are generally large, averaging 35 Mb per .nef image and the .psd files are usually over 100 Mb.  If PSE Organizer and Bridge are open to different folders then Organizer does not leave the renamed file.  Thus I would suggest that there may be a logical threading error in PSE Organizer where it does not consider that another application may be monitoring the folder and also opening the files, which is what Bridge does when it discovers that a file has changed (the addition of a caption changes the file contents.)  This was also a defect in PSE Organizer 10.

I believe you missed the point.  And just for the record I have 40+ years of software engineering experience and do know something about data bases and application programming.  There is a defect in the Photoshop Elements Organizer and I suspect that one of the developers forgot to check a return code from an operation.  I also suspect that what happens is that the Organizer temporarily renames the file it wants to update, makes the update, and then intends or tries to rename it back to the original name.   But with Bridge running in the background and watching to see if there are any changes in the folder, Bridge sees the new file name and makes the file (or possibly the directory) temporarily unavailable to the Organizer as Bridge updates its information and the window display.  If the timing of the operations is just right, the Organizer can't access what it needs to and probably gets a failed return code from the rename operation.  If my supposition is correct, the code doesn't check this return code after the rename operation and just assumes that it took place.  The problem is clearly related to timing (race condition) and is more likely to occur on large files, such as 100+ MB Photoshop files.  Just for the record, I am not actually working with both Organizer and Bridge at the same time.  Bridge is running in the background.  I've learned to avoid the problem by pointing Bridge to a different folder when I do an update in Organizer.  I also realize that information that I might add in Bridge does not show up in the Organizer Catalog, but fortunately Bridge is smart enough to extract tags and titles that I've added with the Organizer once Organizer has written them to the files. The problem that I'm reporting is not an issue about what a user should or can do, it's about safe programming practices.  Adobe will decide if they want to fix it or not.

  • Problem with CS4 Bridge and Camera Raw

I just bought a Canon 5D Mark III and can not open the images in Camera Raw through Bridge.  I was told to upgrade the Camera Raw plug in.  I have 5.7.0.213 already and that is what I could find to download.  Can I upgrade the plug in into CS4 Bridge or how do I make this work.
Please, I need help with this soon.
    Thanks, Tom

Isn't there any other option?  I don't have a compter that can run CS6 and at the moment, upgrading compters and Photoshop isn't going to happen.  All I need is to upgrade the Camera Raw Plug-in.  There has to be some sort of work around for this.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Auto fill subject with an Email link in CS4 Bridge flash web gallery

Is there a way to autofill the subject line of the email link in the CS4 Bridge flab web galleries? I can do it if I use the html gallery, but I prefer the look of the flash galleries.
If I open the "group.xml" file I see code for me email link, exp.:  <contactEmail>maillto:[email protected]</contactEmail>
I tried adding the "?subject=My Subject" like I would on an html file but that didn't work. I was hoping for some suggestions.
    Thanks!

I want it to work on the click of a mouse: when I run or test the page the email comes up immediately. Here is what I have so far:
    navigateToURL(new URLRequest("mailto:mailto:[email protected]?subject=yoursubject&body=your message"));
    /* Mouse Click Event
Clicking on the specified symbol instance executes a function in which you can add your own custom code.
    Instructions:
    1. Add your custom code on a new line after the line that says "// Start your custom code" below.
The code will execute when the symbol instance is clicked.
    button_3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_MouseClickHandler_6);
    function fl_MouseClickHandler_6(event:MouseEvent):void
         // Start your custom code
// This example code displays the words "Mouse clicked" in the Output panel.
         trace("Mouse clicked");
         // End your custom code
So how do I get the email to open ONLY when the mouse clicks on the link??

  • CS4 Bridge Colour Issue.

Using my Canon 5D MKII, I shoot everything in RAW with the colour space set in the camera to Adobe RGB. Looking at the RAW files in Adobe CS4 Bridge, the Metadata file properties states that the Colour profile is 'Untagged'. Is that correct - or should it say Adobe RGB?
When you open up the RAW file in ACR, it states that the image has the Adobe RGB profile at the bottom of the screen and when it comes into PS, no profile mismatch warning comes up. Its only when you save the image as a PSD file when the metadata Colour Profile states Adobe RGB.
    Also...
Since moving onto Windows Vista, if I am displaying images in Bridge through a video projector, the colours look over-saturated, whilst images displayed in other applications look fine. This does not happen on my standard monitor.
Any ideas what might be causing this?

Ray, it will do a lot more good if you file an official bug report at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Be sure to describe the configuration in extreme detail.

  • CS4 Bridge, icon in place of image??

    Hi Guys.
I do hope someone out there can help to shed some light on the following problem I am experiencing in CS4 Bridge on my new Mac. The O/S on my Mac is Snow Leopard 10.6.6
My original mac continued to crash and therefore Apple swapped it for a new and up to date model, all the software has been loaded and appears to work ok except that in Bridge when I should see a preview of a Raw image, all I see is the "icon" symbol, a plain piece of paper with a lens aperture in the middle. I have checked all the preference settings with my old Mac and all appears to be ok.
I am currently using Canon 1Ds MK III and 1D MKIV cameras.
Can anyone please tell me how to rectify this matter?
I have been on to the Adobe Tech Support and all they continue to do is pass me from pillar to post. In fact the phone is currently on hold and has been now for in excess of 40mins??? At their cost, it's a ring back!!
    Many thanks in anticipation.

    Fotographic Images.

    Hi.
Thanks for your reply. In answer to your suggestions/questions, yes if I double click on the icon in bridge (where the image should be) the icon/image opens up correctly in the Raw convertor ready for processing. Your second question, have I downloaded plug-in V5.7 - Yes.
Today I have had three technicians on attempting to help me for approximately one hour each and then a techi teamleader for a further 1.5 hours, still no joy.
Adobe have promised to ring me back tomorrow which some new ideas and hopefully a solution!!!
One step we will be taking is to uninstall and reinstall the software completely.
    Any ideas/suggestions welcome.
    Cheers

  • CS4 Bridge appears to have corrupted my IPhoto 09 library !

I have MAC mini 10.6.8 Iphoto 09 and recently installed Adobe PS8 including CS4 bridge.
I accessed teh briedge and browsed to my master IPhoto library.
Now when I try and access the libraray through IPhoto I have at least the last year's photo missing.
I have no backup and these are irreplaceable.
    Lee

I accessed teh briedge and browsed to my master IPhoto library.
Don't know how you did that, bridge can't view the content of the library by default, it only shows the icon for library??
Now when I try and access the libraray through IPhoto I have at least the last year's photo missing.
If you have deleted files using Bridge they should still be in the trash, maybe you messed with the folders in the library and did move the year folder to an other location.
I have no backup and these are irreplaceable.
I'm sorry to hear that, don't think you should be in panic right now, there is still a lot to investigate, just don't empty the trash and try to investigate further.
For instance use the finder and select the iPhoto library, Then use right mouse click and from the menu choose show package content. Navigate through the files and find either the folder called Masters (or originals, believe they changed the name once)
Inhere should be different folders for each year containing a lot of subfolders. Copy (Copy, don't remove!) these folders to a new folder outside the iPhoto library and point bridge to this new main folder. Then in bridge go to the menu View and choose show items from subfolders and let Bridge cache. Then see what has been left of your files.
Also open the trash (click on on the icon in the Dock) and see if there is a folder with the year called or other files you recognize. Just drag them out of the trash to a new location.
In general, it is not a question of if your HD is going to die but when, they all die, some sooner then to be expected. Also the human factor is by far from trusted so always, (always!!!) make a back up of important files!!
And don't try to mix iPhoto and Elements/Bridge without learning more about this way of working, iPhoto uses a library with hidden files and creates a lot of spin off with different versions, thumbs sizes etc. they are by default not developed to work together

  • CS4 Bridge can't see CS3 Photoshop's ACR

Hi all, I have been using CS3 PS + ACR happily for the last year.  Yesterday I downloaded the CS4 trial packs for Dreamweaver, Flash, etc, and installed them, along with CS4 Bridge.
CS4 Bridge will send an image to CS3 PS but when I select "Open in Camera Raw" it tells me I have to "launch a qualifying product at least once to include this feature".
    Que pasa?
Fortunately, CS3 Bridge is still available, and still has all its cups in the cupboard; but it's rather inconvenient running both.
I would be grateful for any suggestions,
    John Ewing

    JohnEwing wrote:
I was chary of getting PS CS4 trial because I didn't want to break any CS3 license parameters in the registry if I let the trial period run out.
File associations are no problem, and ACR probably has no issues with Bridge unless they've made major changes to the interface, which I doubt.  I think it's more likely to be a simple question of one product seeing the other one's licensing rights in the registry.
There is an Adobe Clean Script which will remove all traces of the trial.   CS4 Clean Script.
I really think you'll get in a mess with versions mixed up like that!
There are major changes to Bridge and ACR and I really advise you not to get yourself and the computer in a muddle.
