CS4 Bridge wants me to reset prefs
I just switched to mac, though that probably has nothing to do with this...
About every 5th or 6th time I open Bridge, I get the launch interupted with a menu/error message that prompts me to select one of three troubleshooting tasks... reset prefs to factory, delete thumbnail cache (and one other)...
I don't really want to do any of these things, but clearing the cache seems the least invasive so I select it and the launch continues.
Can anyone tell me what is causing this problem? and whether or not I am really solving it by clearing cache?

You're probably (perhaps inadvertently) holding or pressing down on the Option key as you launch Bridge, maybe with your thumb or a foreign object (coffe mug, etc.).

No, you're not solving anything, just slowing Bridge massively as it has to build the cache from scratch every time.

All of a sudden, in my 8 free reports I have written and are in proofing stage to go to printer this week, my fonts appear to have gone bad. I deleted Myriad Pro and replaced it with a new one.
But, the document when I move pages, it looks like the font is about 1/4 the size of the page as I am moving the page.

Auto fill subject with an Email link in CS4 Bridge flash web gallery
Is there a way to autofill the subject line of the email link in the CS4 Bridge flab web galleries? I can do it if I use the html gallery, but I prefer the look of the flash galleries.
If I open the "group.xml" file I see code for me email link, exp.: <contactEmail>maillto:[email protected]</contactEmail>
I tried adding the "?subject=My Subject" like I would on an html file but that didn't work. I was hoping for some suggestions.

How can you save a customized Web Gallery in CS4 Bridge?
While trying out some the Web Galleries in CS4 Bridge, I have customized several using the customizing options. The info I type in is saved automatically but if I change from one gallery to another, all the customized choices for colors, etc., returns to the default version. Surely there is a way to save what I have input? Kind of ridiculous if you have to do this every time you want to make a gallery. Also, seems that some galleries have more customizing options while others leave those options off. Is this just a bad oversight by Adobe? In the HTML web option, anyway to have it list the file number/name below the image?
I was surprised that no one wanted to answer this question.

I'm experiencing the same trouble. Photoshop takes 5 minutes to open then runs fine.
I recently bought a new iMac AND updated to Adobe Master Collection CS6. My concern is that PhotoShop now takes 5 minutes to open. The Photoshop desktop pops up immediately, but the moment you click on a tool or try to open a file (no matter the size) results in the spinning wheel for five minutes before you can do anything. After that, Photoshop appears to work fine.
What I’ve done:
Ran Adobe updater
Reset Photoshop Preferences
Validated all fonts and removed any trouble fonts
Ran the font test
Set font preview size to none
Cleared the Photoshop type cache and system cache
Disabled Symantec Endpoint
Tried running with the GPU processor on/off and in basic
Tried opening Photoshop with optional third party plug-ins turned off (still took five minutes but this time I didn’t even get the Photoshop desktop view until AFTER the five minutes)
I’m wondering since I migrated the files form my old computer (and older versions of Master Collection) did something get corrupted.

I shoot with a Canon 7D, have Windows 7 installed on my computer, Adobe CS4 (Bridge & Photoshop). I'm trying to open the CR2 files in Bridge to adjust them before I open them up in Photoshop, but it's giving me an error code saying it's the wrong file type. I downloaded the latest updates for Adobe Raw as well as the DNG converter, however I don't want to have to convert to DNG before opening in Bridge. Please let me know what I can do to open the CR2 files directly in Bridge CS4, thank you!

Reset Prefs No Longer Works in CS5
I used to be able to reset prefs with the standard 3 key hold down CAS. No dice. 15 minutes trying gets no reset.
I see a manual process for earlier versions, but none for CS5, especially on Win7 64.
How do I get there, and how to reset reset prefs so it works?The culprit is...."Start Bridge at Log In"!
Yep! I checked Bridge CS5 on XP no problem, but I also noted that Bridge was slower, as one might expect. On Win7, it is instanta.....! Cripes! It's already started!
I unchecked the startup box and every thing (and body) is happy.
Now, if I can just remember this next time......

I am suddenly having a problem with CS4 Bridge causing my computer to crash (blue screen of death) whenever I attempt to use Bridge. I have contacted Adobe through their "support portal" several times over the past week and have receive no assistance whatsoever. I have also called their telephone support three times and was assured that someone would be in touch but have heard nothing. I am one week into this problem and am unable to use CS4 and bridge. I have uninstalled (complete cleansing) and reinstalled CS4 four times and the problem persists.
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I hope you've managed to solve the problem. But just in case i'll tell you that i had the same headache and i've solved (or worked around it) by enabling the Software rendering under the Bridge Advanced Preferences Tab.
The thing is that Bridge will work fine until you want to use the magnifying glass on the preview tab (it will ralentize a bit)... But, you can still make your thumbnails on the content tab bigger so you don't have to zoom in all the time except you need to view some tiny details on the file you are looking for.
That worked for me... and i didn't even tried any of the other solutions shown here... i'll hope that in time the nVidia drivers get updated soon and this problem will disappear. Unfortunately, to try and see if it is fixed you'll have to turn off Bridge's software rendering after updating the driver and then take the risk of another sudden reboot.

CS4 Bridge can't see CS3 Photoshop's ACR
Hi all, I have been using CS3 PS + ACR happily for the last year. Yesterday I downloaded the CS4 trial packs for Dreamweaver, Flash, etc, and installed them, along with CS4 Bridge.
CS4 Bridge will send an image to CS3 PS but when I select "Open in Camera Raw" it tells me I have to "launch a qualifying product at least once to include this feature".
Que pasa?
Fortunately, CS3 Bridge is still available, and still has all its cups in the cupboard; but it's rather inconvenient running both.

File associations are no problem, and ACR probably has no issues with Bridge unless they've made major changes to the interface, which I doubt. I think it's more likely to be a simple question of one product seeing the other one's licensing rights in the registry.
There is an Adobe Clean Script which will remove all traces of the trial. CS4 Clean Script.
I really think you'll get in a mess with versions mixed up like that!
There are major changes to Bridge and ACR and I really advise you not to get yourself and the computer in a muddle. -
Removing CS3 bridge, keeping CS4 Bridge...
I am cleaning out previous version of CS3 suite from a mac. However I've had some issues that I wondered if anyone has a solution to.
When running CS3 Bridge, images there are not in CS4 Bridge. There is no export feature I know of (is there?). How do I get everything that is in CS3 Bridge to CS4 to show up before I delete CS3 apps ? (this macbook pro I am using was loaded from CS2 days up to CS4...I have inherited it at work and need to make room but still keep images intact, plus I never used Bridge before so any noob help is appreciated)Bridge only creates preview thumbs for its own cache library and not the
original files, they keep untouched in the same folders as you have them now
on your system.
You can safely uninstall CS3 without losing images. However you will need to
cache the images again when opening CS4 but that is only taking some time.
You will need to recreate new workspaces for PS and Bridge and also set the
preferences again to your wishes but that is only once. Keep in mind that
actions and brushes that you have created or loaded on your CS3 app don't
copy automatically. Best you save them from PS CS3 first in a folder you can
easily access and in CS4 load them again from that folder.

CS4 bridge displays jpegs thumbnails only

Can someone who may have seen this problem or experienced a silimilar issue explain what is happening to CS4 bridge. I just installed PC version of CS4 photophop. It appears that in bridge, only jpegs thumnails will display. Tiffs and PSD files only show up as icons. Also the file association menu seems to have disappeared. Now if I log in as administrator , everything works properly. All thumbnails display correctly, assoication menu appears and bridge will update fine. Does anyone have an idea of what is happening here??
Joel FDid this happen recently, or has it always worked this way? If this is a new occurance some file may be corrupted and your best bet would be to reset Bridge. You can do that by holding down Crtl and starting Bridge. A reset window will appear, choose all 3 options.
One other point. If you are using Vista and an external drive there can be persissoning problems, but this does not seem like it should be one. -
CS4 Bridge corrupts DNG files?
I installed CS4 on a client's computer and several DNG file appeared to have changed from the CS3 Bridge and LR2 view. This horizontal banding looks like a psychedelic painted hacksaw blade!

I tried purging/rebuilding the Bridge cache and emptying the prefs in the Library. But so far it hasn't changed.

My Canon CR2 files that are also converted to DNG (in both CS3 and CS4) do not show such behavior and are all correct (CS4, OSX 10.5.5)
To me this looks like a problem during copy of the files. Have you also opened the files in Photoshop and did they looked the same with this banding? Have you tried the original NEF files again with converting to DNG? -

How do you find images in LR 2.4 that have been imported from CS4 Bridge and have been assigned a color label in Bridge? I have set both LR 2.4 and my CS4 Bridge to match the text for each color to be the same (eg. Green for green, etc), and the filter search in LR 2.4 shows that a label has been assigned, but I am unable to identify and locate the specific images in LR 2.4 that have had a color label assigned from CS4 Bridge. I have tried to search via attribute, metadata, text, etc...Is it necessary to re-assign color labels all over again, image by image, in LR 2.4, or is there a way to automatically have the color labels assigned in CS4 Bridge be assigned and searchable to the images after they have been imported into the LR 2.4 catalogue from the Bridge program?

I closed both programs and re-imported photos and re-tried the action of having LR read the XMP metadata from the CS4 files, and it seems to work now just fine...don't know why now and not before, but thanks much. Is there a way to have LR do this automatically upon import of images from CS4? I tried to do this with an import metadata preset, but no luck. It seems as if I can only do this once the images have already been imported into LR, and then to have to have LR read the metadata from the CS4 Bridge files. thanks gain.
