CS4: Can't import exported JPEG?

I'm pretty sure I have myself asked for this before, but why can't a JPEG I exported from InDesign be imported back in InDesign? It shows grey in import dialog.
I remember I have previously had this problem when trying to use InDesign exported jpegs in other programs, but it's InDesign itself also.
Only Photoshop recognizes and if I open/save, it's ok.

I can do this running CS4 on Win XP SP2. Not a problem.
Anything special running in background like a screen grabber utility or something?

  • How can I import only jpeg and not jpeg plus RAW into Photos on iPad?

I capture both on my camera.  I do post-shoot processing on computer (Lightroom/Photoshop) but want to see larger previews on iPad (the "new" version with retina display) than my camera LCD allows.  I am using the Apple hadware adaptor to load from an SD card.  The RAW files are taking up way too much memory on the iPad--it seems Photos imports both files at once.  I can't figure our how to tell it to import only the smaller JPEG files.
If there is a better App than Photos for this, please advise.  Note I will not be doing any serious editing on the iPad.
    Thanks,
    Doug

It doesn't matter what App you use it will copy all the photos from the SD card.
    But I have a workaround;
All you do is import your JPEG+RAW images using the camera connection kit.
Go to Albums in the Photo App, choose Change, Choose New Album, give name, choose Last import, choose Select all photos, choose Finish.
Now go back into the photos app and delete all the photos from your "Last import" Album. It will say that it is going to delete them everywhere but really it doesnt because it leaves the JPEG in the new album. The result is that you will only have your JPEGs that you imported in your camera roll and the RAW images get deleted.
First try out before you delete photos from SD card!

  • FCE 1.0.1 Can't Import "Original" JPEGs - FCE 3.0 Can !

Not a serious problem - just a puzzling quirk.
When I try to import JPEGs which have been produced by my digital camera, FCE 1.0.1 shows them greyed out and impossible to select.
However, if I make a copy (or in any way manipulate the JPEG) in Photoshop and save it, it shows up nice and black and can be imported.
FCE 3.0 works perfectly with either an original camera image or a copy.
Can anyone explain why FCE 1.0.1 behaves in this strange way?
What is the difference between the original and a copy? They are both JPEGs after all.
    Ian.

    Thanks Al.
I think this my be one of those mysteries like the Meaning of Life!
There seems to be no logical reason. The JPEGs from my camera are perfectly bog-standard and are recognised by everything including FCE 3.0 but 1.0.1 doesn't.
I tried to save the JPEG in Photoshop and it was still grey.
However if I use the "Save As" command the newly saved version can be imported into 1.0.1 with no problem. Somehow the "Save As" command must be imparting some subtle change in the format that 1.0.1 can detect.
This has no practical impact on my life because normally I will never use 1.0.1 for that - it's just that I don't like mysteries.
    Ian.

  • Can't import a jpeg file to iPhoto

    Hello,
I'm having trouble importing a jpeg file from another user to my iPhoto. We are both admins, file sharing is on for both users, read and write is on for both users. (I toggled file sharing on/off to see if it would update, and no changes).
In the file sharing, the shared folders are documents, pictures, and downloads folders. The jpeg file is filed on the desktop and in the pictures folder. When I do a File/Import to Library, and search for the jpeg file, it comes up greyed out.
My last option is that I emailed the jpeg from the other user's iPhoto to myself. I was going to go into my email and see if I could save the jpeg and try to import it that way?
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

Have you tried just dragging the file into the open iPhoto Library window? What version of iPhoto are you using?
What color mode (RGB, grayscale, CMYK, etc.) is it and what color profile is embedded (sRGB, Adobe RGB, Dot Gain 20%-grayscale, CMYK)?

  • ID CS4: Can file import options be forced?

I have a scripted ID Cs4 app that I am using to construct books that are made from a library of PDF files. The library has files coming from various sources and as a result all PDFs are not created with a uniform definition of bounding box. I have found that if I import my files with the "cropbox" option enabled, all is well. However, I have also found that it's easy for ID to be "reset" to use "boundingbox" as the means of import and this wreaks havoc on my layouts. Is there any way that I can force ID to use the cropbox method of import when I invoke it?

  • Can't print exported jpegs at photo printig shops

    Hi,
I am still using iphoto 2 (just lazy) and every time I export my photos as a jpeg to a cd the machines at the photo stores, kinkos, CVS, etc can't read the files. What am I doing wrong. I thought the jpegs were a universal format? The cd was burned so that it could be read on both a mac or pc. Any help would be appreciated.

I export my photos as a jpeg to a cd
I don't think you are... iPhoto can't export to a CD -- there is no such export option. If you burn a CD with iPhoto, then you're not "exporting" the photos; you're burning an iPhoto CD, and an iPhoto CD is useless at its destination without a version of iPhoto (the same version that created it).
If you use the "Export" item from the File menu, you can only export to a place on a mounted drive (e.g., a folder on the desktop). Then you would use the Finder (or Disk Utility) to burn a CD from the contents of the folder.

  • Can't import a JPEG: "video bit depth of this file is unsupported"

Re above error message when attempting to import into a Premiere CS6 project.  I used Media Info to inspect the file's properties as per below. All of the video in my project  is 8bit video. Any help is much appreciated..
    Image
    Format                                     : JPEG
    Width                                        : 1 306 pixels
    Height                                       : 979 pixels
    Color space                             : YUV
    Bit depth                                   : 8 bits
    Compression mode                : Lossy
    Stream size                              : 2.83 MiB (100%)

    Hi Jeff, thanks!!
I guess one cannot import cannot import a CMYK image in Premiere at all.
When I inspected the image in Media Info it ID'd it as a YUV and so I assumed that the imagwe was converted for use in a video that they'd created sometime in the past.
Is there even such a format as YUV for still images? Probably not even though Media Info ID'd it as such.
Anyway, Photoshop ID'd it as CMYK and when converted to RGB that did the trick!
    Thanks!

  • Can't import jpeg

I've imported a RAW file, editied in Lightroom and then edited in Elements 5. I notice that a psd file has been saved. Before saving in Elements, I cropped.
Problem is that I can't import the jpeg into Lightroom as it recognises the psd file and imports but no jpeg is imported as it may see as a duplicate?????
    Any ideas??

Do a search on duplicate file names--this is probably the most discussed negative feature of LR :)

  • How can I import the photos from dvd or hard disk?

    Hi!
How can I import/export my photos from dvd or hard disk??!

To what?    Are you having trouble with a DVD made by a particular device, or a hard disk that was on a particular computer, or is still in that computer, and communicating to your computer?  We don't have enough details to answer the question.    Are you trying to get photos into an iPhoto certain version, Photoshop certain version, just the Finder of a  certain version, or specific operating system on your Mac?    We need more details.  Is the DVD a standard DVD, such as is indicated on http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2446 or something non-standard?

  • Import/export route targets from E-BGP ?

    hi all,
    a newbie question again,
can i import/export rte target in a vrf from/to ebgp session,
in all my readings i only see samples from import/export with iBGP peering
    thanks for answer

Yes you can do it this way as well, without the MP-EBGP peering between the both AS's RR's. (You have missed the multi-hop neighbor statement)
This will achieve the RT exchange between the PE's, so next you will have to import that RT on the other side.
Once you have the RT with the routes exchanged you will have VPN labels as well populated for the routes on the remote side.
Now you will have to implement a method to assign an IGP label on top of the VPN label (this label should be for the PE's loopback of AS 100 who advertised this route to AS 200)
In your case, you can use the send-label command at the ASBR's for the IGP route of the PE;s in their AS' with a label. For this you can redistribute IGP into BGP and again BGP into IGP (with a route-map matching only PE's loopback in their AS and the remote AS).
So you will effectively have 2 labels to switch traffic between the AS's (IGP and the VPN label).

  • I edit my photos in Photoshop, save as jpeg then import back into iPhoto.  But if I add text to an image in Photoshop can't save as jpeg but as psd. Is there any way I can change to jpeg in iPhoto?

I edit my RAW photos in Photoschop CS3, save as jpeg then import back into iPhoto 11.  If I add text in Photoshop I can't save as jpeg but as psd.  Is there any way I can change to jpeg in iPhoto?

    Terence Devlin wrote:
Yes you can. But you need to flatten it as jpeg doesn't support layers.
While the final JPEG can't have layers, it is not necessary to flatten the original Photoshop file to create a JPEG. There are two ways to make a JPEG while not losing the flexibility of preserving layers, and they both flatten on the fly while saving.
I just tried this in Photoshop CS3 myself. When I add a text layer, and choose Save, the Save As dialog box comes up and defaults to PSD as was described. But... that is just the default! Go ahead and choose JPEG from the Format pop-up menu down below the file list. JPEG is in there. So what happens to the layers? Notice when you choose JPEG, the Layers box grays out and the "As A Copy" box grays out and is checked (i.e. you cannot uncheck it). What is going on here is Photoshop will gladly make a JPEG of your layered file, but it will force the JPEG to be a copy, so as to not overwrite the original layered file. This is good, because your Photoshop file with its editable text layer is preserved, and you get a JPEG copy to put in iPhoto.
The second way is, instead of doing Save or Save As, choose File/Save for Web and Devices. This will also give you a JPEG choice, and also create an exported copy. Because this way makes files for the Web, they will be smaller than JPEGs from Save As because they will lack built-in previews (which you don't really need these days) and other extra metadata that take up space.
Either way you get a JPEG you can toss back into iPhoto.

    Only by exporting.
The Export menu in Photoshop CS3 does not have any direct choices for JPEG.

  • Can't Import AAC file into Premier CS4

    Hello!
As the title says, I'm not able to import AAC files into my Premier Pro projects.  The funny thing is that these files were created in Premier Pro CS4, so what gives?  I took the audio out of a video and exported ONLY the audio in AAC format.  But when I want to import these files into a project, it gives me a file not supported message.  What am I doing wrong?

It says the codec is installed, so it should work no?  I mean, like I said in the OP, I created these files in Premier Pro.  I find it odd that I can't import files I created in the same program I used to export them.
I do agree that if you Export a file from a program, it should Import into that same program. That similar once did, but do not now, indicates that something has changed. Trying to find out what that is can be a bit time-consuming and can lead to dead ends.
I would try the Export again, but use PCM/WAV, to make sure that that method, format will work.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • No exporting Jpegs from CS4?

Is a windows bumpmap the only still image file I can export out of premiere CS4?
CS3 could do jpegs I am pretty sure.
I suppose it's not a big deal seeing as I can bring my .bmp files into photoshop and transcode them as jpegs....
Why is CS4 so gimped on image exporting?
    thanks,
    Peter

you can use AFTER EFFECTS if you want to export to PNG, BMP, JPG, TIFF, still image formats
