CS4, Cannot write text

I cannot write text on certain jpg images. Any help is appreciated.
CS4-64bit, CS4-32bit, and Elements behaves same. I tried on
Windows-7(64bit) and Windows-XP, but the symptom is same.
After opening the captioned jpg image, I click "Text Tool", then draw
rectangle frame by mouse. The right side pane tells that layer-1 is
created.
At this point, there is no cursor(caret) in the text box. Hitting keyboard
does not bring any letters in it. I have set colors and letter size as
visible.
After cliking "move tool", the layer1 indicator shows the text I typed.
But I see no text in the text box on the picture.
Versions of CS4 is 11.0.1 and Elements is 6.0 of Japanese.
The jpg file was created by my friend using a scanner. The picture
is displayed normally on those applications as well as other image
editing softwares.
FastStoen (an image editor) and other softwares can write text
on the picture. Several pictures he made behaves same, on the
other hand, pictures I created on my machine have no problems.
Do I miss any setting?

My friend uses Adobe Illustrator 10 (Japanese version). He cannot write text into any Illustrator object. He showed me how he does it
click on the Text tool
select a position in the data area
type a few characters, e.g. AAA
we see the cursor moving to the right, but nothing is displayed
My first suspicion was that either the font color was white (same as background), or that the opacity was set so that the text would be invisible. But both was not the case.
Any idea why Illustrator 10 cannot write text?
Is there an update available that would fix the problem?

What he has shown me was always a new document; the font size was something like 24 - easily visible. I will check the type face later today - possibly a Japanese font.

How come sometimes I cannot write text in a blank message box, nor can I write text opening an email and hiting forward and then wanting to add a short text note. I've notice this happens sporatically. What gives?

I tried to reply to an email and could not write a reply in the response box. I could not even attach a file. So I tried opening a new message box and I still could not compose a message. It appears there is an error the coding. Please fix it a soon as possible. This happens to be my lifeline.

I ended up doing some more experimentation and I did fix the bug you pointed out. When this didn't solve the problem I started to look at other files. It turned out that my .bash_aliases file was the real culprit. The offending line was:
alias su='su -l | cd ~/' # invokes a login shell then changes to root's home directory
I fixed the issue by changing that line to read:
alias su='su -l ' # invokes a login shell then changes to root's home directory

It's a bug striking in long documents.
Select a word somewhere higher in the page then use the arrows to reach the wanted insertion point.

Happy to report that iTunes Match has returned to working like normal on iTunes 10.7 on my computer today. If any iTunes engineers read this thread, I really appreciate the fix.

Those Xtras can wreak to much havoc when used with the wrong
intent.
What you can do is write with setpref and store a list of
saves and the
saves itself seperatly. Then you'd have to build your own
save/open
dialog to let the user:
* pick a previously saved file to load or overwrite
* have the user type the name of a new file to save.
Only thing that remains is that the user cannot decide where
the files
are saved.

Hi Arch community!
I noticed I have this problem and not sure when in started. Several months ago I bought and installed new videocard "GeForce GT 630". Right after installation I lost sound in the system. Having internal sound card (in mainboard) and SB Audigy2 (PCI), I searched for solution and found I had to disable "snd_hda_intel" module to restore sound to work through PCI sound card. Did it.

After that sound was working as it should. And I noticed recently that during playing of any sound file the sound interrupts. If run VLC from CLI I get "alsa audio output error: cannot write: Broken pipe" message. And my system hasn't been upgraded since I don't know when. I still ran Firefox 26. So googled again and found it's a bug in a kernel or somewhere else.

I ran a system update last night, and this issue appears to have been corrected.

And so I thought upgrade would fix my problem since mainstream bug is fixed. After upgrade sound interrupts again, maybe even more often.
Do you guys have this issue and does anyone have a solution?

Not particularly wise to blacklist the module, since it probably is also used by the integrated sound card. With vid and pid you could just disable the nvidia card alone using parameter enable=0. Unless you do not mind having both disabled.
Where do I need to input "enable=0"? When I was searching for solution to make my Creative card work with new nVidia card I installed, the only way I found was blacklisting the module.

How do I add text from an input text box from flash to a text
(.doc) file when you press an OK button. I want to make the button
have an:
on (release) {

Lets say the URL is "/scene_detail.doc". I can also use .txt
files, but I'd much prefer someone to tell me how to do this with
DOC files. Thanks in Advanced!

Flash cannot write files. You must have some sort of
serverside script do
this, something like ColdFusion, php, asp, perl or cgi.

Cannot write some characters

hello..
i wanted to write the characters of Shift JIS into the file but there data that cannot be correctly read
by the nodepad (i guess) or perhaps i am doing it all wrong.
I have a byte array that contains : 00 to 1F, these codes has an equivalent Shift JIS characters.
when i assign some other values say, 41, it is correctly displayed.
is this possible?
here is my code snippet.

Could you explain what you are trying to do? Why are you trying to write bytes when you want to write
text?Actually, i want to dump char into the file in SJIS encoding, and i just let the application (say NOTEPAD) do the reading of that char. Below is my code snippet.

Oh? How do you do that? And what makes you think any
program is going to read an "txt" file and pay
attention to it. txt is just a plain text file, it
has no header, so there's no way to specify the
encoding.
When you write a file with a specific encoding (by
telling OutputStreamWriter), you are just writing the
characters in that encoding. It doesn't write what
the encoding is into the file, and there is no 100%
sure way to tell what any file's encoding is. Guess
can be made, but that's it. What are you doing?i see.

Hello, make sure you have created a path (and not a custom shape) on an empty layer, then you should be able to type on it.

Nokia c3-00 cannot write a new message after firmw...

My problem afther update to firmware v8.63 is that i cannot write a new message
Shortcut <- keypad (pressing left directon on keypad)
or when i go to MENU>MESSAGES.NEW MESSAGE then nothing happends
i can reply or send a new message to someone by the replying option and changing target number, or using the call log but its quite anoying, and 2 social icons in menu.
i have already tried
1. reset to factory settings - FAILED to fix problem
2.reinstaling phone update - FAILED to fix problem

you need to do a master reset on the phone but before you do that make sure to backup you files without the settings and applications on your comp using the ovi suite bec master reset will remove eveything that you have on your phone memory. after the backup dial this code on your phone *#7370# lock code 12345. if your phone is turned on again try now to send a new text message. if it will allow you now, restore now you backup file but dont include the settings.

After installed Lion, cannot type text "TM"

Ever since upgraded to Lion, on Outlook email, I cannot type text "TM", everytime I key in TM, the font AUTO becomes smaller font and TM appears like Trade Mark font.

I'm having a similar problem with Pages I just purchased in the App Store. I can have only one doc open at a time--otherwise, it just ignores either keystroke or cursor direction to open a new window or open an existing file. This is wasting my time! Mid 2007 iMac SSD in optical bay - cannot write to last block of device

Hi All,
I've just replaced my optical drive in my 20" mid 2007 iMac (Dual core, 2.4 Ghz, 2 Gb RAM running Mavericks) with a solid state drive (Crucial MX100). The plan is to transfer my boot disk to this drive while keeping my 1 Tb HDD for media and such.
I followed the ifixit guide and it all went smoothly, however when I try to partition or erase the new SSD using Disk Utility, it tells me "Operation failed - cannot write to last block of the device". After googling, I found some answers here that suggested the optical bay cable may be faulty, so I bought a replacement and swapped it in, but no such luck, same problem. I also saw some threads suggesting that the boot disk should be in the original hard drive spot, but since this isn't the boot disk (yet) this shouldn't be the issue.
My computer recognizes the new SSD but won't allow me to partition it. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Lots of problems with that hybrid drives on Mac's on these forums, get another one that's 7,200 RPM and from Western Digital, not Seagate.
With a 7,200 RPM you get more performance across the entire drive, not just what's cached in the small flash portion of the hybrid.

2. The OP is not using a Hybrid.

I found the solution by following the advice given on the following forum:

In fact, I crushed the BI4_Audit.db and BI4_Audit.log files and I replaced with others that I got from another machine where I installed BO again and where the files are not corrupted . After I logged in to the CMS database by executing the command in the command line:
dbisql -c "UID = DBA; PWD = mypassword; BI4 Server =; DBF = C: \ Program Files (x86) \ SAP BusinessObjects \ sqlanywhere \ database \ BI4_CMS.db."
Once connected, I start the command:
alter database 'C: \ Program Files (x86) \ SAP BusinessObjects \ sqlanywhere \ database \ BI4_Audit.db' alter log off;
The query runs successfully.
And that's good, I can be connected to BO smoothly.
