CS4 capture issue in Vista 64 bit

My captured files have poor video quality: when the video is playing in either the source window or the program monitor I can pause the video and the still image is crisp and very good resolutuion, when I start playing the video the image becomes slightly blurry and poorer resolution.
Source of clips: on a miniDV tape recorded as DV SP.
Clips captured via firewire on a Sony M15U deck.
Computer is spec'd ok, and is Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

Adobe premiere pro cs4 capturing issue.

The camera that I have is a sony hdv cam £1200, my pc is a quad core system with a firewire port on the back of the motherboard (new system). My friend who used it previously used it on his apple mac and had no problems in capturing. This is the first problem, I plug in the firewire cable with no notification of new hardware installing(dont know if there usually is). I load up cs4, hit F5 and it states that the device is offline. The settings on the camera, as far as i can see, are all setup aswell as well as the preferences on premiere.

I'd suggest starting a new thread, so as to not get folk confused on your particular system and issues. Heck, I have trouble not being confused with but one system.
When you do post, the more info that you can provide, the fewer questions that will be asked. This ARTICLE will give you some tips. In your case, you would add all necessary info on your camera too.

Ffdshow and CS4 capture issues

I've had my CS4 software and new computer now for almost 4-5 months but haven't used premiere pro yet (it's not actually a part of my job!). I went to capture some video today to discover that the software wasn't recognizing my Sony DCR-TRV950 via FW400. Turned off and on again, and the computer itself recognizes the camcorder, and the camcorder recognizes that it DV connected.
A few more fiddles (turning camera on and off, and then noticing that when I do, it is recognized by the computer and the "Digital Video Device" window popped up asking what I want windows to do with the detected device. So I know that the firewire cable is not defective.
I chose the "Edit and Record Video using Adobe Premiere Pro" option, and everything kinda froze up and a dialog box came up that stated:

I didn't know what exactly to think so decided to chose that I'd not use ffdshow just the one time and the program froze. I've tried it through the Media Import function pictured above (a Roxio disc burning software) and through Windows Movie maker and the same thing happens each time.
I did try one time to "Use ffdshow. (just this once)" and the program still froze.
While video editing is not essential to my function here, it is something that would benefit the job and make my life happier overall - and also mean that we can actually use the software we purchased! Any help would be appreciated.
System:
XP Pro
Version 2002, Service Pack 3
2 internal hard drives, C: =130gb, the other is 230gb

With a little more research I discovered that this ffdshow is part of the klite decoder pack, which I believe was installed when I asked my IT department for a way to watch DVDs I'd made that weren't playing on my new computer. They weren't working on windows media player (they had before, so I'm not sure why they weren't now), so they installed Media Player Classic, which looks like is a part of the klite decoder pack.
Unfortunately my video editing expertise is on a mac (work won't spend the money for a mac, nor will IT support), so sometimes I feel very much in the dark.

Premiere Pro CS4 capture issue: no black??

Hi... I've been working with Premiere for a while with great success, but the latest video that I'm trying to capture has an issue - some sort of colour channel problem. I'll attach a pic of what the video looks like.

CS4 PS crash in 64 bit Save for Web but not 32 bit - help!?

Anyone got any ideas please on how to stop Photoshop CS4 crashing on Save for Web in 64 bit version of Windows 7?
Running Windows 7, 64 bit Pro with both 64bit and 32bit versions of Photoshop CS4 installed.
The problem: I design a website, add slices etc as I've done for the last 10 years, go to Save for Web and as the dialogue box is opening and the blue bar at the bottom starts to show it loading, it gets just over half way and then crashes, saying the error message 'Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working'. No solution available and then closes. Does this quite a few times (say 20-30%) of the time but not always. Tried the same PS document running 32bit version of Photoshop CS4 and it saves for web fine, never any crashes, only using the 64 bit version of PS. Need 64bit to take advantage of extra memory etc and one of the reasons the machine/ software combo was bought for.
Running a brand new (well about a month or so) Dell T3500 dual Xeon W3505, 12gb ram, Nvidia Quadro Fx 3800, Raptor HD etc built to run Win 7 Pro and CS4 Extended. I suspect the spec isn't to blame, checked all the hardware etc, no plugins that arent standard with a new install, so no obvious reason I can tell of as to why its not working. Not much else installed and started playing up before I installed other bits of software so doent make sense it might be other software cauing any problems.
Put a support query in and basically got told CS4 wasnt tested with 64 bit CS4 and directed to a possible support solution to 64 bit running on xp/ vista with general advice. No use whatsoever.
Firstly, anyone else having the same problem? Secondly, anyone know how to solve this? If its any help, I've pasted the Action Center info on one of the many crashes:

The graphics card supports the new GPU features but tried with and without those turned on - still the same problem. Tried all sorts of preferences on and off but still no joy.

Been reading up on that c0000005 error and in all the Operating systems it is a access violation. There are a lot of hits about windows 7 and software not being allowed local access and be saved that way too. What I think is that windows 7 is not allowing it for some reason in 64 bit mode or some security setting in the local needs adjusting?
I found this interesting fact
I was reading where testors were monitoring how windows 7 firewall allows DRM to run in the firewall. All the software they tested asked first for firewall permission (my software on my system asked first so know it is true on my other system). However, according to the testers, with PS CS4 the DRM does not ask to run with firewall premission. Windows 7 just bypasses the asking part and PS CS4 DRM gets firewall access.

Dreamweaver CS4 strange issues happening

Suddenly when I do a find and replace and I do a carriage return in the replace portion of the find/replace window to make my edit go to an extra line, the carriage return occurs behind it on the page I'm editing. It doesn't add a <p> tag in the document, just kind of highlights what I have in the find window and each time I hit Enter the next instance of the what I'm trying to find gets highlighted.
Also, when I try to add <strong> tags to my document this appears on the page instead <strong>
What the hell?
I tried recreating my configuration folder (I'm on Windows Vista) but it still happens.
Any ideas??

This may help!
Uninstall the Beta Version of Photoshop CS6 now and then restart your computer and see if that works.
Open the CS4 programs and see if that fixed the problem and it is all working as it should again.
It is worth a try!

Web Premium CS4 Installation Issues

I've been trying to install Web Premium CS4 on my Windows Vista Home Premium computer and keep getting a "setup error->contact customer support" message every time i click the install button, it happens almost immediately. Seeing how customer support isn't available on the weekend i figured i should post my problem here. This is my first time installing any Adobe CS product, so there shouldn't be any conflicting programs on my computer. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Problem FIXED!
Round one with Adobe:
I called Adobe once in the morning and discussed how could fix my setup error message and actually install Web Premium CS4 on my computer. They told me the usual such as turn off my antivirus software, mess with msconfig and restart, turn off UAC everything i have already tried but i did it again just to see if by magic it would work, but alas, it did not. Then Adobe told me there was pretty much nothing they could do and to call my computer manufacturer. So i had a conversation with DELL and they basically told me to contact Adobe again....by this point i have spent over 3 hours making phone calls, and it's becoming very irritating. So i think to myself, i'm calling Adobe again and if they can't help me today with this problem i want a refund because it just not worth all this crap. My morning is gone and now my afternoon is about to be, also, i've restarting my computer what feels like 20 times, that can't be good for it.
Round two with Adobe:
I call Adobe again, have another hour plus conversation with them but this time they were much more helpful and they gave me a customer number(why they didn't do that the first time, i'm not sure)and a case number. What i ended up doing was running CS3 cleanscript(i didn't have any previous Adobe software on my computer but they still told me to run it) on my computer about 6 times, then they directed me to microsofts website to download something random for my 32bit Vista machine which checks my machine and made sure certain javascript.dll and vgscript.dll files were running. Also Adobe had to take care of some registration issues on there end. And BAM! problem fixed. And now i have Adobe Web Premium CS4 on my computer and so far so good. Anyways, for everyone who is getting the "setup error-please contact customer support", you need to do exactly that because they had me doing some things to my computer which the average person wouldn't know how to do.
So basically what i'm saying, don't waste time like i did(i was forced becaue it was the weekend and Adobe support is closed) and restart your computer 20 times changing this and that crossing your fingers hoping it will work. Adobe should be able to help. They were not helpful the first time around but the second time i called(the same number) it was almost like i dailed a completely different number and unlocked the "real" Adobe because the experience was completely different.. So call them multiple times if you have too because it seems like it will be a different experience each time. So basically it was a 4 hour ordeal that i hope to never go through again. So goodluck!

Premiere CS4 capture screen won't open

I was capturing video from mini DV tapes. after 7 tapes of capture, Premiere CS4 capture screen wouldn't open. I had the thing working fine and for some unknown reason the capture screen quit opening. .I've tried restarting the program restarting the computer, I've clicked on the file drop down menu and clicked capture, I've pressed f5.... NOTHING IS WORKING! ARRRRH!!!! Any hep will be appreiciated,?

I also have this problem, I got around it by using video DVD maker (http://www.protectedsoft.com/) (chose the 'capture' option) and then editing the avi in premier (cs4). This works fine.
A little additional info on my problem:
I am also using mini DV tapes and capturing through a USB, using windows vista 32bit. I do this every day and it has been fine for a year, but suddenly one day it didn’t want to. At first the capture window would open but 'capture device offline' would show, even with the mini dv plugged in and switched on, tape running/paused/stopped. After clicking on the window, it would then turn black, then white and then freeze. Trying to close the capture window by clicking the red 'x' would crash premier, prompting window's 'this programme is not responding' window that meant that a crash report would not be generated.
As I have said before the usb cable and mini dv are fine as I have successfully managed to capture through another programme. I have also since run the adobe updater which has updated all my adobe software. I have restarted the programme, computer, opened old projects, started new ones and all have not been successful in making any change in the capture crash.
I remember this happening on my old laptop, and it was solved by just waiting for the programme to respond after 5-7mins. I guess this was to do with the computer being low spec. However This same waiting game does not have any effect on my current laptop, I have waited for 30mins and thought that was enough, the current computer I am using has been absolutely fine for about a year, so why the problems suddenly?
Only things I can think of that have been changed recently on my laptop are: re-install of windows service pack 2, firewall modifications.
However the rest of the premier programme works fine, rendering, effects, exporting etc.

CS4 still running as *32 bit in Windows7 Home Premium

I just installed W7 Home Premium and couldn't wait to get home and run Premier Pro to see it work in 64 bit.
What a disappointment! Checked task manager and it's STILL stuck in *32 bit.
How do I fix this so it runs at 64 bit?
(apologies if this has already been answered - I can't find what I need anywhere)

As far as I'm aware, only Photoshop CS4 has a native 64 bit version. Win Vista and 7 64 bit will run 32 bit progams perfectly fine anyway.

Photoshop CS4 only installed in 32-bit version??

I bought Adobe Photoshop CS4 (Extended) 2 years ago. It was the disc-based copy for Windows. I recently got a new computer (now with 8GB ram and a 64-bit OS) So I instaleld PS CS4 the other day, and I now just realized that there is no 64-bit exe of the program. It only installed a 32-bit executable. It never asked me during install either if I wanted to choose the 32-bit or 64-bit version.
Does PS CS4 not have a 64-bit version? Or did I not get it? What's going on here?

There was a 64-bit version of CS4 for Windows but not for the Mac. You might browser the DVD and see if you can find a 64-bit installer. I don't have my DVD handy to tell you where to look.

Issues with 64 bit win 7 clients printing from 2008 R2 print server

Hello All,
I have a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 64 bit server built with a print server role. My issue is 64 bit win 7 clients cannot add a new printer. The clients see the printer in the list, starts the printer installation, get to the point of downloading the
driver & then fails ' Windows cannot connect to the printer. ' the error is 0x0000012 or 0x000003ee. Any way I try to add the new printer I get the same result. The only way I can get the printer added is to do a local printer with the full path \\servername\printer_name
and then "have disk" and point to the driver folder on the print server to get the printer added.
Anyone have any thoughts on why the 64 bit clients will not add a new printer from a 64 bit print server ?

Please check if you can ping the print server successfully from this Windows 7 client computer. Did you encounter
the same issue when add other printers? Or just for this one printer?
Please type
regedit on Run to open Registry Editor and follow the path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\Connections and check if there has existent printer connection on the registry key.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.

Dreamweaver CS4 having issues after installing PS CS6 Beta

Hi All,
I'm having issues with Dreamweaver CS4 after installing Photoshop CS6 Beta. I'm getting the follwing erros when trying to open any html file (see attached image).
Once I click OK, the file will open, also now; any copy and paste commands will not work. Anyone else experiencing any problems with other apps after installing this beta version?

HV20/FCP6/FW Problems/Capture Issues/WTH?!?!?!?!?!

Hello everyone. I have a Canon HV20 that was working fine for a day or two while I was capturing both HDV and DV footage from MIni DV tapes. I opened the log and capture window after changing tapes and BAM! it said it couldn't find the deck.
At first, I set the app up just like the Apple site said, and everything worked perfectly, even when dumping DV footage. Cameras setting never changed from factory default. Now this, and what's worse is that my computer won't recognize the FW device. I do have a G-tech plugged in as well, and with no HV20 the computer recognizes it in the FW800 port, but as soon as I plug in the HV20 the computer doesn't recognize anything though the drive still operates.
I get this from FCP:
"Device is not connected or the capture preset is not setup correctly. You may still log offline clips.
This might also happen if you play DV footage in an HDV device."
I get this from System Profiler:
"FireWire Bus:
Warning: Unable to list FireWire devices.
Maximum Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec"
If your advice is to purchase a new 17" MBP, I just might since i have had it with this POS right now.

Assuming the your FCP6 setup has not changed:
Canon cameras do not play well with other devices (hard drive for example) on the same FW bus. My son had capture issues with a Canon HV30 and G-Raid 2 on a 2007 Quad Mac Pro.
The work-around:
Capture to an internal drive and move the media to the external, switch scratch disk, and reconnect media. (not ideal).
The "fix":
Purchase a FW card for the MBP Express card slot and connect one of the FW devices to it. (Each device on different FW Buses.

Macam or Parian cause capture issues???

Hello all - I've been having capture issues with my HDV stuff (Crashes during capture - I posted the details under 'Crash under HDV log and Capture' if anyone can help me out with that issue and this is slightly related...
People elsewhere say that Macam or Parian can affect Final Cut - any experiences with that? any other programs that I should avoid that could negatively affect my fcp performance?

I'm using FCP7 on Snow Leopard.
Any idea as to what could cause fcp to crash during capture (HDV to ProRes) if it's worked more then a dozen times prior??? Any other programs could affect such things? Nothing has been installed or changed on my system in over a month.
