Cs4 compatibility....

I have a FLASH .fla file, which a friend made with flash
cs4...i have tried opening it with dreamweaver 8 and also Flash 8,
but I get an 'unexpected format' error message...so he sent me a
FLASH video which i can load into DREAMWEAVER 8, yet only as a
playable video, with no chance of editing, which renders it
useless...
do i need cs4 to edit a .fla designed with cs4** would cs3
do*** and if dreamweaver knows its an flash file and can play it,
why cant the DW or Flash 8 open it for editing****

You need Flash CS4 to edit a Flash CS4 file. You could have
it saved as a Flash CS3 file in Flash CS4 and then use Flash CS3 to
edit it.
Unless they've done something I never knew about, you cannot
edit a Flash file using Dreamweaver

Yes...lots of folks at Adobe. And since they haven't released any information, you'll need to wait like the rest of us.
Also, before I buy is there any compatibility issues with Windows 7 x64 and CS4 Design Premium?
    Thanks,

Now...that I can help you with. CS4 is fully supported under Win7 in both 32 and 64 bit. I have the full master collection here and everything runs just fine.

  • PS CS4 Compatibility With Mac OS X Spaces

I'm using Photoshop CS4 with Mac OS X version 10.5.5, and I can't seem to have different Photoshop documents (different windows) open in different "Spaces". I have no problem doing this with other applications. Is this a known issue with Photoshop, or is it the intended behavior?
Thanks for any help or insight you can provide,
    -Steve

    @Ramon:
    this means:
if you would work with the actual mac os, you have to use a old creative suite.
if you would work with the actual creative suite, you have to use a old mac os.
i am using a actual mac too :-) (mac pro intel)
so i have to downgrade to a older system, because adobe isnt able to do, what all other programmers can do? i dont believe this!
because i would use the actual os x and the actual creative suite, my question is another one.
why can support all other NON-APPLE-applications spaces and why can CS4 not. this question is not answered in this thread.
CS4 is the most expensive application on my mac and shows the worst compatibility of all applications.
for me, CS4 is not a app, i use sometimes. i used it several hours every day.
its no argument for me to say: we would not support the actual version of the operating system we develop for.

  • Is Adobe CS4 compatable with Lion?

Before I install Lion, I would like to find out what software is compatable, especially CS4 (photoshop illustrator InDesign, etc)

There is a link on the Adobe site that says something about 'they are working closely with apple' blah blah blah.  Are you using 10.7.2?  or 10.7?  I'd like to upgrade to a new MBPro but need to know if my software is going to work on it.  Anyone know if the .2 update has fixed the problems with CS4?  Thanks.

  • InCopy SC5 and InDesign CS4 compatibility

    Hello,
I’m on an older Mac G5, 10.4.11 and I am running CS4. The editor I work with is on a new iMac, 10.6.3 Intel Core I3 with InCopy CS5.
I’ve set-up my InDesign assignments for the editor to edit in InCopy.  My only options when creating the assignments were to save as CS3 or CS4. I’ve saved the assignments in CS4. The editor in InCopy isn’t able to see the layout view on some of the assignments/stories and also isn’t able to make any changes in any of the different views.
When she tries to “check out” the file she is prompted with this message, “Unable to lock the following files:Workshop:PRODUCTION:INCOPY-INDESIGN EXHANCE:2010 Magazines-InCopy:HE10 Fall-InCopy:Celebrating 25years-Hiring .icml.”
The InCopy files are located on a server we both can access. I’ve made sure that her username is correct when I assigned the files.
My questions are could this be a server issue because the InCopy assignments are saved on a server and there is a problem with her username or password or could this be a compatibility issue between InDesign CS4 and InCopyCS5?
    Please help,
    spoimme

The main problem is that you're on CS4 and the other person is on CS5. These applications were not meant to be used that way.
You'll need a new computer to upgrade to CS5 for this work successfully (CS5 is Intel only). But I would also suggest that the editor run the CS5 7.0.2 patch which was released this morning and does address some issues that might be at work here.
Even it does, you need to be aware that because of text engine changes you will not likely be able to get a true indication of copy fit from one person to the other.

  • Media Encoder CS4 - compatability

    Hi,
I'm not a Premiere user - but this seemed the best place to post about the Media Encoder.
I use Design Premium CS4 on a Macbook Pro - I have just updated my firmware and now cannot use Media Encoder.
    I am running OSX 10.5.8
When it was installed - i was told that i could no longer open the Encoder because it is "not supported on this architecture".
    I've downloaded the latest update - AME_All_CS4.0.2.
I cannot find another more recent update.
When trying to install the update - I'm told "cannot install the update"
I use the media encoder to convert MOVs to FLVs.
Any suggestions/help on my compatability problems would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks
    Matt

There have been several instances, such as you describe, on the forum lately. Do not recall any exact resolutions though. I'd seach for "green flashes," as that exact phrase has been used in many.
On the PC using the latest version of QuickTime the exact same video stutters and flashes green.
Is this with QT 7.6.2? Many had major issues with the QT 7.4.x versions and Adobe software. The QT 7.5.5 version seemed to fix most of those, but another user was having issues with it very recently, and there have been some, who have also had issues.
It seems that QT will work with Adobe products for a bit, and then the next upgrade, or two, will fritz up the whole works.
Wish this was not such a "moving target."
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • CS vs. CS3 vs. CS4 - compatability?

We are a small non-profit in Portland, Oregon and currently own copies of CS and CS3.  We need another work station with the Adobe Suite installed and are, therefore, considering purchasing CS4.  As we need to continue to use the existing installations of both CS and CS3 our question is around compatability (we can not afford to upgrade all computers to CS4....and CS4 is what is available through an Adobe discount program for non-profits).  Does CS4 provide backward compatability?  Are there any issues with CS4 being able to open/edit CS or CS3 files?  Other issues we should be concerned about?
Any help y'all can provide would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Depends on the application. The big bottleneck is InDesign which can be saved back via INX but using this for roundtrips is not a good idea since the text engines are a bit different between versions.
Illy can be saved as CS3 and Photoshop should be okay as long as you stay away from new features.

  • CS4 compatibility with latest OSX

Is CS4 compatible with OSX Mountain Lion? Or now the OSX Maverick?

    Hi Oldpops,
This is the compatibility issue with the Yosemite and legacy version of Illustrator.
You can check these threads, There are some workaround mentioned for the same issue.

You can also try uninstall and reinstall.
You can also try to install an older version of Java Runtime.

  • CS3 or CS4 compatibility with Mountain Lion?

Will CS3 or CS4 run on a Macbook with Mountain Lion?

    Hi there
You shouldn't have any problems using CS3 or CS4 on Mountain Lion, according to this Adobe blog: http://blogs.adobe.com/photoshopdotcom/2012/08/osx-10-8-mountain-lion-released.html

  • CS5 to CS4 compatibility ?

    Hi,
Is it possible to open a file saved in Photoshop CS5 64-bit to Photoshop CS4 ?
    Thank's

Not in the same way.. so they may get changed when going backwards. For the most part Photoshop files are pretty backwards compatible for all versions. Even if a new feature must be adjusted for an older version, the image still comes through. It's only when doing heavy editing that you shouldn't expect all the new features to work the same if you open an image in an older version.

  • Is Adobe CS4 compatable with a mac 10.5.8?

I'm having troubles opening up Ai with my Mac 10.5.8. I open it and click File>New and the screen is still blank with occasional pop-ups about "plug-ins." Not quite sure what to do. Should I uninstall?

Maybe something went wrong when installing
So you should uninstall, run the clean script and then reinstall:

  • Adobe Drive - CS4 Compatibility?

Is Adobe Drive 3 compatible with Creative Suite 4, or is Adobe Drive 2 the latest to support CS4?  I don't care about Version Cue support, just support for Drive integration with CS4 versions of Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.  Thanks,

Adobe Drive 3 doesn't supppot CS4 versions of Illustrator, Photoshop, etc, Adobe Drive 2 the latest doesn't support them either

  • Illustrator CS4 compatibility question

    Howdy,
First time posting to the Adobe forum(s).  I recently took over software purchasing and
have a request for Illustrator CS4.
The End User is asking:  "Can you confirm with the rep that Illustrator CS4 is compatible
with documents produced with InDesign and Photoshop versions CS2?"
I've been digging around but can't come up w/ an answer, so I'm turning to the experts :-)

    Wade,
People that can recognized a building on fire from far away, normally live longer. Other people, prefer to be inside of the burning building to know it is on fire. Darwin was right!
Who Am I to contradict John Nack - Principal Product Manager, Adobe Photoshop, and the thousand of users saying that installers are bad. Wade, I think you know more than John Nack - Principal Product Manager, Adobe Photoshop! WOW!
So you think all these people are wrong:

    No help from Adobe: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2518421#2518421
Well, there are lot more. But I think you can tell to all that people and a Principal Product Manager that they are wrong.
If I waste my money in Adobe's CS5 with bugs that Adobe will refuse to fix, it's not Jim's concern. It is only yours!
I am just telling Jim to be careful and to TRY CS5 version (because I want to help him)
And stop being infatuate of what I am going to do next. People here, don't care about your whining about what I do or don't do. This is Illustrator Forum, not Hans' Forum.
But thank you for your attention and care for what I do in life!

  • Captivate CS3 / CS4 Compatability

    Hello,
I work in a mixed environment.  The organization I provide eLearning to uses an organization-wide Captivate CS3 license and I use CS4 to create the content.  I haven't had to ensure the content I create crosses version lines so I was wondering: Is Adobe Captivate CS4 backwards compatible with CS3 or is there a way to make CS3 read a CS4 file?
I can't force them to change the version of Captivate they are using but if I can make it possible to use the content I create, that would be great!
I really don't want to go back to using CS3.  I loved it but I like CS4 a lot better now.  If only they would see that too....

    Hi again
Yes. But not without a few hickeys.
I have Captivate 1, 2, 3 and 4 on the same PC. While my version 4 seems to work okay, I have problems editing and working with audio in version 3. (I still do a lot of work using version 3).
    Cheers... Rick
