CS4 Corrupts the m4v file during export

I am currently using the trial version of Adobe Premiere.  I am trying to figure out if this is the editing software to use.  I recently bought the Canon 7d DSLR camera and with the most recent patches I can edit and view video files within Premiere with ease on my high horsepower computer.  However, when exporting files to the H.264 Blu-ray format, the final file cannot be read by any software.  If I import the file back into Premiere I get the following message "The importer reported a generic error."  The file does seem to have some meat in it (~628 MB for a 4 minute portion of the timeline).  I did try to export to wmv and after 10 hours it exported the entire file, BUT when I open it in media player, only about half of the movie plays, then it becomes corrupted.  Any thoughts?  This is the third editor I have tried and this one is the most promising.  Vegas Pro ran out of memory after a 2 minute compilation.  Pinnacle Studio doesn't recognize the .mov file.
Here are the specs.
Premiere CS4 4.2.1 Trial verison
Canon 7D .mov files running at 23.976 fps 1920x1080
Exporting using H.264 Blu-ray (HDTV 23.976 High Quality 1920x1080 (makes unreadable file)
Computer:
6GB memory
1TB mirrored disk
Intel i7 975 running at 3.33Ghz
Windows 7 64-bit
Ndivia 285 Videocard
Windows Experience Index rating 1 to 7.9 (highest)
Processor 7.6
Memory 7.6
Graphics 7.4
Gaming Graphics 7.4
Disk Drive 5.9

I kind of thought about that.  Although it is strange that it "leads" you down that path via
1. having the option to do so
2. actually putting you through an 8 hour export rendering process (for a 2 hour series of clips) and
3. producing a file that looks rather large.
Other portions of the CS4 suite like Adobe Encore says you cannot use it in trial mode.
If this is the case, I would like to get some confirmation that Canon 7d .mov files will work before I shell out over 1K for the CS4 suite (especially is CS5 is most likely several months away...I could hunker down and wait)

  • Is there a way to prevent the the file list moving to the destination folder during export?

During export, the file list is moved so that the destination folder is visible. If I want to access another folder during export, it becomes almost impossible since as soon have I located the 'new' folder I want, the file list is flicked back to the export destination folder. There must be a way to stop this. I just can't find it!

Let's take the screen shot as an example. I might be exporting from the uppermost folder, "A9" to another drive which is perhaps ten or twenty lines further up in the folder list view. All fine and Dandy. The export starts and the view of the folder list will move up so that that folder to which I'm exporting is visible. Let's call that "Export A9".  Usually when I export, I want to be getting on with my next task. For the sake of of this example, let's say I want to be working on files within sub-folders in the bottom most folder, "testing 24-70". The folder list will have been scrolled up by LR so that the "Export A9" folder is visible. So, I scroll back down to "testing 24-70", but by the time I'm trying to click to see it's subfolders, LR will have scrolled me back up to "Export A9", hiding "testing 24-70". This will not be an issue for anyone with a compact folder hierarchy, but once you have several drives and a working folder hierarchy, the scrolling to the export folder hides any folders that don't happen to show after LR has scrolled to the export folder. This doesn't just happen at the start of the export, LR scrolls to the export folder with every new file it exports. It can make accessing the rest of your folder hierarchy during export nigh on impossible.

  • Get File name of the inbound file during mapping

Scenario: to read the file name of the inbound file (which has date required for the mapping) during runtime.
The requirement is to read the date of the inbound file (passed to the XI pipline by the file adapter) and populate the same in the outbound mapping structure.
Any idea about how to do this?
(I went through few options of using java.util.map. not successful yet)

    Hi Anand,
I posted the same question a time ago, without any help....
Can I find out the full filename of input file in message mapping?
    Posted: Nov 23, 2004 1:00 PM
I have in XI 2.0 the following scenario :
In the inbound fileadapter I read my input file. The filename of the input file is part fixed, part variable (Like INDATA01.txt, INDATA03.txt, etc).
So in my Adapterconfiguration, I specify the filename with a wildcard (INDATA*.txt).
What I now want to do, is in my Message Mapping use the full filename , so I can do something different for every filenumber. Is there a way where I can get the full filename available in my message mapping (I did not find the filename in the XML in the message trace).

  • Where is the DLL file that exports these functions?

I have been tasked with controlling a DAQCard E-series via program written in C. My development environment is MinGW on Windows 2000, with DAQ-MX and Traditional installed.
I started by using the MX example code as a foundation. Everything goes well it comes time to link the code; the linker can't find the exports defined anywhere.
    E.g.: WriteDigPort_Fn.o : undefined reference to 'DAQmxCreateTask@8'
    WriteDigPort_Fn.o : undefined reference to 'DAQmxCreateD0Chan@16'
    etc.
(Same with the Traditional example, since it's using the same NIDAQmx.h header file)
My guess is these are properly defined in the (MSVC) .lib file supplied, but MinGW doesn't like it. I can build a definition file for this DLL that Min
GW will like, but to do this I need to know, what is the name of the DLL file these functions actually are exported from?
PS: Not part of my question, but for everyone searching here for info on NI DAQ + MinGW: MinGW defines 64-bit integer types using 'long long' instead of 'int64'. If you're getting errors referring to int64/etc., change the following lines in NIDAQmx.h:
    //typedef __int64 int64; // replace this
typedef long long int64; // with this
    //typedef unsigned __int64 uInt64; // and this
typedef unsigned long long uInt64; // with this

    Greetings,
The NI-DAQmx ANSI C functions are contained within nicaiu.dll. This DLL should be available in the following location:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32
    Good luck with your application.

  • Adobe Flash CS6 corrupted the .fla file that I made. Can someone from Adobe support recover my file?

I work on a brandnew Macbook pro with lot's of HD and memory, Yosemite version.
I bought Flash CS6 for 700 dollars. It hangs, it unexpectedly quits, but worse, it  corrupts the file i have been working on for an entire day. It makes it 981kb and then says it fails to open it.
I want to know where can I get some customer service from Adobe. I paid for this software and I want to be able to send a ticket to the the support so they can figure out what went wrong and if they can recover my file. The file didn't even have 70 frames yet. But each frame had a drawings with pencil that are very detailed. So hence my frustration

    1.  periodically save your fla file with an appended version number so that never happens to you again.  eg, yourproject_01.fla, yourproject_02.fla etc.  that policy (saving frequently with appended version numbers) is a good idea with all software, adobe or otherwise.
    2.  to prevent future crashes/hangs, reset your flash pro preferences, Re-create preferences.
    3.  don't force the termination of a flash save unless you have little to lose.  you should allow, at least, 2 minutes or you're likely to corrupt your fla by doing that.
    4.  you may be able to recover your fla by renaming it to a rar and using winrar to repair it.  that's a long shot but occasionally works.
    5.  adobe support's not likely to offer you much help, but if you want to try contact adobe support by clicking here and, when available, click 'still need help', https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html

  • Does Lightroom create any log file during exports?

While exporting a photo book to PDF and Blurb the process fails. Export to JPEG works, 1 file per page.
Is any log created so that one can see which page caused the problem?
    Thank you.

Thanks for looking and acknowledging the question Geoff.
A log for troubleshooting would be very helpful.
A log showing photo ID's on page numbers would be a fast referance when someone wants to go from a printed book to the photo file.
    Thanks.

  • Moving the .sec file during upgrade

Hello,<BR><BR>Im upgrading Essbase versions 6 to 7. I need to preserve security.<BR><BR>I intend on replacing the new .sec file with the old one via the file system. I understand this may not be the recommended approach. Do you see any issues here?<BR><BR>Thanks.<BR><BR>Kizi.

As I remember, I had no problems on the upgrade from 6.5.4 to 7.0.1 (We're now on 7.1.3). I uninstalled 6.5.4 on the server and then installed 7.0.1. Now while this worked for us without difficulty, I want to remind you that I took a number of precautions that would allow reconstruction if there was a problem.<BR><UL>We did a full file system backup of %ARBORPATH.</UL><UL>Made separate copies of security and configuration files.</UL><UL>MAXL Display commands to dump all of the security information (and wrote scripts to reload if necessary.)</UL><UL>Used the Security Manager (found on the utilities section of this site) to export all users, groups, filters. (It can also be used to import the information back in.)</UL><UL>Scheduled the installation on the test server several days before the production server. It worked!</UL><BR><BR>By the way, this is a good time to review security and purge obsolete groups, users, and filters. If you plan to rebuild the security file from scratch, don't forget that you will have to go through a recreation of all apps. (They are still in the app directory, the create app, create database simply brings them into the security file. <BR><BR>And don't forget that you also have to deal with the API and Runtime modules and client software. While the 6.5 client will continue to work without difficulty, you should also plan to roll out the upgrade to your user community, first testing all of the critical business applications (including spreadsheets) that run on the current release. If you are not currently using Essbase Administrative Services instead of AppManager, install an instance of it on your PC and get used to it. EAS is much more powerful that AppManager and allows you do use features and commands that fail to verify in AppManager. <BR><BR>I always make a plan that allows us to back out of an install and return to original configuration in case of problems. Essbase installs are generally trouble-free; I can't say the same for Analyzer and anything that requires a web app server.<BR><BR>So plan, test, review before installation on production. The insurance value alone is worth the time.

  • Does the M4V file type have direct support for Audio?

    Greetings
I am working with a video vendor who just ripped a dvd and sent me BOTH m4v files AND aac files (audio and video separately),. When I asked him why he did not just send 1 m4v file with the audio and video in ONE FILE, he wrote me back this (Which I need to confirm is true or false):
.M4V is a video format that doesnt directly support audio so the computer automatically rendered the audio files out as .AAC. What you say is an .MP4 format is really just the "file type" and not the extension itself.
Doesn't sound quite right, but I am not a video pro. But I do not want to have to splice all these files together again.
Please advise: Is his statement (above) correct?
    Thanks, sleeper

Your video "vendor" is an idiot.
DVDs are mpeg 2 video + ac3 (or aiff) audio.
If he used something like HANDBRAKE to rip the DVD, the audio and video would be contained in one M4V file,
Hard to tell what is really going on.

  • How to delete the doubled file after exporting through iTunes?

When I exported an iMovie project from the iPad to Mac via iTunes, it created another file about the size of the movie project (about 5GB in my case).
Now that I exported the project, I want to keep the movie on the iPad but free that extra 5GB used to prepare the file for export. How do I do that?
    Thanks for any hint.

Just delete the project in the iTunes/Apps/Sharing pane.
Once you have saved the file off, you can delete it from the Sharing Pane.
IMovie uses an internal area to save the project it edits, so the project in the sharing pane is a duplicate as you say.
You can only delete this file in iTunes though.

  • My apple TV will not play the m4v files from my pinnacle dazzle.

I recently purchased the Pinnacle Dazzle analog to digital converter. It states that it can convert an analog file to a apple TV compatable file. m4v I converted some analog files and found that they play fine on itunes but when I stream them to the apple TV they run a few frames and then stall like they are trying to get more information. I tried this with several types of videos and have the same problem...does anyone out there have a similar problem.

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
The fact that files play in itunes and not on the Apple tv indicates there are two areas to consider here. The files may be encoded in an incompatible format for the Apple tv or there are problems in the movie atoms caused by improper encoding.
When you create .m4v files from your A/D converter do you use an Apple tv preset or do you need to input your own settings.
What happens if you choose to convert these files to an Apple tv format in itunes.

  • How do I prevent CS4 from creating HTML files on export of an image?

Everytime I export an image i am getting a html file created too.  It is annoying having to delete them manually every time, and there seems to be no option to turn this feature off.
Generally I dislike CS4 compared to Macromedia Fireworks v8.

You need to select "images only" in the dialogue box when you choose Export

  • How can I remove my name from being associated with the GB file I export?

    I am using Garage Band '11, 6.0.5.
I am editing an audio recording for a friend.
When I exported the edited recording, it had my name associated with the file as the artist, album, etc.
I searched and found "My info" (in "Preferences") and deleted my information from ALL name, album, artist fields, but it still exported the file with my name as the artist (but it did not list it as from my album this time)?
Does anyone know how/where/what I need to do to remove all references of my name associated with this file I'm editing?
And also, can I change who is associated with a GB file, from file to file (i.e. if editing my audio, use my name & info, if editing for a friend or colleague, theirs?  or is the name associated with my GB account universally embedded into every file, no matter if I want it to be mine or not)?
    Thank you for your support!
    Joe

When I exported the edited recording, it had my name associated with the file as the artist, album, etc.
The problem is, that this information is stored with the GarageBand project, when you first create the project.  You have to edit the Preferences, before you create the project.
If the project already exists, you can change this option by turning the project into a podcast. Add a Podcast track (Track menu, Show Podcast Track), select the podcast track, and open the Info panel. Then edit the artist field in the Info panel, before you save the song to disk.
(added: I saw the workaround with the Podcast track first in a post by Edgar).

  • How do I save an edited photo to a usb I export them to desk top but the whole file is exported ther

How do I save an edited photo to a usb New to LR I have exported some to desktop but I keep getting the whole catalogue there as well

Exporting will create a new file for every Image you have selected.  It will not overwrite any files.
Your workflow counters much of the engineering and design that went into Aperture.  Here is a very short guide to getting started with Aperture.
Fwiw, the Aperture Library is a file system.  The Library is a Finder package.  You can see the contents of the package by right-clicking the Library (in Finder) and selecting "Show package contents".  Additionally, for advanced users, Aperture includes features for manually managing the files you import into the Library (they can be located on any drive directly connected to your machine).
