CS4 crashes on almost every close

I'm using Premiere CS4 on Mac OS X 10.6.2 with a Macbook. Everytime I close Premiere after doing an export, I get a message that it has crashed. The message is from Premiere and not Mac OS X. It doesn't seem to affect anything.
Do other Mac users get this also? Is a patch available to fix it?

• Cropping crashes iPhoto almost every time

Can't seem to crop photos since the upgrade. Almost every time I crop, it just bombs out of the program without saving the change.

• Premiere Pro CS4 crashes at startup every time

Running CS4 on Vista-32. Updated Premiere Pro to 4.01, but nothing I do can get the program started. Photoshop CS4, Illustrator CS4, et. al. all work fine. Everything works except Premiere Pro.
I'm completely flushed my system of codecs, and reinstalled them all. And of course, the Adobe crash reporter tool does work, but it prevents me from seeing Windows' own messages, so I don't have any idea what's preventing PP from loading.
Funny thing is that PP starts fine on a virtual machine (Vista 32 running under MS Virtual PC) on the same PC! So, I can run it in a Virtual PC window (sloooow), but not otherwise.
One more thing: I had exactly the same problem with PP CS3, but I never cared/needed it until now.
Help! I'm at the end of my rope.

Hey y'all,
First time Adobe Creative Suite user, and I bought the CS5 Master Collection today. Just like a crop duster pilot getting into an F22 fighter jet...wow.
I found that I had to start the Adobe Bridge program first before executing PP. Hope that helps.
(PP = Premiere Pro)
For the curious, here are some of my other trials and specifications:
1. Start PP (Quicktime installed) = crash after workspace shows up.
2. Start PP (Quicktime uninstalled) = splash screen only, no workspace.
3. Uninstall PP, reinstall and start PP (Quicktime uninstalled) = splash screen only, no workspace.
4. Start PP (Quicktime installed) = crash after workspace shows up
5. Start Bridge and After Effects CS5, then PP (Quicktime installed) = crashes while I'm editing
6. Start Bridge, then PP (Quicktime installed) = still working right now, but it'll probably crash due to hardware limitations
Hardware:
Toshiba Satellite P20
Pentium 4 HT
Windows XP Media Centre SP3 32-bit
2GB DDR RAM
5400rpm HD
And yes, I'm using the CS4 versions of Premiere Pro and After Effects, not the CS5 versions, because I only have a 32-bit OS. (The CS4 versions of these two programs are included in the CS5 Master Collection package).

• QuickTime 7.04-Pro crashes with almost every action

Hello MacFriends,
I have constant crashes while performing cut/copy/paste, dragging the slider, playing backwards (and forwards), fast-forward & backward, opening 2 files at the same time, playing single frames with the arrow-keys, switching to full-screen and back, etc., etc.. This happens while basically trying to search and copy/paste pieces from one .mov-file to another. Reverting to 6.5.2-pro solves the problems, but accurate copy/paste-actions are almost impossible in QT-6. (although the screensetting-options like brightness, contrast and color are back, I still don't understand why they left this out in QT-7) Trashing prefs, reinstalling, etc. don't help either.
I don't expect much performance from my 'old' imac, but I think this is quite a bit too much, certainly because QT-6 doesn't crash: It's just unusable at the moment.
Do I just have to wait for 7.1 or are there other options to solve these problems? And tips about using QT on a slower computer are also welcome.
Many thanks for your attention.

Thanks QuckTimeKirk, that really made a difference.
But where in my home-folder can this problem originate, since I have repeatedly thrashed all QT-stuff in ~/library as well in /Library? Can I solve this without having to bring everything over to a new account?
Thanks for your quick reply, it's good to know that QT-7 isn't too heavy for my machine and that a new user account did solve the problem.
Many regards,

• Leopard Is Crashing-On almost EVERY program including System Preffs!

Hi!
I had posted this in the Tiger forum at first but now it is here . Sorry for the inconvenience.
I installed leopard about a day ago and ever since all I have had is problems, problems, and more problems....
My Computer Specs:
Processor: 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4
Memory: 512 MB
Type: Mac Mini
First when I installed it the start up window (That pops up after the installation) crashed. This I didn't bother about to much, thought that my computer may have been slow or something.
But then after I installed the updates (The Itunes 7.5 and such) and restarted I opened "System Preferences" I went to "Spaces" and it crashed. (I mean that System Preferences Crashed).
Ever since then this has happened about 5 more times.
Then Yesterday and today, I tried opening "Dashcode" this has also crashed about 5 times.
The following programs have also crashed:
Microsoft Word -About one time it crashed the computer when I was trying to choose a printer.
Skype-2-3 times, mainly when I try to quit or hang up
Safari-I think it quit once
Time Machine-Froze my computer.....
Also, I have Photoshop Elements and Appleworks, both of these no longer work and crash on opening.
Please help!
Thank you.

This forum and other sites are full of information that details what works, what doesn't, what soon will, and what never will.
Open and run Activity Monitor (in your Utilities folder), it will show you how far you can push the issue, and that will be directly related to the amount of installed RAM.

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
*check for updates for your graphics drive drivers
https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
See also:
You can try to disable OMTC and leave hardware acceleration in Firefox enabled.
*about:config page: layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled = false
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
See "Creating a profile":
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

• Indesign CS4 Crashing on MAC

Please help - CS4 is crashing when regenerating with large amounts of data, mostly text. New Mac, one screen, one very fed up user

By any chance, do you have issues with crashing when you hit any form of UNDO? Particularly, place a file and then hit undo? I can count on this to reliably crash ID almost every time.

• Premiere pro CS4 crashes at startup

Hi,
My Premiere pro CS4 crashes upon startup every time i run it.
My system:
Vista Business 64bit
Intel Duo Core 2 2.6ghz
4gb ddr2 ram
NVidia GeForce 9600M GT
I have tried running the program as an administrator, removing all plugins, and reinstalling.
I've attached my crash repport, can anyone please help.
- MJ

I tried the QT thing with no joy and I was using the 7.5.5 build.
I've already listed my system, but here it is again: Asus Maximus Extreme, intel q6600, 4gigs DDR3 1600mhz, 8800 gtx oc, 3x750gigs.
Deficient? Hardly since my 2.2 duelcore, 3gigs ddr2 geforce 8600m gt laptop ran it fine.
As to hardware Premiere pro CS4 is the only program my rig has an issue with After Effects CS4 ect works fine as does Premiere pro 2, but thats useless as I use AVCHD files.
I'm not sure what you mean by assets (my rig doesn't have any savings )
Project/Sequence settings I don't have any because I've just installed cs4 on this system.
Operator Error? Click on an icon Premiere pro CS4 loads without the welcome box it just bings when you try to use it. Can't see how it could be me, but I'd love to admit it was if i could get it working.

That indicates that the DVMAutopick component is missing. All I can suggest is to reinstall iMovie and try the update again. BTW, used almost every suggestion tells us nothing useful.

• System crashing, sound cutting out, hissing popping, I have encountered almost every prob

Backstory: I have a Shuttle XPC SN4G with an Nforce2 chipset.
I have had almost every problem listed in these forums with the X-Fi (elite pro). Right off the bat the install crashed. I manually installed some of the software progs. I got it to work great for about 2 weeks.
One day it started hissing and popping. After reading some of the suggestions here I changed the latency, and reinstalled my chipset drivers. That fixed the popping but then my system started hanging everytime I started playing audio through the spdif or optical. AFter about 0 uninstall and re-installs of the X-fi, I was able to get the system to stop crashing so frequently.
Now, after being in windows for about 0-20 seconds, the sound completely cuts out and won't come back until I restart (I can physically hear something click inside the X-Fi when this happens).
So far I feel like a sucker paying almost $400 for this (it was the only solution I could find that would work for my setup). The extreme difficulty in getting it properly set up has been a source of frustration this past week. I am using the X-Fi as a preamp for my cable box and DvD player.
I will update later with my progress - my plan of attack for tonight is to mess with the bios settings and do the clean boot or 'driver cleaner' route.

Take the time to do a clean install. I know it's a longgggggggg process, but it's worth it.
