CS4 Design Premium installation failure on Win-7

I have tried this installation a number of times now and continually get a problem with kb403891r2 error regarding the UninstallColorProfilesRollback preventing the installation.
I have tried both solutions I was taken to by the Adobe Support advisor regarding manually removing the files and setting the permissions in the registry.
I have also tried changing the permissions on the relevent folders as per the information found on these discussion pages, still to no avail.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on an Intel i7 system.
Hope you can help as I am about to lose what little hair I have left!

Hi Mylenium
Thank you so much, this gave me the clue I needed. The problem was based on my using multiple monitors, one of which is connected to an HDMI connection with obviously a separate colour profile.
Restarting the computer with only the VGA connected monitor active allowed me to remove all of the colour profiles and the installation subsequently went without a hitch.
Thanks again for the information.

  • Upgrading to CS6 Design and Web Premium from CS4 Design Premium Install Failure

I am trying to upgrade to CS6 Design and Web Premium from CS4 Design Premium on Win 7 (32bit).  I am nistalling from the DVD which was purchased from the Adobe Store.  The box says it is for Upgrading from 4 or 3x.   I am entering the CS6 serial number and it is able to validate it.   When it goes into the Preparing to Install mode  the status bar never changes and after what seems like a very long time the Installation failed message is displayed.  I ran the Adobe Support advisor and  followed the link to the page that tells you how to resolve the issues and chose to go into the registry and look for "In Progess".  There was no "In Progress".     I have the serial numbers for CS4 and CS6 so they should be valid given that both were purchased through the Adobe Store.   I am very frustrated!!!!!!!!!
    Installation Status:
    Installation failed:
    Adobe Advisor Results:
    Regestry:

I downloaded and installed the Application manager and re-started the installation.  This time it got to installiing the applications and after 3 hours it was only 55% completed and showing that it was installing Acrobat  and had 2 hours to go. It seemed to be stuck so I cancelled the install.

  • CS4 Design premium installation questions

I have the student edition of CS4 design premium.  I have gone through the process of obtaining a serial number and am ready to intall, but I have some questions.
One, I have been using trial downloads of Dreamweaver CS4 and Photoshop CS4 to try to learn the basic of using these two programs.  The Dreamweaver trial period expires today.  Should I uninstall my two trial downloads before trying to install the entire suite from the disks, or can I just put my serial number into the appropriate place for these two programs and then proceed to install the others from my disks?
Two, the set of disks I received (ordered through some third party supplier via Amazon) came with absolutely no instructions, manual or information about installing.  There are three disks (labelled Content, Application 1, and Application 2) and an additional Learning Creative Suite 4 disk which doesn't seem to contain anything at all about installation.  How do I know which one of the three main disks to start with for installation?

You cannot use the serial number for the student version of the suite (or any other version of the suite for that matter) on any individual programs. Totally uninstall those programs. Then install the suite starting with the Application 1 DVD. When prompted to, enter the serial number you were provided with. The install process will at some point request that you replace Application 1 DVD with Application 2 DVD. The content of the "Content" and "Learning" DVDs is optional and you can copy those to wherever you like on your file system.
Your "third party supplier via Amazon" should have provided instructions to you.

  • CS4 Design Premium installation issue

I have an issue when attempting to install CS4 Design Premium on my Mac Mini.  The issue begins when the first DVD is finished and the second DVD is requested.  The active dialog box is blank with no text and buttons and I am not able to click anywhere in the dialog box.
The only error I get when installing is that I do not have the recommended amount of memory (1GB versus 2GB).  My Mac Mini is running Mac OSX 10.5.7 and otherwise complies with the requirements for use.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

Computer froze twice while installing the first disk of CS4 Design premium. Now when I try to continue the installation, it tells me "Setup has encountered an error and can not continue. Contact Adobe customer support for assistance."
I've since tried to uninstall CS4 through the Control Panel, and it doesn't work.
What do I need to do to get the installation going again? Any ideas on how to uninstall everything and start again?

I have windows vista basic, I have tried twice to reinstall and it stops, it would appear in the same place because the progress line does not give you a % of installation on the second install it looked like it was stopping at the "Kuler". • CS4 Design Premium Installation from Hard Drive?

I want to install Design Premium from the hard drive. Since there are two application discs, where do I copy the application data from the second disc too. I thought I had seen a CS3 post that had you copy everything in payload folder on the second disc to the payload folder established when you copy the first disc. Is this correct? How critical is the name of the main folder that I copy everything too? Does it need to be labeled "Adobe CS4 Design Premium."

  • CS4 Design Premium Installation Problem with DVDs

    Hey,
I just bought the student Edition of the CS4 Desgin premium package.
    Have Windows XP SP3
Anyway I put in the first DVD...and it loads...and loads....and loads...like half an hour.
Nothing...cant open via explorer as well.
So I restart with Dvd in the drive. restart took a bit longer but now I can acces via explorer.
    I start installation...works fine...put in Dvd2...works fine...Put in dvd3...loads...loads....loads...
just for fun I put in dvd"Content"....loads...loads....loads.
Ok so now I'm right in the middle of the installation...so cant just restart
(I did try later after aborting Installation: then I can read em like dvd1)
Now I have just installed half....with conent of dvd3-"content" missing
I tested 25 other dvds I had laying around...all starting within the sec I entered em, so dvd drive seems fine.
Cant remember how see specs at moment...but lets just say I can play "Crysis" on High smoothly
It would maybe work if I could somehow install the content of dvd3 and dvd"Content" seperatley?
    (do I need dvd "content"?)
Or how about If i create images of em and then mount em...think that would work (know a good free program?)?
    would appreciate some help

I strongly suspect a bad production run of Adobe DVDs - I had enormous problems (see previous thread somewhere in this forum) attempting to install my Student Version Design Premium from the DVDs which Adobe sent me.  I then had absolutely no help from their telephone support.  I then had similarly no help from their online support portal - and, in fact, got really mad at them about it all.  I spent days trying to sort it out.  This message board - and one guru in particular - was very supportive and patient.
My solution: I downloaded the trial version of the Creative Suite I had bought, installed from that (fast, easy, no problems at all) and then used the product key from the DVDs I had bought direct from Adobe.  So, I had to spend three days downloading (very slow broadband here) but it did, at least, get me a working copy.
I wish Adobe would own up to sending out duff DVDs - but when I asked them (about the second question I asked in my first phone call) I was told that it was so unlikely that she (tech support woman) wanted me to try (all manner of ridiculous) other things first.

  • CS4 Design Premium Installation

Attempting to load CS4 on 13" stock MacBook. I know I will need to increase RAM. 30G of free harddrive. During installation, the progress bar for Profiling System makes it to about 95% and all processes stop . . . The CD stops turning. I let it sit over night to see if things were just moving slow. But it sat right where it was all night.

    Daryl,
    >I know I will need to increase RAM. 30G of free harddrive.
Please provide your system hardware specs. Include CPU, RAM, OSX version. But off the bat, only 30GB free is choking your system. And after installation, you'll have under 20GB free space. No room for files, for scratch disc, for system overhead, or much else. Also, please tell us what system maintenance you've done immediately prior to attempting to install the software. And if you had anything else running at the time.
But the bottom line is that you simply may not have sufficient resources to install.
    Minimum system requirements
    (with emphasis on minimum):
    PowerPC® G5 or multicore Intel® processor
    Mac OS X v10.4.1110.5.4
Java Runtime Environment 1.5 required for Adobe Version Cue® Server
1GB of RAM or more recommended
10.3GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional hard-disk space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on flash-based storage devices)
1,024x768 display (1,280x800 recommended) with 16-bit video card
Some GPU-accelerated features require graphics support for Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0
    DVD-ROM drive
QuickTime 7.4.5 software required for multimedia features
Broadband Internet connection required for online services*

I'm bumping this because I've had no response here OR via Adobe's online
support, after a week! If I'd realized how many installation issues there
were I might've waited to install it. Based on the KB link Peter sent me
which describes the exact same issue only in Acrobat 6

I was hopeful there'd be a similar solution for the new version. I hate to
go through the gyrations of uninstalling and reinstalling if it isn't going
to fix it. Everything else is working. As I said in my previous message,
this is more of a nusance than anything else. It's not like it keeps me from
working. Therefore it's hard to justify hours on the phone with tech support
when they're clueless and walking me through a script to nowhere!
Can anyone offer any insights at all? Is it normal for Adobe's online
support to not respond after a week? Seems pretty poor to me.

  • Please Help Me -- CS4 Design Premium and CS4 Production Premium on Same Machine

We are a non-profit organization that gets donated software at a great price but you're limited to what's available. We bought the CS4 Design Premium Suite last year (CDs). I called the Adobe sales department to find out if I could run CS4 Design Premium on the same machine. They told me that I could. So I bought CS4 Design Premium as a download. It took a tremendous amount of time just to download the package, and once installed Premiere Pro would not run properly. I called tech support and spent 9+ hours on the phone and no resolution. They had me doing everything -- uninstalled both packages six times. They kept telling me I didn't have enough RAM (and I knew that was wrong because I have been editing using AVID before deciding to go with Adobe -- and I had the CS3 Adobe Premiere Pro, Soundbooth and Encore running on my E drive with no problem before I went ahead and bought CS4 Production Premium).
I took my computer back to the company that built it and they suggested that I replace my graphics card and sure enough, Premiere Pro worked fine. Everything seemed to work fine in both packages except Adobe Acrobat. When I opened a pdf file, Acrobat asked for a serial number, but wouldn't accept my Design Premium serial number. I called tech support thinking they would give me a different serial number for Acrobat or something simple. Needless to say after 3 hours, and uninstalling the software again, they told me I couldn't run two CS4 suites on the same computer. Then a supervisor told me I could run both suites, but I would need to run a cleanup program, uninstall both of my suites and start again!
All software in CS4 Design Premium installs except Acrobat. It is grayed out on the install screen as if it's already installed, and when I try to open a pdf file, the installer pops up, installs Acrobat, and asks for a serial number. When I enter the serial number, it gives me a red "x".
    SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!
I don't know where to turn now ... is there anybody in the United States that I can get help from?
Can Adobe deactivate my CS4 Design Premium and Production Premium and send me the Master Collection CS4?
Please help me if you can!

This is a user to user forum that is not monitored officially by either Adobe Technical Support or Adobe Customer Support. The issue you raise with regards to trading two copies of a suite for one of another is nothing that anyone here can assist you with.
Please contact Adobe Customer Support directly by phone. They are the only ones who can assist you with this.

  • CS4 Design Premium Student Edition will not even begin the installation process

    Help!
I have bought CS4 Design Premium Student Edition, I received the serial number okay, tried the installation process but stupidly hadn't quit a programme fisrt. I tried the process again but the SetUp window says 'Loading SetUp' and I get an 'Installer Alert' window pop up with nothing in it. I can't quit the Installer and have to Force Quit.
I've tried the CS4 Clean Script and it finds nothing to remove. Having spoken to Tech Support I tried CS3 Clean Script and it removed certain items, but the CS4 disc still won't work.
I have Photoshop 7 installed, would that be interfering?
What else can I remove before re-trying the installation of CS4?

I have tried shutting down and restarting and just a simple restart.
The guy from tech support didn't tell me to do that when I was trying the clean script stuff the other day but I've tried it sonce and there's still no joy.
Does it sound like I've got something preventing the installation process from starting if I get a blank 'Installer Alert' window appear?
Calling Adobe Support is such a pain. No answer for hours....

  • CS4 Design Premium (Windows) installer files?

I purchased CS4 back in late 08, installed it on my then-laptop, and now I've got a new (Windows) laptop I want to install it on. When I looked for it in the case on my shelf, the box was empty! When I called Adobe today, they verified my license, but said they no longer have it available for download and I should ask "The Experts" in Forums if anyone has installer files I can download. It sounds crazy to me that Adobe just couldn't keep this somewhere for me to access, though I grant them that I'm the idiot who lost my media so what can I say. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Mylenium--Thanks for the link but it doesn't seem to be working for me. When I clickthru, I see CS4 links (file 1, 2, 3). When I click on File 1, I'm brought to Adobe's "Resume your Adobe Download" page, which says to sign in and resume the download (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/dlm/). . I sign in, pick
    TRIAL DOWNLOADS
Sign in and resume your trial downloa
and it takes me to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ which as Mr. Adobe Support said, no longer offers CS4 Design Premium.
    Any other ideas out there?

  • Parallel installation of cs4 design premium and cs5 production ?

    Hallo
I  bought 1 year ago the cs4 design premium suite.
Now I would like to buy the cs5 production suite because I need aftereffect and premiere. Is it possible to install programmes from both cs4 and cs5 suites on one windows System without problems? I use still win vista, but I would like to update to win 7. So perhaps the problems are different depending on the os?
So I would like to install:
    from cs5 production:
    aftereffect cs5
    premiere cs5
    photoshop cs5
    flash catalyst / professional cs5
    bridge cs5
    illustrator cs5
    onlocation cs5
    soundbooth cs5
    encore cs5
    bridge cs5
    and combine it with:
    indesign cs4
    dreamweaver cs4
    fireworks cs4
Would it function at all or not? Would that cause conflicts in special situations? Are the different adbobe programmes able to load updates, when there are cs5 and cs4 programmes on one win system together?
Would there be a problem in for example working with the flash cs5 together with dreamweaver/fireworks cs4?

What you want to do should be no problem. Just be aware that PP and AE are 64 bit only.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro will NOT install (CS4 Design Premium)

Acrobat 9 Pro will NOT install (CS4 Design Premium)
Acrobat Pro 9 will not install (FAILED), although every other program on the CS4 DVDs did install properly.
I have followed the instructions, and have tried with no programs running, not even virus protection (which is an insane thing for Adobe to demand of a product being installed where the installation routine is expecting an Internet connection): FAILED.
I uninstalled my Acrobat 6 Pro, (a standalone Pro version that I had to have  a few years ago.) I uninstalled that working program knowing I had no idea where my original Adobe Acrobat CD is located, so I was essentially cutting myself off of Acrobat Pro if the Acrobat 9 Pro install continued to fail.
I reported this to Adobe support online.
I have followed the instructions to disable startup items and services, then tried the Acrobat 9 Pro install: FAILED.
At that point, I gave up installing Acrobat 9 Pro. I didn't have any more time to screw with it - I would re-visit the installation failure later.
Lo and behold, a client sent me a PDF file of a brochure, in an email, and I had to grab some text from it to put on his website (Done in Dreamweaver CS4.) Well, damn, now I'll have to go back and get that install to work...FAILED!
Suspecting a problem in the installation routine on the DVD, I decided to download the trial version of Acrobat 9 Pro. So, I did. It downloaded and installed without a hiccup, and I had Acrobat 9 Pro working for 30 days...
I did what I had to do, using the trial version, then figured I would re-visit the installation issue later, when I had a few hours to dedicate to all the hell of calling Adobe software support, handholding, maybe registry edits, multiple reboots, and multiple attempts at doing everything again, just so the support person would know that I did follow all the steps correctly to prove thw outcome is sill FAILED!
Oh crap, I got another PDF file. No problem, I thought, I don't need to edit the PDF, just read it. When I tried to open the file, Acrobat 9 Pro plastered a screen over the program - the screen saying my 30 day trial version has now run out, demanded a serial number, or quit. My CS4 serial number would not activate it, and so I had to quit, not even being able to read the PDF file.
So, I un-installed the trial version of Acrobat 9 Pro that had installed without a hitch and had worked flawlessly for 30 days.
Now I'm going to have to visit hell, and get the software that I paid hundreds of dollars for to work...
Please STOP and NOTE: Acrobat 9 Pro installed perfectly from the downloaded Internet version. What does that tell you? There are no operating system issues, no hardware compatibility issues  (which I knew anyway, as the OS and hardware is up to date.) Even more significantly, there is no issue with the Windows registry, or other versions of Adobe Acrobat that had been installed before in the machine. My conclusion was that it has to be a problem with the installation routine on the CS4 disks.
So, I spent an hour on the phone with Adobe personnel: software support, to customer service, to sales, to customer service, and back to sales. After software support came to the conclusion that I needed to UNINSTALL ALL OF CS4, and run a clean-up utility, I knew I had to try getting a new set of DVDs and hope the installation routine problems/bugs had been worked out.
After being batted back and forth by Adobe Customer Service and Adobe Sales, I finally got someone to agree to send a set of DVDs to me.
I got the DVDs. I tried to install Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro: FAILED
As I told the software support person, I do not want to un-install the entire CS4 suite. I have all of those programs working fine, and have about a dozen web sites within Dreamweaver CS4 painstakingly set up and active, and some of them are current projects that I am working on daily. I also have multiple extensions installed, and spent quite a bit of time getting all of those programs set up for my preferences and my work flow. I DO NOT WANT to uninstall the entire suite of applications to get Acrobat 9 Pro to install.
And the conclusion of the "sophisticated" Adobe Support Advisor as to what specifically was the instalation issue?
    Adobe Support Advisor
The module found no solutions to report for the selected log file.
If you continue to have difficulties with the application,
    please contact Adobe Support: http://www.adobe.com/support
    System Information :
    Operating System = Windows XP
    Locale = en
At this point, what I want is to know what registry keys to edit and which folder(s) to delete to eliminate previous traces of Acrobat. In other words, just exactly the tiny piece of the "clean-up utility" that I need to run in order to allow the *Y#^%@#&#(& installation routine to work for Acrobat 9 Pro. I have no intention of uninstalling Dreamweaver CS4, as that is my business livlihood, and I know that my Dreamweaver CS4 client files/sites could not be read by earlier Dreamweaver versions. Asking me to uninstall Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, InDesign, and Fireworks is insane. Your bad installation routine is not my fault, and you cannot expect me spend countless hours getting all those programs set up the way I want and with all my client/work files working correctly and all the extensions set up properly. So, if Adobe software support refuses to tell me what registry keys need to be changed, then I want Adobe Sales to send me a new, standalone version of Acrobat 9 Pro on disk.
    Dennis

I hit the same problem except I had a Reader X installed not a pro version.  For me the solution was to really make sure that nothing else was running.  I followed the steps from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651#reso2 the link is goofy so here is the pertinent text:
