CS4 Design Standard Silent Install does not work

I've concluded CS4 Design Standard silent install for Macs does not work correctly. I've got the program to install sucessfully with an Exit Code: 0 and the programs still do not work. The whole suite says the licensing has stopped working. I've tried the License Repair utility from Adobe, no go. It looks like the program does not fully install. I noticed within each application directory, it should have an Uninstall application when installed correctly. When this application isn't there, which occurs with silent installs, the whole suite doesn't work.
Its funny how Adobe wont help me with "enterprise installations". I haven't tried the Creative Suite Deployment Toolkit but I've read other threads where that doesn't work either.
If someone would like to prove me wrong about the silent installs for CS4, please do so. I've gotten CS3 to install perfectly, and the setup is very similar for both.

CS4 Design standard Silent Install: Start Menu Items

Greetings!
I've got everything working for a silent install of CS4 (Design Standard). However, there seems to be an issue with creating the Start Menu Folders.
My first try, I asked for all the shortcuts to be placed in a folder called "AdobeCS4." Short and sweet. After running the install, it created THREE folders. The first, just called "Adobe" had the Media Player shortcut in it. The second was the one that I'd asked for, AdobeCS4, and had the rest of the items in it, except for three. The Third folder was named "Adobe Design Standard CS4", and had "Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro", Acrobat Distiller 9, and Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2" in it.
So, I re-set the install.xml file to NOT make my custom folder name, but just use the one called 'Adobe'.
However, the acrobat side of things still won't play nice. It looks like in the "suite.mst" in the Acrobat Payload folder specifically calls for the cumbersome "Adobe Design Standard CS4" folder. I tried editing that file, and the install of Acrobat failed, so I assume that the files are checked before install to make sure they're not corrupted or something.
Has anyone been able to make this (Acrobat Install) work properly, and have an install NOT bloat the start menu like crazy? How about the Adobe Media Player install?
I've currently got the install working cleanly using a batch file to change some registry values (disable eula, adobe.com, etc), move the shortcuts, and delete the old folder, which works, but is really not how "software of this caliber" should work.

Silent install does not work using /S argument

I am trying to perform a silent install of the Flash Player using the EXE. I prefer not to use the MSI. I am trying this command:
install_flash_player_10.exe /s
or
install_flash_player_ax.exe /s
Both commands produce this error:
Invalid argument or invalid use of argument '/s'
Has anyone encountered this before? Thanks!

When we build SMS packages for deployment we also build uninstall packages in the event that we need to rollback. The silet uninstall command for Flash 10.1 is
install_flash_player_10.exe -uninstall
It also seems to remove both the ActiveX and Plugin version if both are installed as in our environment. The uninstall string the registry:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil10h_ActiveX.exe -maintain activex
does not work.

Lion Install does not work, says "This disk is used for Time Machine backups"

I'm having trouble installing Lion onto my macbook pro intel core 2 duo.
I am backing up my computer with an external drive using TimeMachine, but i've disconnected it. Also i'm running SL 10.6.8
I have a windows 7 partition that was created with boot camp.
I've tried to make sure everything is all ready for lion but when I go to install lion it says "This disk is used for Time Machine backups" and the hard drive is grayed out.

I'm hearing that a file called "Backups.backupdb" is on the top level of the hard drive, but I see no such file. I've looked at the invisible files and I cant find it.
I've also created a bootable flash copy of the lion install but that does not work It gives me the same message "This disk is used for time Machine backups".

"Backups.backupdb" if the file in Time Machine. As the discussion says, you have to find that file and trash it. Try spotlight to locate it. If that does not work, down load OmniDiskSweeper from the Internet (free) and go through an organized search to find "Backups.backupdb". If that takes too long or is too tedious, then if you have everything backed up, erase the HDD and start from square one.

Equipmen dismantle, change plant, install does not work

I have developed a function module which should execute the following steps:
- dismantle an equipment from a functional location
- change the plant of the equipment
- install the equipment into a new functional location
I therefor tried to use these three existing function modules:
- Dismantle -> EQUIPMENT_DISMANTLE
- Change Plant -> BAPI_EQUI_CHANGE
- Install -> EQUIPMENT_INSTALL
Now the problem occurs that the call of the BAPI_EQUI_CHANGE does not execute a commit so the changes are not directly written to the database and the following call of EQUIPMENT_INSTALL is not able to install the equipment into the new functional location.
I tried to execute a BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT after the BAPI_EQUI_CHANGE but still it does not work. In my dev system I can insert a "WAIT UP TO 1 SECONDS." call which work but this does not work in the testing env. Also this is a very bad approach.
The curious thing is that everytime I debug my FM everything is working fine. So I bet there is a problem in the direct following call after the BAPI_EQUI_CHANGE and EQIPMENT_INSTALL.

So, what I have done now is the following:

This code checks if the respective entry in the db is already written and if not retry to read it with a delay of 2 seconds.
Looks a little bit ugly but does the job.
If anyone could get me to a "better" solution I would be happy to hear!

Photoshop CS4 64 bit - Clone Tool does not work (and other tools)

Hello.
I have been using Photoshop for many years going back to v5. I had used Design Prem Suite CS4 for the past year on an XP machine. All worked fine. I recently moved to WIndows 7 (64 bit) to get the add memory usage. CS4 installs both 64 and 32 bit versions on Windows 7 64 bit. So far all good. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. I am at a dead end and really have no confidence in getting Adobe's help.
My tools are working erratically, especially the cloning and healing tools. I can't even use Photoshop in its current state and this has been going on now for weeks, no help from Adobe on my lates support ticket post.
I canonly say that the clong tools is all over the place including but not limited to:
* When I sample and then click to stamp, lines shoot across across the image as it I clone a line not a single sample area. These stamps can be the length of the enite image.
* when I sample, then click to stamp, some the stamps occurs on some other part of the image.
* when I sample and the click to stamp, nothing happens. I have to click several times.
* when I sample and then click to stampl, the prior location I stamped has the clone applied
There are more, but this is to just give an example.
Notes:
* I have trashed preferences at least 20 times and the problem immediately reappears
* The problem happens in both the 32 bit and 64 bit version of PS running in Windows 7 65 bit
* The problem occurs with OpenGL tuned on and off
* I have installed the latest PC patch 11.0.1
* I have updated my latest NVidia drives. They are current.
* I uninstalled Photoshop (kept the rest of Suite) and that did not work, and the same problem reappeared. I am not uninstalling the complete suite but the reinstall has error (that is a separate issue)
* I have triple monitors running off 2 GeForce 9800 GT cards. These worked flawlessly before upgrading to the Windows 7 64 bit configuration. When I upgrades, I replaced the processor, motherbaord and moved to 12 GB ram. The graphic cards are the same.
Other tool issues:
* I have similar problems with the healing brush
* sometomes the text tool acts strange. I will click to enter text and a large area opens to enter text instead of just the cursor positioned ready for text. Then other times it works normally.
* the move tools sometimesacts strange. For example, if I try to move some test, the text jumps and moves of the image and I have to find it to drag it back on the image.

All I can say is... Boy am I glad I have an ATI card that just works (and that's including Photoshop CS4/CS5 32/64 bit)!
One thing I'm not sure was mentioned above... Try changing your Advanced OpenGL preferences to "Basic" or even turning off OpenGL to see if it affects the issue. Also try disabling the Show Overlay function in the CLONE SOURCE palette.
Best of luck getting to the bottom of these problems, guys. If they run on too long, consider switching brands.

JRE 1.4 Silent Install does not install

For testing purposes I downloaded the JRE installer (15+ MB) onto the Windows PC I wanted to test out the silent install on. I'm referencing the notes posted here: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/silent.html
At the MS-DOS prompt I type the following command and nothing happens. I don't get any errors or anything and nothing seems to be running in the background. It just executes the command and returns to a blinking cursor.
From this directory on my computer c:\Program Files\CF EMS\ I execute the following:
j2re-1_4_2_08-windows-i586-p.exe /s /v "/qn ADDLOCAL=ALL IEEXPLORER=1 INSTALLDIR=c:\jre1.4 /L jresetup.log"
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Nothing ever gets installed.
NOTE: If I double-click on the .exe installer, it runs the GUI installer and completes successfully so I know the executable works.

Figured it out for those of you that run into this issue... I needed to read the documentation a little more carefully...
I originally had the following command j2re-1_4_2_08-windows-i586-p.exe /s /v "/qn ADDLOCAL=ALL IEXPLORER=1 INSTALLDIR=c:\jre1.4 /L jresetup.log"
I am using the offline installer. If you read the NOTES section in http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/silent.html you'll see in #3 it states that there should be no space between the /v and the "/qn in the command if you are using the Windows Offline Installation.
So the correct command is:
j2re-1_4_2_08-windows-i586-p.exe /s /v"/qn ADDLOCAL=ALL IEXPLORER=1 INSTALLDIR=c:\jre1.4 /L jresetup.log"

Downloaded and installed Camera_Raw_5_7_updater on CS4 to enable NEC files, does not work, what am Idoing wrong?

Folks, I have just downloaded Camera_Raw_5_7_updater in order to enble NEC files in CS4, instalation went fine, but still can't open NEC's any suggestions?

If you gave some sensible, complete and detailed information, someone may be able to help you, such as your platform (Mac or Win), exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop CS4 (11.what?) and of Bridge, machine specs, what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far, etc.

Standard fill objects does not work

When i create a standard fill for textboxes it does work, but for an imagebox it keeps changing back to [None]. Whatever i try, and yes... i do this without any document open, i can't get it done. The minute i create a new document and draw a textbox it gets the filling i've set a a standard, but for imageboxes.... no way. On a Mac with OSX the problem doesn't exist, so can this be a problem of CS3 in combination with WindowsXP?

You don't seem to understand that the shape tool and the frame tool are essentially the same thing, and that you set your defaults BY USING the shape tool. Your objection is as silly as complaining that a Phillips can't function as a Robertson when the screw you're using accepts either.
However, Adobe has made a programming decision that restricts the use of defaults when placing objects. Peter has a valid beef here and Adobe should fix the situation. He and I just have different opinions on the route that fix should take.

Adobe elements photo shop full install does not work. How do I get it to work?

It worked before and now it doesn't. For some reason the computer is treating the full install as if it were a demo. I already registered the product when I first installed...... Only the organizer works now. I uninstalled and re installed but still doesn't work. How do I get it to work...I have windows 8.1...Please help...Thank you.
Somehow the Adobe Manager is not recognizing the full install. Is that possible? There are 2 selections during installation ....trial or product key....
I selected product key since I have the product key. The installation accepts the product key acts like it is installing but then it doesn't run...then I tried the demo installation without the key since I can't enter it in the box in demo mode....that doesn't run either.....Is the Adobe Manager the problem? How do I fix this?

The password prompt is supplied by the operating system, and is intended to protect you from accidentally installing software. You will get this prompt for any installation outside the App Store context.
If you do not need to enter a username or password when starting your computer, you can probably just leave the password field blank when acknowledging this prompt.

CS 5.5 design standard serial number is not working.

Adobe AIR Error - Uninstalling and Re-installing does not work?

I keep getting this error everytime I turn n my laptop. I have uninstalled and re-installed Adobe AIR several times and still keep getting this error after it tells me it has been installed successfully. "This installation of this application is damage. Try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance." What is wrong with this program? I cannot keep uninstalling and re-installing this program and it is not installing properly.

HT5655 Feb 2013 Adobe Flash Player Upgrade Install Does not work - metafile issue

I tried uploading the Feb 2013 update without success. Adobe troubleshooting suggested uninstalling existing version of AFP - which I did - still get "Metafile Instalation failed" - now have NO AFP. Adobe says they are aware of the issue and working on it. Any ideas as to how to reupload my old AFP version??

I've been trying to fix this issue with Adobe for 5 days now and no one is coming back to me (tried the terminal cd solution and it doesn't work).
Luigi could you expand on where you were directed to find a solution? Running
sudo ./Install\ Adobe\ Flash\ Player.app/Contents/MacOS/Install\ Adobe\ Flash\ Player
has only given me a "command no found" message.
