CS4 Digital DL Prompting For Disc

Hello Adobe community.
We are a print/publisher Adobe partner and I am trying to get our Adobe CS4 Design Premium installed on a brand new Windows 7 installation and it gets about 80% through the installation during Dreamweaver and I am then prompted to "Please insert Adobe CS4 Design Premium Disc 1 into drive C:\ to continue installation.". (See linked image below)
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1339417/AdobeCS4InstallError.PNG
I can't really do anything because obviously I can't insert a disc into "drive C" because that is my hard drive so I have no other option other than Quit the installer. This is a digital download that was downloaded through our "partner portal" and we have no physical media - we haven't recieved physical media since CS2.  I have gone through the installation twice with the same results and the second time I removed everything Adobe on the system - which was only Flash Player prior to trying the first install. I attempted using the Adobe CS4 cleanup utility and it didn't find any applications so that was no help.
I don't know what to do but this is very annoying given the fact this is our only software media. I read in the Adobe KB that CS4 had been tested with Windows 7 and it should be fully compatible so I don't think this is specifcally a Windows 7 issue but I didn't have this issue installing in Windows XP before. However, l will also mention that when we were testing Windows 7 Ultimate RC I also had this same issue when trying to install the Adobe CS4 Flash Professional trial and couldn't find a resolution.
This is a custom built system with a Core i7 processor, 4GB of RAM, Windows 7 Professional 64bit and right now there is no other software installed except Windows, hardware drivers and Office 2007 SP2.
Thanks in advance for any help provided.

I figured with all the searching that I did and not finding any answers I would be needing to contact support but I was trying to avoid that based on not-so-great customer service I read about many times on here while reading the forums tonight. Just to note I didn't have any antivirus or third party firewall software installed yet as this was a fresh system installation and I did have the standard Windows Firewall temporarily disabled.
However, I am happy to report that I have resolved the installation issue now and I am currently getting everything updated. I believe the issue was with the download that I was trying to install from from before. When CS4 originally released I downloaded it through the partner portal and then burnt the contents to DVD for later in case it was needed but apparently there was something that wasn't right with it even though it was the same exact 7Z file that was downloaded - and used to install before.
Hesitantly I re-downloaded the 3.78GB file, uninstalled everything Adobe again, ran CCleaner and tried to install with the new download and it succeded this time. Also, it probably didn't have any anything to do with it but just for the sake of it I did disable the Windows 7 User Account Control (UAC) temporarily for the installation. I saw this mentioned in another post and the individual said it worked so I thought I would try it.
Thanks for the response Dov.

  • Photoshop CS4 Trial  installation asking for disc again and again

    I had to uninstall my Creative Suite CS3 because of licensing problems. Then I could not reinstall it on Vista Home Premium SP2 ("unsupported OS").
    Now, as long as I am waiting for Adobe to respond to my case, I tried to install CS4 Trial versions of PS and DW, so I can go on working.
    But:
    Whether I install them from a HDD or from a CD/DVD, it always asks me to insert the disc again into the related drive. Of course it is already in - installation has to be aborted.
    I am very hesitant to purchase the CS4 upgrade, since it seems that after their huge hassle with the CS3 suite they still haven't their product installation problems fixed.
    Anybody had fixed this?
    Thanks
    Matt

    Hi dec9 and the_wine_snob,
    Have tried all these too, and went a bit further with copying the folder to the desktop, but it also ended with a fatal.
    Since the origin of my trouble is the endless hassle with my CS3 Suite installation, I ordered a CS4 Premium Web Trial and see if that installs.
    Don't want to risk paying for another uninstallable product.
    Before I install that, I will:
    - uninstall all Adobe products
    - including all flash versions that might still be lingering around
    - run the CS3 cleaner
    - clean and defrag the drive
    - brush my teeth
    -... anything else?
    Thanks

  • Panther Installation Never Asks for Disc 2

    I'm installing panther on a new hard drive for my iMac Rev A. The new one is 10gb seagate. panther worked fine with my old 4gb quantum fireball. i partitioned it to 7.9gb (8gb doesnt work) and started the installation. it finished, rebooted, and went to the original installation screen - didnt prompt for disc 2 at all. I checked the startup discs and it showed Macintosh HD and it started up with the folder and the ?. Then I went to the installation to choose the drive and I figured out theres something already on it because its using 1.6gb already, but I cant boot to it. Im really getting p.o.'d.

  • Launching Adobe Acrobat X Pro (Mac) first causes other CS5.5 apps to prompt for serial

    Hi,
    As in the title. Does not matter which machine we install Adobe CS5.5 Master Collection onto if we start Adobe Acobat X Pro first it will fire up and work fine. However if we then quit Adobe Acrobat X Pro and then try and launch any of the other CS5.5 apps such as Photoshop it will prompt for a serial number.
    If we install CS5.5 and launch any of the other CS5.5 apps such as Photoshop it works as per nomal. We can then load Adobe Acrobat Pro X and quit it and the CS5.5 apps still work without prompting for a serial.
    Is anyone else experiencing this on a Mac?
    We have tried different model Macs all with clean os installs and only CS5.5 install and it is all repeatable. We have also tried installing CS5.5 manually as well as using the AAME to package it and the same behaviour occurs.
    Any ideas?
    This is a major issue as we will deploy this to numerous computer labs so if a student starts Adobe Acrobat X Pro first then all the other CS5.5 apps will prompt for a serial.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Lachlan

    I haven't seen this on CS5.5 but in the CS4 and earlier if you started Bridge or Acrobat first you would be prompted to launch one of the other applications first. AFAIK, there's no way around this.

  • CS4 Creative Suite Standard Install Discs/Download?

    So unfortunately my macbook's harddrive just crashed, and with it many photos and applications, including my whole adobe CS4 creative suite standard (student edition).  My problem is that I no longer have the original install discs because my beloved roommate threw the box out.  Also a problem, I cannot even think about upgrading to CS5 (don't really want to) because I am still on OS X10.4 (Tiger).  I have tracked down my serial number through adobe's support (muchos gracias), but have no way of getting ahold of a complete CS4 creative suite standard install discs/download.  I have tracked down a friend's CS4 Photoshop install discs (but that doesn't work with my serial #) as well as another friend's CS4 creative suite premium install discs (also doesn't work with my serial #)... Is there anything I can do to get a download or install discs of the programs from adobe?  I only use/need photoshop and bridge, but really need them seeing as I am a ski photographer who is trying to finish up my last edits for winter submissions...

  • Digital signature prompt doesn't appear when case changes in URL

    Hi Everybody,
    I have a Java applet running from a website which is self-signed. Some users at my workplace have been complaining recently that they were no longer being prompted to accept the digital signature on the website and that a triangle with an exclamation mark would show up beside the login screen.
    I found that if those users changed the case of the URL (just one of the subfolders) they were able to get the warning message again. For example:
    If the user was accessing http://www.mycompany.com/Abc/Xyz/ and they changed that to say, http://www.mycompany.com/abc/xyz/ it would work.
    Is it possible that the certificate saved in the users profile is getting corrupt? And by changing the case of the URL it sends out a new warning screen?
    What causes the cache to become corrupt? Why is that some users can use any combination of upper and lower case letters in the URL and they will always be prompted for the digital signature (cannot be verified) and some won't be able to use the default but can use any other combination?
    I tried clearing the java cache and it started prompting me for the digital signature however I was wondering if there was another solution as this is going to become a big support problem.
    Thanks to all for your help.

    It looks to me like this has nothing to do with the digital signature prompt and everything to do with a badly formed URL. In a URL the domain name is not case sensitive but all the path information is case sensitive. Whether one should use http://www.mycompany.com/Abc/Xyz/ or http://www.mycompany.com/abc/xyz/ depends only on what the HTTP server expects. So which of these does the HTTP server expect?

  • Getting Prompt for Credentials When Opening InfoPath 2010 Form in Sharepoint 2010

    I have a domain user who runs Office 2010 x32 and uses a Sharepoint 2010 site daily. Lately a specific page on that site has been randomly giving prompts for credentials when opening existing documents and creating new ones. The process can be most easily
    replicated by opening the new document template in Infopath by going to Documents -> New in the ribbon bar of the SP page. Most of the time the Windows credentials for the user are passed to Infopath/Sharepoint automatically (which is normal), but on the
    fourth or fifth attempt to create a new form, the prompt appears. The user can still enter the credentials and open the blank template form, but a prompt should not appear. The user is also the administrator for that page, so I'm thinking it's not a permissions
    issue.
    The user is running IE 9 on Windows 7 Pro x64. I have performed the following:
    Reset advanced IE settings and all user cache data
    Cleared cached Sharepoint credentials in Windows credential manager
    Re-applied group policy for the machine using gpupdate /force
    Logged in with a clean temporary profile
    Logged in to another domain account using the user's Sharepoint credentials
    Cleared Infopath cache
    Re-installed Office 2010 x32
    The problem only occurs only on this particular machine. There are no Sharepoint or authentication-related errors or warnings in the application and system event logs. There are also no error messages on-screen when the prompt appears. I also considered
    the possibility of this being a performance related issue in the case that maybe Infopath was taking too long to start, causing the credential pass-through process to time out and fall back to a prompt. I ran disk cleanup, deleted some temporary files, and
    checked for excessive CPU/memory load. I didn't find any issues and doing these things did not help.
    I'm convinced there is another setting somewhere in Windows that is causing this. Interestingly it always happens after four or five attempts, never the first time. Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Hi Titan, this sounds like an IE security setting issue. Things to do:
    1. In Internet options>Security>Local Intranet, make sure "Enable Protected Mode" is not selected.
    2. Under Sites>Advanced, add https://*.sharepoint.com (and make sure "Require server verification..." is not checked).
    3. Under Security>Custom Level, scroll all the way to the bottom and make sure "Automatic logon with current user..." is checked.

  • Report does not prompt for parameters when SeparatePages=False

    Hi all. We are using CR2008 Basic w/SP1 along with VS2008. Within our application, reports pull up fine and prompt for parameters using the CrystalReportViewer against the web service. SeparatePages is set to True. We want to change SeparatePages to False, but when I do that any report that should prompt for parameters is not.
    The reports were created in CR 8.5. We have upgraded them to CR2008 (open, refresh, save) which has greatly increased performance. With some further testing, I've discovered that if I take a report that doesn't currently have any parameters and add one via VS2008 report designer, it WILL prompt for the parameter when I run it in our application with SeparatePages=False.
    So I'm leaning that the problem has to do with the reports originally being created in 8.5. I've tried modifying an existing report with parameters, deleting parameters and re-adding, but I still can't get these to prompt for parameters with SeparatePages=False.
    Again, these same reports prompt for parms and work fine as long as SeparatePages=True.  I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this. There are over 400 reports so re-creating them from scratch under CR2008 will be a painful option
    If I need to provide any additional information just let me know. Thank you!
    Sheila

    We are still working to resolve this issue. Testing has shown that for reports that don't return a lot of data, the prompt for parameters will display. But for larger reports, we just see the hour glass and the parameter prompt never displays. It's almost like the reports are trying to return the full dataset without any paramters being passed BEFORE it will prompt for parameters. This would explain why smaller reports will prompt and larger reports never will (?). Not sure that is what is happening.  Again, with SeparatePages=True we are immediately given the parameter prompt. With SeparatePages=False we run into the issue of no prompts.
    Here's the code behind if it help:
    ReportDocument report = new ReportDocument();
    try
        String rptFileName = @"App_Data\Reports\" + Request.QueryString.GetValues(0).GetValue(0).ToString();
        log.writeLog("Loading Report: " + rptFileName);
        String rptFile = Server.MapPath(rptFileName);
        report.Load(rptFile);
        report.Refresh();
        ConnectionInfo crConnectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
        log.writeDebugLog("ServerName : " + rProperties.ODBCSource);
        crConnectionInfo.ServerName = rProperties.ODBCSource;
        log.writeDebugLog("DatabaseName : " + rProperties.ODBCSource);
        crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = rProperties.ODBCSource;
        log.writeDebugLog("UserID : " + rProperties.ODBCUser);
        crConnectionInfo.UserID = rProperties.ODBCUser;
        log.writeDebugLog("Password : " + rProperties.ODBCPassword);
        crConnectionInfo.Password = rProperties.ODBCPassword;
        foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table table in report.Database.Tables)
            TableLogOnInfo crTableLogOnInfo = new TableLogOnInfo();
            crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo;
            table.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo);
    catch (Exception err)
        log.writeLog("Error Loading Report: " + err.ToString());
        this.lblError.Text = err.ToString();
        this.ErrorTable.Visible = true;
        this.ReportTable.Visible = false;
        return;
    CrystalReportViewer1.HasCrystalLogo = false;
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = report; // _serverFileReport;

  • Preview and print a Crystal report prompted for the sa password

    Dear All,
    Our customer has Crystal report add-on to be installed. When we Preview and print a Crystal report, we got a window prompted for the sa password. Even we type in a correct password, it still says wrong password...
    Every time when I open my report in Crystal Basic 2008 on the server, then go database expert >> My connections >> click + in front of the connection name, it asks my sa password. I type in my password then save and close. Next time when I open the report and go my connections, I have to type in my password again. This only happens on one customer.
    Any idea? Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    Yuka

    Hi Yuka,
    1) All their SAP client workstation, they have to have use SQL2008 CD and install SQL Client on it
    Correct, MS does NOT support MDAC or WDAC when connecting to SQL 2008.
    2) Then go ODBC >> SQL Native Client 10.0 >> Create a new connection to SAP server. Should we use sa user or another use that has the same authorization as sa?
    Correct again if they are also using ODBC to connect, as for using the sa account or creating a new one is up to you. I suggest creating a Crystal account with what ever rights your app needs, this way if tracing it turned on etc. you can confirm who is actually running the report.
    3) Then from MY Crystal report, I have to use ODBC connection as well?
    Just to clarify, if you created your reprots using OLE DB then they can do so also. But you need to update your connection properties. Open each report click on Database, Set Location, scroll down to OLE DB and expand and then choose MS SQL Server Native 10 as your OLE DB provider, fill in all the logon info and then verify the database. Do the same for each subreport also.
    Save your report and either send them the new one or if you are doing this remotely then replace the original report.
    VERIFY your reports to confirm they still return correct data and do work as expected.
    Or if you are using ODBC then yes you do select the MS 10 driver with a new DSN. Then do the above to update the reports to all use ODBC as their data sources.
    Hope this is all clear now....
    Thanks again

  • ADF panel does not prompt for variable defined in ADF view object.

    I have created an ADF Panel, which allows the user to run a few simple queries against an Oracle database done using ADF view objects and ADF view links and ADF application module.
    One of these queries lookup detail information about a given database object (Table, view or whatever) from dba_objects. The SQL uses a parameter (:P_OBJ_NAME) that has a default value of “Departments”. If I run the ADF application module by itself outside of the ADF panel, all works fine, it prompts me to provide a value for the parameter :P_OBJ_NAME.
    As I said the panel contains the different ADF view links including the one that should prompt the user to provide a value for :P_OBJ_NAME. When I run the panel it does not prompt me for :P_OBJ_NAME, it just uses the default defined value “departments”.
    I hope I described my problem for every one to understand. The question obviously is how do I get the ADF panel to prompt the user to provide a value for parameter :P_OBJ_NAME, my expectation was that since the sql in the view object and the application module both are designed to prompt for a value for this parameter then the panel should do just that but it does not.
    You expert input would be most appreciated.
    Thanks.

    The prompting for a parameter is a feature we built into the ADF Tester - it is not a default behavior you get in your application when you just place a VO on your page.
    To get something like this expend the operations node under the VO in the data control palette, and drag the "Execute with parameters" operation to your page to drop it as a parameter form.
    This will provide your user a place to fill out the parameter and press a button to execute the query.

  • Run report with SSO/OAM by URL without prompt for uid/pwd?

    Can I run a report by URL to a report engine protected by SSO/OAM without being prompted for credentials?  Asking the same in another way, is there a way to pass the SSO/OAM credentials in the URL (or otherwise) to avoid being prompted for them?  I find many references to how to do this for the database connection credentials, but I'm trying to pass the SSO/OAM credentials on the URL.  My end game is to be able to run a report from VB.NET from a kiosk application in VB.NET where there is no attendant and client does not want to have to log into SSO/OAM at any time.  My VB.NET code will submit the URL, grab the output and manage the work stream (print, save, store to doc repos, etc.) in the kiosk code.
    Thanks in advance

    12/29/2014
    For the sake of those that come later with this same question:
    It turns out there is a way to do this after all.  I opened an SR with MOS and with a little trial and error we worked out that the following does work:
    http://<theFormsReportsServer>:9002/reports/rwservlet?report=myTestReport.rdf&authid=myOAMUserId/mySSOPasswd&userid=dbUid/dbPwdK@DbTnsEntryName&destype=cache&desformat=html
    Note that there are two necessary bits to this in addition to specifying the authid=SSO Credentials part.  The first is that you must use the WLS_REPORTS port (9002 in our case), not the OHS port (8888 in our case).  The other is that you must provide the database connection.  I have done it overtly in this syntax by specifying userid=DbCredentials@Db, but it should also work to substitute the ssoconn functionality in order to hide the Db credentials.  That is not an issue in our environment so i have not actually tested it.
