CS4 Document Presentation API

Hello,
I started working with InDesign CS4 SDK, I am offen working with opening documents and manipulating with them a CS4 uses a new implementation of presentation documents called OWL. IWindow is not supported due to different representation of document windows.
I want to ask you about some problems:
1) How could I get f.e. IControlView of a Document presentation to change position or size ?
2) How could I hide a presentation without closing document, IWindow was easy to hide ?

Just found the answer to my own question, and a resulting new question.
Preferences > Composition tab was a good tip.
If the "replace glyphs" box is checked AND the text uses CAPITAL LETTERS, either through a paragraph or character format or using the All Caps icon in the tool bar, the text is underlayed yellow. Sometimes all letters of all words, sometimes all letters except the first letter of a word...
Also, some combinations of letters in regular "Body" text are also underlayed yellow, e.g. letter combination "fi" or "fl" anywhere in a word. Changing the font does not make any difference.
This seems to me quite strange behavior... What is it supposed to mean? Are CAPITAL LETTERS or letters like "fi" or "fl"now glyphs? Is this "normal" CS5 behavior?

Document Security API Issue

I have developed a web application through which I can apply a policy to a set of documents present on my server's file system,(using APS and DSS API's ) and it is working fine on my jboss.I want to develop an application through which i can apply policy to documents from remote client's file system. And I don't want to upload my files to the server. Imagine if i have a 100 mb document
Document Security service can't be accessed remotely.

Acrobat and Acrobat Professional can both apply policies to documents. The engine on the server side that does this is called PDF Manipulation but the same technology is built into Acrobat.

I have downloaded a nice Flash Slide show file (.SWF) and would like to use in my Flash CS4 document without any modification (as it is). How can I use it? There is no .Fla file this Slide Show. It just works using xml file.

Hi,
You need to load a .swf file in your flash document using the loader class. I'm assuming you are using the AS3. Please click on the below link which helps you to use the loader class.

CS4 document in CS5: Text is underlayed yellow

Hi,
when opening a CS4 document in CS5, some text is now underlayed yellow. Strangely, almost always just headings and not all words or even letters.
Can anyone tell me what this means and which settings are responsible for this?

How to create a smallest file size pdf from indesign CS4 document

How to create a smallest file size pdf (suitable for upload to a website) from indesign CS4 document which contains multiple illustrator CS4 illustrations.
I have chosen the "smallest file size option" but the pdf file is over 30MB, can anyone help please.

One trick is to
Set the placed graphics to have a transparency of 99.9% (you can do this with Find/Change and select Objects)
This is enough to force the graphics throught the Transparency Flattener
Next set the Transparency Blend Space to RGB (Edit>Transparency Blend Space)
Next set a custom Transparency Flattner Preset Edit>Transparency Flattner
Next
Use File>Export and choose
Smallest file size
PDF Compatibility Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3)
In Advanced Section - go to transparency and selec the new Flattener Preset you created.
*this will convert your vectors to raster, but it should reduce your file size

I found Javadocs for SAP NetWeaver 04 SPS15.Is this api supported from SPS 15 or prior to SPS 15 also?

Color issue in an InDesign CS4 document

Something strange is happening in an InDesign CS4 document: All of my my objects that use RGB color swatches appear darker (or grayer) in the document than the RGB swatches themselves. It might be that all of the objects are converting to CMYK and I'm not getting the true RGB colors within this document. Oddly, when I copy an object from this document – say, a simple shape with 100% color fill – into a new document, the object renders correctly with RGB in the new document. That makes me think I've got a universal setting within the original document that is converting my colors strangely. (Potential clue: In the new document, when I click on an RGB swatch, the Swatch Options box shows the Color Mode as RGB, making the color correct. In the original document, when I click on the same swatch color, the Color Mode says System (Macintosh). But when I switch it to RGB, I see a warning icon referring to Out of Gamut color, and when I click on the Gamut correction, it renders the RGB swatch as the off-color I'm trying to avoid.) Is there a universal setting change I should make in the original document so my colors render correctly on screen (I'm trying to use the Web Color Mode)? Thanks!

Brilliant, Peter, thank you. I wouldn't have figured that out on my own. Oddly, the Edit Menu settings had been modified and I had to search to even find the Transparency Blend Space menu. Once I did and reset the Menus, I could switch the CMYK to RGB (no idea how that got switched), and the colors are as they should be. Thanks so much!

When I try to open CS4 document in CS5 it is changing all my type to outline type???

Has anyone else experienced when you open a CS4 document in CS5 that it changes your formatted text into outline text?

It shouldn't.
Maybe you should give us some more info...

Opentext Document presentment

Hi All,
We currently print the bills using FPCOPARA and generate the PDFs using the smartforms.
We generate 200K+ invoices and statements every bill run. And Credit Memos.
These individual PDFs are generated and saved in some central location.
Also email them to customers.
I came across SAP document presentment by Opentext and looks interesting.
Is there anyone who is using this?
1. Can Open text generate and emmail PDFs as well as store them to a file server?
2. Is the form design inside this applciation OR we still need smartform.
3. Is anyone using it recomend it?
Any one using this and providing feedback will be a goo dstart for me. Appreciate.

Hello ... Used OpenText a number of times on ISU projects. Been very satisfied with the results.
1. Can Open text generate and emmail PDFs as well as store them to a file server?
     Yes ... OT will communicate with the email server for any email requirement and store the image as well as use ArchiveLink to allow for easy retrieval within ISU/CRM.
2. Is the form design inside this applciation OR we still need smartform.
     Form design component is called StreamServe (part of OT) ... smartform will be needed to simply create an XML (XDF) file of raw data to be sent to the OT server (no formatting required in the smartform).
3. Is anyone using it recomend it?    Would speak directly to OT for references.

Multi-Page Document Presentation Sequence

I am using the VB6.US PDF creation code with Visual Basic 6. It does a great job in creating a PDF file. However, when the document is presented for reading with the Acrobat Reader, or opened directly for reading with the Acrobat Reader, what's presented is the last page of the document instead of the first page. The scroll bar can be used to get to the top of the document but the initial presentation is confusing for end users.
I have another PDF reader (NitroPDF). Curiously, when the file is opened with this program the document is presented starting with the first page.
Is there some way within the Acrobat Reader specs to have the document presented starting with the first page? Thanks.

unfotunatelly this feature is not yet available within SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe. Please read SAP note: #894389 it describes the limitations.

Well, that is interesting, but I’m going to guess that the snippets are just a form of IDML so if that’s the case I guess it would make sense.

Document Processor API can't create text file

I am using stand-alone version 10.1.3.4. According to the user's guide, the output-type in the Bursting Control file can be "text". However, the Document Processor API ignores the text setting and creates a default pdf instead.

According to oracle, the guide has a misprint. The output type should have read etext and not text. BI Publisher for some reason does not support text output.

You don't say what your version of Windows you have. Assuming XP, go to Start | Run, type DXDIAG and click OK. Click the Sound tab and run the tests to eliminate a hardware problem first of all. If you don't hear anything, check your cables first of all. Also make sure "Mute" isn't checkmarked in your sound setup. You'll find that in Windows Control Panel.
Which browser do you use? If you have Firefox 4, sign up to the HTML5 trial @ http://www.youtube.com/html5
HTML5 is the latest video standard and doesn't require Flash player. Google is in the process of converting all its files to work with the new format. It may solve you problem. If you don't have Firefox 4, you can get it from here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/
IE8 doesn't support HTML5.
To clean out your temp files, go to Start | Run, type: CLEANMGR and click OK. Click OK again to start the utility. Tick all the boxes except "Compress old files" because the latter takes too long, and then click OK. You can run this utility any time you wish by the way.
The above steps will hopefully fix your problem. If not, post here again please.

No pre-installed app that will do all that, and yes, you could buy iWork - or you could download the free (although they do seek donations) LibreOffice: http://www.libreoffice.org/ or OpenOffice: http://www.openoffice.org/porting/mac/

Open Document Management API[ODMA]

We want to know how to integrate open document Management API thru java.

I did a Google search for "ODMA Java". The first two hits I got were two of your posts here. That tells you how much useful information there is on the topic. The third hit was an FAQ; in August 2000 somebody asked "What is the Java support for ODMA?" and nobody has answered yet. The fifth hit is an article that suggests you don't waste your time with ODMA.
This may not seem helpful but it really is. It tells you that you should be trying something else.
