CS4 doesn't allow Export Frame as a Still Image??

In CS3, I could create a still image of a frame (tiff file) by placing the CTI on the frame in the Source Monitor and then choose File>Export>Frame. This would create the file and place it in the Project I could adjust the default of the length of the still image through Preferences>General>Still Image Duration.
The File>Export>Frame option is no longer in CS4.......???
Can anyone tell me the quickest way to create or export a still image from the Source Monitor in CS4??
Thanks a TON!

  • My aperture trash doesn't allow me to 'put back' my images

    Please help
    I am using aperture 3.2.2 on a MacPro3.1 Mac OSX 10.6.8
I suddenly have 5000 of my images in aperture trash. I don't know how they ended up in trash. I fail when trying to put the images back in their projects. When i right-click (or control-click) I have a very short drop down menu to chose from and it doesn't include the 'put back' option?? I have seen people posting before on this problem. I haven't seen a solution yet. Anyone knows how to solve? By the way, I tried exporting to re-import but Aperture doesn't allow this for trash-items...

  • Need Help Pasting Key Frames from one still image to others, and Changing the duration of multiple still images.

I'm working on a stop motion project, and I have at least a thousand still images to work with.
I have adjusted several Key Frame settings on the 1st still image in my project, such as
    Brightness
    Cropping
    Scale
    Position
I now want to apply these exact settings to hundreds of still images at a time that make up one scene in the project (but not all still images in the entire project).. Is there a way to paste or easily transfer them?
Also, there are scenes I'm working on in which I want to change the image duration of hundreds of photos at once, but not change to duration of all images in the project, is this possible?
I've looked at several different web-links, but none of them have what I'm looking for. If you can please help me, I'd be willing to send you $10 through paypal. Knowledge is power; the solution to these problems would save me hours of time. If you don't fully understand my questions I can send you a pictures or a video, pointing out my needs.

    Stan,
    Thanks again for your input.
When the project is created, I don't recall seeing the preference settings until after the project opens the first time.  In that case if certain media was imported into the project panel but not in the sequence, after the duration was changed, it would be necessary to remove the media from the project panel then re-import again.  If there is a workaround to this please let me know.  It also doesn't appear that creating a new sequence would prevent the re-importing.  Could you confirm?
Thanks for the link on automating to sequence--I remember that from CS4.
The application of identical effects to media on the timeline in a sequence was something I had learned back in CS3 or maybe earlier CS4 where the effected, in this case a transition between images was applied then copied then using the paste or (Control V) command, applied to all other stills.  That worked fine but with lots of images, it ends up being a lot of "point and clicks" since the CTI must be moved to each transition insertion point before the paste is applied.
I actually thought that I had seen someone select the remainder of the images in the sequence then apply the paste command but I was never able to make that work.  Have you heard of such a short-cut?
    Much thanks again!!

  • Exporting a 16:9 still image

I imported some video using the anamorphic setup and now I want to take a still frame from it. When I tried it squished it down to 4:3 but I was it to be 16:9 what do I need to do to acheive this. Thanks

the anamorphic flag is just there to tell the clip to display as 16:9 even tho its true aspect ratio is really 4:3 ... this flag doesn't exist for still image formats hence when you export a still and then open it up it displays in its true 4:3 aspect.
just resize/scale the image in photoshop or other image editing app so that the height is reduced by 25%
    alternatively:
you could mark in/out a few frames around the frame you want to export, then export using Export > Quicktime Conversion, and in the Options set the size to a true 16:9
    [ if original is 720 x 576 then you need 720 x 405 ie (width * 9) / 16 ]
reimport the clip and use that to export your still

  • Exporting video results in still image with original sound background

I've tried several times to export my home movie (MOV) into smaller formats using the export function. It worked fine on QT 6 but now I'm on version 7 and it's not working. The final product is a still image of the first frame and the original recording. I've tried exporting to various formats as well with the same result. Any help out there? Thanks!!!

Would it matter if the very first file from the camera was an AVI file? I first had QT convert that file to an MOV file which plays just fine.
As long as the MOV file plays in QT, it shouldn't matter at all. In fact, placing it in a known "space" should indicate it is convertible to other target formats even if only on your system configuration.

  • Stacking video frames to make still image - help please

    Question:
I want to take 2 seconds of video ( 60 frames )and stack all the video frames to make one still image.
I just tried to do this in Photoshop CS3 but found out that this requires CS3 extended version. Is there a stacking feature in Final Cut Express? ( Or in iMovie6 ?)
Any ideas welcome as to how to accomplish this task.
    Thank you in advance.
    Tom

I would say the best advice has already been given, which would be to use a still camera with a long shutter speed. However I suspect you already have your footage and would need to wait for another opportunity to do this. I'd say the next best option would be a motion blur filter, I think stacking each frame would have its problems.
You can easily export your 2 seconds of video to single frame images by exporting to an image sequence, you could then import each still as a layer into photoshop. You would probably find that other stars (having 60 images on top of each other) would be very bright and stand out like a bird of paradise's mating ritual, unless you adjusted the opacity of each which you would likely need to do for the whole of the image excepting the shooting star. I'd say it can be done, but it sounds like a bit of work.

  • How do I export HDV, DV and still images as one HDV sequence?

Hi, my sequence (HDV-PAL) contains mainly HDV footage but also a few DV shots and stills that have a few applied effects. I want to export the whole thing as HDV (because it will be shown on a big screen) and don't mind a bit of lost quality on the DV sections, but would like the best possible outcome. I know it's difficult to mix DV and HDV together, but I've done it, the project is complete, I can't recapture anything (will take too long) and I need to export this thing as beautifully as possible. At the moment any exporting (I've tried lots of different codecs) makes the different fields go crazy, and if I try dump the whole project on a DV50 sequence then all mixed media ratios freak out and become huge. I haven't tried frame blending or blurring yet because I don't know anything about it...
Is there a way to export this project to DVD and also to a DV TAPE without trashing my DV and still images and conserving the high res HDV footage?
    Kerrin
    PowerMacG5 Quad   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   2.5G RAM

To make the MPEG for the DVD and the DV version: Choose file/export/QuickTime Movie... then check ON the "make self contained" option. Open that file in Compressor and choose the lowest time preset you can. Then select another preset to use for that same compression session... from the Advanced Format conversions, choose the DV NTSC preset. The resulting movie will be a DV file you can record to DV tape.
It's pretty likely this will take quite a while to do...

  • Deinterlaced export causes artifacts in still images

When I export to Adobe Media Encoder and select the "Deinterlace" option it does a great job of deinterlacing my interlaced footage. However, any still images in the mix and they immediately pick up artifacts. Any workarounds?

Premiere is actually a horrible deinterlacer.  I'd do that outside of Premiere first, and edit in a progressive sequence.

  • Exporting a freeze frame as a still image

Hi I need to extract a still frame from some footage, how do i do this so i can export it so i can use on a website ?
    Hillster

Here's a really cool way if you have Photoshop, especially if you ever need to export multiple still frames:
Generally after a cut is complete we export a Quicktime movie of it in our favorite format [generally ProRes or XDCAM EX]. Open that file in a Quicktime player.
Open Photoshop create a new document, in our case 1920x1080P.
Place the Quicktime player just above the Photoshop document, scroll to the still you want, hold down shift [this centers the image in the center of the frame] and drag and drop into the Photoshop document.
Do this as many times as you want, each time you drop an image it creates a new layer in the Photoshop document.
Once you have the stills you want, close Quicktime, in Photoshop go to File/Scripts/Export Layers to Files and it will export, name and place the files where you tell it in TIFF, JPEG or whatever format you choose.
We do a lot of corporate stuff and since exporting a still from FCP was much more time consuming than it should be we rarely provided stills. Once we were told about this method we provide 15 to 20 stills from every project for use in brochures and other promotional materials.
The cool things is that they're not aware how quick and efficient it is to do this, and we $till charge for every $till!

  • Exporting high quality still images?

Is it possible to export a high quality still image from video? I have used the export using qt conversion, exported it as a photoshop document and when I bring that doc into photoshop the image quality is poor at 300 dpi. It comes in at 10 inches X 6.67 inches at 72 dpi, but when I make it 300 dpi the image size is only 2.4 inches by 1.6 (this, of course, is when I turn off "resample image")
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Tim

Is it possible to export a high quality still image from video?< </div>
Yes and no. it is no better than your video camera shot it. Generally, for conventional DV, that's roughly 500x800 pixels at a shutter speed of 1/30th second. HD formats and special frame rates, of course, produce other still images.
    720x486 at 72 DPI.< </div>
I beg to quibble, or at least to be a pedant. The 72dpi is an artificial construct imposed by Photoshop. There is no dpi or lpi in video. You only get the raw pixels. You can make the pixels bigger by scaling up or you can throw some away by scaling down but, without additional work like resampling or applying a tool like Genuine Fractals, you cannot get any more pixels.

  • How to output video as still image frames?

    Hi there,
We need to convert a movie file which has something like 375 frames into 60 still image files. How could we go about doing this using After Effects?
We have a lot of movie files to convert, is there a way to batch process this so that we can have it processing over the weekend?
    I'd really appreciate anyone's help!
    Thanks!
    Abi

    That link is helpful.
So if I wanted to render a batch process, I simply add all the movie files into the render queue and then specify for each of the files where I want them to be outputted to... And then once the render button is clicked it will do all of the items in the queue?
For example, for one composition I have 'Best Settings' selected for 'Render Settings' and then for the 'Output Module' I have it set as 'Based on "Lossless" '...
The 'Output Module' settings I have as the format 'JPEG Sequence', 'Post-Render Action: None', 'Video Output' is ticked; 'Channels: RGB', 'Depth: Millions of Colors".
I am outputting it to a specific folder.
Are these settings more or less correct for what I want to do?
Apologies for basic questions being asked, I don't want to start the process for it to go wrong when I am not here to oversee it!!!
    Thanks!

  • Export length of still image not adjustable?

I'm trying to export a bunch of still images as .psd files that I will archive and use repeaedly in future projects. The files will always be 2.5 seconds when used in the future.
The problem is that the images don't want to export as 2.5 seconds.
I adjust the length to 2.5 seconds and Export As QT Conversion > Still Image > PSD. However, when I import the file is always 10 seconds.
Alternatively, I load the clip into the viewer. Adjust the time to 2.5 seconds and Export As QT Conversion > Still Image > PSD. But still the file is 10 seconds upon import.
    Any ideas?
Is there a default setting somewhere I'm not seeing?
    Cheers,
    Curtis

Perhaps you're overlooking the setting in your User Preferences for Still Image Duration?

  • Most efficient way of changing still image frame rates?

I'm using Premiere CS5.5 and have been having issues with the audio/video going out of sync when I upload my video to Vimeo (it's not out of sync prior to uploading it...it only happens after they transcode it). The Vimeo support staff says the problem is that I'm using a variable frame rate, but since there isn't any option (to my knowledge) to choose a constant or variable framerate in Premiere/Adobe Media Encoder, I think I have identified the problem. The primary footage that I shot with is 23.976 fps and that is what my sequence settings and output settings have been, but I also have a lot of still images that I'm using for b-roll, which I finally noticed are 29.97 fps. I changed the Intermediate Media Timebase setting to 23.976 fps in the preferences, but my question now is if there is an efficient way to change the frame rate of all those still images without having to re-import them and re-apply all the various motion effects/key framing that I've already spent a lot of time on?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, I downloaded MediaInfo to explore some of the various versions that I've rendered in my effort to get something that works correctly on Vimeo, and depending on the encoder I saw some of what Ann posted, but I also looked at one on MediaInfo that I had rendered through Adobe Media Encoder and it had a Constant frame rate mode of 23.976, yet I remember watching that one on Vimeo at the time and it was still out of sync--Mediainfo says that version has a variable audio bit rate though, but to my knowledge there isn't an option in AME to choose a constant audio bit rate.
I agree that it's an issue on Vimeo's side, but the chances of them getting their **** together in a timely fashion seem low. The frustrating thing is that I can watch documentary style videos on Vimeo that I know were edited and compressed through Premiere/AME, yet they don't have any audio sync issues. The difference that I noticed between one of those videos and mine is the use of still images in my video. As you can see from an image I uploaded earlier, the default frame rate for still images when I imported them was 29.97 until I changed it yesterday, but it didn't update the images I had already imported. So I'm wondering if there is a way to change the frame rate of those still images without having to re-import the images and make all my edits/key framing all over again.

  • Frame around still image.

Hello -- somehow I have managed to place a frame around my still images. It was cute once, but now I need to get rid of it. I hope to use a still image behind my talent using chroma key. How'd I get that thing on in the first place, and how do I get rid of it!?
    Thanks,
    Docfiddles

    Welcome to the forum.
Personally, I'd do this in Photoshop and create an Action to Batch process the removal of the "frame."
Now, in PrPro, you can apply the Crop Effect to the still image with the "frame." If they are all the same, then once applied to the first, Rt-click, choose Copy. Now, Select all others, Rt-click on them and choose Paste Attributes.
You might want to put a Colored Matte on a lower Video Track for a "background." You could also place an abstract still below.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Can you export frames in CS4?

If this is your frist time seeing me this last week, I just recently upgraded from 6.5 to pro 4.1. There use to be a function to export single frames so you can use them as still images; However, I can't find the function in this version, nor have I been able to find the info in the tutorials or support forums.

The one little limitation/omission with the "fix" in CS4.1 is that the Exported still does not get added to the Project, as it did in other versions through CS3. Once, one had the option to either add it, or not. Now, the still must be Imported into the Project, as there is no longer a choice. At least this simple and necessary feature was added back to CS4.1, though with that one change.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
