CS4: Editable Region locked in design view - weird bug in CS4?

Hi,
I've the following issue to report: My template based webpages contain 3 editable regions. One of them (cText_m0) refuses editing in desgin view though it's editable (colored code) in code-view. Neither ALT+click nor doubleclick helps.
URL of one of the pages afflicted: http://www.schule.suedtirol.it/Lasis/r3.htm
The problem did not occur in DW-Versions minor to CS4.
Is there an issue with the page or with DW CS4?
Thanks for helping me.
Regards
Harald Angerer

Regarding the XML declaration that Nancy suggested omitting,
the XHTML
specs suggest using the line, but it is not required if the
page uses
either UTF-8 or UTF-16 character encoding. See
http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/#strict
where is says in part, "An XML
declaration is not required in all XML documents; however
XHTML document
authors are strongly encouraged to use XML declarations in
all their
documents. Such a declaration is required when the character
encoding of
the document is other than the default UTF-8 or UTF-16 and no
encoding was
determined by a higher-level protocol."
IE only pays attention to the DOCTYPE if it is the very first
thing in the
page. Put anything before the doctype and IE will drop to
quirks mode.
That's just an IE bug that you'll have to live with.

When I set page as template, set editable regions and try to view in browser IE 9 a download box comes up and when i click open it just opens the file again in DW.

Use the Template to spawn a child page.  File > New > Page from Template...
Save the child page as some_file.html and then preview that in your browsers.

  • Page Content Won't Display in Contribute (Edit Mode) or Dreamweaver (Design View)

I have pages on my site that have  decided they don't want to display content either in Contribute (in edit
mode) or in DreamWeaver (in design view). They always look fine in Live view, prior to hitting the 'edit' button or when viewing in a browser. Using CS4 on Windows XP. I use Contribute for small edits and this renders that tool useless as there is no WYSIWYG. It's a pain in Dreamweaver to have to keep previewing in browser when I'm used to working in code/design view. Any help most appreciated. Here's the page I'm currently having the problem with:

  • Can't edit text in CS3 design view

    Hi,
I have a big absolutely positioned DIV tag in most of my
pages, practically the whole page content is inside it.
In DW CS3 design view very often (maybe 50% of all times) if
I click inside it to edit the text, DW selects the entire DIV tag.
The cursor becomes like a cross with arrows, the DIV border becomes
outlined with a thick blue line, and I can't edit the text no
matter how much times I click. If I move the mouse with left button
pressed, this moves the DIV and changes the .css file where the
position is defined. DIV can't be de-selected with Escape, left or
    right clicking.
The only way to get out of this is to click somewhere in the
code view, then go back to design view where hopefully text can be
edited. Sometimes I have to repeat this twice or even 3 times ,
it's extremely annoying and time consuming.
    Is there any workaround?
Like to disable selection of containers in design view, or at
least a quick way to deselect the current selection?
This problem does not appear in DW8 when editing the same
    files.
    thanks

    Nasty. Why?
Do you have an overflow style on this div?

  • CS3 Design View layout bug

Note: this renders correctly in browsers and DW 8 design
    view.
Does anybody else get this effect: css is used to but a solid
background colour on a h1 tag. With the following code
    <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="regContentMain" -->
    <h1>Introduction</h1>
The editor buts the background in the correct place, but the
actual h1 text starts 2/3 they way down the background.
If you put a blank div <div></div> after the
template comment and before the <h1> the background gets
padded down to fit correctly with the text.
If you detatch from the template, it renders correctly.
    Bug I assume.

  • Help - all data fields in all my forms are locked in design view

Working in LiveCycle Designer ES2 v.9 -  I have 10 forms that I've designed for my client. I opened them this morning to edit the design and all the data fields are locked. In the Hierarchy tab, the names are greyed out. I haven't done anything to the forms since saving last night. Some of the forms are really complex and and no way do I want to recreate them. I tried saving with a different name but that doesn't work either. NB. The forms work OK when opened in Acrobat (for filling). It's just the design edits in LiveCycle that I can't do, now.

Thanks. I figured out that I had inadvertently clicked on (enabled) Lock Fields. It took awhile as when that is turned on, the menu item doesn't show that you've turned it on e.g. no check mark or default to "Unlock Fields". If it changed to "Unlock Fields",  I wouldn't have spent so much time trying to figure out what happened:o).
Something the LiveCycle team may want to change in that menu.

  • Page content not viewable in Design View

I am in the process of creating a site and am using a
template for the basis of the pages. All of the pages so far are
working fine, however, when I pasted the nested table into this
    page
    Sage
Concerts, I was able to edit the content in Design view,
changing the font size, color, etc. After saving the page and
closing it I now can only see the actual content of the page when I
am in Code View. No matter where I click in Design view it's like
I'm trying to access a non-editable region. Not being able to see
the content in design view makes it hard (for me at least) to edit
the page. Any thoughts on why this is happening and how to fix it?
I know it's probably an easy fix but it's driving me nuts... thanks
    for your help :)

  • CS6 Inserting table breaks editable region

In DW CS6 I am building out a site based on one template with three editable regions. I generally work in split view building PHP-MySQL sites such as the current one, and I have been building template-driven sites in Dreamweaver since 1998; but this problem has me stumped. Everything works fine until I insert a table into one of the editable regions. That region immediately becomes non-editable in design view (but I can edit in code view). It doesn't matter how I insert the table -- whether I paste code from another page where the table is being delivered, whether I use the DW Insert Table function, or hand-code from scratch. The result is the same -- I can no longer place a cursor in that editable region, in any design window.
I seem to remember from CS5 a similar situation with a workaround that included triple clicking somewhere, but I have not been able to find that in this forum or in my notes. Any suggestions?

The issue exists both at home and at the office. There may be minor differences.  I am now at the office .

  • Path issue leaving me unable to add blog post content in design view

    Hi guys,
I am unable to add blog post content in design view when a template is applied to my blog. BC support have told me they fixed the problem by making minor changes to the paths of the css and javascript files and then told me to post on here for the solution.
When I call the files using <link rel="stylesheet" href="/css/custom.css" /> everything displays perfectly but in BC I can't add blog post content in design view. I can edit in html but this isn't ideal for clients to update the blog.
If I change the paths to <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/custom.css" /> it fixes the problem and I can then edit blog content in design view but all blog pages that are in folders display incorrectly. Only the main blog page display properly.
I'm sure the answer is simple but I can't find it so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
    Pete

I took a look at your page URL and can't find any CSS issues or styles that would directly affect you editing/adding content to a blog post via the content editor.
Make sure you either clear your cache or try in another browser to see if the problem is localized to your current browser.
If you still have the problem can you link me to a screencast (you can use Jing if you don't have a screencast program: http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html) of what you are experiencing?

  • Page body not displaying in Design view

Using CS3, I am trying to edit a page in Design view, however the page does not appear.
    http://www.angeleyesgps.com/index2.html

As you scroll down the page, you will see a Design view screenshot in CS3 (attached to this posting), showing what I am seeing.
Cannot find anything in the code causing this to happen. All other pages appear fine, with body content appearing.
Sure appreciate your help on this!
    Mark

Your table structure is completely messed up.  You have tables nested inside of cells and inside of tables... it's a real mess I'm afraid.  Because you don't have matching pairs of tags for either tables or cells that correspond, the page isn't showing up in Design view.
I think you need to start again with the table structure -and make sure you nest them correctly.
Also, not sure why you have the content within a form tag... (just under the body - and then the corresponding closing form tag at the end of the document.
    <body leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" onLoad="start();" style="background-color:#1b140e">
    <form name="form1" method="post" action="">
This is what the validator says:

It' really a matter of starting again  (sorry !).

  • Design View showing collapsed components.

Ever since I add tomahawk Menu component in my project, all other components are not shown properly in the design view of jdeveloper. I added the menu component to one file and all the files in the project are now showing collapsed view (Only parent component is shown that too in a box). I tried restarting jdeveloper but the problem still remains. I cannot add/edit any components in design view now because of the above reason. How do I go about now?

    Hi,
it appears that there is a problem with the WYSIWYG editor and 3rd party components not rendering properly. The outline view is a fallback that JDeveloper uses when it can't show the WYSIWYG (its the outline view). Not sure if you have a support contract inwhich case you could file this as a bug? If not, I'll put that down on my list of issues to track and follow up on.
    thanks

  • How do I Hide open accordion panels, tooltips, etc. in Design view in Muse

I am adding tooltips and accordion panels in Muse.  The problem is that, when I am editting the site in Design view, I cannot get the tooltips and panels to close... and so any other objects, text, etc is hidden by the open tooltip / accordion panel... I worked around this somewhat by creating another element in the accordion panel that contains no text, and so shrinks the whole accordion when that element is active, but this is cumberson, and I can find no comparable work-around for tooltips...

AppleScripts can be saved as run-only, which will keep a casual user from seeing the code, but there isn't a way to keep plain text from being seen.  You should never place sensitive information in plain text in your script/application, or even use them with global variables, since those are also saved with the script.
The security shell utility can be used to get a password from the system keychain, for example:
    getKeychainPass("Apple") -- example
    on getKeychainPass(itemName)
      return text 2 thru -2 of (do shell script "security 2>&1 >/dev/null find-generic-password -gl " & quoted form of itemName & " | awk '{print $2}'")
    end getKeychainPass

  • Is design view broken in DW CC 2014.1?

i open an html file to edit it
sometimes DW design view shows the styles in the doc
sometimes DW design view doesn't show the styles in the doc
...if DW happens to be showing the styles, that sometimes lasts for a while and stops.
i don't know if DW is stripping code -- insisting on some new "design principles" advocated by the lovely people who deprecated the center tag -- or if DW design view is just broken -- or what.
    can you fill me in?

Usually what you describe is caused by html errors in your code. Run your page through the validator at http://validator.w3.org and clean up any errors found.
If you're working with clean code and the problem persists, post a link to your page here so we can take a look at what's going on.

  • Design View - Everything Highlights

    In Design view of CS5 Dreamweaver (OS Windows 7), when I click to make a minor revision, everything highlights.  I read a post to right click in the design view & go to Element View > Full because I have the following style in my wrap div in my CSS file - overflow:hidden;
I use this style all the time, and this is the first time I'm having problems with working in the Design view of Dreamweaver.  The solution above works, but sometimes I have to do it twice before it takes affect.  Anybody know the reason this happens?
    Thanks.

Now I'm not sure why I felt a need to use overflow:hidden; in both my wrap and container div tags.  To make a long story hopefully shorter:
I have a live site and I recently copied all files to a new site which are uploaded to a test folder, because the site is being redesigned.
The live site has the overflow:hidden; in both the container and wrap div tags.  I have never had a problem editing content in the Design View for the live site or for other sites.  Here is a link to one of the pages:
http://www.greenkarat.com/mykarat/reuse.asp so you can view the source.  The direct link to the stylesheet is:
    http://www.greenkarat.com/css/greenkarat.css
In the test site, as soon as I clicked within the Design View, everything got highlighted.  I just tried something different.  I removed the overflow:hidden; from both the wrap and container div tags, and now I can work in the Design View with no problem, which brings up the question of what was the purpose of the overflow:hidden style in the first place, but I have used that on all websites I have programmed.  Here is a link to the same web page in the test folder:
http://www.greenkarat.com/test2011/mykarat/reuse.asp.  The direct link to the stylesheet is:
http://www.greenkarat.com/test2011/css/greenkarat.css.  The overflow:hidden has been removed from the container and wrap div tags, so I no longer have a problem.
If I put the overflow:hidden back in this css file, I, once again, have the problem with everything being highlighted in design view.
I don't understand why there's no problem with the overflow:hidden for the live site, but there is a problem in the test site.
    Thanks for any help!
