CS4 Encore and Photoshop problem

Hello.  I was using CS4 Encore and opening a pre-packaged menu (Lakeside) and used the right-click "edit in Photoshop" option.  I've used it before without trouble, but it's been a while.  I'm seeing several oddities now and don't know what's going on.
1) Right-clicking in Encore and choosing "edit in Photoshop" opens Photoshop but not the actual file.  It just goes to a blank screen in Photoshop.
2) If I open the file manually and make changes, they don't save.  As in, literally, the file doesn't save.  I can choose save and it doesn't return an error, but every time I choose "close" or "exit" I get the prompt to save again, and after saving if I force quit or something then the file does not exist in my target drive or update in Encore.
I tried re-associating .psd files with Photoshop but it didn't work (they also appeared to be already associated).  I haven't made any changes lately that I'm aware of.
Thanks.

Well, I like "gremlins."
Only thing that I can think of, would be if the Library Menu PSD was Read Only, but that should have yielded an error message to that effect.
Also, the first thing that one normally sees is the warning about PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio), as all Menus, not designed for BD (Blu-ray Disc) will have a PAR for non-square pixels. A full HD Menu will have a PAR = 1.0 (Square Pixels). That warning is just a reminder about the display, which will be Square Pixels, even though the PAR is not 1.0.
One oddity, that I have encountered, but on a very limited and random basis, is where the Save from PS does not always update back through the link to Encore. Seems to happen about 1:10 +/- basis. Because I am often working on multiple Menus in a session, I just make sure that I do a Save at least 3x, during the editing process. Why 3x seems to be the magic number is unknown, but then, it always works for me (a few others have found similar issues with Save not updating, but not many). I just do my editing, hit Save (or Ctrl-S), then close up my Layer Sets, and hit Save, or Ctrl+S again, study my work, and do one last Save, or Ctrl+S. That has always worked perfectly, and the Menu does always update in Encore.
Yeah, probably gremlins...
Good luck,
Hunt

  • OS X Yosemite - Ilustrator and Photoshop problems.

I have a MacBook Pro, just over a year old. Updated to OS X Yosemite last week.
Since updating Illustrator and Photoshop run much slower.
Fonts don't show up in Illustrator, photoshop cursor flickers whenever I try do anything like there isn't enough power to run the program.
I have 408GB of 498GB of memory free so that isn't the issue.
This is really frustrating as I use them everyday as a designer and now wish I hadn't upgraded.
I have uninstalled both programs and re installed but this has made no difference..
Has anyone else had these problems / anyone help?
    Any info is much appreciated,

I've tried restarting a few times, and I still have the same problems. Any other suggestions?

  • Restoring CS4 Illustrator and Photoshop after an error message of 6 then 5

Recently had a problem with email on OS10.9.5 and had to reinstall the system. The migration took 27 hours (like watching grass grow). When it finished I couldn't use my Photoshop or Illustrator (CS4) which was working fine before. Now I get a Error 5 or 6 message. No phone for Adobe so can't talk to a person, downloaded a License Recovery 111 which doesn't work. Don't want to upgrade, just restore the CS4. What can I do.

Reinstall the software properly. Run the cleaner tool if necessary.

  • CS4 Exporting and Importing Problems

    Hey all,
I joined this forum specifically so I could ask this question.  I have been looking all around and can not find the answer.
I have a Canon Vixia HF S10, with internal 32 gb memory, and am trying to import directly into Premiere Pro.  Now, I have the media browser set up to AVCHD, and the icon next to the files is that filmstrip and speaker, showing that it knows it's video.  However, when I try to drag it in, it acts like it's importing, and then pops up an error stating that the "Format is not supported".  Now it says on Adobe that it IS supported, and I can import it elsewhere.  I've tried re-installing it, using Clean Script, and nothing works!  I've also updated it every time I've installed it, though I've tried without updating as well.
My other question is this: I want to export a project as a .dv or DV stream, and I cannot find an option for it.  Simple as that.  It also says that exporting as .dv is supported in CS4.  What's the problem?  Is there something I need to download for either of them?
I'm running it on a Mac, on Leopard.
    Thanks a lot,
    Nili.

I am having the same problem. The file extension that I am trying to import
is .mts - AVCHD format which Adobe does not seem to recognise. I have taken it from a panasonic camera. Camera makes no difference, it is the format in which the file is stored. I have also also opened up
a customer chat with technical support on adobe. Could it be something to do with missing codecs?

  • Lost communication btw cs4 bridge and photoshop cs4

I cannot double click a thumb in the bridge and enter Photoshop cs4. It brings up the Microsoft viewer instead. Nothing I have tried corrects this. I can get to Photoshop cs4 through camera raw, but that means opening all jpegs and tiffs in raw. Can anyone help? Perhaps I will need to download the upgrade to cs4 again. But installing the plugins for fractals and NIK software can be a drag. I no longer have cs3, so I can't revert to it
I have Windows XP professional on a Dell, two 500 gig internal drives and a 500gig LaCie external drive
    Thanks
    Paul

That camera was recently supported for the first time by ACR 8.6, which needs at least CS6 to run.  You will never be able to open those raw NEF files in CS4, as there will never be an update for CS4.
Your choices are to upgrade, or to use the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 on each and every batch of raw NEF files in order to convert them to raw DNGs that you can open in CS4.

Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 8.6

  • Mavericks and photoshop problem

Using photoshop CS3 in Mavericks and I get a ‘can't save file because it is already in use or was left open’ message when I try and save a photoshop file.
Found a fix online which is to turn off ‘Show preview column’ in show view options, but this is a pain because I like to have the preview with image and file info.
Is there a way around this, seems a strange way to get around this problem.

Resetting Photoshop Preferences has been known to solve Photoshop printing problems, especially when you have no problems printing from other Mac apps.
Hold down cmd-opt-shift while starting Photoshop and click Yes when the reset dialog comes up.

  • CS4 Mask And BRUSH Problems

Ok so I have Photoshop CS4, and for some crazy reason when I add a Layer mask to a layer, and then try to paint with black to "erase" a portion of the image, it DOES erase, BUT not fully! It is as if the transparency is set to like 95%, and I can still see a very light semi transparent ghosted portion of the image. Its as if it is not fully hiding the pixels. I have checked and I definitely have the opacity of the brush set to 100% and I am using black and not a shade of grey. Any ideas?? Ive tried turning off the open gl and restarting Photoshop to no avail. And i have also rest the preference file by holding ctl, alt, shift when starting PS.
ALSO... another issues is that when i choose a brush to paint with, if i use the [] bracket keys to increase the size of the brush, at some point About 75% of the brush just disappears! I can still paint with it, and it paints fine, but the "preview" circle that shows the size of the brush is only showing the top left corner! weird stuff. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and here is the info on my video card and OS.

  • CS4 Bridge and Photoshop crash when closing

I am experiencing regular crashes with both Bridge and PS when I attempt to close them. Everything works until that time. I am using an iMac running 10.5.6. This is more nuisance than worry. Any suggestions?
    Cheers,
    Jeff

    hi jeff
I've seen random crashes on closing and random freezes with a new box and 10.5.6. There are a couple posts here about stability issues, I'm not sure where the problem is, PS, OS, fonts, who knows, but there's something going on.
And, since we (end users) don't have access to a bug list or known problems list with the exception of posts here on the forum, it seems that we are destined to revisit the same problems.

Subject: Change Background in Menu Creation  Encore CS4 and Photoshop
There should be no problem when adding the image of your choice, with Edit in Photoshop.
When you choose Edit in Photoshop, several things happen:
1.) a TMP PSD for that Menu is created.
2.) links are created between En and PS
3.) PS is launched, and that TMP PSD is then Opened in PS.
When one has edited that TMP PSD in PS, they must do a Save to allow those links back to En*.
If you are doing a Save_As, or Save_As_a_Copy, those links will NOT be followed, and the Menu will NOT update in En.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
I have encountered some instances, where a single Save does not follow those links. With experimentation, I have found that 3 Saves (Ctrl+S) will force those links to be followed, and the Menu updated in En. Not sure why this happens sometimes, but 3 seems to be the "magic number," at least for me.

  • "Left Behind" by Flash Player lately (although by Illustrator and PhotoShop earlier)

Adobe and Apple need to be more supportive of older systems and use of older software that one uses for special applications. I need to use Classic periodically and have to do my "gymnastics" in order to accomplish things that current or slightly earlier software will not accomplish. I even have to go back to Illustrator III to get "blends" that produce separate items when the blends are "unjoined." If I did not go back to III, I could not accomplish my tasks — "import" these changes into a later generation Illustrator. The same is true for PhotoShop. Some procedures will not operate in later Photoshop, so I must go back to 2.5 or 3 in order to make some items that will then be opened in a later version. Meanwhile, I must first use a non-Intel machine and a system that will run Classic, or I cannot accomplish the task I must undertake. Now I find that Flash Player will not work on these systems, and I cannot get videos when I need them.
Hurray for progress, but not when benefit is for the software and hardware developer's convenience and sale of product alone. It comes across as inadequate "customer care" when some of these customers are developing good things that should be a complement to the success of the software and hardware makers' products. If their [Adobe, Apple, and other computer industry businesses] goal is only to make money, and lots of it, then they have succeeded. Of course they have [also] succeeded in frustrating most of us enough that we will not write much on this panel [on the previous comments page I encountered] because the "submit a question" box inhibits one from seeing [the last three letters of] what he is writing, and thus writers will [be expected to "by default," it seems] leave very short questions and comments. To me this is manipulation and control, not "service." But again isn't that a "sign of or time," the interest of gaining for one's self [primarily], mostly at the expense of others? I guess that famous Adobe as well as well-known Apple has succumbed to that illness, as many others in our society have done as well in "drinking that Kool-Aid."
Returning to "service-oriented products” would ultimately guarantee sales, and customer satisfaction. Unfortunately many do not realize they should be "dissatisfied" because they have been "trained" by businesses [sort of like Pavlov's dog] to "roll over and play dead" and to "just hand over the money," even if the business is not providing the "best," as it "should," and "could." Disgruntled? Dissatisfied? No, more like "disappointed" in people of executive leadership who are "sailing for themselves" rather than for "everyone else on board." Perhaps this message will reach the right ears, and change will be made, and we all be included in the "business relationship" [rather than just the businesses]. I hope this is taken to heart, for it is the "crux" of the matter. I am not the only one out there that feels this way. Maybe I am sounding out what others did not know what was "really bugging them" about the process they have been undergoing [I think I am — haven't we lost something we should "return" to?].
Yep, I need Adobe to support Flash Player on Mac OS 10.4.11 non-Intel machines myself [I have, however, gotten used to the Illustrator and PhotoShop "problems" it  seems].

  • Make Photoshop CS4 (normal) to Photoshop CS4 extended

    Hi people,
I tried the whole day upgrading from Photoshop CS4 to Photoshop CS4 extended.
    The situation is:
a few months ago, I had installed and activated Photoshop CS4 (normal) at a workstation.
Now we need at this Workstation Photoshop CS4 extended.
    What have i done yet:
At first I uninstalled the normal Photoshop CS4, rebooted the workstation, and installed from the DVD Photoshop CS4 with an extended key.
After the installation has finished, and I started Photoshop CS4, I recognized that its not the extended Version, its just the normal one.
After googling the internet, I found the "WinCS5Cleanupscript".
So I have uninstalled the not extended Photoshop CS4 again,
    did a reboot,
run the CleanUpScript (which does not recognize any CS4 on the workstation),
    reboot again,
installed Photoshop CS4 with the key from the extended version,
    reboot,
startet Photoshop CS4 and recognized also, that it was not extended.
    Next step:
Ran the CleanUpScript, which found something from CS4 (what is ok, because I did not uninstall PSCS4 this time)
CleanUpScript cleaned some CS4 thins up.
    Reboot.
Uninstall everything that begans with an "A" and ended with "dobe" from the workstation.
    Reboot.
Than I ran RegCleaner, cleaned everything that began with an "A" and ended with "dobe".
    Reboot.
Checked again with RegCleaner if anything was left, but RegCleaner did not recognize any more Adobe things.
Startet Photoshop CS4 and recognized also, that it was not extended.
What can/should I do, to be able to install Photoshop CS4 extended?
    I have no more ideas.
    regards Kai

Sorry if am not realy precise and correct enough, I try to explain it more exactly:
My Company has purchased Photoshop CS4 (normal) and Photoshop CS4 extended.
For both versions, do I have a separate key; one for the normal, and one for the extended version.
I have the Situation, with one workstation, that there is Photoshop CS4 (normal) installed and activated with a (normal) key, since a half year and it works propperly.
Now we need at this workstation Photoshop CS4 extended. But I can't "upgrade" my PhotoshopCS4 (normal) to Photoshop CS4 extended.
I know that the extended key works for the extended Version, because we also have workstations that needs PhotoshopCS4 extended since Photoshop was installed there.
    My "upgrade"-way was:
    - uninstalled, PhotoShop CS4 (normal) from this workstation
    - Installed it again from the DVD
    - entered the key from the extended Version
    - waited half an hour, since the installation finished
    - rebootet the workstation
    - startet PhotoshopCS4 an then I recognized, that this is not the extended Version
    - and now, I do not know, what I can do
Now after reading the other posts, there could be one mistake that I could had made.
And its, that I did not have deactivated PhotoShopCS4, but logicaly will it not be deactiveted during the uninstallation?
sorry if my english is too bad, if this is the case let me know, and I try to explain it more exactly.
    regards and thanks
    Kai

  • Adobe CMM and Photoshop CS4 File Info problems

I installed the Adobe Color Management Module several days ago.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3618
Today when I opened the File Info dialog in Photoshop CS4,I got a blank black window. Same went for the Kuler window and other extensions under the Window menu. Other panels such as the palettes and toolbox were fine.
I went through reset prefs, reinstalled PS,and reinstalled my video driver.
    Same problems.
Uninstalled the Adobe CMM and the panels returned to normal.
I don't know exactly what happened, but something this forum should know about.

Chris,I downloaded and reinstalled the CMM and the problem repeated.
File Info: blank, as well as the Kuler, and Connect extensions under the Windows menu. Additionally, any custom panels installed via Configurator also went blank.(although I had uninstalled those on my first round of troubleshooting)
Again as soon as I uninstalled the CMM,I got the File Info, Kuler, and Connect windows back.
This is on a Toshiba A205-S5843 running Vista SP1
I also tried the CMM on a Toshiba A75 (Windows XP)with a trial of CS4 Extended. There were no problems on that configuration with the CMM installed.
I don't know what it is,but thought it should be passed along.

You could always set all to default and start from scratch.
