CS4 - Erase Pencil and Brush Size not right

Boy...to explain this...
I can have either PENCIL or BRUSH picked for ERASE. The nice circle appears as it did in CS3. It has a radius of x-units. I am on my layer...I click expecting everything inside the circumference to erase...well what is erased is x-units MINUS a few units. No matter what size BRUSH or PENCIL I use it doesn't erase out to the circumference...makes it impossible to do fine erasing like I could with CS3/2/CS. OPACITY is set to 100%. HARDNESS is 100%. I see no other adjustments. HELP!

Bill, I meant Normal (old way, shows the greyest areas, almost to 50% opacityof the brush)
And Full Size (newer way, shows total area affected by the brush, even areas less covered)
You are not painting with a graphic tablet, right? You would have mentionned it, of course...

[SOLVED] TTY font and screen size not right after switch GUI- cons

I have a small problem that I need some help with. I lost my ttys when in r/l 5. So, I appended my krnl boot line w/ vga=773. That gave me fb in tty. But I saw that the top of the screen was about 30% down from the top of the actual screen. To fix that, I (disabled kms) put radeon.modeset=0 on the krnl boot line. Now, when go from the GUI back to the terminal, the line spacing is doubled and the bottom of the screen is invisible.
hardware in question:
IBM thinkpad T41 laptop
Radeon video (1024x768)
Pentium M 1.6GHz
512MB RAM
software in question:
krnl 2.6.33-ARCH (standard krnl)
GDM & XFCE4
I don't know what else to provide, so please let me know.
Any suggestions?

Use of the standard font for consol. will prevent this problem.

CS4 Clone Stamp and Dodge/Burn not Working

CS4 clone stamp is kaput. Flattening image does not help. Source region shows in the cursor circle when pointing to target region, but when I left-click and hold, the target region shows, and cloning does not occur. Tried resetting the tool, no help. Opacity is 59, flow is 85 and hardness is 51.
Likewise tried the dodge/burn tool, does not work either.
Using PS v. 11.0.1 Tried to download windows patch to update to v. 11.0.2, but the msi file is not recognized as a valid windows installer.
I have CS3 on my notebook. Cloning the same region there works fine.
Any ideas appreciated.

I don't see anything obvious you've done wrong.
Some things to try:
Try temporarily disabling the use of OpenGL through Edit - Preferences - Performance, or selecting an alternate level (Basic/Normal/Advanced).
Try disabling the "Show Overlay" feature in the Clone Source panel.
Check the web site of the manufacturer of your video card for updated video drivers.

Photoshop Elements 11 Selection and brush tool not working right

I have this problem where I select parts of an image I am trying to draw, and I want to fill the selected regions of the image with color but whenever I use the brush or the paint bucket tool to fill it, little tiny regions outside of the selection are also painted, now I am not sure if I don't have the settings right, or if the software is broken. I have attached two screenshots that show the problem, please someone explain to me how I can fix this.

Also when I am trying to attach images from my computer to a discussion here in the adobe forums I can't because the "insert image" remains greyed out even though I have selected the image file I would like to attach.

It appears that the selection is not accurate, i.e. the "marching ants" extend beyond the object. If you are using the selection brush for this purpose, on the tool's option bar, you will see icons via which you can add to, or subtract from, the selection.
Once you have created the selection with precision, go to Edit menu>fill selection. In this dialog there are several options which are self explanatory.
You can also place the selection on its own layer via CTRL+J, then use the eraser tool to touch up. I do this frequently. It helps to place a layer with contrasting color below the selection layer temporarily to facilitate visualization. Be sure to delete this layer when you are done.
To post a picture file, save it to disk, then click on the camera icon in the reply box here, click browse, and point to where the file is on disk, then insert.

Firefox 5.0 stalls while watching videos (at least) and the only way to get it back working is to close it and restart it, and this is not right !

I have been using Firefox 5.0 for the past few days. I have been experiencing the following error : I watch videos and suddenly, the video stops. From that point, it becomes impossible to open new tabs, especially, I tried to use the search box (with Google or Yahoo) on the top right of the page and got no result.
However, if I close the browser and restart it, Firefox works again, until it drops again. I therefore have to close it and open it again every 5 minutes to read a video (the problem also appears when not using the video). The only thing that might cause this that is not Firefox could be my latest upgrade from Xmarks, however I disabled the thing and still got the issue.
I would like to uninstall Firefox 5.0 from now and put Firefox 4 at least until the browser is more stable, but how do I do that ?

List bullets and IE 11 not right

I do not understand what is going on with my unordered list in IE 11. The bullets are on the wrong side of the image. They display correctly in FF and Chrome. But IE is giving me a fit. Here is the structure:

Quicktime Plugin crashes and Window size not correct when running a course from an LMS (Coursemill)

I am trying to run a course from an LMS (Coursemill) and a couple issues are occurring.
First, the quicktime plugin crashes, therefore the mp3 sound of the course does not play. When I reload the page, I get an "Unable to find API adapter" error message and the page won't load.
Also, the predetermined window size does not work properly and I end up with vertical and horizontal scroll bars which I do not want.
These issues are of high importance and need a solution ASAP. Please contact me.

Have downloaded CC photoshop and brush tool not working

Hi, I have downloaded PS and the brush tool does not work. I downloaded PS last week and set up a watermark to use on my photos using the define brush preset. It wouldnt work,so i googled a heap of things to try and nothing worked.I made sure opacity was 100% and also that i was on a layer and nothing worked, I have just uninstalled and reinstalled and went to a new PSD and the brush still doesnt work.Please help, it is really frustrating. You have the History Brush selected. Normal brush is two icons up the tool bar.

How do i transfer a rental movie... it shows under my library.. but that is the only place and I can not right click to add or drag and place in my device

Susan, when I am learning new apps nowadays, I have to take notes of useful keyboard shortcuts and operations, because by the time I get to chapter five, I am struggling to remember half of chapter 1 :-). Best advice I can give is to concentrate learning those aspects of PS that you will use in the short term, and add new skills further down the road after you have consolidated the first stuff.

Adobe Illustrator 'Actual Size' Not Right

I have a MacBook Pro (OSX 10.5.4)with the display preference set to 1680 x 1050. When I use Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop CS and click the icon in the view menu to 'Actual Size' what I see in my screen is smaller than the actual size. Does anyone know what I can do to to be able to have things appear on my screen in the true actual size?

Library size and Ipod size not adding up???

Hello All,
My library is telling me that I have only 8.8GB used. My Ipod id telling me I have only approx 2GB free space left. It is a 20GB ipod which should hold about 5000 songs but I've only about 2400 so the numbers don't add up??
I've deleted all playlists as I guessed these doubled up on memory(do they double up, if I have a playlist called Friday night with 3Gb of songs in it, does this reduce the memory by this amount even though the songs are in the library already?)
Deleting the playlists made no difference.
Help running out of space

Re installing Photoshop CS4 on an upgraded computer and it will not accept the serial number. Unable to deactivate Photoshop before upgrading computer due to hardware failure. Note that Adobe Photoshop CS4 New Install Bundle package consists of the new Photoshop CS4 Upgrade bundled together with the qualifying product, in this case an Adobe Photoshop CS2 License. I have tried both the CS2 and CS4 Serial numbers and both have not worked.
