CS4 Extended - Vista SP2 Compatible?

I see where I can buy a "100% guaranteed software" from a site.  It states Operating System as Vista w/SP1.  I have installed SP2.  Will on-line purchase work for me.  I've also seen postings to be sure to install some recent update (11.0 ? maybe).  I don't want to get software that doesn't work.  Thanks.

CS4 extended works on SP2. But if the price of CS4 is too good to be true then I would question myself if it worth the risk. PS CS4 is expensive. You can get it cheaper if your a student but that is about it. The risk of getting pirate software that won't work but will add extra little spyware gifts to your computer is a real bummer. Buyer beware: but don't say you were not warned.

Customer Notes: Photoshop CS4 on 64 bit will only print a thumbnail, but on 32 bit it works fine.  Reinstalled drivers, no change.  print drivers are running from \windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\.  All other programs 32/64 bit print without issue.
    1) How exactly you are trying to print ?
File, Print, select 'scale to fit media', click print.
    2) Are you getting any Error Message, If yes than what is it?
    No.
    3) Which product & version are you using?
    Photoshop Extended 11.0.1
The print problem happens on every single file I try to print.File is attached in the case
    Case number: 181143264

What is the printer? If the printer was known maybe someone might chime in.
Xerox 7760 has a problem history found on google with PS CS4 Extended on Vista 64 bit that was never resolved.

  • Photoshop CS4 extended with Vista 64?

My question: Is Photoshop CS4 extended supported by Vista 64? (I want to change from Windows XP to Windows Vista 64). Thanks for information.

Yes it is. The installation will put a 64-bit and a 32-bit version on the computer. The latter is handy if you use plug-ins* which are not available in 64-bit.
You may also need to get new drivers for printers, scanners, etc, and probably need to update your video drivers.
*Do not bung a load of old plug-ins in the plug-in folder without checking first.

  • Which version of photoshop is compatible with my Mac OS X v.10.6.8? Should I use Photoshop CS4 Extended or CS5 Extended?

Which version of photoshop is compatible with my Mac OS X v.10.6.8? Should I use Photoshop CS4 Extended or CS5 Extended?

CS5 works fully on my Macbook Pro, but it all depends on your specs. If you have a newer MBP on SL, you should be fine. Photoshop isn't terribly demanding on the computer so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Whichever one you can get is fine.

  • RAW files in CS4 Extended, I'm Wndows Vist platform

I have a Canon EOS 7D and a Canon EOS 50D and CS4 Extended, I've downloaded the camera raw 5.3 updater for windows.  The CS4 is recognising my raw files on my 50D but not my 7D, can someone help me out?

Get the latest 5.7 update. Support for the Canon 7D was added in 5.6 and is not available in 5.3.
    The 5.7 Update for Windows:

I'm curious--what links or information lead you to download the 5.3 updater instead of the latest 5.7 updater? I assume you downloaded the update recently (April 22 or 23, 2010) based on the date of your post.

  • Will Photoshop CS4 extended work on XP pro x64?

Heya, I'm on the verge of purchasing Adobe Photoshop CS4 extended but I can't seem to find any relevant information stating if it works on Windows XP professional x64, any ideas?
    Regards
    Paul

I have set up installations at clients running XP x64. I haven't had one fail yet. If you want the advanced video card abilities you may run into an issue. Adobe has thoughtfully provided Registry scripts to hack some Video Cards. I often have to use them. Just be aware that Adobe doesn't Officially support XP x64, if that's a concern to you.
But I do like Vista x64 better for CS4, now that SP2 is out.

  • CS-15 and Windows Vista SP2

    Hi,
I´m wondering if it is possible to connect to internet with the CS-15 usb modem when I´m using Windows Vista SP2? It hasn´t been any problem when installing the modem and it gets contact with the 3G net too.
The problem is that I can´t connect to internet. When I´m trying I get the message "No available connection profile". When I go to options/settings/connections in the Nokia Internet Modem software  there is the same "No available connection profile" message too. If I try to create a new profile I get the message: "The name is invalid: (connection name)"
I have tried every possible solution I have thought of and that I have find on different forums on Internet with no result. When I tried the modem on my parents computer with Windows 7 it worked just fine!
Because of all this I think that the CS-15 modem isn´t compatible with Windows Vista SP2. Does someone now if this is the case, and is there any update available to get it working with Windows Vista SP2? I have to get a solution soon because i just trying the modem out, and if I don´t get it working within a few days I have to return the modem back to the seller.
    Thanks,
    Moffa

Thanks for the head's up Walter.
Do we have any idea when 7 will be released?
Secondly, is there any known workaround? I've found some of the web that extended the FileSystemView, but when I attempted one of them, it kept *.lnk files from appearing the Drop Down menu, but if I clicked on one in the window of the chooser, it broke with the same error.
The only reason I ask for a work around, is my employeer is not the fastest about updating the JRE allowed on the network/machines, so I may be stuck with 1.6.0_22(b02) for a while.
    Again, thanks for the guidance.

  • CS4 Extended VERY Slow to Open Program!!!???

I just dropped a very large sum of $ to purchase CS4 Extended and the #$*@#  thing is taking over 5 minutes to open!!! (Yes, I've timed it.) Once open it appears to run fine, although I've yet to put it through it's paces much.  The obvious answer would be that I have an undersized slow computer.  However, that is far from the case. I have a brand new Dell laptop with plenty of 'horsepower', much more than the system requirements listed on the outside of the box.  It does the same thing with both the 64 bit and 32 bit version.
Here are a few of the "vitals" on the laptop:
Operating System: Windows Vista 64-bit Version: 6.0 Service Pack 1
    Processor Core Duo2: 2493 MHz
    Video Card: VIDI GeForce 8600M 250MB GT/PCI/SSE2
    Built-in memory: 4093 MB
    Image cache levels: 4
    Hard Drive: 500G
Is anyone else having this problem??? If so, what have you done to solve it.  Needless to say, I'm VERY VERY disappointed at this point. I had PS7 before and should have stuck with that!
    thanks for your help

PROBLEM SOLVED:  After several hrs. with Adobe and Microsoft on the phone over the last two weeks, we soloved the problem.  Adobe never could figure out what the solution was.  However, when I installed Vista Service Pack #2 everything started to work just fine.  Now CS4 loads in about 10 seconds, like it should!
Both Microsoft and Adobe came to the conclusion that something was not working with my Dell XPS 1530 NIVIDA video driver and Photoshop.  Neither one know exaclty why SP2 soloved the problem.  Adobe is going to do some more research with Dell and NIVIDA on the issue, at least that's what he said he was going to do. Apparently I'm not the first Dell XPS 1530 with this issue.
    Thanks for everyone's help!

  • Initial issues with PS CS4 Extended Windows XP Pro.

Initial issues with PS CS4 Extended Windows XP Pro.
CS3 worked just fine but had many issues with Bridge CS3. So frustrating that the $$ to upgrade to CS4 seem worth it. Mostly works OK with the following exceptions:
    1. Sometimes the file menu selections are non-selectable grey including fundamental functions like Open and Exit not even clicking on the x will allow PS to close! I found a workaround, I can select a tool that is not currently selected (like the crop or brush) and now the menu items appear.
    2. The Arrange Documents drop down menu is blank except for the lower text portion. All icons are missing. Roll over text popup shows what is supposed to be on the menu but no icons.
    3. I have setup Bridge CS4 to auto start at logon. Works OK but sometimes for whatever reason stays busy after I close. Task Manager shows Bridge using up to 25% of CPU time and the program is not even open!
    5. I purchased a couple Canon EOS 50Ds as backup cameras for our business. Worked last week with CS3 and Bridge with Raw 4.6 upgrade. Does not work with RAW 5.0 in CS4bummer!

I had the same problem with blank/missing "Arrange Documents" icons. And I use NIK and OnOne plugins (CS4 & Vista). These plugins are all supposed to be compatible with CS4 and I use them ALOT - so I refused to remove them. Today I also started having a problem with an error re: needing to install a printer before I could select print functions.
I found the answer to both problems!! While researching the error message I found information from Adobe support stating that you should:
    1. Quit Photoshop
    2. Vista: Rename the Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings\Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp file to Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.old
    Windows XP path: Documents and Settings/[username]/Application Data/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings/Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp
    3. Start Photoshop - it will create a new preferences file.
My print error message is gone AND I have Arrange Documents icons!!!

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended

I am trying to install Photoshop CS4 extended on my computer running Vista Business without unistalling Photoshop CS3 extended.
The installation installed Photoshop CS4, Adobe media, adobe air, Bridge etc but failed to install other components such as language pack.
The installation failed even if I stop Adobe Acrobat Sppedrun and other Adobe software.
Can someone tell me if I have to uninstall CS3 before installing PS CS4 Extended

    Hi Brian ,
What error message appeared when the installation was failed ? Is there by any chance some antivirus running on the system ? i would recommend you to close all open application , stop antivirus and then try to install.

  • Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop CS4 Extended trial version

    Hello,
I have Photoshop CS4 installed on my Windows Vista system and wanted to download the Photoshop CS4 Extended trial.
I tried to download the Photoshop CS4 Extended trial on the desktop as well as on the laptop and wasn't successful.
I was able to download other Adobe trial applications such as Flash CS4, After Effects CS4 and so forth.
I thought the issue mentioned above was due to the fact that Photoshop CS4 was already installed or maybe cause only Photoshop CS4 is available for the trial and not the Extended version similar to CS4 Encore?
    Annick Vanderschelden

    Thanks for the answers...
I think John understands me. As a matter of fact I have a PS Standard
CS2, CS3 and CS4 installed on my system and was wondering why I wasn't able to install a PS CS4 Extended trial. Apparently you just can't.
It's a pity 'cause as a consequence if you want to try the Extended version you have to get rid of the Standard version first and then download the Extended trial version?
I think it would also be better that the Adobe site should mention that you cannot download the Extended version when you already have the Standard installed? For example if you hover over the PS CS4 icon here, you will notice the 'try' link. Then you might expect that you just can download and install the application whether you have the Standard already on your system or not.

  • CS4 Extended with Camera Raw Reinstalled on New Computer (old one died) will not open CR2.

I had CS4 Extended installed on an HP laptop that recently died.  I have a Canon 5D Mark II and have been using camera raw with CR2's off of that camera for at least 2 years.
I still have the disks so I reinstalled the Photoshop on the new computer.  Now I can't open CR2's.  It says the file type is not correct. Same program, no freaky updates so why won't it recognize them?

The 5D Mark II was first supported in Camera Raw 5.2
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
CS4 shipped with Camera Raw 5.0 so by re-installing CS4 you've reverted to Camera Raw 5.0 which cannot read 5D Mark II Raw files.
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
In CS4, click Help > Updates to re-install Camera Raw 5.7 and you can once again edit 5D Mark II Raw files.

  • Photoshop CS4 vs. CS4 Extended Student Edition

I have Photoshop CS2, and it's incompatible with Vista on my laptop. At this point I'm going to buy some version of Photoshop CS4. So here are my questions:
    - What's the difference between Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop CS4 Extended? The extended version Student Edition is significantly cheaper.
    - Should I just buy the regular Photoshop CS4 Upgrade or is the student/education edition of Photoshop CS4 cheaper?
At this point it's a matter of what to buy and what's the least expensive.

In the absence of any clearly stated restrictions against commercial use of Adobe software puchased under any kind of discounted student or educational licensing program, I personally say "go for it".
If you have concerns about not being able to use the software for commercial reasons, certainly an inquiry to Adobe could be done, but even there you might get a wrong answer, so you should ask for specific documentation of such restrictions. In the absence of that, the burden of prosecution lies upon Adobe to pursue violations of a "no commercial use" rule and showing it was clearly stated for the product in question at the time of purchase. I suspect Adobe has a lot better ways to invest their time and money than in trying to identify an artist whose work they suspect was created using Adobe software, tracking down that person and, getting legal authorization to have an investigation performed into conclusively proving said artwork was created by Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. as opposed to other capabale digital imaging applications (Corel Draw, The GIMP, PaintShop Pro, etc.).
Zero reason for Adobe to offer such a discounted price on their software? I think not...for years we saw, and perhaps still do, Adobe software that was normally very expensive yet was greatly discounted when bundled with hardware. By the same argument of zero reason for a discounted student license, I could say the same would be true to those hardware/software bundles...but, there is good reason to offer the software at reduced prices in both cases: NEW CUSTOMER and FUTURE SALES, or at least the potential for that. Conversely, one might just opt instead for a lower-cost software package and happily stay with it for years to come.
I started using Photoshop with version 3.0 that was in a scanner bundle, and I've upgraded to nearly every version ever since. Sure, Adobe would've made even more off me if I'd paid the full price initially, but that is something I'd not have done...in fact, I even remember buying Micrografx Picture Publisher because it was inexpensive and yet pretty highly regarded at the time. After a bit of time using PS, I hated Picture Publisher, and as my experience grew, I also found my recommenations to others was to go the Adobe route. So, maybe that lower-cost investment in Photoshop paid off more in the long run for Adobe than if I'd paid full price or even a modestly higher one at the time. I think the same is true today, in Adobe offering their software at greatly reduced prices to students or anyone qualifying for a given discounted license.
I also believe that a discounted software license should come without any restrictions on commercial use, because:
    1) Burden of proof is going to be more costly than the profit loss on the product in question unless pursued on a large scale, in which case the software manufacturer would (or should?) garner a strong customer backlash.
    2) If a student qualifies to purchase discounted software and is talented enough to use said software to create marketable artwork, and if they can offset some of their cost of education by selling this artwork while still in school, then that's great!
    3) Just because a student's education is later completed, shouldn't restrict them from commercially using software they purchased while still a student.

    Daryl

  • Editing Video in PS CS4 Extended

I am unable to open video in PS CS4 Extended. I tried two different extensions, .mpg and .mov. I get an error that says the file can not be opened. Yes, I am sure I have PS Extended.
    Thanks!

    From the Premiere forum...
Go to this link and scroll down to the 1st question after the troubleshooting steps... it links to software that will read the video file and give you the codec that is used... report that information, and someone who uses PS-Extended should be able to tell you if it is compatible (or, it might even be listed in the user guide) http://premierepro.wikia.com/wiki/Troubleshooting
There is also information at the wiki about converting files http://premierepro.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ:How_do_I_convert_my_files%3F
