CS4 Extension Manager

I have CS4 Extended and CS6. I have kept CS4 as it is 'extended' and it also allows access to Pixel Bender. Recently I have been affected by a virus which corrupted both programmes. I have reinstalled both but I can no longer access CS4 Extension Manager in order to re-install Pixel Bender, it is usurped by CS6 Extension Manager. I have tried reinstalling the Ex. Man for CS4 but I am told it is already installed. Could you please suggest a solution to this problem. Thanks Angie xx

Your using an windows operating system?
Have you tried going to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Extension Manager CS4 (64 bit windows operating system)
or
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Extension Manager CS4 (32 bit windows operating system)
and double clicking on the Adobe Extension Manager CS4.exe to see if it runs?

  • CS4 Extension Manager ERROR! Help

Just recently installed CS4 Web Premium.  All apps seem to load and work fine except for the Extension Manager after applying an update for it.  When I open the EM, I get the a long error message that begins:
"There is an invalid token value in 'XManConfig.xml' for product 'Flash CS4', token 'userhomefolder' has a bad value as .  .  .   Initialization for this product failed."
And after that string there are similar error messages for Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator (and probably others, but the text extends beyond bounds of the Extension Manager window so I can't see all of it).
I'm pretty sure the error occurs because the 'userhomefolder' points to a virtual directory on our network.  However, I can't for the life of me figure out where the value for the variable 'userhomefolder' (or for the ones in the XManConfig.xml files -- $userdatafolder, $installfolder, $shareddatafolder -- are being pulled from.  I've searched through the Program files folders, the application data folders, and the registry -- no luck.  Online searches haven't shed any light either.
    Does anyone know?  Thanks,

BTW I have tried selecting all of the shapes before enabling
bone tool...saw that as a possible solution on another forum,
    however no luck

  • Extension Manager CS4 not installing extensions in Dreamweaver CS4

Just installed CS4 Design Premium. Now i want to install some
    extensions to Dreamweaver.
When I click on the extension to install it I get a message
    from the Extension Manager saying:
"This extension can not be installed, it products requires
Dreamweaver 6 or greater. To install this extension, please try to
install Dreamweaver CS4 or use Extension Manager CS3 which works
with Adobe CS3 and earlier products."
I have even tried to install it by opening the Extension
    Manager from Dreamweaver via the
Commands menu, with the same results.
    - I have version 2.0.274 of Adobe Extension Manager CS4.
    - I do not see the Dreamweaver icon in Extension Manager's
    product list*
    - I tried to reinstall Dreamweaver
    (which also reinstalled Extension Manager)
    - Easy to forget; I am on a Mac
    - The extensions should be okay, as they install quite nice
    in Dreamweaver CS3
I tried to look for a
plist to edit, but as I do not really know what to look for
    this action failed.
*in the same order i find the icons of Flash CS4, Fireworks
    CS4, Photoshop CS4, Indesign CS4, Illustrator CS4 and Bridge CS4 in
    the products list.

What extensions are you trying to install?

  • How to uninstall old versions of CS3, CS4, CS5 of Bridge, Device Central, and Extension Manager

    I have the following files:
    Adobe Bridge CS3
    Adobe Bridge CS4
    Adobe Bridge CS5.1
    Adobe Device Central CS3
    Adobe Device Central CS4
    Adobe Device Central CS5
    Adobe Device Central CS5.5
    Adobe Extension Manager CS4
    Adobe Extension Manager CS5
    Adobe Extension Manager CS5.5
I want to delete the old versions of these files, but Adobe says I need to use the installers in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers, but there are no relevant files in that folder. Any ideas on how to do this properly on a Mac.

That is correct Dancingjewel.  Migrating/transferring/copying Adobe applications is not supported and often leads to unexpected behavior.  To resolve this you will want to attempt to completely remove the current installations utilizing the CC Cleaner Tool and then reinstall.  If you need a fresh copy of the installation files they are available at Other downloads.

  • CS4 Adobe Extension Manager not working after Mavericks

    Hello,
I upgraded to Mavericks and now my watermark is no longer appearing in the Extension drop down menu.  I tried to reload it but when I open Adobe Extension Manager in CS4 and try to upload it I get the following message "You do not have the appropriate permissions required to perform this operation. Contact you system administrator to obtain permission.".  I have checked my settings and I am logged in as an adminstrator.
Can anyone please suggest how I fix this.
    Thanks

  • [CS4] possible Extension Manager bug

I downloaded and installed the MakePointType script (mentioned in another
    thread) for CS4.
After launching Illustrator, there was no sign of the script in File>Scripts.
I had a look in the Presets folder and found that MakePointType had been
installed in Presets>en_US>Scripts. This is a UK English installation of
Illustrator and all Presets are stored in Presets>en_GB.
By moving MakePointType from Presets>en_US>Scripts to Presets>en_GB>Scripts
and re-launching Illustrator, the script was now available.
I don't know if this is a bug with Adobe Extension Manager or an oversight by
    the author of MakePointType.

  • DW CS4 with Windows 7 - problems with Extension Manager

    Hi
I am new to this forum and have searched to see if anybody else has had this issue but can't find it.
I have recently installed CS4 on a Windows 7 laptop. I had originally downloaded and installed it on an XP laptop where it was all fine.
I had some problems with installation with the unlocking of the serial number on the new laptop - this was resolved by Adobe support.
However now I am trying to install extensions and get the message that the Extension Manager is unavailable and I have to re-install.
I have tried to contact Adobe using the Support portal but my post has been there for 4 days and I have had no response. I have just tried to call and after 12 minutes of being on hold - when the wait time was supposed to be 1 minute - I gave up.
Can anyone help with this. Does this mean an uninstall then re-install again? In which case I will have the same serial number issue that I had before. Or is there any other way I can install the Extension Manager?
    Would really appreciate any help.

I had a somewhat similar experience with the 4.2.1 upgrade with my computer. With my Q6600 running at 3.2 GHz, Vista x64 and with PPro CS4/4.1 update, I ran the PPBM4 benchmark and scored an 83.8. I then installed Win 7 x64, clean install etc… and re-ran the PPBM4 benchmark, with the same 4.1 update and with all system configurations the same as before, my score improved to 68.8, fantastic! I was very impressed with Win 7 x64.
This was short-lived because I updated PPro from 4.1 to 4.2.1, re-ran the PPBM4 benchmark and my score fell to 83.1 seconds, not impressed with the 4.2.1 update as far as this benchmark was concerned. I replaced the Q6600 with a Q9450, also over clocked to 3.2 GHz and with Win 7 x64, ran the PPBM4 benchmark and scored a 68.1; I got back everything I had lost in system speed from the 4.2.1 update plus some.
The Q6600 does not have the SSE4 instruction set while the Q9450 does. Perhaps the 4.2.1 update benefited CPU’s with SSE4 while those CPU’s without it, took a performance hit, just a guess.

  • Extension Manager (CS4 & CS5) shows wrong language

What more can I say? I discovered this problem running the CS4 Master Suite but fumbled through the dialog box and got the install of PixelBender to work. Now that I'm back with CS5 I'm still having the same problem. No language problems anywhere else but in Extension Manager. I'm using a Mac Pro, Snow Leopard, and the CS5 Design Premium Suite. The incorrect language appears to be German, though I don't speak or write German, so I'm not certain. Screen shot below. Thanks!

Thanks adaceyphoto to report this issue and provide another workaround. So far we haven't reproduce this problem in our environment, in order to help us catch it and do further analysis, could you please help to reproduce it in your Mac again and send us the log messages?
First, you need to restore the deleted languages again, and don't forget Danish.
Here are the steps to generate log messages:
    1. Go to the installation folder of your Extension Manager, right click "Adobe Extension Manager.app", and select "Show Package Contents".
    2. In the new Finder windows, select "Contents" --> "MacOS". In the MacOS folder, create a file named "ExManLog.YES", please make sure the created file has extensions ".YES". (You can right click on that file and select GetInfo to check the Name&Extension).
    3. Launch Extension Manager, try to reproduce the language problems.
    4. Close Extension Manager, open folder "/Users/$YOURNAME/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CS5/", there should be some files with ".log" format. These are the log files generated by Extension Manager.
    5. Delete the ExManLog.YES file which is created in step 2, otherwise it will slow down your Extension Manager to generate log files.
It seems not able to attach files here, so please send the packaged log files to my email address. You can find my email address from your private message box.
    Thanks.

  • Extension Manager CS4 invalid token in xmanconfig.xml

    Hi,
When I try to start Extension Manager CS4 2.1 I get an error saying that there is an invalid tokenvalue in XManConfig.xml (see attached screenshot, it's in Dutch ).
The version of Extension Manager is 2.1.112.
Extension Manager is used in a network environment where Application Data is redirected to a share Appdata$ on a file server in the network. Folder redirection also is used for the Desktop and My Documents folders. They are redirected to a share called Homedir$ on a file server in the network.
The cause of this problem is the $-sign in the share name. When I rename the share to something without a $-sign all works fine. So a solution for this problem would be to rename all the shares to something without a $-sign, but that is quite a big network change for just one small application. All other applications (including CS4 applications) don't have any problems with the $-sign and redirected folders. Thereby de shares will not be hidden anymore if we rename the shares, and we want to keep the shares hidden.
Will there be a solution for this problem in an new version of Extension Manager? Is there a patch available which resolves this problem?
I also have tried to modify the xmanconfig.xml file so extensions are stored on the local hard disk of the PC and got Extension Manager working and even could install extensions. But extensions did not become available in the CS4 applications, because the CS4 applications still look in the redirected Application Data for the configuration files and extensions of the CS4 application. But the application does not find anything there because the extensions are stored elsewhere. Is there a way to tell the CS4 applications to store and look for application data on the local hard disk of the PC?

I'm seeing exactly the same problem, along with Soundbooth crashing on startup. It's a problem with the two applications not being able to handle folder redirection properly. If you're able to, use a local AppData folder or a properly mapped drive with no variables. These seemed to cure the problem for us. Unfortunately, we aren't able to do this in live.

  • How to correctly uninstall Adobe Extension Manager CS4 (Mac)

I would like to uninstall Adobe Extension Manager CS4 from my Mac, but so far I haven't been able to find any answers on how to do this properly (or at all.)  I've  successfully uninstalled all CS4, CS5 and CS6 applications; I also ran the Adobe CS4 Clean Script, to no avail.
I am trying to reclaim space (I only use Creative Cloud) and reduce clutter on my system.
I would appreciate any help/suggestions on this matter.

  • Extension manager CS4 permissions error

I am trying to install a script (.mxp) (Windows). When I double click the .mxp file the Adobe Extensions Manager CS4 opens but I get a permissions error. "You do not have appropriate permissions.." I am the administrator and I have made sure the file has full permissions. I have tried to move the file to different locations also but no luck. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Try running the Extensions Manager program using a right-click then "run as administrator"; secondly, select the script to run from file|install extension. This worked for me in similar circumstances.
Just clicking on the extension script doesn't seem to work too well. Well, not in Vista 32bit anyway.

  • Dreamweaver CS4, OS X 10.6, and Extension Manager 2.1.115

    ...they absolutely hate each other.
None...NONE...of my extensions work now.  I can 'install' them with EM but the moment DW is started they not only show up, but when I returned to EM, they are (if EM was closed) no longer open, or (if EM was still open), there but not showing up in DW.  I'm told (obviously) that I must restart DW.  I do this, but still nothing; the extension(s) are not appearing anywhere.
If tried everything I can think of having searched multiple threads all over the place.
It seems to be an issue between OS X 10.6 and Extension Manager.
Anyone experiencing the same?  Anyone find a solution??

Well you probably don't want to hear this, but until a lot of these bugs and incompatibilities get worked out it would be best to go back to what worked first, your old system. If its a production machine I would not upgrade until at least 3 or 4 updates had been released. If you just want to test use your second activation on a second drive and have the new OS loaded seeing how everything works until you are confident that you can install the new OS on your production machine.

  • Problem with Adobe Extension Manager

Hi, I run Photoshop CS4, Bridge CS4 and Dreamweaver CS5 on a Windows 7 pc.
I've been trying to download the BridgeExportToJpegCS4 plugin but keep getting the error message "This extension can not be installed, it requires Bridge version 3 or greater.  The version of Bridge is 3.0.0464.
I have two version of Extension Manager - CS4 and CS5.  I've tried loading the plugin to both EM's, but it will not load.  I've tried saving the file to another folder which it seems to do, but then the file cannot be located.  When I go to the windows but and type in BridgeExportToJpegCS4, it shows as being in whichever plugin file I've tried but when I check the folder, it is not there!!
Any help with this would really appreciated.

Hi and thanks for your post.
Yes, it can be downloaded from here:  http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?event=extensionDetail&extid=1698308
It would be really great if you could try it and see what happens.
    Hope to hear from you!

  • Extension Manager for CS3

I have to use both Flash CS3 & Flash CS5 but I can't install extensions on CS3. I can only install extensions on CS5 only. What's going on?
This is why I have to use both versions. I recently upgraded from CS3 to CS5 BUT after a few months working in CS5, I hate it. I'm rare in that I use Flash mostly to draw. So I reinstalled Flash CS3 but I can't load my "trick or script" extensions that I love so much since there is only Adobe Extension Manager CS5, which doesn't read that I have CS3 installed on my PC along with CS5.
I have to keep both versions of Flash on my PC because some of my newer files (which I created while I was testing out CS5) will now only open in CS5 since they were created in CS5.
Does anyone know a solution to this problem or can tell me why this is happening?

    Suggestion from other people:
ExMan CS3 and CS4 should can co-exist in the same os, user may try to uninstall ExMan CS3 in Applications->Utilities->Adobe Installers firstly before re-installing CS3.
