Actually my problem is that I have a CS4 version. I am creating an artwork in CS4. And think that, in my artwork i am using many links and text. if my friend doesnt have CS4 version. He has only CS2. So while giving my artwork to him i Save As to CS2. If he is opening my artwork and modifying any of the thing after that he couldnt save the artwork. the message is saying that "Unknown error found couldnt save file"
But if i am opening same CS2 artwork into CS4 i can do any modification and i can save too. but couldnt save in CS2. Any solutions. PFA

  • Photoshop CS4 corrupted file while save to OS X 10.5 Server

    Hello
We have or Leopard OS X Server running for months. Running CS3 Clients on 10.4.11 without any problems.
A couple of weeks ago we swapped to 10.5 Clients and all Photoshop where corrupted when using "save", the "save as" works fine. After some discussions with the Adobe Support we decided to upgrade all our clients to CS4 (very expensive, while we own CS3.3 only for 5 months now)
The Same problem occured with CS4 Photoshop. After again a discussion with Adobe Support whe switched of VersionCue support within the Preferences of Photoshop. This solves the problem for our G5 Based Machine, but all the Intel-Based machines are still corrupting the Photoshop files.
Has some experienced the same problem? Is their a bugfix our a workaround. The Problem is that using "apple-S" key is an automatic mechanism for our people for your now, you can't switch the mind in days to use "shift-apple-S" Key
Discussing the Problem with Adobe and Apple is very frustrating, they both say it is not their problem or bug but from the other.
For me Adobe should fix this bug. They offer CS4 for Leopard so they should be aware of incompatibilities with the Leopard System
Who is able to help us? Are there some workarounds
    Regards
    Gérard

It's a shame that a company who sells CS4 license for more then CHF 3500 (US$ 2500) isn't able to support the standard FileServer of Apple 10.5. In different forums I found hunderds of entries of people who has the same problem saving photoshop direct to the server under CS3 and CS4.
A workaround is a solution for a new system but OS X 10.5 Server is availible for more then 14 months now. Why didn't they debug it and solve it, the should have enough resources to solve this. I read the problem also occured on some Microsoft 2003 Server but not all.
No Bugfix? Has someone experienced or this is a MS or Apple Server Bug, or morelikely a Adobe CS3/CS4 Bug.

As long as we have no Sync Tools as Connextic "FileAgent" under OS9 I refuse to work localy. We lose to many time to sort out the whole Hierachie of all the Folder that need to be modified!

This is a solvable problem, and indeed a number of networks work just fine with remote access and saving. But it requires your experienced IT to deal with it -- to understand the particular issues with your network and how to solve them on your end. Changing an OS and its network settings, computers, software, routers and switches and their settings, cabling, other network hardware or software or their settings can affect how reliably files can be accessed and saved to a server.
As Adobe has said for years, there are just far too many network variables for Adobe to guarantee that saving to a network will always work. So they recommend: drag the file to the local volume. Work locally. Save locally. Drag the file back to the server.

  • Opening CS4 files in CS2?

Very long story short... I purchased a laptop in Aug last year eligible for a free windows 7 upgrade.  I let it sit for a while, as I knew my cs2 will work with windows 7.  I did install the free trials of CS4 (AI and PSD) and worked with them for the month.  My upgrade disk for Win 7 arrived and I just completed the upgrade.  However...  I think many of my AI files are saved in CS4 format -- I THINK I did the compatibility thing, but I'm not 100% sure.
Do you think I'll have any problems -- almost all are very simple vector art files?
If so then I'm thinking of just redoing the whole OS, reinstalling the 30-day trial simply to convert my files for compatibility and then reinstalling my cs2.  I really like cs4, but don't want to spend money on the upgrade right now.  And I'd rather not spend the time redoing the OS if the general concensus is that my files will be functional.
    Thanks for your help.
    -Kristie

I feel like they'll work.  Worst case, maybe I can pay someone a few bucks to throw them into AI and change to compatibility mode if I have any problems.
I did work with an artist's CS4 files when I was on CS2 and the only thing it seemed to do was add a couple of weird paths.  So if you selected all the items in a piece of vector art and it set the frame around it to show the selection, it would include an area of white space, normally below the artwork because there was some random point down there -- deleting it solved that problem...  Hopefully it's the worst thing that will happen.
    Thanks for your help!!

  • CS4 files save to CS2?

    MAC
    OS 10.4.11
    CS4 InDesign
I am having a problem with saving files in InDesign CS4. Originally the computer had CS2 installed, then was upgraded to CS4 and ran fine. Recently I had to reinstall InDesign CS4 because of problems and ever since when I go to save it saves the files as CS2 files instead of CS4 (even though it says that the version is CS4 and CS2 can not open the files because of incompatibility error) I don't know if there are any real problems caused by this but it is frustrating and I was wondering what I should do.
    Thanks.

Did you reinstall CS2 again after CS4? The icons on Mac really are meaningless -- it just shows the icon for the last version known to the OS.

  • PS CS4 could not save because the file is locked

I saw this post, my problem is very similar, but this solution does not solve my problem:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2121454#2121454
Everytime I try to save a photoshop file I get the "Could not save becasue this file is locked" -- and then I go to save again and it does save, becasue the file has disappeared from where I had originally saved it!
This is VERY irritating, as it is not happening EVERY time I try to save a photoshop file.
In reference to the previous post about this, I do not use Spotlight, and often I do not have anything else open when working on these photoshop files.
I am using CS4, and this occurs when saving files both on and off a server.
I am afraid I will at some point end up losing a file.
    Any suggestions?

No anti-virus software (they cause far more problems than they solve, at least on a semi-secure network), I don't leave Bridge running. iTunes is running, so is InerTrak (time tracking software)... so it has to be Spotlight or Time Machine unless Activity Monitor will lock files. Or it could be Quicksilver, which creates indices like Spotlight.
First thing I'm doing is adding all my hard drives to "Prevent Spotlight from searching these locations" and we'll see if this comes up again.
Could it be the Finder? Does the Finder lock the file while reading the thumbnail?
I'm surprised that there's no way to tell what process has locked the file.
OK, last bit: Why doesn't Photoshop lock the file when it's open so that other programs won't open it?

  • Why cant I save a cs4 file as cs5 in adobe flash cs5

When ever I try to save a cs4 file as CS5 the adobe flash cs5 will stop responding for no reasons
also, some times and only for some files when I save the cs4 file as uncompressed cs5 and then save that uncompressed cs5 to normal cs5 the conversion works and some times not.
ofcourse any of the cs5 files cannot be saved as cs3 or cs2 for no reasons..
p/s: microsoft office can be saved to any previous versions.. adobe should learn something from them..

oops...posted this in the wrong thread.

  • Open CS4 file in CS2?

Is there a way to save or export one of my CS4 files so that a friend with CS2 can open it and work with it?

Official way requires InDesign CS3, then you first export your file as Inx from CS4, open it in CS3, export it again as Inx. That file can be opened in CS2.
Unofficial way is export Inx from CS4 and alter couple of lines of code inside that Inx, with some text editor... here´s some instructions for that..

  • Why can't I save as my photoshop cs4 file to .png file? I don't see any option now?

    Hi,
why can't I save as my photoshop cs4 file to .png file? I don't see any option for saving .png in Save As diolog box now? It was working fine until yesterday. Neither I can open a .png file nor save my psd file to png file?
Please help. I am using Microsoft Window XP Professional and Photoshop CS4.

In Photoshop CS4, .png open/save support was provided by a plug-in.  It is possible the plug-in has been deleted or moved, or has become unavailable to Photoshop because of a change in file protections.
Do you have the file PNG.8BI on your system.  It should be here on a 32 bit Windows system:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\File Formats\PNG.8BI

  • Saving InDesign CS4 files for InDesign CS2

I'm about to upgrade from CS3 to CS4 but have a client who needs to open documents I create InDesign CS2. I've been saving files for this clients in CS3's interchange (.inx) format, which has worked fine. But CS4 .inx files will only open in CS3. One work around I found was on TUAW (http://www.tuaw.com/2009/05/08/tuaw-tip-saving-indesign-cs4-files-for-indesign-cs2/), which suggests opening the .inx file in a text editor and changing the version number. The resulting file should then open in CS4. I was wondering if anyone has tried this (with or without success) or has any advice on saving CS4 docs for CS2? Thanks very much!

I'll go with option 3 since I no longer have CS2 on my machine and my
client won't be upgrading anytime soon. Thanks for the help and great
    advice.
I'd never use this workflow if I couldn't test it on CS2 before sending it off to the client. Don't know what to tell you here... good luck?
Me, harsh? Is that my rep?
Oh, come on. I can say it another way:
"Peter's going to be way too nice about this... DON'T DO IT."

  • EPS files does not render correctly in CS4 & CS5, but looks fine in CS2

    Hello,
I am experiencing rendering issues with EPS files under CS4 and CS5. I don't believe there is anything wrong with the EPS file, as the file will render correctly under CS2.
The EPS is a map of Australia, and it's the hill shading that fails to render correctly:
    CS2 (rendes correctly):
    CS4 (hill shading corruption):
    CS5 (hill shading corruption):
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    -nav.

Is it possible that you see the native AI data in CS2 because it has been embedded in the EPS? To me it very much looks this way, since the actual EPSdata never even has complete outlines in your other images. This is a strong indication that the paths were never properly segmented for EPS export to begin with...

  • Save a cs4 multi page document as single page cs4 files?

Is there any way to save an InDesign cs4 file with multiple pages as single page cs4 files?
I do not want to save them as PDF's, or any other file type. I need them to stay as a cs4 files.
    Thank you!

Not that I am aware of... Try scripting it - or you may find a one already online. Check out http://indesignsecrets.com/. You'll find a wealth of resources there as well.

  • Opening an InDesign CS4 file in CS2

    Hi,
I downloaded the trial version of CS4 and have a number of files either created or edited and saved in CS4. The trial has expired and I've reverted to CS2. I now can't open those CS4 files.
    Can I recover these files?
    Thanks in advance.

    > What's the rationale behind this?

I'm not sure how much you really want the full answer to your question,
    but.. ;)
Besides what Bob said; InDesign is really a transactional database
program. Each InDesign file is in fact a (rather complex) database file.
In each version of InDesign, Adobe improves/changes the way the
databases are written/created. Older versions have no way of knowing how
to read the newer database files. To do that, Adobe would have to
release major updates to previous versions every time a new version is
released (including translations for new features, etc.)-- obviously not
an simple undertaking. Adobe's solution is INX/IDML which is a much more
simplified format, so to make the (one version) backwards compatibility
    simpler.

  • How to open an Adobe CS4 file in CS2?

Is there a workaround that will allow a friend o open one of my CS4 files in CS2? Exporting it as an inx file apparently doesn't do the trick, because it'll only open it in CS3. Any help would be appreciated!

Found a solution! It's detailed at http://indesignsecrets.com/double-downsave.php just in case anyone else needed to know.
